ZUBER, FL- As most residents of north central Florida know, the entire area was inundated with heavy rains yesterday, resulting in flooding in some areas. Ocala Speedway has also endured the precipitation, and the clay is beyond saturation point after more rain fell overnight and continues this morning.

Due to the extremely wet conditions, and due to the forecasts calling for more rain, Ocala Speedway owner Michael Peters has decided to rain out races scheduled for Friday, March 12.

Racing will return to Ocala Speedway on March 19 as the World of Outlaw Late Models make their debut in a $10,000 to win, 50 lap race. Also on tap is the $1000 to win Hobby Stocks and Mini Stocks.

Camargo, IL (3-10-10) by Kelly Brown Public Relations Director The
OReilly All Star Circuit of Champions has not visited the state of New York in over ten years, but the fans of the 410 racing series will not be waiting much longer as the series has inked a deal with Chapmans Can Am Motorsports Park, Fonda Speedway, and Utica-Rome Speedway which will bring the series back to the Empire State. For the 410 sprint car fans north of the boarder, the All Stars are taking their style of fast-paced sprint car racing to Canada for the first time in 2010 when they visit Autodrome-Grandby.

Autodrome-Grandby & Fonda Speedway in June

The stretch of inaugural events will begin in Canada in Quebec just
southeast of Montreal. Autodrome-Grandby, which is a half-mile, long time mainstay for dirt racing in Quebec on Friday nights. The All Star Circuit of Champions will be visiting the track in the heart of French Canada on Monday, June 7th, which promises to be an exciting event for northern sprint car fans. Autodrome-Grandby is a wide half mile, with walls both inside and out.The surface is usually easy on rubber and produces two solid grooves, either way down low or right up against the outside wall the track promises to produce exciting racing action.

The first stop in New York this season for the All Stars will be Fonda Speedway on Wednesday, June 9th. Fonda Speedway is a 1/2 mile dirt oval located at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds in Fonda, NY, which has been hosting races for a number of years. Fonda Speedway hosted its first race in 1927, so it has a much-storied history. The name Fonda Speedway was first used in 1953. The track has also operated as Thruway Speedway, Fonda-Fultonville Speedway and New Fonda Speedway over the years.

July in New York

The 2010 schedule for Chapmans Can Am Motorsports Park is by far the
biggest in the history of the Lafargeville, New York racetrack and on
Monday, July 12, the All Stars will be a part of the schedule racing at the 4/10-mile track. This event is part of the SUNY Canton Summer Sizzler event in the month of July. Then the following evening on Tuesday, July 13, the series will be traveling to Utica-Rome Speedway in Vernon, New York to race on the 1/2-mile banked oval. Each night the drivers of the All Star Circuit of Champions will be contending for $5,000 prizes.

Chapmans Can Am Motorsports Park dates back to 1974 when it was built by an Evans Mills, NY real estate broker, Leslie W. Brown. The current owner is racer and local businessperson Tiger Chapman. Normally the track is known for its various modified classes and street stocks, but in July, the locals will be experiencing 410-sprint car racing at its best.

The Utica-Rome Speedway is a racetrack with deep history. It began life in 1961, when it was built on some old farmland by Joe Lesik. Utica-Rome replaced the Vernon Speedway, an early stock car track which was converted into a horse racing facility. The track typically sees modified classes and street stock weekly, but when the All Stars invade the track the New York race fans will get to experience the thrilling action of the series.

In All Star racing history, the series has raced at three different tracks and held four different races in New York State. They include
Albany-Saratoga Speedway (two races), Fulton Speedway, and Ransomville Speedway. The last race for the All Stars in the Empire State was held at Ransomville Speedway in May of 2000. Kelly Kinser went on to win that
event.

BARBERVILLE, FL – March 9, 2010 — When the lights go up on Volusia Speedway Park this Saturday, a star-studded group of DIRTcar racers from near and far will take the stage. The 2010 season will officially be underway with nearly 30 weeks of racing action in store.

2009 Champions will be defending their titles against strong fields of up-and-coming performers. Lawton Minchew will ward off Late Model racers hungry for a Volusia Speedway championship. Rob Underwood will be in the sights of Modified teams including Dale Murray who narrowly missed the 2009 championship. Shaun Daugharty took home the Sportsman championship in 2008 and 2009. He will be looking for the “Triple Crown”. Grady Christian has been a strong contender in the Street Stock class for the last two seasons, bringing home champion honors in 2009. Scott Mooers led the new Thunder Stock class in 2009, but as this class grows in numbers, so does the competition. Danny Lunn took home the champion trophies in 2008 and 2009 for the 4-Cyl Challengers but will be up against several young drivers looking for first place honors.

Volusia Speedway’s 2010 season promises nothing less than spine tingling thrills, wild door-to-door racing, mouth-watering hamburgers, fabulous fries, beer that’s almost too cold to hold and family fun for everyone.

On Saturday, March 13, the pits will open at 4:00pm. Grandstand gates open at 5:30pm. Racing starts at 7:30pm featuring all six of Volusia’s traditionally favorite divisions. Adult grandstand admission is $12. New for 2010, Senior (ages 60+) admission is $10. Students ages 11-15 will be admitted for $6; children ages 10 and under will be admitted free. Drive-in parking is $10 per car.

Volusia Speedway offers your best value in family entertainment every Saturday night through October with Fastlane Five Racing and special events.

Volusia Speedway Park is located 15 miles west of Ormond Beach, FL on State Road 40. Additional information and updates will be available on the website – www.volusiaspeedwaypark.com, or call 386-985-4402.

Inverness, FL (March 8, 2010) The 2nd Annual Blast from the Past is now in the records book as a total success. A perfect sunny day greeted drivers and fans as they entered Citrus County Speedway for a day full of fun and good times.

However, the morning was full of sadness as one of the drivers, Billy Hancock, passed away in the pits after suffering a fatal heart attack.

Billy was the first car on the track for practice and all went well. He pulled back into the pits to his pit stall and suffered a massive heart attack. Although every effort was made to revive Hancock, all failed.

His young daughter, who is 10 years old and was in the pits with her dad, said it best when she told us “God needed a new angel and he took my daddy”.

Chaplain Bill Ross and event organizer Joyce Lankford gathered the drivers around to tell them what had happened to Billy and to pray for him and his family. Sadness covered many faces. But the only good thing that can be said about such a tragic event is that Billy died doing what he loved which was racing and he got that one last ride in his racecar before he joined heaven.

Event Organizer Joyce Lankford took time to give out some very special awards before the racing began. Receiving awards were Ms. Becky from Citrus County Speedway for 33 years of service to the track.

Earlene Williams for her dedication to racing and being one of the best scorers around. Ms. Kelly who helped Joyce travel the many roads of Florida to put out the word for the 2nd Annual Blast from the Past and for always being there when Joyce felt she could no longer do this. And Mary Anderson who is a very special lady to many and who helped in many ways organize the Blast from the Past with names and phone numbers.

The men were not left out either as the two oldest drivers received awards for being the two oldest drivers, Jim Fenton, Leroy Porter, Don Nerone, Jack Donahey. and Dick Anderson.

A record number of cars filled the pits including the Daytona Antique Auto Racing Association Stocks, Sprints and Midgets. Plus there were Mini Stocks, Sportsman, Late Models, Enduro cars, Strictly Stocks and one dirt late model driven by Pat Bresnahan.

The biggest race of the afternoon was the Late Models with Dick Anderson on the pole for the 15 lap event and Perry Lovelady on the outside pole. Lovelady had just competed the day before at Orlando SpeedWorld in the FAST Series. Anderson, who has not been behind the wheel of the famous 92 for some time, took to the driver’s seat.

Anderson quickly took the point but Lovelady gave him very little room to slip up much. With Lovelady right on his tail, Anderson found himself in second all the sudden and Lovelady leading. Well, Anderson wasn’t going to have that and actually got underneath Lovelady’s car trying to shake him but Lovelady was not going for that.

But while these two were playing, coming up behind them was Pat Bresnahan in the only dirt car at the event. Bresnahan played it very smart and let the two have their duel and when he saw the advantage, took the point and as they say, “never looked back”.

Who would have thought it?? A dirt car beat all the asphalt cars.

In the Modified event, Spook Whittle gave everyone a thrill when he went up the wall in turn 2 on his side after spinning out in the dirt. Not sure he meant to do that but it was a thrill. Whittle was fine however the car made need alittle work.

The other thrill of the afternoon was watching Carl Addy fly over the wall in his Late Model. The green flag had waved and the next thing people saw was Addy flying over the turns 1 – 2 wall and straight down into the pits. Luckily, there were no cars or people in that particular location but it was definitely a sight to behold.

Owner of the car Stuart Lycett was seen running down towards the pits to check on Addy and the car. Addy was fine but the car left Citrus County Speedway looking more like a modified than a Late Model.

The Daytona Antique Auto Racing Association put on a great show with the older drivers and then ran some races for their yearly points. Watching those cars go around the track was very special and knowing that the “best of the best” was behind the wheels.

Was the Blast from the Past a success??

The answer would be definitely yes. From the smiling faces leaving the speedway and the “thank yous” and when are we doing it again, yes, it was most definitely a success.

To all the racers and their families who came to the 2nd Annual Blast from the Past, we say thank you. Thank you for coming, thank you for sharing your wonderful memories, and than you for the new memories you have given us.

Will there be a 3rd Blast from the Past??

That is something that only time will tell.

The second week of regular season racing action at Florida’s oldest speedway will bring another round of firsts to Ocala area race fans, including a new regular division making their debut at Ocala Speedway. Meanwhile three other regular divisions will get their first crack at Ocala’s tough layout in 2010 on Friday, March 12th.
While the Sportsman Division has made previous appearances at Ocala for special races, 2010 marks the first time that Sportsman cars will be a regular part of the Ocala schedule. This change is the direct result of constant urging by many sportsman racers who have asked for the chance to race at Ocala on a regular basis, and Friday night is the first race since that change was enacted.

The Sportsman cars will race on the same nights as the Open Wheel Modifieds, which are also racing for the first time in 2010 on Friday at Ocala. 2009 Division Champion, Jeff Mathews, will be back to defend his title, and the racers who made the OWM’s one of the stronger divisions in 2009 will be there to challenge him. Add to their ranks a new set of new faces and the Mods look to be exciting and competitive in 2010.

The Ocala Speedway Hobby Stocks will also hit the clay on Friday night, not only to kick off their season, but to get some seat time before their $1000 to win race coming the following Friday night. Bubba Christian claimed the championship in 2009, but others have their sights on the prize in 2010. Look for some new faces as some racers have moved up to the Hobby Stocks for 2010, while others have refocused their efforts at getting to the top of the points standings.

And the Ocala Speedway Gladiators will also get to race for the first time in 2010, as the likes of Devin Walker and Kody Fisher dump their “rookie” status in favor of racing toward the top of the heap. Paul Hahn grabbed the prize for 2009 with consistency and determination, and will have to defend that crown from a host of hungry challengers.

Back for the second race in 2010 will be the most exciting and competitive division at Ocala, the Amsoil V8 Thunder Stocks.

The grandstand gates will open at 5PM with heat racing slated to begin at 8PM, and complete details on prices for admission are posted at www.OcalaSpeedway.com, as well as the complete racing schedule through the first week in May.

Race fans and racers braved a frosty Florida night as they gathered to reopen the historic Ocala Speedway for another exciting season of racing, and Florida’s oldest speedway did not disappoint. The Sunoco United Dirt Late Model Challenge Series was also kicking off their season as a part of the festivities at Ocala, as were Ocala’s own Amsoil V8 Thunder Stocks, and the Mini Stocks. The fans and racers also collected over $260 to pass along to the founder and operator of Karnac.com and Real Racin’ USA, Jack Smith. Smith has recently been undergoing extensive surgery and was diagnosed with cancer.

Much of the attention on the night went to the Sunoco United Dirt Late Models as the new and improved version of the racing series debuted. The Ocala race officially was part of the new Southern division of the UDLMCS, but racers from the north also participated. Also garnering plenty of attention was the newly formed team included Ocala’s own Ivedent Lloyd and Darrell Padgett. That attention to this Roush-Yates powered team would last well into the early morning hours after Ivedent Lloyd wasted no time in setting the bar high, as he set fast time in qualifying with a blistering 16.275 on his second solo lap.

Four heat races and a B-main set the field for the feature event, with Keith Nosbisch on the point for the 50 lapper. The B-Main was a last chance for two final cars to transfer to the big race, and Dillon Wood made the cut despite earlier problems that kept him out of contention during heat racing.

photo courtesy of Rick’s Dark Room www.ricksdarkroom.com

As the Sunoco United Dirt Late Model Challenge Series got their feature event underway, Keith Nosbisch headed to the point and took control, while all others gave chase. Trouble came on lap 6 as Jeff Mathews and Philip Cobb tangled, creating the first caution of the race. That incident was only the beginning of what proved to be a very frustrating night for Mathews, who found himself mired in heavy traffic. It also sent the 26 of Dillon Wood to the pits for a quick fix and put him on the rear of the field for the restart.

Also dealing with traffic was 2 time and defending series champion, Johnny Collins. Collins would start the race behind the front rows, and was picking his way forward when Mathews’ rough night got a little rougher in turn 4. Jeff Mathews’ spin would cause the caution to wave again, bunching up the field behind Keith Nosbisch once more, and when the green waved Nosbisch was being chased by Brandon Dewitt, Bo Allen, Tyler Ivey, and Mark Whitener.

Another fracas would erupt on lap 19 in turn 1, leading to a five car mess between turns 1 and 2 and another caution. That incident would end the night for Jeff Mathews, and also send Darrell Padgett to the pits for the evening as well. That caution seemed to be a signal for the front runners to make bold moves, and those moves began as soon as the green waved again.

Lurking just behind the front five for most of the race was a very confident Ivedent Lloyd, who watched for opportunities and pounced as soon as he discovered them. Lloyd had gradually picked off the front runners until he was behind Nosbisch, with Tyler Ivey running in the third spot. Ivey would make a bold move on the 21 machine, but ended up in a spin instead, bringing out a caution and relegating Ivey to the rear. And meanwhile Dillon Wood was making headway back toward the front of the pack after his earlier misfortunes.

By lap 30 it became evident that Ivedent was again on the move, as he pulled up on Keith Nosbisch and cranked up the heat on the race leader. Lloyd took advantage on lap 32 and jumped out front, then began to pull away to lead the field to the checkers. Nosbisch followed Lloyd at the finish, as Dillon Wood managed to climb into the top three followed by Brandon Cameron and Tyler Ivey, who also had to make quick work of the remaining racers to power back to the front.

Ivedent Lloyd had displayed a cool confidence all night at Ocala, and that confidence went with him and his crew from the front stretch celebration to the Ocala Speedway tech shed. Sunoco United Dirt Late Model tech officials poured over the top three machines as crews and some hearty fans watched, and sometime before 2 AM the cool confidence of the 21 team began to change. Virtually no one believed that anyone on the 21 team thought that their car had any chance of failing post race tech, but it did.

The order to disassemble the power plant in the 101 of Keith Nosbisch signaled that there would be a different winner than the one that took the checkers first, as the 21 crew dejectedly pushed their car back to their hauler. The 101 was inspected and declared the winner, which moved Dillon Wood to second place and Brandon Cameron to third.

Ocala Speedway’s most competitive division also was in action on the night as the Amsoil V8 Thunder Stocks hit the clay for the first time in 2010. Austin Gamble had moved up from the ranks of the Gladiators after last season, and he wasted no time in jumping out front as things got underway. Gamble would remain there as trouble would erupt for another former Gladiator racer, Eddie Lentz, causing the first caution.

Meanwhile Michael Stalnaker was back at Ocala and out to prove that he is tough whether it is on clay or asphalt. Stalnaker battled his way to the front and took control, while Harold Erickson followed in the second spot. Austin Gamble slipped to third and was under attack from the Amsoil sponsored 12 of Jarrod Bennett.

The Amsoil V8 Thunder Stock machines are tough, and the racers are not afraid to go all out even if it means contact with other cars or the wall. And while that makes it an exciting division to watch, it also means that sometimes too many cautions cause too many delays. Time expired on the race during a caution on lap 16, so the racers battled to a green/white/checkered finish.

Michael Stalnaker took a convincing win to earn a visit to Victory Lane, while Harold Erickson held on to second place. Jarrod Bennett placed third followed by Brian Shea and Mike Tyre.

Mini Stock racers wrapped up the feature races with an exciting event that saw all sorts of unexpected surprises in the final laps. Keith Briggs was behind the wheel of the 19T despite a recent hospitalization thanks to back problems, and despite being in pain he battled Nick and Dan Kerr almost to the end. Also in the mix was 2009 division champion, Paul Combast, who tangled with Briggs on lap 4 and banged hard into the front stretch wall at the exit of turn 4.

Combast would battle back from that misfortune to earn a third place finish as more drama played out in front of him. Keith Briggs had fought hard with both Dan and Nick Kerr who were running first and second, with Briggs finally passing the 75 of Nick Kerr for second. Briggs was about to make a move in turn four in the final laps when the 73 machine suddenly spun in front of him, bringing out a caution and putting Briggs in front.

As the green flag waved the crowd looked on in shock as Keith Briggs waved out of his window and pulled aside, allowing the field to pass as he headed off to the pits. Although it was unclear if a mechanical issue happened or if Briggs’ pain proved too much, Nick Kerr held off the rest of the field for the win while Dan Kerr followed in second place. Paul Combast settled for third while Mike Oglesby and Buddy Pope rounded out the top five.

Racing returns to Ocala Speedway next Friday night as the Open Wheel Modifieds go at it for the first time in 2010. Also on the card is the debut of the Sportsman cars as a regular division at Ocala. For more information, visit www.OcalaSpeedway.com.

SYLVANIA, GA – March 6, 2010 – James ‘Redd’ Griffin gets pumped up every time he brings the renowned World of Outlaws Late Model Series to his Screven Motor Speedway.

And judging by the sweet offer he’s come up with to generate more buzz about the national tour’s third annual visit to his Peach State track on Sat., March 20, Griffin wants to make sure fans from far-and-wide will have an economical opportunity to see first-hand why the Outlaws thrill him so much.

The burly track owner known for his outgoing personality has set a price of just $20 for all general admission tickets to the blockbuster evening of action, which features a 50-lap WoO LMS A-Main that pays $10,000 to its winner. Billed as “Redd’s Stimulus Program,” the great deal will be one of the biggest bargains of the 2010 WoO LMS — and Griffin hopes it will help attract a standing-room-only crowd to witness the country’s brightest dirt Late Model stars battle at the three-eighths-mile Screven oval.

“I want to make this show a great value for everyone — especially the people in our area,” said Griffin, who has also scheduled a 35-lap National Late Model Series event with a $3,000 top prize and a $1,000-to-win Super Street feature on the WoO LMS undercard. “I want guys to see that 20 bucks is a pretty good price for a World of Outlaws race and say, ‘Come on honey, let’s go to the races to see the finest drivers in the country and bring the kids along too (children 12-and-under will be admitted free). Let’s go check out the biggest night of the year at Screven Motor Speedway.’”

Griffin, 42, is “looking for a great turnout” on both sides of the fence come March 20. If Mother Nature cooperates with a splendid day to usher in spring, he can even envision a record attendance figure and WoO LMS car count for the track, which is located less than 60 miles northwest of Savannah.

The timing of this year’s WoO LMS event at Screven should provide a boost as well. Both of the tour’s previous visits there, in 2008 and 2009, came on blazing hot-and-humid August days, so a March date will be much more comfortable for fans and racers alike. What’s more, those late-summer shows at Screven faced off directly against a number of other special dirt Late Models events; on March 20 there will be no major conflicting races within reasonable driving distance of Screven, dramatically opening up the possible entry list.

“I think running in March is going to work out great for us,” said Griffin, whose facility anchors a weekend WoO LMS doubleheader in the Southeast that kicks off on Fri., March 19, at Ocala (Fla.) Speedway. “Now more drivers can come race with us, and we can get more moisture in the racetrack because we won’t have to deal with that hot summer sun.”

A banner field of drivers is expected to invade Screven on March 20, led by the track’s two previous WoO LMS victors — former tour champion Steve Francis of Ashland, Ky. (2008) and Tim Fuller of Watertown, N.Y. (2009) — and defending series titlist Josh Richards of Shinnston, W.Va., a soon-to-be 22-year-old who finished second to Fuller in last year’s A-Main at Screven.

Homestate standouts Shane Clanton of Locust Grove, Ga., and Clint Smith of Senoia, Ga., are also members of the traveling WoO LMS roster, which features current points leader Brady Smith of Solon Springs, Wis., 2008 champion Darrell Lanigan of Union, Ky., Rick Eckert of York, Pa., Chub Frank of Bear Lake, Pa., 2009 Rookie of the Year Russell King of Bristolville, Ohio, and ‘10 rookie candidate Austin Hubbard of Seaford, Del. Several other racers will trek to Screven in hopes of building momentum to join the established Outlaws as 2010 regulars, including 2006 champion Tim McCreadie of Watertown, N.Y., who will make his first-ever appearance at Screven, rookie candidates Tim Dohm of Cross Lanes, W.Va., Tony Knowles of Tyrone, Ga., and Jill George of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and ‘09 rookie contenders Jordan Bland of Campbellsville, Ky., and Brent Robinson of Smithfield, Va.

Other drivers who have listed both the Ocala and Screven events on their schedules are three-time DIRTcar UMP Summer Nationals champion Dennis Erb Jr. of Carpentersville, Ill., two-time O’Reilly Southern All-Stars Series titlist Ivedent Lloyd of Ocala, Fla., 2006 WoO LMS Rookie of the Year Eddie Carrier Jr. of Salt Rock, W.Va., and Ray Cook of Brasstown, N.C., while the local contingent at Screven is expected to be led by brothers Ben and Jeremy Faircloth of Swainsboro.

All of Screven’s attendees will certainly notice one off-season change that Griffin made to the track.

“We added some clay to put a little more banking at the top of the turns,” said Griffin, who had to add height to the guardrails at both ends of the speedway to compensate for the increased banking. “We want to open it up and get those cars racing right to the wall. I think we’re gonna see more side-by-side racing now.”

On-track action is scheduled to get underway at 6 p.m. on March 20.

Pit passes are $35 and $10 for children 12-and-under.

Screven Motor Speedway is located between Mile Markers 6 and 7 on GA Route 21 in Screven County, Ga.

Tulare, CA-March 6, 2010-For many drivers, picking up the first win of a new season is one of the toughest feats to accomplish in racing. After being victorious 21 times overall last season with the World of Outlaws, Joey Saldana certainly knew the way to the winners circle heading into 2010. He came close to winning each of the first four races this season, finishing in the runner-up spot in three of those.

Saldana broke though in a big way on Saturday night at Groppetti Automotive Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, California before a huge crowd to score his first A-Feature win of the season to earn $10,000 in the 35-lap contest aboard the Budweiser Maxim. It was the 60th A-Feature triumph of his career with the World of Outlaws.

“It was a great effort by my team,” said Saldana. “We blew up in the dash and they worked hard to get the motor changed, so we really didn’t get to work on our car too much. My car was pretty good for 35 laps and the motor held in there. It was a total team effort by everyone involved.”

For Saldana, the win was his third at Thunderbowl Raceway with the World of Outlaws, which is the most of any driver dating back to the series debut at the track in 2003. The second generation driver scored his first victory at the track in 2007 and followed that up with a triumph last season at the high-banked 1/3-mile. He used a couple of strong starts to jump to the lead over pole sitter Tim Kaeding.

“It’s very hard to win out here,” shared Saldana. “Last year we won the second race of the season and it just rolled. Once you win one, it seems like it comes easier and easier. It seems like you are not thinking about winning as much and worrying about racing. Now, we can focus on racing and hopefully win some more.”

In addition to winning on Saturday night, Saldana took over the top spot in the World of Outlaws championship standings after four-time and defending series champion Donny Schatz had some trouble and wound up 20th after making a couple of trips to the work area after earlier contact led to him getting upside down. Schatz was tied with Steve Kinser entering the event. Kinser came all the way from 21st to finish sixth, though fell a couple of spots in the standings to third. Saldana has a seven point lead over Jason Meyers, and is nine markers ahead of Kinser.

“When I’m leading in October, then I’d be happy,” Saldana stated when asked about leading the points. “This is so early in the year that points don’t matter yet. We just want to win races and keep our sponsors happy. As long as we are doing good and keeping everyone happy, I can continue to race and that’s my goal.”

After his win on Friday at his home track, Jason Meyers lined up eighth in the finale and after a first lap tangle involving Craig Dollansky and Jac Haudenschild that led to a complete restart, he took the green flag on the outside of the second row. Meyers got around Donny Schatz early in the race and the pair battled for the fourth spot for a number of laps. He moved into third on the ninth lap getting around Lucas Wolfe and was up to second on the 11th lap after Tim Kaeding’s night came to an end while in the runner-up spot.

“This team worked hard all night,” said Meyers. “D.J. (Lindsey- crew chief) made a few points before we went out and changed the car around a little bit and we had a much better race car. That thing was scary to drive in the dash. To have a weekend like this at home in front of all of my sponsors, family and friends is awesome.”

On the second restart on the 11th lap, after a yellow and then red flag, Meyers inched ahead of Saldana in turn one down low, but Saldana used the momentum of the top side of the track to blast back around him and quickly opened a comfortable lead. One final restart on the 14th lap after Lucas Wolfe broke a driveshaft while running third, gave Meyers another chance at Saldana on a restart. He looked low in turns one and two, but was not able to get a run on the leader. Meyers wound up second in the GLR Investments KPC.

“That may have helped, but the bottom line is that he was getting through traffic as well as we were,” shared the native of Clovis, California when asked if heavy lapped traffic would had helped. “We had a good race car tonight and it was good enough for second. We just couldn’t get a good enough run on him. Thanks to all of the fans for coming out tonight. It was another great crowd tonight and another great point night tonight. It looks like we are going to have a great year and I am looking forward to it.”

Fred Rahmer finished a very strong third in just his second career start at Thunderbowl Raceway on Saturday night after making his debut at the bullring on Friday night. He started 14th and moved up a couple of rows after the first lap tangle between Dollansky and Haudenschild. He found himself in the Top-Five by just the 11th lap of the 35-lap affair aboard the C&S Lawn & Landscape machine.

“I really enjoyed being out here and meeting some new people,” said Rahmer. “We don’t have anything like this back in Pennsylvania. I have never seen any place like this. I appreciate everyone for having me out.”

Rahmer and his team had a helping hand over the weekend, as multi-time King of California and fellow Hall of Famer Brent Kaeding, who has won 20 times over the years at the high-banked bullring, was helping them with their set-up.

“It’s a lot of pressure, because when you get advice from someone like that, you have to live up to it,” Rahmer stated. “Last night my car was better than my finish so I had to try and make up for it tonight. The guys had the car very good and we were very fortunate.”

Kraig Kinser picked up his best finish of the season on Saturday night coming home fourth in the Quaker State Maxim. Jason Sides continued a very consistent start to the 2010 campaign by finishing fifth in the Wetherington Tractor Service Maxim. He is one of just four drivers that has finished in the Top-10 in every race this season.

Steve Kinser was the KSE Race Products Hard Charger after coming all the way from the 21st starting spot to finish sixth in the Bass Pro Shops Maxim.

Sam Hafertepe Jr. was seventh in the Lone Star Speedway machine, with Paul McMahan eighth in the Great Clips Maxim. Tommy Tarlton was ninth piloting the Corporate America Lending Eagle, with Daryn Pittman rounding out the Top-10 aboard the Hunter Truck Sales Maxim.
The World of Outlaws return to action on Friday, March 12 at Lone Star Speedway in Kilgore, Texas and on Saturday, March 13 at Houston Raceway Park in Baytown as part of the Second Annual Texas Two-Step Weekend.

THUNDERBOWL RACEWAY NIGHT #2 NOTES
