Kraig Kinser was victorious at the track in 2008, taking the lead in lapped traffic from Jayme Barnes on the 24th lap of the 30-lap contest, which was extended by one circuit following a caution on the white flag lap. The third generation driver used a strong restart to propel him to his first win at Grays Harbor Raceway, with Barnes in second and Steve Kinser in third.

Steve Kinser is one of just two drivers that has won twice with the World of Outlaws at Grays Harbor, taking the checkered flag most recently in 2004, along with a triumph in 1998. The 20-time series champion enters the event second in points, just 36 markers behind Joey Saldana as he seeks his record 21st title. He is the only driver that has competed in each and every World of Outlaws race at Grays Harbor Raceway dating back to 1996, racking up 18 Top-10 finishes at the track along the way.

Donny Schatz, the four-time and defending World of Outlaws champion, won at Grays Harbor Raceway in 2005 and has 14 career Top-10 finishes at the track dating back to his debut at the 3/8-mile in 1997. He has won three times this season and is currently fourth in points.

Jason Meyers, who is currently third in points, just 39 markers out of the lead was victorious at Grays Harbor Raceway in 2003. He has nine career Top-10 finishes in 12 starts with the World of Outlaws at the track.

Joey Saldana, who currently leads the World of Outlaws championship standings, has seven career Top-10 finishes with the series at Grays Harbor Raceway with three of those being Top-Five performances. He finished second at the track in 2007 as he looks for his first win there. The second generation driver currently leads the series in wins and Top-Five finishes as he seeks his first title.

The World of Outlaws visited Grays Harbor Raceway for the first time in 1996 and in 12 A-Feature events at the track, 10 drivers have visited the winner’s circle. There has been a different winner in each of the last eight races the series has contested at the track.

Alger, WA-September 2, 2010- Toni Lutar’s truck, trailer and crew left White Rock, British Columbia, Canada at the end of January to make the 3,100 mile trek to Florida to open the season and for the first time in about nine months, were back at their home base this week, as the World of Outlaws continue the 2010 Gold Rush Tour with a stop at Skagit Speedway in Washington on Friday, September 3 and Saturday, September 4. For Lutar, it will be the closest race to home all season, as Skagit is just a mere 40 miles from his shop.

Lutar has competed a number of times at Skagit Speedway over the years and has won three races at the high-banked three-tenths-mile bullring, which is located in the very scenic Northwest corner of Washington.

“It will be nice to go over there and see a lot of people that I haven’t seen for a while,” said Lutar. “I’m looking forward to getting to race there. It will be our only chance to get over there and race this year so it will be a good weekend for us.”

While he has visited many new tracks this season during his rookie year on the road with the World of Outlaws aboard the Northwest Used Auto Parts KPC, Lutar will get the chance to visit one he knows very well when he rolls through the pit gate at Skagit Speedway, as he has turned countless laps at the track over the years. He competed for the first time at the track in 1979, the same year the World of Outlaws first visited Skagit. He won his first race there in 2002 and also scored victories in 2004 and 2005. He has over 50 career Top-10 finishes at the high-banked bullring with nearly 40 of those being Top-Fives.

“It helps a whole bunch, that’s for sure, because you know what to look for and expect there and have a good idea of what to do,” noted the contender for the Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year Award when asked about his experience at Skagit Speedway. “The surface has changed a lot over the years and they say it has changed again this year, so we’ll have to wait until we get there to see what it looks like and we’ll go from there.”

Lutar, who began racing over 30 years ago, before taking a little time away from the sport, had always wanted to take to the road with the World of Outlaws full-time and the right opportunity presented itself this season. In addition to competing against the best sprint car drivers in the world night in and night out, Lutar has still found the time to operate his auto parts business back home in Canada.

“It’s been fun for the most part and I am really enjoying it,” he stated of his first full season on the road with the World of Outlaws. “The travel has been the biggest challenge. I have tried to get home as much as I can and I live on the West Coast (of Canada), so we have been flying across the country quite a bit.”

The Canadian has visited many tracks this season that he had heard and read about for years, including making his first trip to the sprint car hot bed of Central Pennsylvania and the famed Williams Grove Speedway. He also got to race at three tracks in Canada in three difference Provinces as he made his debut at Autodrome Drummond in Quebec and Ohsweken Speedway in Ontario back in July, before competing at Castrol Raceway in Edmonton, Alberta last weekend.

“Racing all the time has been the best part,” Lutar said with a smile when asked about what the best part of this season has been. “It’s been a lot of fun. We’ve become pretty good friends with a lot of the guys out here and that has helped a lot as well and been a great thing. The fans have been great to us as well. I had a lot of fans out in Pennsylvania so it was great to finally go out there and meet them. The fans all over have been fantastic this year to us.”

Lutar scored the best finish of his World of Outlaws career earlier this season at Tri-State Speedway in Oklahoma, coming home seventh. He has raced his way into the dash twice, first at The Dirt Track at Charlotte in May with the cameras from SPEED rolling and the following night in his debut at Tri-City Speedway in Pennsylvania. He is second in the standings for the Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year Award and 15^th overall in points.

“I want to get a few more Top-10’s,” he shared when asked what will make it a good end to the season. “If we can do that, I’ll be happy and it will be a good start for next year. We have learned a lot this year that I think will help us down the road and we’ll keep working at it. You learn every time you race against these guys as they are the best in the business.”

For the first time in his career, the 22-year-old defending series champion won a 100-lap event and moved up the standings in the LaCrosse Footwear Extreme Tough Challenge.

Through five Extreme Tough Challenge events for the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series and five events for the World of Outlaws Late Model Series, Tony Stewart Racing’s Donny Schatz, the four-time and defending World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series champion, remains the overall leader by four points over World of Outlaws Late Model Series star Shane Clanton. Through the 10 events, 19 different drivers have earned Extreme Tough Challenge points.

The World of Outlaws Late Model Series drivers are back in action this weekend in another LaCrosse Extreme Tough Challenge event at Tri-State Speedway in Franklin, Pa.

The Extreme Tough Challenge features 16 overall events – eight per series – where drivers who are competing full-time in the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series or the World of Outlaws Late Model Series earn points toward the championship, which will be decided at the World of Outlaws World Finals in November at The Dirt Track at Charlotte. The top five finishers no matter the series will share a $15,000 point fund, and the winning driver will receive the Extreme Tough Challenge champion trophy.

Also, at each Extreme Tough Challenge event, LaCrosse will distribute keepsake posters as well as provide hat and t-shirt giveaways. Fans can get involved at every race through a unique Extreme Tough competition with the chance to win a pair of LaCrosse boots.

Alger, WA-September 2, 2010 -Skagit Speedway in Washington was one of the track that hosted the World of Outlaws during the inaugural 1978 season and also the next year as well, and after a couple of hiatuses, the track has now become a staple during the Gold Rush Tour, with the series visiting the high-banked three-tenths-mile bullring each and every year since 2006. That tradition will continue this week, as the World of Outlaws visit the track located in the always scenic Pacific Northwest on Friday, September 3 and Saturday, September 4, with $20,000 awaiting the winner on Saturday night, with both nights being full racing programs.

Jason Meyers won the finale at Skagit Speedway last season to earn the $20,000 top prize, which at the time was the richest payday of his career. He has since matched that, winning the Ironman 55 last month to again pick up $20,000. The veteran has finished on the podium in each of his last four starts at the track. Meyers is currently third in points just 39 markers out of the lead as he seeks his first World of Outlaws title.

Joey Saldana was victorious in the opener at Skagit Speedway last season, recording a clean sweep of the night, which was the only clean sweep of the entire 2009 season with the World of Outlaws. He leads all current drivers at Skagit with three wins and has finished in the Top-10 in eight of his nine career starts at the track. He currently has a 36-point lead on 20-time World of Outlaws champion Steve Kinser in the series standings as he too chases his first title.

One year ago: Jason Meyers scored the richest win of his career pocketing $20,000 for winning the finale at Skagit Speedway last season. The California native got around early leader Jayme Barnes on the ninth lap and would outdistance Joey Saldana and Jac Haudenschild for the win. Jason Sides opened the night by setting a new track record in time trials, while Jonathan Allard, Saldana, Haudenschild and Lucas Wolfe won heat races, with the dash going to Jason Sides.

Joey Saldana opened the two-day event at Skagit Speedway with a clean sweep, setting fast time, winning the first heat race, winning the dash and winning the A-Feature over Jason Sides and Jason Meyers. Tyler Walker, Nick Engberg and Sammy Swindell also won heat races. Saldana took the lead in the main event from Sides on the fourth circuit and would lead the remainder of the distance.

This weekend, DIRTcar Racing UMP Modifieds took center stage in Central California with a hugely successful two-night show at Antioch and Merced Speedway.

The first annual DIRTcar Racing UMP Modified West Coast Nationals packed the grandstands and filled the pits, giving testimony to the fan base for this type or car, the promotional talent of John Soares’ Oval Motorsports, and the appeal of DIRTcar Racing in general.

“We were near capacity at both Speedways,” said Soares, the promoter of Antioch and Merced. “The large fan turnout proves that modifieds are what the fans want to see.”

“Both tracks had all-modified shows, and had the largest crowds of the season. Modifieds are still growing in popularity. The modifieds out-drew the 410 Sprint cars as the major racing attraction at our Central California tracks,” Soares continued.

“Working with John is always a great experience because you know he’s going to put on a great show and the fans are going to leave happy,” said Chris Morgan, Director of Western Operations for DIRTcar, “and to see the fan support in this area shows the potential for what we can do with DIRTcar UMP Modifieds in the region.”

“We are looking forward to putting on quite a few more shows of this caliber next year,” Morgan continued.”

“The modified division is loaded with new talent, has the top experienced drivers, and still draws big-name veterans,” said Soares. “The modified division also has the car count that people know will result in a spectacular show.”

Soares’ comments were proven correct when the checkered flag waved over the A-Main at Merced to conclude the two nights of racing.

Both races had thrilling storylines and showcased just how strong DIRTcar Racing UMP Modified action is in California. A whopping 58 cars showed up the first night at Antioch and 42 were on hand to pack the preliminaries at Merced.

The challenges were different each night, but the outcome was the same in the first annual DIRTcar Racing UMP Modified West Coast Nationals as California’s Bobby Hogge IV claimed $8,000 in prize money for winning the two-day show at Antioch and Merced on August 28th and 29th.

“The $8,000 couldn’t have come at a better time,” Hogge said. “We support our racing with our own money and our winnings, and this will keep us going.”

Each race paid $3,500 to win, with Hogge pocketing an additional $1,000 bonus for sweeping the two events.

On the first night of racing at Antioch, Hogge had to contend with Scott Busby and Kenny Neu in a side-by-side battle that was not decided until the 28th circuit of the 35-lap A-Main. Busby and Neu finished second and third, with Chris Shannon and Michael Paul rounding out the top five.

But where raw power decided the Antioch feature, Hogge needed a little luck to sweep the weekend. The decisive pass at Merced was also made in the closing laps when leader Shannon’s car suddenly lost power, causing him to swerve out of the racing line.

“A clump of mud hit the emergency power kill switch on the cockpit deck,” Shannon said after the race. “It has never happened before – all I could do in a split second is turn the wheel to get the car out of the way. I didn’t want to get killed.”

“I didn’t have the best car,” Hogge replied in victory lane. “It was unfortunate for Chris, but I’ll have to take it as it is. I would have liked to win by passing him. But, I’d rather be lucky than good any day.”

Shannon re-fired his car and rejoined the fray, eventually climbing to eighth.

Hogge’s luck wasn’t limited to the late-race incident, as he also narrowly avoiding spinning on a lap-12 restart. When Shannon darted into the lead, Hogge and Alex Sanford both dove for the opening behind him. The two made contact and Sanford spun; Hogge continued.

“It was a typical racing scenario,” Hogge said. “One guy is fighting for a position and the other one is protecting it. Chris left an opening, and Alex and I were fighting for the same spot.”

Rounding out the top five at Antioch were Robby Sawyer in second, Paul Stone in third, Antioch Speedway’s Modified point leader Troy Foulger in fourth, and New Mexico’s Jimmy Ray in fifth.

While the battles for the win featured California natives, some drivers made long tows to compete in the DIRTcar Racing UMP Modified show in order to gain valuable national points. Stormy Scott and Jimmy Ray, a pair of New Mexico natives, traveled more than 1,100 miles to compete in the first ever West Coast Nationals and swell the car count in an effort to chase those points.

Both Scott and Ray had tire problems at Antioch and finished outside the top five. Scott rebounded to finish eighth in that race, but experienced even more frustration at Merced, where he was 17th.

Ray was not as lucky at Antioch. He had to leave the track to make repairs after his tire troubles, which caused him to finish 15th, but he more than made up for that disappointment the following night at Merced when he chased the leaders across the line in fifth.

“It’s only the fourth race on this car, which I built myself,” Ray said. “I like to travel, experience new tracks, and learn.  If I set up my car like I did tonight, I would have run better at Antioch the night before.”

With A-Main features traditionally limited to 18 drivers at Antioch and Merced, the competition to simply make the show was fierce, but a total of 29 different drivers qualified for the pair of A-Mains with eight of them racing into both shows. One car was added to the Antioch feature because there were an odd number of heat races.

Along with the undefeated Hogge, Busby finished second at Antioch and was seventh at Merced, Shannon finished fourth at Antioch and was eighth at Merced, while the remainder of the list had a mixed bag of results.

Sawyer was 14th at Antioch and second at Merced; Ray finished 15th and fifth, Scott finished eighth and 17th, Stanford finished 19th and sixth, while Austin Burke was 16th both nights.

The triumph was important to the 22-year-old sensation for many reasons. It broke him out of a summer slump, brought him a personal-high feature-win payoff of $20,775, pushed him back into the WoO LMS points lead and, most notably, gave him his long-awaited first 100-lap A-Main checkered flag as a dirt Late Model driver.

“It feels great to finally win one of these 100-lappers,” said Richards, who earned his series-leading seventh victory of the 2010 season. “This isn’t a crown-jewel event, but it’s a 100-lapper and that’s all that matters. We finally got one under our belt after seven years of trying and hopefully we can win some more now.”

Richards authored a memorable march to his milestone extra-distance score, recovering from a slow start to steer his Mark Richards Racing Enterprises/Seubert Calf Ranches Rocket car forward from the 10th starting position to pass 2006 tour champion Tim McCreadie of Watertown, N.Y., for the lead on lap 79. The defending WoO LMS titlist dominated the remainder of the distance, crossing the finish line 3.314 seconds ahead of McCreadie’s Sweeteners Plus Racing Rocket mount.

WoO LMS rookie Austin Hubbard, 18, of Seaford, Del., settled for third place in Dale Beitler’s Rocket after running as high as second and briefly challenging McCreadie for the lead. Rick Eckert of York, Pa., improved one position from his fifth starting spot to place fourth in his Team Zero by Bloomquist car, and fifth place was claimed by 2008 series champ Darrell Lanigan of Union, Ky., who entered the event leading the points standings by two markers over Richards but ended it trailing his young rival by eight points.

Richards admitted after the race, which was postponed by rain on its original Aug. 21 date, that he had his doubts about reaching Victory Lane and regaining the points lead.

“The last time we were here (for qualifying on Aug. 20) I felt terrible,” said Richards, who timed 19th-fastest and finished fourth in a heat race. “When we went out tonight for hot laps I was way too tight, and in the second session I felt absolutely terrible. Then, with the way I felt early (in the 100), I figured we’d finish 10th or 15th because I wasn’t really going anywhere.

“But our car really came to us. Mid-race to late-race, it was just like a switch flipped. I could really catch the brown (moisture) off (turn) two and keep my speed up, and all of a sudden we started coming on.”

Richards surged into contention on a lap-40 restart, vaulting from sixth to third in the span of one circuit around the four-tenths-mile oval. He passed Chub Frank of Bear Lake, Pa., who started from the pole position and led laps 1-26, for second on lap 45 and quickly ran down leader McCreadie, but before he could make a bid a caution flag flew on lap 60 and he lost the runner-up spot to Hubbard on the restart.

Richards moved back into second on lap 70 with a homestretch pass of Hubbard, whose car had become hampered by damage it sustained two laps earlier in a turn-four scrape with McCreadie. McCreadie’s 10 car length edge disappeared with alacrity and Richards sailed into the lead for good with an inside move on lap 79.

Once in command Richards experienced little trouble. He easily handled a lap-90 restart that followed the race’s seventh and final caution flag to reach the finish line without a challenge.

“We just had a phenomenal car for the feature,” said Richards, whose 27th career WoO LMS victory moved him within one score of Ashland, Ky.’s Steve Francis for the top spot on the tour’s win list since 2004. “I knew the race was a hundred laps so I just tried to stay smooth and stay straight – and actually, as fast as the track was, that was probably the smoothest and straightest I’ve run 100 laps.”

McCreadie, 36, was no match for Richards. He led laps 27-78 but had to be content with his fifth runner-up finish of the 2010 tour, keeping him third in the points standings, 48 points behind Richards.

“Maybe we went a little too hard on the left-rear tire,” said McCreadie, whose last start at Mohawk was in a DIRTcar 358-Modified event more than a decade ago. “Josh was several steps softer than I was, and I’d say he was better everywhere (on the track). He drove by us.

“It was an awesome track,” he added, hailing the speedway’s preparation. “You couldn’t hold the fastest car back tonight, that’s for sure.”

Hubbard, meanwhile, was satisfied with a third-place finish, but he felt he lost an opportunity for his first-ever 100-lap victory due to the lap-68 contact with McCreadie. They came together exiting turn four when Hubbard tried an inside move that intersected with the groove that McCreadie was running off the corner.

“Me and McCreadie were just running two different lines,” said Hubbard, who started eighth. “He would peel down later than I would and we just hit off of (turn) four. It knocked my right-front tow out and I was just kinda holding on from there.

“I definitely thought we had a shot at winning it. We ran (McCreadie) down, so I don’t see why we couldn’t have passed him. It’s just the situation that happened that ruined our chances.”

WoO LMS regulars Francis and Tim Fuller of Watertown, N.Y., were among the drivers who ran into trouble during the 100.

Francis spun between turns one and two on a lap-27 restart – after apparent contact with Richards – and swept up Shane Clanton of Fayetteville, Ga., and Clint Smith of Senoia, Ga., who slid off the track in turn two to bring out a caution flag. Francis, who was running sixth at the time, pitted to repair some bodywork damage and returned on the lead lap.

Fuller suffered an even tougher fate, spinning out of third place on a lap-40 restart after contact from Hubbard amid a scramble between turns one and two. Fuller restarted at the rear of the field and charged forward to salvage a sixth-place finish with a car he felt was capable of winning the 100.

Frank slipped to seventh at the finish. DIRTcar big-block and 358-Modified star Dale Planck of Homer, N.Y., who made his third dirt Late Model start in a week as a teammate to Rick ‘Boom’ Briggs of Bear Lake, Pa., finished eighth after passing Vic Coffey of Caledonia, N.Y., on the final lap to collect the $500 ‘Bonus Bucks’ cash for being the highest-finishing driver who hasn’t won a WoO LMS A-Main and isn’t ranked among the top 12 in the points standings. Coffey settled for ninth and Francis rounded out the top 10.

Carey Terrance of Hogansburg, N.Y., who competes regularly in Mohawk’s DIRTcar 358-Modified division, drove Chub Frank’s backup car to victory in the 12-lap B-Main. He finished 12th in the 100, remaining on the lead lap until late in the distance.

The WoO LMS heads to Tri-City Speedway in Franklin, Pa., for a big doubleheader on Saturday and Sunday nights (Sept. 4-5) – the sixth annual Oil Region Labor Day Classic presented by Armstrong Cable. A 50-lap A-Main paying $10,000 to win will top each evening’s program.

“This feels great,” said Lasoski. “Lonnie Parsons (Car Owner) deserves a lot more of these. We’ve had a terrible year and want to thank him and Don Lamberti and all the people at Casey’s General Stores and everyone that is involved in this team and makes it strong. This show that we never gave up. Every time you win is great and it definitely builds momentum.”

Lasoski had a big lead coming to the white flag, when the red flag flew, for Lucas Wolfe, who got upside while running in the Top-Five, setting up a final two lap shootout, with Joey Saldana, lining up alongside Lasoski, with Sammy Swindell and Donny Schatz in the second row. Lasoski chose the low side of the track for the double file restart, as he did each and every time when he was leading and quickly jumped to a lead and would pull away on the final circuit aboard the Casey’s General Stores JEI.

“I was going down the back stretch and thinking we might win us one and the red came out, so I did cringe a little bit,” stated Lasoski in Victory Lane. “Our car was good and we could go on the top and the bottom. That’s a testament to my crew and how hard they work and what a good car they gave me tonight.”

Lasoski, who led the final 18 laps on Wednesday night, has finished in the Top-10 in all but one of his 12 starts with the series at the track, with nine of those being Top-Five performances. Lasoski took the lead for the first time on the 19th lap in turns one and two only to have the caution flag fly before that lap was completed, thus placing him back in second on the ensuing double file restart. He then kept pace with Dollansky and once he got around him, the native of Dover, Missouri masterfully worked lapped traffic as the laps wound down.

“Brian (Crockett) does a great job with the track and he gave us a top and a bottom tonight and let us race on this thing,” shared the winner. “I always enjoy coming here to race. Thanks to all the fans for coming out.”

Lucas Wolfe started on the pole and paced the field for the first 10 laps, before Craig Dollansky used a strong restart on the 11th lap to charge by him on the high side of turn two. Dollansky, who wound up running out of fuel on the 36th lap while running third, led 12 laps on Wednesday night.

Donny Schatz charged from the back of the field after getting caught up in a lap-five incident to finish second aboard the Armor All/STP J&J. It was the second consecutive year he came from the back of the pack to finish on the podium at Cottage Grove Speedway, where he scored his first career World of Outlaws A-Feature win in 1998. He originally lined up 15th which helped him earn the KSE Racing Products Hard Charger Award for a series-best sixth time in 2010.

“I just put myself in a beehive there, I don’t know what happened,” said Schatz of the early race incident. “We’ve had to do that here before and it’s a fun little place to race. When you come from the back like that you hope for 50 laps and its fun when it gets like this. My team did a great job and Danny (Lasoski) did a great job tonight. If we keep getting those seconds and thirds, we’ll get the wins.”

Joey Saldana, the current World of Outlaws point leader, finished third in the Budweiser Maxim after lining up eighth, to earn his series leading 33 rd Top-Five finish of the season and gain 10 points on Steve Kinser, who finished eighth on Wednesday night and now has a 26-point advantage over the 20-time series champion, while Jason Meyers who finished sixth, is 39 markers out of the top spot with 16 events remaining in 2010.

“We had a pretty good night,” said Saldana. “We just kind of missed it there. We were close, so I’ll take it. Obviously Donny (Schatz) was pretty good coming from where he did twice. We were trying to be pretty basic tonight. Willie Kahne my crew chief just had a little girl so he was home with her tonight, so it was just Kale (Kahne) Kolten (Gouse) and myself so I’d say it was a pretty good night just going off our notes.”

Schatz lined up on the outside of the second row on the final double file restart with two laps to go, charging by Sammy Swindell to move into third and then getting by Joey Saldana on the final circuit to finish in the runner-up spot. For Schatz, it was his 28th Top-Five finish of the season.

“I knew I was better than Sammy (Swindell) and Joey (Saldana), but I could never really see Danny (Lasoski),” shared Schatz. “When the leader is out front you can see what’s going on behind him, but you can’t see him. Those guys knew where I was going to be on the race track and I had to go somewhere else. We had an awesome car tonight.”

Saldana now has eight career Top-10 finishes at in 10 starts at Cottage Grove Speedway. He worked the high side of the track for a majority of the 40-lap contest as he first battled his way into the Top-Five and then the Top-Three in the late going, as he continues to chase his first World of Outlaws title.

“I wanted to win the race and thought we were in position to win it and just wasn’t good enough,” said Saldana. “I’m not even thinking about points right now, I’m just thinking about what I needed to do to win this race.”

Sammy Swindell finished fourth in the Big Game Treestands Maxim, with Jason Sides fifth in the Wetherington Tractor Service Maxim. Jason Meyers was sixth in the GLR Investments KPC. Paul McMahan was seventh piloting the Great Clips Maxim, with Steve Kinser coming all the way from the 20 th starting spot to finish eighth aboard the Bass Pro Shops Maxim. Brad Sweet came home ninth in the Auto Value/Bumper to Bumper Maxim, with Jonathan Allard rounding out the Top-10 in the Red Line Oil A.R.T.

The World of Outlaws return to action on Friday, September 3 and Saturday, September 4 at Skagit Speedway in Washington.
COTTAGE GROVE SPEEDWAY NOTES
•FAST QUALIFIER: Jason Meyers paced the 30 cars that took time with an AMB i.t. timed lap around the high-banked 1/4-mile oval at 10.411 seconds. For his qualifying effort Meyers earned five bonus points. The next four fastest qualifiers also earned bonus points, including: Craig Dollansky (4), Kraig Kinser (3), Paul McMahan (2) and Jonathan Allard (1).

•COTTAGE GROVE SPEEDWAY QUALIFYING WINNERS: Joey Saldana, Sammy Swindell and Danny Lasoski won heat races. Lucas Wolfe won the dash. Jac Haudenschild won the Last Chance Showdown.

•APPEAL FILED: Kasey Kahne Racing has appealed the five-race suspension and fine that was issued to Brad Sweet following an incident at Nodak Speedway in Minot, North Dakota on August 21. Sweet has thus been reinstated and will be able to compete until the appeal is heard.

Knoxville champion and defending All Star champion and current point leader Tim Shaffer, two-time All Star champion Greg Wilson, Knoxville Nationals Rookie of the Year and Ohio Speedweek champion David Gravel, All Star rookies Cap Henry and Jared Ridge and veteran Bill Rose and more will take on Lernerville champion Danny Holtgraver, local legend Ed Lynch Jr.  and others like Bob Felmlee, Carl Bowser, Andy Priest, and possibly some of the famed PA Posse members. 

The last time the All Stars competed at the fast half-mile, three-time All Star champion Dale Blaney defeated Shaffer, a former Lernerville track champion, in an exciting race.  Shaffer caught Blaney on the white flag lap, executed a slide job in turn two with Blaney pulling back around down the back stretch.  Shaffer tried another move in the final two turns, but Blaney drive back by for his 74th career All Star victory.

For more information go to www.lernerville.com Then its off to the high banks of Attica Raceway Park on Saturday where the local drivers will challenge the All Stars.  It marks the last race of the 2010 season at Attica.

The last time the All Stars visited Attica Raceway Park was to open the Ohio Sprint Speedweek.  Byron Reed, who recently picked up his sixth Attica track title, scored the victory over 12-time Attica champion Mark Keegan and Dean Jacobs who also recorded a victory at Ohios Finest speedplant in 2010.

Reed also defeated the All Stars at Attica earlier in the year at the traditional Sprint Nationals.

Stevie Smith took the Attica Ambush win in 2009 while Dale Blaney picked up the victory in 2008.

The All Star drivers will also have their hands full with Craig Mintz, Bryan Sebetto, and Rob Chaney and Lee Jacobs who have recorded Attica wins in 2010.
