Orlando International Airport is pretty much a straight shot if you live on the Space Coast in Brevard County. You can hop on I-75 to the 528 and it will take you directly there with minimum traffic. Plus the extended parking lots are on the way closer to the airport to reduce your parking fees.

I found all this out by accident by the way, I did not have someone tell me the benefits. It took me a while to figure out how lucky I was to live in Brevard County… not having to endure any stress to and from the airport each week.

WARNING: If you are unable to think about getting out of your comfort zone, then why even think about moving to the  Space Coast?

Avoiding childhood obesity is a lot easy to talk about than lead by leading by example. We have five children and our youngest did not shed his weight like our other children. Once we discovered the health problems that result from being overweight, my spouse and I made a conscious decision in avoiding childhood obesity in our youngest boy that I am going to share with you here!

Being the parents we had both worked out as a lifestyle when we were younger, but fell into a sedentary lifestyle once we started our family and focused on our careers. We first started with adding exercise by taking a walk after school to spend time chatting together. Listen to your child very closely like we did and probe till you find a physical activity that is of interest to them. This way you can encourage them, while their interest provides the motivation!

For our family we took up tennis at the local park with in walking distance and table top tennis during the raining days. You might think table top tennis doesn’t burn that many calories, but give it a try first before making that conclusion, loll.

The whole idea behind trying out different physical activities, was to find those interests that benefited everyone and it brought us closer in the end. I would find out my kids had homework and would share with them that I had work on my computer to do. Then Empower them by asking them, if they thought it would be a good idea to perform a physical activity and shower so we could then focus on our work before bedtime! Give it a try and encourage them by using their suggestions from time to time.

Once we made the decision to get active with our family in avoiding childhood obesity, it had so many rewards and then we slowly began making changes in our diets, but did it slowly. We would share how many calories were in Soda Pop and substituted flavored water in place of it or nature juices.

Just take your time in slowly making changes, it usually takes about 21 days before it becomes routine. If you have too many changes it is so easy to just stop everything and fall back into your routine. We did the adjustments for our benefit, but the kids did very little objecting when we made suggestions.

We did several things we will not cover here, but the main one was making fast food a one time a month reward, instead of the easy to fall back on that we are busy tonight thingy. It has been several years now and our kids, especially our youngest are doing their own thing and physically fit. We are so round of them and we have them to thank in us being able to reclaim our youthfulness. Both my spouse and I have more energy, are closer than ever and taking up Golfing lessons, give it a try!

NASCAR watch out Danica Patrick is coming!

There have been other females that advanced to the Sprint series in NASCAR, yet without the proper full time backing from a major sponsor and fan support. Danica Patrick will be the first female with credible background history in racing to take on the challenge!

NASCAR use to be a good old boy sport at the track each weekend, slowly giving away to College kids and families with enough money to back their sons passion in racing. Since the Nationwide and Sprint series has become main stream, we see Indycar drivers making the switch to NASCAR when an opening comes up in the drivers seat.

Patrick is already popular in Indycars and has one win under her belt. She will continue to race full time 2010 for Michale Andretti in IndyCars.

Tropical Storm warnings are up for areas just either side of the Hurricane Warning Area.

Any landfall is likely Tuesday morning, it is forecast to be a hurricane at landfall. If the NHC’s current track were to verify it would be very near Pensacola, but there is a fair degree of uncertainty either way.

Taking a Road Trip from the Florida Space Coast from Brevard County down to Key West will take you around 5 hours. Follow I-95 down just south of Vero Beach and exit to jump onto the Florida Turn Pike. You can relax and stay on it till it dumps you out past Miami with all of it’s traffic.

Next you will drive over some beautiful scenery with water until you hang a sharp right and begin your journey on the Keys in a South West direction. Be sure to follow the speed limit or else!

Stopped at Bar On The Way to Fantasy Fest 2009

Key Largo is where you begin and you must visit the Bar on the right side where Humphrey Bogart filmed the movie, ”Key Largo” at. Have the batteries in your camera charged and ready to go.

Although you may want to drive and stay in Key West itself, we decided to stay in Marathon, Florida at a resort and enjoy some relaxation during the day. Driving by car from there to Key West is a little over an hour during the day with a speed limit from 45 to 55 mph, yet at night it drops to 35 mph in many places, so it takes about 15 minutes longer for the return trip at night.

Again I cannot say this enough, have a designated driver for a safe trip. If you feel that you must drink during the Fantasy Fest event, please stay in Key West.

Join Florida Space Coast Today At Fantasy Fest Next Year

Back in the day Duval Street from one end to the other ( 1 mile) was a party zone, but today it has been turned into a block party type atmosphere on one end. Many events and parties are held each of the ten night event, yet you can have just as much fun in the streets taking and posing for pictures with friends or others that you just meet there!

There are many parking garages close to Sloppy Joe’s Famous bar that will run you $20 on up per night. This is a perfect location to get as close as you can to Sloppy Joe’s on Duval Street.

You can carry your drink on Duval Street without fear of the police checking it in a regular cup, but it must be plastic…glass not allowed.

First time and you do not know what to expect by picking out a sexy costume to wear. Let me share this one tip, you will feel more uncomfortable wearing regular clothes walking Duval Street than just throwing on a G-string with stockings. Men and women are strutting around in just body paint along…all ages and shapes!

First timers on this road trip can leave their costumes in your vehicle and check out Duval Street during Fantasy Fest. Then you can walk back to your vehicle to change to take part to make you feel more comfortable.

Plenty of food vendors on the street to keep you from going hungry while waiting in long lines. Drinks are expensive, so bring your alchole with you, but several rules here.

Fantasy Fest Rules For Bringing Alcohol

• Plastic bottles with the top not broken, otherwise considered open container in your car.
• Be sure keep small amount, otherwise you will be just throwing it away. Once it has been opened you must throw it away before driving your car when you leave.
• Designated driver, if you get pulled over…the police will check you will a breathe analyzer and arrest you (you will spend $10,000 for a DUI, not worth it).

Make your reservations now for next year and plan a safe trip to keep the memories enjoyable! Oh, almost forgot about the last night of Fantasy Fest and the parade. Avoid this at all costs, not worth it.

There are so many newbies that drive into Key West just to attend the lastnight for the parade. The streets are uncomfortably packed, too many people that do not know how to control their drinking properly and the traffic is bumper to bumper the next day attempting to head back home. We always leave and drive back home the morning of the parade and it is clear sailing north bound!

Biketoberfest In Florida Today

Remember not to confuse this Bike event with the 10 day Bike Week event end of Feb into the first of March, which is the Big one! More locals attend the one in October, so it is not as crowded…making it a great time for first timers to attend.

There are so many spectators that show up to see what the fuse is about, yet here are some guidelines to take as suggestions:

Please play the part men, wear jeans, black shirt, boots, sunglasses.

Ladies feel free to dress as sexy as possible showing off your best assets with hosiery and heels or heeled boots. we found a site with some pictures from past events as examples called, best pantyhose review.

Please leave your children at home, this is an adult event and not much to entertain the little one.

Sorry no flashing on the streets of your boobies, police will award you with a ticket over $100, unless you tape or glue stickers over your nipples to conceal them (latex paint works legally also).

Bring cash, ATM’s charge up to $5 per transaction and beers run $4 with a $1 tip making it $5 per beer.

If you plan to drink, as many do, take a taxi down to main street if you are not within walking distance. If you decide to drive, then drink early but begin drinking diet coke three hours before leaving as to sober up, the police will pull you over! DWI’s will put you in jail and after all the legal cost is considered, you are looking at $10,000…not worth it.

Taking your bike up for Octoberbikefest, there are anywhere from 30-50 bikes stolen, so take necessary precautions to protect your ride. We want you to have a positive experience enjoying Bike Week here in Florida today, just north of the Space Coast!
