Located just south of Orlando and the 192 Highway, for the residents of this laid back city, Kissimmee is a quiet island in a sea of activity.

But for vacationers who are intent on seeing the sites and having some fun, there is no better place to stay. Not only do tourists have easy access to all the top theme parks in Orlando-Disney World, Sea World, and Orlando Studios-but they can also visit the beaches, go golfing, or browse the local shops.

Believe it or not, shopping is a major attraction in Kissimmee, as many tourists and locals eschew the monstrous shopping centers and malls outside of Orlando and instead come to the quiet city for a relaxing day of shopping with friends and family.

What does Kissimmee offer? As you might expect from a small town masquerading as city, there are dozens of charming boutiques and antique stores, there are even a few modern shopping centers on the outskirts of the city. But those are mostly for people who don't know any better. For the residents of the town and enlightened tourists, there is nothing like shopping in the downtown area.  

That is why when people come to Kissimmee on vacation, they almost never return to the crowded, overpriced Orlando hotels again.

As we just alluded to, another reason to visit the city is the price. You can and should expect substantial savings on accommodations in Kissimmee when compared to downtown Orlando. While room rates are constantly changing and do depend on occupancy levels, you will likely see at least a twenty-five percent discount for rooms in the city.

Where to Go
 
One of the most the most popular stops for tourists and locals alike is Lanier's Antique Market place. The business has been around for decades now and offers browsers an all afternoon experience with two solid floors of antique furniture, gewgaws, and curios.

Another great thing about proprietors in Kissimmee is that they are never looking to get one over on tourists. They know quite well that their businesses depend on tourist dollars, which is why they are always so helpful. When compared with crowded Orlando gift shops and shopping centers that are only concerned with sales volume and think service is something that goes on at gas stations, Kissimmee shops and stores are a refreshing change.

And after a long, relaxing day of shopping, why not relax some more at one of the fine restaurants in the area? Like most tourist towns, Kissimmee offers a convenient mix of upscale and casual family dining. As for ethnic food, the city has everything from Greek to Irish to Italian. But in spite of the fact that they must cater to visitors, Kissimmee residents still know their history, who and where they are, which is why much of the food in the city has a decidedly southern flair.

Lastly, if for some reason you want to visit the shopping centers, there really aren't any huge malls in the immediate area. For those monstrous shopping centers, you will have to venture into Orlando. But beware! The crowds are carnivorous.
 

 When you decide to take your pet along for the vacation, you should consider many things. First, you need to know where you are going and by what means you plan to get there. Also, consider what you will be doing there. You have to be sure all that fits in with your pet. Do not assume that all hotels are pet friendly. There are those that do not allow pets anywhere near their premises. Others allow but they too have conditions for these pets. Therefore, you need to do some research for hotels or vacation rentals that allow pets. Find out their terms and conditions so that you may know what you are getting into.   

Before you begin your travel for vacation, make sure your pet has been to the vet to have his/her shots. Have a record of all the vaccinations that your pet has had. The vacation rental you will be staying at might ask to see them. Nobody will want to risk the health of their customers by having sick or unhealthy animals around. Consider the mode of travel. Road travel is easier with pets unlike air travel. Ensure your pet has its special seat with a safety belt just like you. Remember to carry your pet's license with you. The pet should also have an identification tag, which should have your information and especially contacts. You will not want your pet thrown out of a vacation rental because it lacks identification. It could as well be mistaken for a stray. Have enough food to last throughout the trip. Some pets also get sick due to taking water they are not accustomed to. This means you should carry bottled water for your pet from home. Do not also forget to pack you pet's vitamins for the vacation. Also, carry something familiar to keep the pet calm in a strange place. You do not want your pet getting all upset and spoiling the vacation for everyone. 

Some vacation rentals will ask you to make sure your pet is well behaved. They may not want noisy pets or those that will always insist on sitting on tables. Other rentals will require you to eat at outdoor dining tables because of your pet. Not all travelers will want pets around as they take their meals.  You must have total control of your pet through out the vacation.

Your pet should be a socialized one too if you are to get a vacation rental with it. At least it should be able to stand other people during the vacation. All you need to do is check out the pet friendly vacation rentals in Florida and choose one.

Fort Lauderdale Beach

Once known as the ideal spring break student rioting location, Fort Lauderdale has strived to repair this reputation. The invasion of college students from the winter north made it a no go zone for families during spring break. Now however, the authorities have proactively moved to monitor the beaches enforcing a strict code while not throwing a wet blanket on the fun.

Caladesi Island State Park

Located at Dunedin, the Caladesi Island State Park is comprised of several Islands each boasting super white beaches. A point to note is that access to the islands is only possible through a private boat or a ferry.

St. Joseph Peninsula State Park

If you consider a visit to the beach the ultimate vacation and have bird watching as your favorite pastime, then look no further than the St. Joseph Peninsula State Park. The beachfront runs for just over ten miles. Bird lovers and persons that just appreciate nature will have hard time seeing all the 240 different species of birds at the park. During the breaks from the bird watching, you can engage in snorkeling, sunbathing, swimming, fishing as well as camping.

Honeymoon Island State Park

Perhaps no other beach is more aptly name than Honeymoon Island State Park. The Palm-thatched bungalows are a favorite among newly-weds. The sun-drenched beaches, pine forests and mangrove swamps complete the fascinating scenery.
