But you would find out the hard way that it's not. If you only clock the housing, your oil gear will not pick up any oil and your procharger will eventually seize up due to insufficient lubrication.

Below are the steps to relocating the oil slinger gear to whichever position the bottom of your F1-A is. This is so the gear will pick up oil and spread it to the other parts of the procharger's internals.

I've seen other reclocking methods of P1 and D1SC models, but the F1 is different with the way the oil slinger gear is attached.

Click pictures to enlarge.

Step 1: Remove the procharger from the bracket. Take out all of the allen head bolts holding the 2 pieces of the case together.

Step 2: Remove the back half of the case. I used some flat head screwdrivers and a rubber hammer to help in this process. Be careful with the screwdriver, don't stick them in too far and hurt anything. Also becareful of the o-ring type seal in the front half of the case.

Step 3: Once the back half is completely free, remove it and you can see the internal workings of the F1-A. (In this picture you can also see the "o-ring" type seal I was talking about)

Step 4: Remove the oil slinger gear. It is only pressed in with minimal pressure, you can wiggle it back and for with your hands and it should come out.

Step 5: Losen the 2 allen head bolts holding the oil slinger gear bracket. Then remove them.

Step 6: Pull very EASY on the bracket upwards to slide off of the dowel pins. If you pull too hard on one side it will wedge itself, I found it came off really easy when you are gental with it. If you still can't seem to get it off, just wiggle from each side where the dowels are up, back and forth until it eventually comes off.

Step 7: Once the bracket is off, you will have to make a choice. You need to put the backet in the BOTTOM of whichever way your procharger bracket holds the procharger when installed on the car. You put the bracket in that position.

Step 8: Now is the hard part. You can try to remove the dowels if you want, but I found it impossible. If you have a dowel pin puller tool (cheapest I found was $200) go for it. I just went to the hardware store and got 1/4" rod and made 7/8" long dowels to put in the new location. Then tap them into place, periodically check to make sure the oil slinger bracket will fit over the dowel and flushly when the allen head bolts are screwed back in.

Step 9: Put the oil slinger bracket on in the new location and put the allen bolts back in and tighten them down.

Step 10: Now you just put the oil slinger gear back in the bracket the way it came out, and reinstall the back half of the case. I used a rubber hammer to help seat the case back on. I used some silicone around the edge of the procharger for extra insurance against leaks, you can do this if you want to.

Picture taken while silicone was wet, it doesn't show now that I removed the dried excess.

Step 11: Relocate the drain plug to the bottom of the case where the allen head plug is in the same location you just moved the oil slinger gear to.

Good luck, and also, I accept NO responsibility for any damage or malfunction you may come acrossed during the process of this method. Do at your own risk. (Procharger wanted $289 + shipping & 3 weeks to reclock mine)

In Car Track Video on Slicks *HD*

Here I am racing at Maryland International Raceway for the first time on slicks with the car. Here are some pics of the stuff in the box and then installed. But my wife and I were in the process of moving and my car had a little hiccup. Here is the story:

So after gettin my motor in, I had about 200 miles on it. I was coming home from work on I95 and I hit a "bump in the road" and my rearend started making thumping/clanking noise. So I had it towed home :( about 30 miles ugh!

So anyway, I put the car up on jackstands in my garage and I'm checking the driveshaft and the suspension and the axels and bearings and everything. I eventually just open the rear up. I didn't want to at first because I had royal purple gear oil in there, about $35 worth and I didn't want to buy more lol.

But it had to be done because what I found was a whole lot of illegal rave style partying between my ring gear bolts and differential/ring and pinion!

So as you may be able to see a bunch of the ring gear bolts backed out of the ring gear and were just partying in the rearend. The bolts are from an 8.8 rear rebuild kit from Summit Racing. The heads are 5/8 instead of the 3/4 that Ford has. So I was able to salvage the gears and put new bolts in and everything seems fine so far.

I'm going to eventually put 3.73's back in to get some more topend and not hit redline in 4th gear at the track.

Soooo, till next time...I'll be putting miles on my motor so I can go get it dyno tuned. I CAN'T WAIT!!!

Motor Install Progression Pics

Well, Jason and I have been working on my car the past week at Competition Speed and Sound, also Dale thanks for the help with the xpipe/exhaust!

The motor went in pretty smoothly for the most part. Not any major problems with the install. I got everything all hooked up last night.

After cranking the motor with the coils unplugged and fuel pump fuse out to circulate some oil. I started it up tonight and it idled suprisingly smooth for like 10 seconds then I shut it off because of the stock tune that is still on the car thinking I have 24lb injectors but I really have 60's. Hoping to have a base tune soon so I can start the break in!

Here are a few pics of the progression:

Motor Specs:

9:1 compression,
forged pistons and rods (JLP/manley),
bored .020 over,
new oil pump,
new lifters in the heads (otherwise stock heads),
teksid aluminum block,
stock forged cobra crank,
new seals,
federal-mogul bearings,
heavy duty headgaskets,
new timing chains and tensioners,
ARP 2000 headstuds and rod bolts.

Everything was balanced with a Hines machine.

I think thats about it...lol

I'm hoping for 500rwhp with the P1 and eventually taking the P1 and upping to a D1SC. When I got there they had it all wrapped up nice and tight. I got it up on the truck and strapped down and made my way back down to southern maryland to CSS.

I got it all unloaded and started putting stuff back on the motor. Dont have the intake attached its just sitting on there because it has to be off to hoist the motor back in the car. But here is some photos of the motor as it sits today!

More updates to come!

Click for bigger images:

4/18 UPDATE

Talked to JLP last week and my motor should be ready this monday. I'll probably be running between 12-13psi with the Anderson Powerpipe.

I also cleaned up my timing cover a little bit and put a little polish on it. It's def. not clean as it could be but I am really tired of working on it, plus you won't be able to see much of is with the accessories/procharger in front of it :)

I'm also having some IMRC Deletes made so I'll have a much free'r flowing intake/motor.

I'm still really excited, I can't wait!!!

-Dustin
"Make horsepower, not excuses!"

Cleaned up the engine bay

Well I went and cleaned my engine bay...well, best I could anyway. That thing was DIIIIIRTY! It's still pretty dirty, but not much I can do about it.

I also removed the EGR and Airpump lines from my stock manifolds and went to Lowes to try and find some caps for them so I can delete them permanently. But of course with the luck I have with hardware stores and stuff fitting right on my cars of course the "right size" doesn't fit. UGH!

Oh well, I'll figure something out.

Still waiting to hear from JLP on my motor status and if any headwork needed to be done. There should be alot of nice cars up there making some serious HP!

We are expecting a twin turbo viper making over 1200hp to the rear wheels to show up, some high horsepower supras and cobras, and some AWD cars like the Evo, WRX/STI, 3000GT VR-4 etc.

I'll be going up with my wife in her 2006 Mustang GT. The motor is supposed to go to the machine shop this week. They tore down my motor and apparently the culprit of the low compression on #7 and #8 cylinders was because of cracked ring landings. YUCK!

Anyway, It is a good thing I didn't just replace the headgaskets and try to drive it again, would of been a huge waste of time!

Here is a diagram I made of the compression test I took the day the motor blew:

*PICS* Powdercoated Valve Covers and Intake Manifold!

Went down to Ship Point Machine in Hollywood, MD to pick up my valve covers and intake manifold.

They finished the powdercoating job today, and they do look awesome I must say!

I'm going to sand the fins on the intake manifold to reveal a brushed aluminum finish which I think will accent itself against the matte black. If I switch to a D1SC with the same size pulley I'll probably be around 13-15lbs of boost. But I'm ultimately looking for about 17-18 lbs of boost with out belt slip. But I may also switch to an 8rib pulley setup for more grip on the procharger.

Here is a chart of the RPM vs. Impeller speed of the Procharger:

This is Impeller Speed @ 6,800 RPM - Redline on Mustang Cobra
62,000 = D1SC Maximum Impeller Speed

67,242 = Impeller Speed w/ stock crank pulley and 2.8 pulley
62,759 = Impeller Speed w/ stock crank pulley and 3.0 pulley
58,884 = Impeller Speed w/ stock crank pulley and 3.2 pulley <-optimum
55,407 = Impeller Speed w/ stock crank pulley and 3.4 pulley
45,890 = Impeller Speed w/ stock crank pulley and 4.1 pulley

50,466 = Impeller Speed w/ 10% crank pulley and 4.1 pulley
60,919 = Impeller Speed w/ 10% crank pulley and 3.4 pulley <-optimum
64,741 = Impeller Speed w/ 10% crank pulley and 3.2 pulley
69,003 = Impeller Speed w/ 10% crank pulley and 3.0 pulley
73,931 = Impeller Speed w/ 10% crank pulley and 2.8 pulley

The 2nd part of the chart is with a different crank pulley that I may get when switching to an 8rib setup. So once the money gets in my pockets, its right back to procharger for a D1SC and pulley!!!

till next time...Make Horsepower not excuses!
