The recent horse trials at Twin Rivers were a huge success. This was the first time the show had used artificial brush from Geranium Street Equestrian. Twin Rivers Ranch is located amidst of California’s agricultural center. Paso Robles was once known as the Almond City for its large concentration of Almond orchards,and now has many local wineries and hay farms. Twin Rivers is a great place to come as a spectator to enjoy watching a friend or family member compete. Visitors can spend the afternoon wine tasting at the many local wineries, golfing, or enjoy going down to old town Paso Robles to do some shopping and view buildings dating back to the 1890’s.

As far as the Artificial hedge that was used there, they went with the custom 20′ brush from Geranium Street Equestrian. This jump brush was designed specifically for the eventing world and for use in cross country jumps. Tommy, the course builder, was a little nervous as the brush did not show up until the night before final inspection for the jumps. As usual, the team pulled together to get the product there on time. Special thanks to Robert Kellerhouse and Bert Wood for helping get the product there on time.

The pictures you see are some new flowers we have in inventory which are specifically picked for use as ground lines on cross country events. A new shipment of hedge mat is also on the way. These products really round out the inventory of Geranium Street Equestrian. The new poles for eventing are also the introduction to our new course building section of the web site.

Plastic fake trees, such as this lovely ti-leaf plant are a good addition to any home. This one is planted outside to show just how real this plant looks in a natural setting. San Diego is a great home for those with allergies, these fake trees may help you with your breathing problems. On the eventing scene, they will be good filler bushes and plants for use on side of the stadium events. These plants are affordable and long lasting. Normally, they would be priced at $30 or $40 Dollars. They are always on sale at Geranium Street Equestrian.

The events in the U.K are going to be a big deal this year for Geranium Street. This is the first complete video of how to turn a normal brush jump into a jump that is ready for artificial hedge. 3 Day Ranch and Galway Downs were both helpful in setting up the cross-country courses with  artificial brush. Bert Wood and Jay Hambley are featured in this video. These two course builders are very well know in the eventing circles. Robert Kellerhouse was very generous and also showed a keen business sense. His seven shows, including Woodside, have been taking on more artificial hedge since its inception. This save the course owner more money each time the brush is used over and over. It also allows the course builders to spend more time grooming the footing for the horses prior to the actual event. The fake brush has been tried and is very easy for the horses to see. This adds to the safety factor of the brush being used in the first place.

Hedge Matt

The event at Three Day Ranch was a huge success for all those involved. Margie put on a great show. Bert Wood was consistant and did bring in some new types of brush for the team to try. The custom 20 brush was a big hit for the jumpers and was said “jump well  and be easy for the horses to see”. The above picture is of some new artificial hedge matt we are bringing to the scene. In addition to this hedge matt we are going to try a grass ball. The picture of the grass ball is below. I don’t know how they are going to get put into the design, but we will leave that to the event decorators.

I guess it is the next picture that is of the grass ball. This picture was just a close up of the new artificial hedge matt. This is going to be great for dressing up the bottoms of the brush jumps and for covering some roll top jumps.

I just acquired some new inventory just in time for the event at 3Day Ranch. I love that ride up over the mountains past Temecula on the way to Palm Springs. I always breath a sigh of relief as I leave the highway behind and am finally on good old fashioned dirt road. This event is a good sized show and is important for us to provide the owner with value and durability with her hedge products.

To do this we added some small filler bushes and a few grass/flower bushes which will stand up to some water. The 20 inch hedge will be used on several jumps and the 17 inch hedge will also make a showing on the lower level jumps. Once again it  is Bert Wood doing the course building and his sidekick Tommy. Course design is done by the world class rider/trainer/designer/  David O’Connor. This Olympian is at the top of his game even in the remote desert high in between Los Angeles and Palm Springs.

Plastic Trees

Plastic Trees are becoming more and more a part of the interior and exterior landscapes. Commercial buildings are using more hybrid models which incorporate plastic or silk materials with real wood. I like these plants and they look real. Termites do like that wood and this leaves me partial to 100%plastic. Fake trees come in many shapes and sizes and there is an artificial tree to fit every corner or your home. Plastic trees do not shed their leaves very often and are very low maintenance.

A nice compliment to these trees are artificial bushes and hedges. These can be mixed around the base of a tree to develope a nice mixture of no maintenance plants. Las Vegas is probably the home to more fake plants than any where I have seen. Millions of square feet of real estate need some decoration. To keep the fantasy alive, many millions of dollars of fake plants have been planted here. Our site does not have that many fake trees on it yet, but we will be trying to get more of our bushes and hedge products to grow up to be trees. In New York and surrounding North Eastern Cities like Philadelphia, Boston, Baltimore and D.C., artificial hedges and mats are help keep things green all year around.  The groundhog has seen its shadow and some nice snow drops and crocus are going to be seen showing up through the snow. These natural plants are very beautiful and after waiting a entire year for them, they are a real treat to see pop up. Many of the equestrian and corporate events are scheduled in the spring to get people out of their offices and into a fresh setting.

Speaking of events, Geranium Street Equestrian has perfected their hedge system and will be marching it across the country to decorate horse shows and trials from Miami to San Francisco. Before this company came along, it was very hard to get a hedge product at the right size, shape and price to make it work in bulk. That is why this company came to be in business. Horse people needed to buy hundreds of flowers at a time and also needed some solutions to dealing with natural vegetation when you only needed it for a few days in one place. Artificial Hedge Matte

Artificial Hedge matting was recently found hiding an ugly pool pump in a yard near Los Angeles. Just a stone throw away in Temecula some more was popping up at a large equestrian event. It seems to me that this form of hedge is gathering steam as the newer generation tries to fined cheaper and easier ways of doing things. Movie sets, corporate gatherings, government events, and many more areas are experiencing artificial hedges, hedge matts and other forms of faux greenery. These fake plants have also been adopted outdoors as the new products start to grow on people. Los Angeles is next for us to plant our brand. We would love to be part of the artificial plant scene. Do not call the people of L.A. superficial or fake just because they enjoy plastic of all varieties. Sometimes it just makes life better.
