As I have mentioned before, my wife likes to have the TV news on when she is cooking, to listen to the world events. Usually it is on NBC. Tonight Lester Holt and the field reporter were lamenting the "Russian disinformation/propaganda" that they claim is so prevalent today. One of the specific "false Russian reports" is the news that Ukraine has Biological Research Facilities in their country (Of course our CIA has nothing to do with any of that 🙄). The NBC reporter made it quite clear that this was just Russian propaganda and news manipulation designed to justify their efforts in Ukraine. The reporter, government officials, and others interviewed stated that those spreading this "disinformation" should be held to account. I agree, anyone lying to the citizens of the United States should be held to account.

Now then, let's look at who the liars are. I am including in this post a video clip of our own Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs, as she testified before a Senate subcommittee. Compare that to the clip (Also included) from tonight's edition of NBC Nightly News (Move to the 13:57 mark on the time line). So, who is lying? Who is spreading propaganda and false news? Who needs to be punished? Note that in both clips we are hearing from U.S. government officials. Either a) Some one is lying or b) Someone doesn't know what the hell they are talking about, or both. Which do you think it is?

The bottom line for me is this -

You may be an idiot if:

1. You think the MSM in the U.S. doesn't lie to you on the regular.

2. You think the MSM in the U.S. doesn't propagandize every day.

3. You think we should get involved in another country's war.

4. You think your own government doesn't lie to you on the regular.

5. You think your own government doesn't propagandize you every day.

Seriously, how much evidence of lying and propaganda does it take before you begin to see it?

Book review: "Powhatan: A Bicentennial History" by Richard T. Couture

Just finished reading "Powhatan: A Bicentennial History" by Richard T. Couture.

 
This 527 page tome has the distinction, for me anyway, of being both dry and dull, and fascinating/interesting at the same time. The dull comes from the authors delving into much of the minutiae of the  county records. Who bought how many acres in which location, the pay of county officials, etc. Knowledge that can be helpful, but certainly not as interesting as the people and their stories.

The interesting parts were the stories of the founding, the first communities, the dealings with the Indians, the personalities of the settlers, the Huguenots, and much more. For example, did you know that the current Powhatan Courthouse used to be named Scottville? Philip St. George Cocke, a Brigadier General in the Confederate Army, and Powhatan resident, helped organize Virginia's defenses along the Potomac River early in the war. He would later commit suicide at his mansion, Belmead, in Powhatan County. And who knew that the University of Richmond began as Dunlora Academy in 1830, in Powhatan. It would move to Henrico County in 1832 and eventually become the University of Richmond.

There are many more such interesting stories about Powhatan and its citizens. If you can plod through the excessive minutiae you will be rewarded with the fascinating stories of the growth and stories of the county and its people.

The Transparency is Stunning

This video covers a lot of things that I have been trying to get people to think about for the past two years. I know that many of you just don't want to think about it, but whether you like it or not I have been proven right.

First let me say that I wish Tucker would stop referring to our country as a "democracy," it is not. We are a REPUBLIC! A Constitutional Republic. That needs to be said and often. As for the rest of the video he is right on. Did you notice who was arresting people for violating tyrannical orders? Do you still believe that the police are there for YOUR protection? I know this bothers you, that you don't like to have this pointed out to you, but you are simply going to have to deal with reality at some point. The police do not protect who you think they protect.

Notice the drones being used to spy on American citizens? Remember when I told you this was going to happen, but you called me a paranoid conspiracy nut? Yeah, well, if you have the stones to do so I'll accept your apology in the comment section. Are you even remotely beginning to see how urge to tyranny takes hold at even the smallest level of government? School boards that think they have powers that were never given to them. Do you still wish to believe that teacher's unions give a single sh*t about students? And by the way, why do we allow public sector workers, paid with our tax dollars, to even have a union?

Are you not yet able to see the transparency of who these people really are? Suddenly all these democrats trying to convince us that "the science has changed?" It's just a mere coincidence that this is a mid-term election year and the polling shows that the democrats are going to take a hit. But if you're a republican I wouldn't get too excited. Your party has proven that it is nothing but a bunch of spineless cowards, who merely go along to get along. As long as I keep my position and its perks then it's all good. And Victor Davis Hanson makes an excellent point. We need to break up these bureaucratic monopolies. If a business in the private sector held the kind of monopoly that our government does you would demand that it be broken up right away. Why then do you tolerate this from people who have the desire to run your lives, to your own detriment?

Maybe it's time to admit that this experiment in self-government has failed. There are obviously far too many Americans who are scared to death of freedom and the responsibilities that entails.

Is It Really Racism or Is It Something Else?

I still see local news stories about it, usually related to the removal of Confederate statues. There are still people making their snarky posts on Face Book and other social media about it. The absolute ignorance, WILLFUL ignorance, is astounding. But, ignorance has never stopped people from making stupid statements before and this subject is no different.

You have seen it, heard it, experienced it as well, from one side or the other. Here are a couple of examples:

"If you support the use of the Confederate Battle Flag then you are a racist." or "If you want the Confederate Statues to remain then you are a racist."

Sound familiar? There are other variations on this theme, but the bottom line is that if you support either or both then you must want slavery reinstituted or you agreed with slavery in the past AND you are a racist. Knowing nothing else about you the hate-filled individual making those statements thinks that they know you, know your heart, and know what you think. These are the same people who otherwise will chastise you for making assumptions about others or "painting with a broad brush." I have experienced this myself, within my own family and among people who were once friends. People who should know better, but have allowed their politics and their TV to hold sway over them.

Don't bother trying to explain your reasons to them, their minds are made up and nothing you can say will be heard or considered. Depending on whom you care to cite there were anywhere from 4.8% to close to 30% slave owners in the South in 1860. Of course no one ever talks about the slave owners in the North, how Northern businessmen made $Millions from the slave trade, how tribal leaders in Africa traded with white slavers from Europe to rid themselves of those they captured in tribal warfare. The point being that there is so much more people need to learn, must learn, from history, and there is plenty of blame to go around. But again, this requires a mind that is willing to hear, explore, and learn. If someone has shut down and refuses to learn there is little one can do to break through that wall of ignorance.

But for the sake of this article let's go with the high end number and say that 30% of white Southerners owned slaves, as of 1860. That means that %70 did NOT own slaves. In U.S. elections if a candidate were to get 70% of the vote it would be considered a landslide, no, an avalanche. Now the response to this might be, "But, Floyd, those who didn't have slaves wanted to, they just didn't have the money." This takes us back to the "ignorance factor." Those of us who have read more than one book on American history, those of us who do not learn our history from the TV or from a political activist, know that this is simply not true. We have read the personal letters, the newspaper editorials, the speeches made, the dairies, and other documents from Southern men and women decrying slavery and working toward its end. Because your government schools have not taught you this you may not know about it, but the history is quite clear. This information remains out there and is accessible, for those who care to learn. But learning requires effort and it can be scary, as it might require you to alter your firmly held beliefs.

I did Civil War reenacting for twenty-years. I did history programs for many schools, all the way up to and including college level courses. I worked as a volunteer for the National Park Service at many of its Eastern Theater battlefield parks. I have met many intelligent, interesting, and fascinating people. People who share my love of history, American in general and Southern in particular. I have never - NEVER - met anyone during those years, or since, who thought slavery was a good thing, who want to see slavery again, who want to be a slave, or who hate black people. NEVER! No one I know has ever been a member of the KKK or has worn blackface for any reason. Can you point to someone who has? What political party might they be in?

So, you may ask, "Then why do you want the statues to stay?" or "Why do you support the use of the Confederate Battle Flag." My initial, visceral response is, "Because this is America and we have freedom of speech." We have that right. The people of the South were AMERICANS, just as those in the North were. But it goes even deeper than that. The vast majority of the men who fought, and the women who supported their efforts, were not fighting for slavery. I know, I know, that's not what your TV said, that's not what the activist at the rally said. But the fact remains, and is verifiable, that they saw themselves as fighting for their right to state sovereignty, for freedom, just as their fore-fathers had done in the Revolution. An army in blue was invading their homeland and they sought to repulse it. It is no more complicated than that. Yes, there were those who wanted to preserve slavery. Slave owners, politicians who got money from those slave owners, Northern business interests who benefited from slavery and the cheap resources the South provided them, they certainly were a part of the mix, but they were by no means the majority. It has been my contention all along that rather than tear down, why not "add to." There are plenty of Americans, white, black, and others, who deserve to be remembered and memorialized. Do as the people of the South did after the war. Create your societies, raise the money, and produce your statues and have them placed where they should be. Let's honor and learn from and about all who have contributed to the creation of the United States of America.

I, and others, respect and seek to honor the sacrifices made by those who went to war to protect, as they saw it, their homes and their rights. These Southern men and women believed that the Constitution was the law of the land and that it allowed for the state sovereignty, the "state's rights," that they were seeking to preserve. Those who call us racists might choose not to believe any of this, but again, the truth is out there if you are willing to seek it. You need to educate yourself about the Articles of Confederation and why there was a move to a Republican Constitution. Know more about the Constitutional Convention, the Federalist Papers, and the Ratification Process. What did the states want before they would ratify the new Constitution? Why do we have a Bill of Rights? Was there a movement afoot in the South to end slavery? Were slaves being held in the North? Did Lincoln end slavery in those Northern states? Was/is racism strictly a "Southern thing?"

There is so much to unwrap, as regards our nation's history leading up to and including the War for Southern Independence. I challenge those of you who think they know all about it to expand your horizons and take the time to learn more. Read about the Morrill Tariff, learn more about Northern ship builders who benefited from the slave trade, read about how the average Southern soldier had no interest in slaves or slavery, but was simply trying to repel an invading army, and so much more. Stop believing the TV, the politicians, the activists, all of whom have a vested interest in keeping you ignorant. I will recommend some worthwhile books for your edification at the end of this article. You may choose to read them or not. But please stop pretending that you know something that you don't. Bad decisions are made with bad information and we have seen far too much of that recently.

What Will They Do?

I want you to watch this video. It's only a little over 12-minutes, so I know you can do it. I especially want you to pay attention to the part about Baltimore, MD schools and the students they produce. I will bring that together with a note from our nation's past.

Prior to our War Between the States it was illegal in much of the country to educate black people. This was especially true in the South, but that didn't stop people like Thomas J. Jackson from teaching young black children to read, despite the fact that he could have gone to jail for doing so. One of the big concerns among the Radical Republicans, who were pushing for full freedom and citizenship for freed slaves was their education. Now that they are free how will they be able to participate in our society if they can't read, write or do math? Thus the Freedmen's Bureau was established.

Chief among the Bureaus duties was setting up schools, not just for children, but for adult blacks, as well. In fact, the freedmen and women themselves contributed greatly to establishing these schools and MAKING SURE THEY WERE ATTENDED! They knew the importance of that education and they did not have to be forced to go. Despite poor resources, lack of supplies, and an antagonistic view from many in the white communities around them, the children and adults made every effort to attend school as often as possible. Walking great distances in many cases to get to the closest school. They wanted that education, they knew how important it was.

Now then, look at student bodies today in places like Baltimore, MD, Richmond, VA, Chicago, IL, and see how that attitude toward education has changed. Indeed, the local school administrations have a lot of responsibility for this, but in order for students to learn they have to WANT TO LEARN! They have to see it as important to them and their future. Their parents, or whomever is responsible for them at home, must also assume their responsibility in this mix. You ask any teacher today, who is willing to be honest and doesn't fear losing their job, if they see a "determined to learn" attitude among the majority of their students, especially in many urban areas. That's right, I said it, and you can call me any names you want to, but you know damn well I am right.

As a historian and teacher this has been a constant source of frustration for me. When I would put together a lesson for my class, one especially geared toward my black students (In many classes I had no white students), a lesson designed to help them understand the past and their ancestors and what they went through, only to have it ignored, because "I don't need to know that stuff." Tucker Carlson asks a poignant and necessary question at the end of this video. How will this inability to read affect those children? What kind of future can they expect? They will no doubt demand more pay at whatever job they may get, a higher minimum wage!, but if they can't do the job or grow in the job, because of their lack of education, what will they do?

It is long past time that the public education system in this country stopped playing "woke games" with our students and their futures and got back to a traditional liberal arts education. TEACH them what they need to know to succeed. If they learn and do well and can become a productive, self-supportive citizen, then their self-esteem will be just fine. You can believe that.

When the News Lies

I swear I am going to need a new TV if I keep listening to the news. My wife likes to have the TV on the news when she is cooking, so she can find out what is happening in the World. Yes, I have tried to explain to her that she is getting a slanted, dare I say - Tainted, view of things, but that is her choice. Especially now that we have stopped our subscription to the Richmond Times-Dispatch after 30+ years. Although it has become quite the rag in recent years, she liked the ads and the coupons for shopping. But, at almost $500 a year now it just is not worth it.

Anyway, as you might expect NBC, those paragons of objective journalism, had a story about "domestic extremism." Now I'll give you just a brief moment to try and figure out who they were talking about. *Cue the Jeopardy theme song* If you said BLM or Antifa you are way off base. Nope, today's "extremists" are those who protest in favor of liberty. Those at school board meetings or at the local seat of government or at state capitals who march and speak and demand that government mind its own damn business, they are the extremists. And if I hear one more ass hat TV reporter call the January 6, 2020 protests at the nation's capital an "Insurrection" I'm going to throw something at my TV.

Hey, news flash, super geniuses, THAT was NOT an Insurrection. I wish it had been, I might have attended. Now there were certainly those who went too far and some of the days events were indeed "riotous," but an insurrection? Hardly. But there it is, your proof that our nation's news media has an agenda and they will not let facts get in the way of advancing it. I can only hope that one day, sooner rather than later, we will learn the truth of that day's events and EXACTLY who was involved in its formation.

Remember the majority of the year 2020, when Antifa and BLM, and liberal activists of every stripe were in the streets burning, looting, vandalizing, and assaulting/killing? I remember. I also remember that the same news media that is now labeling those who protest for liberty as "extremists" or "insurrectionists," simply referred to the left's efforts as "mostly peaceful protests." Anyone else remember? The media also told us that those riots were justified, as the people were frustrated and felt that they were "not being heard." Well, guess what, that frustration can apply to others, as well. Do you think that those who love and desire liberty are not frustrated right now? Do you think that they feel that they are being "heard?"

I would be real careful just how far you push those people, because they have something that your friends on the left don't, and they know how to use it.

Just Think About It

People say to me, "Floyd, it's Christmas or New Years Eve or (pick a holiday), why don't you relax, take a break for a while?"

Look, I realize that in the grand scheme of things I am a nobody. I have no power, I am not filthy stinking rich, I cannot make anyone do anything, nor should I be able to, but I do have a voice and I intend to use that voice to reach anyone I can. Maybe all I can do is plant the occasional "seed of knowledge" and get someone to start thinking about an issue in a way they haven't before. All I can do is try to use the tools and skills that I have, limited though they may be, to let others know that they are not alone in their frustration and beliefs. 

The bottom line is that those who seek more power, those who want to take more of your money, your rights, your liberty, are not "resting." They don't take time off, they don't give a tinker's damn about you or what you think or want, so all I can do is try to provide another side of the story, of the issues that face us, and hope something takes root. I can only hope that I have had some impact, some influence in giving others some food for thought. At the end of the day I do not seek to force anything on anyone, as others want to do. I do not expect others to live their lives as I want them to, or to "do as I do." 

All I want is for people to understand what liberty means., what true freedom is. To me it means that you can live your life as you see fit, the only proviso being that you harm no one and you do not infringe on the rights of others, either directly or by voting for those who would do the infringing on your behalf. I hope that has been clear up to this point. If I have not been clear, if you remain confused about what I mean, please let me know, so that I may clear up any confusion.

In the end, while many may disagree with me or even think I'm a nut, I am not going to shut up and go away. I will continue to use my voice to do what I can to influence the continuing struggle for liberty.

Are They Really Serious?

The signs that the virus, and our government's approach to it, are just so much bullshit, are all around us. Now bear in mind that the narrative, the daily drumbeat, is that this is the deadliest virus in the history of mankind. Almost a million deaths in the U.S. alone (If you wish to believe the government numbers, and I don't). Lock downs, quarantines, masks, shots, distancing, etc., etc.

So, I go to visit my father today, in a nursing home. As expected we had to wear a mask. OK, their place, their rules, and I know it makes my father feel better. Anyway, we go through the protocol, answer the questions, get our temperature, sign the form, and go in. At the end of our visit, as we are standing at the door of the facility to leave, I ask the receptionist where the Hazmat container is. She gives me the curious dog head tilt, because she can't imagine what I mean by that. I hold the mask out and say, "Well, we're dealing with the deadliest virus ever known to man, you do have a Hazmat container for these quite possibly tainted masks, don't you?" She rolled her eyes and said that I could use the trash can by the door. The trash can was of the small, plastic, bathroom-type, with a trash bag lining it. The can was OVERFLOWING with debris, including other used masks. Now if one has been paying attention to the government/media/big pharma complex throughout the cluster-F that has been the response to the virus, one has heard the doom-sayers and their prognostications of gloom and doom. So, if this is indeed the deadliest virus ever then why all of the exceptions made in dealing with it? Wouldn't you think that these things would be more strictly enforced, for the greater good, of course?

Why the school bands wearing a mask with a HOLE CUT IN IT, so they can play their instruments? Why the lunacy of having to wear a mask from the door of the restaurant to the table, but then you can take and keep it off? WHY no Hazmat containers if this virus is so virulent and so easily transferred to others? And on and on and on....

Could it be, is it just possible, is it beyond the realm of possibilities, that we are simply being lied to and manipulated by people and entities that have been lying to and manipulating us for decades?

Politics Makes People Stupid

Politics really does make people stupid. Any Republicans remember when the orange guy told you that he was going to "fast track" the vaccine for you, so that the ridiculous regulatory system wouldn't keep it from you for years and years? You sang his praises and called him the greatest president ever. Remember? I remember?

 
 
Of course the Democrats, including Biden and that Harris woman exclaimed loud and proud - I'm not going to take that shot if it hasn't been properly tested! And the party faithful fell right in line. Then Biden was put in office and suddenly, to the Democrats, that very same vaccine was just the Bee's knees, wasn't it.

Ah, but then the Republicans also changed their tune, proving that they can be just as partisan and just as.....stupid, as Democrats. In recent news the orange guy has been taking heat from the Republican faithful, those who raised him up as the greatest president ever. They have called him names, they have stripped their support from him, his place as the best among the pantheon of presidents is in jeopardy. Why? Because now the same guy who pushed for fast-tracking, who received so much praise from the Republican party faithful for getting that shot to market faster, has..............taken the shot and is pushing others to do the same.

Do I need to repeat that? Do you understand what is happening? Do you even begin to understand why I so loath party politics? The inconsistencies, the hypocrisies, the double-standards, the lies, the pretzel logic, it is all just too much for me to tolerate, for anyone with a functioning, objective brain, to deal with.

So, to summarize -

Trump says he will fast track vaccine: Democrats hate it, Republicans love it.

Biden in office -

Take the shot: Republicans hate it, Democrats love it.

Trump says he took the shot and you should too: Republicans lose their minds, Democrats are surprised, but now use that to throw in the face of Republicans.

And the madness that is U.S. politics continues unabated. As for me, I know better than to trust those who are pushing this poison and I will not get it, no matter which party pushes it. Beam me up, Scotty.

Book Review: "Richmond - The Story of a City" by Virginius Dabney

Just finished reading "Richmond - The Story of a City" by Virginius Dabney. A wonderful book about the history of Richmond up to the mid-1970's.

I enjoyed reading about places I have seen and visited for years and learning more about the history of each. Dabney's writing flows well and creates in the reader an anxiousness to get to the next page. The history of Richmond is a rich tapestry of people, places, and the growth of a small village into a large city. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and recommend it to others.

I must admit, however, that it is somewhat depressing to see how the city grew and was once a great destination for visitors, and to see what it has become in recent years. Perhaps things will get better.

WHY?!

I, and others, have been trying to get our fellow Americans to open their eyes and understand that they are being lied to, manipulated, and used. Many of them refuse to believe me and like to call me names like conspiracy nut, crazy, ignorant, etc. Now understand that I really don't care what they call me, as I am confident in what I know and I will not be swayed by their childish efforts.

Now comes one more example of evidence that I have been right all along. If any of them can look at this and still state that they believe the government/media/big pharma complex then they are simply lost and there is no hope of ever reaching them. I realize that thinking is difficult for many Americans, as they have not been taught critical thinking by our public school system. They are simply told to believe what the G/M/BP complex tells them to think and never to question what they are told. 

I am attaching four articles from different sources. There are others, but these should, at the very least, provide impetus to look further, if the truth is what you seek. We are told to "TRUST THE SCIENCE" are we not? It is the default setting response from those on the left. You know, science, like when you are told that men can be women and vice-versa. Trust the science, read the data, your government cares about you, the media reports the news, big pharma wouldn't lie to you, blah blah blah. THEN WHY WOULD THE FDA WANT TO HIDE THAT DATA FOR 55-75 YEARS?! 

Come on leftists, answer the damn question! Have you been one of those who has doubted the FDA to big pharma pipeline? You aren't even interested in knowing why the FDA, CDC, and other government agencies lie on behalf of big pharma? The fact that many of those government workers wind up working for big pharma companies isn't the least bit suspicious to you? If this doesn't open your eyes then you are beyond help. Seriously, answer me, why would the government hide this data for over 55 years? What do they not want you to see? What are they afraid of? Do you even care?

Trust

Trust.

Whom do you trust? Your family, some or all of them? A friend? A co-worker? Your doctor? Your political representative? A journalist? Anyone? No one? In our lives there are often people whom we trust. We trust them with secrets, with personal problems, with issues we don't feel comfortable talking about with anyone else. We trust them with our lives and our love. We tell them things we would not tell anyone else. We return that trust by doing the same for them. Trust is the basis for any good, healthy, lasting relationship.

In life we also meet and have to deal with many people of low character. Despicable, ugly people who will abuse your trust, for any number of reasons. They tell you that you can trust them, but they take that trust and twist it to suit themselves and their ends. Once you realize that trust has been abused you are wise to distance yourself from such people, no matter who they are or what they do. People who abuse the trust of others are among the lowest of the low and deserve any calamity that comes their way, as a result of abusing that trust.

Aside from the obvious hurt caused by friends and family who abuse your trust, there are those whose trust can have an even greater impact on your life, and your health. You have to be able to trust your doctor, no matter which discipline he/she practices. Their decisions and advise can have a direct impact on your health and safety, even your longevity. Are those doctors basing their advise on what is best for you or what is best for their bottom line? Do those doctors actually know what they are talking about? Have they studied the illness they are advising on or are they simply regurgitating what someone else has told them to say, based on the symptoms you present? Do those doctors care about your input and concerns or do they simply demand that you do as you're told because, they are the doctor?

The news media, local and national, do you trust either of them? Should you be able to trust them, as the information they provide helps you in making daily decisions on myriad subject matter? You can't be everywhere and hear/see everything, so you need an objective, honest, and fair third party to gather that information and present it to you honestly and without any other agenda, aside from simply getting the facts to you. This is supposed to be the media's responsibility. Do you trust them?

Your elected representatives, local or national, do you trust them? Are they telling you the truth? Are they telling you what you NEED to know, rather than what they WANT you to know? Are they governed by a political party or agenda? Do they allow others, and the money that is thrown at them, to color the information they give you, or are facts and the truth their guiding light? 

Have any of the above mentioned ever lied to you before? Provided bad information, either knowingly or by mistake? How many chances at deceit are you willing to allow them, especially as it affects your life, your health, your future? When any of them abuse your trust do you have a right to separate from them? To complain? To stop listening to them? If their lies lead to dire consequences for you, or someone you love, should they be held accountable for those lies? What form should that accountability take? Should those lies be overlooked, simply because of who the liars are or are they as liable for those lies as you and I would be had we been the liar?

I am including this video for your viewing education. Watch it. Watch more than once if need be. Think about it. I mean really THINK! Are we being lied to or deceived in any way? Who benefits from those lies and how? Do you truly believe that we have been told the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth? Why are no major media outlets investigating these occurrences? Why are those who dare to ask questions or show any skepticism about this called the crazy ones? Do major media outlets benefit from their association with big pharmaceutical companies? Do politicians benefit from their association with big pharmaceutical companies? Do doctors benefit from their association with big pharmaceutical companies? Do big pharmaceutical companies benefit from selling more of their products, even when you are forced to buy/use them? Are large amounts of money involved in these associations? Are those large amounts of money more important to these entities than your health and safety? 

If there is a virus that is killing people, and something has to be done to stop it, then shouldn't we also be concerned, and try to stop it, if the "cure" itself is also harming/killing people? Are there other ways to address this issue that actually reduces the risks to your health? If so then why are we not being told about them by these same entities? Could it be that they don't benefit as much from the alternatives? Why are those who dare to ask questions and point out those alternatives demonized and marginalized? Has there ever been a time in the history of science and health research that there is only one answer that has remained immutable? Aren't medical and scientific changes investigated and changed, because of new knowledge, because of anecdotal evidence that has gathered over time? Why is it any different now? Remember when kids in America used to be sprayed with DDT? The science said it worked, until further evidence showed that it didn't.

People are certainly dying from this Covid virus, no one argues that. I certainly don't. I would argue that the numbers are not what the government/media tell us they are, but just as people die from the Flu, so too they die from Covid. BUT, people are also dying from the vaccine that is supposed to help. The anecdotal evidence keeps piling up, but many won't consider it until it affects someone they care about. Too much money is being made by too many people right now, so the desire to look further into this is relegated to the back burner. One day the truth about all of this will out. When that day comes it is my fervent and compelling desire that those responsible for the lies, and the lives those lies cost, will be held accountable in the strongest possible terms.

How The Left Changes The Language

I have been telling you this for years and finally there are more people awakening to it. Those who wish to control, to demonize, to marginalize, to paint others as "the problem," simply change the language. When you own the media, as Ben Swann points out in this video, and you pound that message home every day, those who only get their news and marching orders from the TV start to believe it. Fortunately there are other venues by which we can reach people, and there are many of us trying to reach them.

Here in the Richmond, VA area we see news every day of black people killing EACH OTHER. At the same time the media continues the narrative of racism, white supremacist terrorism, all while black on black crime is running rampant. All you have to do is watch the news to see it. As the media describes it 2020 saw multiple examples of "protests," while January 6 was a riotous "insurrection." White racism is the biggest threat to black people, but it is not white racists driving into urban areas and killing black people. Those of us who recognize the lies for what they are, and then point them out to our fellow citizens, are called "the problem." You see, we are not among the easily duped or controlled.

You know I am not  Trump fan, but simply by pointing out the left's hypocrisy and double-standards I am listed among those who need to be "deprogrammed.' Many of you are, as well. And the media lies and narrative(s) continue apace, and there are still plenty of Americans who buy the bullshit. Just watch this video and see how Ben Swann buttresses our thoughts and offers an example of how we can continue to fight back.

Equal Justice?

If you ever doubted that the left lies, and that it continues the lie even when they are proven wrong, just watch any of the video from the Rittenhouse trial. Even back in 2020 much of the actual video of the event was available and seen all over the Internet, but now comes the trial, and the introduction of EVIDENCE, and the testimony not only of witnesses, but of one of the men Rittenhouse shot.

By any definition of self-defense Rittenhouse was justified in his actions and should be acquitted. The prosecutor should be disbarred for malfeasance. This case should never have been brought to trial at all. But the left continues to push the lie, and the oddest part of their lie is the "race angle." A white man shot three WHITE MEN, but somehow that is because Rittenhouse is a racist? How do these people look at themselves in the mirror? Am I too out of touch? Has this kind of lying become so acceptable that it is just seen as normal?

I have heard the complaints of the left for many years. Hell, I actually agree with them in many cases. Our justice system has been terribly one-sided. People have been unjustly convicted of crimes and punished with too severe sentences, because of race or politics. Don't deny it, we all know it has happened. The question then becomes, "How do we fix it? How do we keep this from happening again?" TO ANYONE! Do we do it by acknowledging the problems of the past and determining to stop it? By not allowing politics, agendas, race, sex, or any other extenuating circumstance to enter into a trial, but instead base it on the law and the evidence?

Or do we do as is being done now - GET EVEN! Rather than fix the system to make it fair for all instead we will see to it that others face the same unfairness, the same lies, the same agendas, the same racism? Rather than take the high ground and stop the madness it would seem that there are those who simply want to see the injustices applied to others in an effort to get even. Is that how we fix things? Where have the grown-ups gone? Where are the mature, reasonable minds? Why do we continue to allow this sort of thing to go on?

EQUAL JUSTICE UNDER THE LAW! That should apply to everyone, no mater who you are, what you look like, where you come from, or what you are accused of. Either we mean it when we say it and we make it happen or things are simply going to get worse for ALL AMERICANS.

Book Review: "An American Sickness - How Healthcare Became Big Business and How You Can Take It Back" by Elisabeth Rosenthal

There are not many among us who would disagree with the notion that our healthcare system in the U.S. needs fixing. The question is how? There are those who would submit that the government needs to get its hands deeper into the machinations of the industry, while others are for a free market solution. However, one might also wonder how we got to where we are and why?

The author delves deeply into the reasons that explain how we got here. This reader has been beating the drum for years now, but the author has the training and background to buttress the arguments made. The fact is that our healthcare industry has long since moved away from the doctor-patient relationship, a relationship designed to provide for the best health of the patient, and has become all about the bottom line. Whether it's your primary care physician, your local hospitals, the specialist(s) you see, or the drug companies, their first and primary concern is "how much money can we make?"

The author explores doctors attitudes toward patients, listing them as either "compliant patients," those who do as they are told and don't ask questions, and "Difficult patients," those who dare to ask questions and don't always follow instructions to the letter. You probably know of this attitude among doctors as "The God Complex." Hospitals and their administrators have a light shown upon them for the "for profit" businesses that they are, in spite of many hospitals listing themselves as being "non-profit." The recent Covid-19 "pandemic" and the extra money hospitals get for admitting patients as "Covid-patients" and the extra money for using ventilators are just two examples of how hospitals look out for their bottom line, as opposed to the best interests of the patient. Big pharmaceutical companies are shown for what they are, as treating patients long-term, rather than eradicating illness is better for the profit margin. HMO's and other "health insurance coverage" plays its role, as well.

Where this reader disagrees with one of the author's conclusions is when she determines that the government needs to take a more regulatory role, while overlooking all of her previous writing about how the government has contributed to this morass. However, this is the only disagreement we have. The author presents the problem(s) in great detail and uses many examples from people who have suffered at the hands of our healthcare industry. She then finishes the book by offering many ways that we, as consumers, can effect positive change that would not require government intervention. Much of this involved you, as the patient, no longer being compliant and just doing as the guy in the white coat tells you.

Ask questions, demand answers, what does that treatment cost, get an itemized bill, make sure the hospital knows that you will not be seen by any doctor or specialist who is not in your healthcare network, and many other worthwhile examples. This book will make your blood boil, but it is educational, well written, and offers solutions to the problems. I recommend that each of you get it and read it, if you want to effect the kind of change that we all want to see, and to keep the government out of the mix.

The Cycle Continues?

So, here's how I see it.

Right now the cycle is in the "democrats in power and pissing people off mode." The republicans are doing what they usually do in that mode - Talking the talk. This cycle has been going 'round and 'round for as long as I have been alive. When the republicans have power the cycle is that they are pissing people off and the democrats are talking the talk.  And so on and so on and .......

Right now the republicans, in Virginia anyway, seem to be making some inroads and may pull out an upset in November. Only time will tell. McAwful is certainly not doing himself any favors with the stupid shit he is saying. My guess is that he, and the democrats, have gotten so cocky now that they think they can say anything and not pay the price for it. Again, time will tell. But let's assume that Youngkin and the R's do win and change the look of the GA in Virginia. I know a lot of you will be dancing in the streets. 

However, as I see it, nothing will change. The cycle will simply start it's next, predictable phase. For all the talk from the Republicans they will DO NOTHING! The government will not shrink, taxes will still be wasted on buying votes instead of what they are supposed to be used for, the government will simply shift to spending money on things that the R's like, until the next phase of the cycle, when the D;'s will be back in power. And so it goes.

This happens, because the vast majority of voters, once their guys are in office, get lazy, complacent, and expect the government to take care of them. As long as "their guys" are in power they just expect that everything will be just fine. And thus, the cycle begins anew. True liberty, real freedom, the kind born of personal responsibility and vigilance, will once again take a backseat to party loyalty and the hope that "their party" will make everything alright.

As long as we continue to rely on a party mechanism to provide "freedom" we are never going to have freedom, as our Founders envisioned. Change my mind.

Book Review: The Problem With Lincoln by Thomas J. DiLorenzo

Book review:

Just finished "The Problem with Lincoln" by Thomas J. DiLorenzo. DiLorenzo is a senior fellow at the Ludwig von Mises Institute and a retired economics professor after 41-years. This is his third book on Lincoln, having originally started to write about the economic causes of the Civil War and quickly discovering Lincoln's behind the scenes machinations.

Well written and copiously cited, the author goes into great detail about the "real" Lincoln and exposes the "Lincoln myth" for the charade that it was and is. He also brings together today's current all-powerful government with its beginnings during the Lincoln administration. We read about the Corwin Amendment, which was Lincoln's effort to establish that the federal government could NEVER interfere with slavery in the states in which it already existed. We see how Lincoln supported the Fugitive Slave Act, even in Washington, D.C. during the war. We are shown examples of Lincoln's belief that the white race was superior to the black race and he wanted to keep it that way. You will see Lincoln's efforts to keep blacks, slave or free, out of Illinois and his further efforts to repatriate them to Africa or other warm-weather climes.

Lincoln's obfuscation and twisting of logic to claim that the United States was not a "voluntary union," but a consolidated republic, thus eliminating the right of secession is clearly spelled out. In fact, this reader was astounded at the lies told by Lincoln and those who, to this day, supported those lies. The myth of Lincoln "the savior," and how and why that myth came to be, is made clear. If you wonder why we have the big government tyranny that we have now, you can trace it back to Lincoln and the Republicans of the mid-nineteenth century.

This book is recommended for anyone who wants to learn more about their nation's history and those who influenced it. It should open your eyes.

Book Review: "Weekend Warrior - Over Fifty Years Reliving American History" by Lawrence J. Bopp

Just finished reading "Weekend Warrior - Over Fifty Years of Re-living American History" by Lawrence J. Bopp.

Full disclosure, Larry is an old friend and fellow reenactor, so this review may be a bit biased. What a fun book to read. It did bring back a lot of memories, as many of the people and events that Larry mentions are also known to me. My reenacting friends will enjoy reliving many of these same memories, as well. There were also many surprises, as Larry goes into great detail about incidences during his career and some of his personal life.

Those who have never donned the wool will still enjoy getting insights into what it is that reenactors do and why. Questions about how to get into the hobby, where to get gear/clothing, how to learn from research, etc., are addressed. Not to mention many of the antics that he and his group(s) got into. You see, Larry didn't just do Civil War reenacting. He has portrayed characters from every American war from the Revolution through WWII. While I participated in Civil War reenacting for twenty-years, Larry is still at it, after fifty-years, and still going.

As noted, a fun read and one that reenactors and civilians alike can enjoy.

Why Would You Fight?

Just a brief aside to once again show how history has been misrepresented in our schools and media.

Human nature is often overlooked when politics is involved. When an agenda is pushed or a narrative is preferred that is all that matters and actually thinking things through gets lost in the mix. All too often we are told that all Southrons were fighting for slavery. This overlooks the fact that not all Southern men/women owned slaves and that, as is the case today, a class of rich people, plantation owners, were the ones making political decisions for the new nation. The average Southern fighting man was in the field for vastly different reasons than the elite class of plantation owners.

The question then becomes - "What are men willing to die for?" Why would they have made the sacrifices they made during the Late Unpleasantness? Was it so that a rich plantation owner could keep his slaves? That's not something I would risk life and limb for, but maybe that's just me. As an example of the sacrifices made I offer this video and point you to July 3, 1863, as just one example. When George Pickett's Virginians marched across one-mile of open ground toward a copse of tress on Cemetery Ridge near a little town called Gettysburg, PA.

The rear echelon ranks of that division of infantry watched as those before them were torn into pieces by grapeshot (Golf ball sized lead balls grouped together that would spread after leaving the barrel of a cannon) and canister from Union artillery. Where before stood men there was now a red mist in the air and body parts strewn about the ground. They watched, they heard, and yet they kept moving forward. As they got closer the Union gunners switched to DOUBLE CANISTER. Canister was a round about the size of a can of Hi-C juice, filled with small lead balls about the size of marbles. I want you, just for a moment, to imagine the devastation and carnage such a round could cause coming out of a 12-pounder cannon. Now double that.

Yet these men kept moving forward. Despite what they had seen, in spite of what they knew was going to happen to them, they kept moving forward. In this video I have attached you can get some idea of what it might have been like. Watch and learn. After watching, after considering what those men were up against, knowing now that they did not waver, but kept moving forward to certain death, you should ask yourself - Would they do that so a rich man could keep his slaves? Would you? I know I wouldn't. So why were they there? What were they fighting for? What would human nature, then and now, dictate as a reason for such a sacrifice? These are things you might want to consider before condemning an entire section of a nation as "fighting for slavery."

Time for a Foreign Policy Change?

So, now comes news that a late August drone strike against what we were told was a group of terrorists was, in fact, just a group of civilians, including children. And our military leaders have the nerve to tell us that they are standing by the intelligence that led to this mistake, even though it has been described as "a mistake."

Of course, as one would expect, democrats are twisting themselves into all kinds of knots trying to excuse this away, while republicans are jumping all over it, like a frog on a June Bug. In the meantime the reality of why so many in the Middle East hate us and fight us will be overlooked, again. You see, this is nothing new, and don't you dare act like you don't know it. U.S. foreign policy has been meddling in the affairs of Middle Eastern countries for decades, at least as far back as the end of WWII.

I could run down a list of examples, but you are capable of looking them up and, in fact, probably remember several examples yourself. The deposing of Mohammed Mossadegh, the popular, elected leader of the Iranian parliament, enabling the U.S. installation of the Shah of Iran, a U.S. puppet, is just one example. This has been going on through several administrations, both republican and democrat, with each blaming the other for any missteps along the way. It made for a great campaign issue, dontchaknow.

Along the way the U.S. has removed duly elected leaders to replace them with puppets that we control. People have been killed, many of them innocent civilians who cared not a whit for the international politics and intrigue, but just wanted to live their lives in peace, as you do. Do you really wonder why they hate us? Is it really a mystery why they fight/attack us? Put yourself in their place and imagine China occupying our country, as we occupy theirs. Look at how angry many of you are because of what you see as China's meddling in our election/affairs. Why do you think that we, as Americans, have some sort of monopoly on righteous indignation?

This is the natural and expected result of not minding ones own damn business. Instead of a foreign policy of friendship to all and leading by example, our nation has chosen to impose itself on others, all while condemning other nations that do the same thing. You cannot act surprised or indignant when people treat you the same way you would treat them, were they doing to you what we are doing to them. It is time we, Republican, Democrat, Independent, or whatever you call yourself, establish a foreign policy that many of our Founding Fathers envisioned - Friendly relations with all, entangling alliances with none.

Book Review: "Slavery in the North by Marc Howard Ross

Book review:

Just finished "Slavery in the North - Forgetting History and Recovering Memory" by Marc Howard Ross.

The author goes into detail about the role of the North, its shipbuilders, businessmen, and politicians who not only ran the slave trade through Northern ports, but benefited greatly from it. He points out the names of those who contributed their ill gotten gains to businesses and colleges in the North, and whose names are still prominent on/at those schools. Those of us from the South, who know more than a little about our history, as well as that of the nation at large, have been pointing this out for many years now.

As the title implies, many Americans, especially in or from the North, have purposely forgotten about the role of that section of the country in the slave trade. The author makes it clear that slavery was not just "a Southern thing." A good deal of the book starts and is focused on the nine slaves that George Washington brought with him to Philadelphia when he served as president. This, in fact, was the catalyst for the book. A good deal of the book's research originates with various activist groups and so there is a bit of a political taint to the proceedings. As one would expect from an activist's point of view much is made of white Americas role as slave owners, but little is said about where the slaves came from and how they came to be in the hands of white slave traders. I can only hope that the author will use his considerable research and writing skills to delve into the role of Africans in the slave trade.

Overall a fascinating read and one that any historian will find worthwhile. There is much to learn and still more to be discovered about this issue and the book provides a good jumping off point for those who wish to learn more. Given the current politics today I am pleased to see that this issue is receiving attention and showing that slavery was not just a Southern thing, and that more is expected in the way of recognition of the role of slavery in the United States. However, the juxtaposition of the demands of the activists in this book for more monuments and memorials to their past, while at the same time demanding that the monuments and memorials of other Americans be torn down, is not lost on this reader. Hopefully there will come a time when the history of ALL Americans will be respected.

I recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn more about American history.

Why Do You Allow It?

I have asked the question many times - How many times must someone lie to you before you stop believing them?

I have yet to get an answer from a liberal to this question. However, I am sincere in asking and wanting an answer, as it will help me to better understand the thought processes of the left. In this post I will expand on that question and ask some others. And again, I really would like for someone on the left to try and answer them for me.

Let us begin with - 1) Why do you believe your government cares about you and your health? 2) What has the government done in the past to make you think that? 3) Has your government ever lied to you before and can you offer an example of said lie?

When it comes to things like "Global Warming" or "The War on Drugs" or "Covid-19" the consistent and patented response from your government is - We need more money, more power, and to place more restrictions on your freedom in order to combat this thing. Have you noticed that? Have you ever asked "Why?" Is there no other way to combat this issue? How many lies have you been told in order to gain your compliance regarding any of these issues?

Women, if your husband came home with lipstick on his collar, the smell of another women's perfume on his clothes, and another women's panties in his back pocket, would you be the least bit suspicious of him? Would you ask any questions? Would you continue to believe and trust him?

Men, if your wife came home with another man's "residue" on her blouse, smelling of a liquor she doesn't drink, and has an unused condom in her purse, and you don't use condoms, would you be at all suspicious? Would you ask any questions? Would you continue to believe and trust her?

If you would not believe and trust them anymore, because they are obviously lying, then what would you do? Now then, has your government, media, big pharma, ever lied to you? If you refuse to acknowledge this there are examples that can be offered to prove that they have. And this is not a "rare" occurrence, they all do it all the time. One way to tell is simple, and I'm surprised that you haven't figured it out yet - If the story told accrues to that entity more power and/or money then there is a very real chance you are being lied to. If they benefit while you suffer, then you are probably being lied to. If your freedom wanes while their power and wealth gain, then you are probably being lied to.

As for me, you only get to lie to me once. After that the trust is gone and we shall part. What is your limit, your line in the sand? How much are you willing to give up to please your overlords? Why do you allow it at al?

Stop Being Afraid

So, tomorrow marks twenty-years since the attacks of 9/11. Many people asked us to "never forget," but as a nation we have collectively forgotten. We have forgotten what happened, we have forgotten the lies we were told about what happened, and we have forgotten what our government did in the name of "protecting us." I HAVE NOT FORGOTTEN!

I realize that many of you on my friends list have not forgotten either, but can we be honest? You and I seem to be the minority in this country anymore. Not a racial or sex minority, but a liberty minority. Far too many of our contemporaries have forgotten, if they ever knew at all, what liberty is. They have forgotten, if they ever knew, the proper role of government. And so here we are.

As the video I have included points out, 9/11 was simply an excuse for our government to become even more draconian in its treatment of the U.S. population. I screamed and hollered back then that the Patriot Act was not about foreign terrorists, it was about spying on you and me. You know the names I was called. Hell, "conspiracy theorist" was among the tamer epithets. Was I wrong? And now comes the Covid debacle. I swear, there are actually people out there who truly believe that the government cares about their health and safety. Based on what? What sane, cognizant person would believe that?

So, don't expect this to go away. The elites, those who benefit from the big lie, those who have gathered to themselves more power and money, will see to it that this does not go away. Variants, evolving viruses, booster shots, etc., will keep coming, as long as the lie works and AS LONG AS YOU ALLOW IT TO WORK!

Will Things Get Better?

Well, Hallelujah and PTL, today marks the day that life in these United States will make the turn toward Utopia. All the dreams and desires of the American people will come true and we will become the land of milk and honey we have longed for.

With today's news of the pending removal of the Robert E. Lee Monument in Richmond, VA, there will be no more gloomy days. All that remains to push us over the hump is the actually removal of said monument. Once that is done we can look forward to:

Black on black crime coming to an end.

White supremacists will learn to love their fellow man.

Richmond schools will see an improvement in test scores and graduation rates.

Politicians will stop lying to us.

Big pharma will actually produce cures, rather than money-making treatments for disease.

Murder Hornets will become kinder and gentler insects.

The Taliban will return all the weapons and war materiel that Biden left them.

Richmond city streets will be pothole-free.

Political parties will care more about the country than they do about their party.

The government will stop using the lives of our military personnel as expendable pawns in its global chess game.

George Soros will cease to exist.

The Bill of Rights will come back in vogue

Equal application of the law will apply to EVERYONE.

Dogs will lay down with cats..

Mosquitos will no longer bother humans.

Squirrels will leave your bird-feeder alone.

Wind and solar power will actually become cost-efficient and effective.

Our summer temperatures will never rise above 85-degrees.

Everyone will have a green thumb when gardening in their yard.

Farmers will no longer be required to destroy their crops under order from the government and will no longer be subsidized with our tax dollars.

People will learn how to use the turn signals in their cars.

Everything will improve, everyone will love one another, people will actually educate themselves and not believe everything their TV tells them, teachers will simply teach their subject and not indoctrinate students, all will be right with the World.

OR maybe nothing will change at all, because people are not going to change just because a monument comes down, because life is hard and there are lots of stupid people in the World, monuments or no monuments. And most of all because for so many Americans today thinking is just too hard.

Book Review - "War Crimes Against Southern Civilians."

Just finished reading "War Crimes Against Southern Civilians" by Walter Brian Cisco.

Here is a book to make your blood boil. While other books on the Late Unpleasantness have touched on such incidences this book is a compilation of numerous affronts and cites their origins. While all wars see soldiers acting less than chivalrously, they seldom seem to have the approval, tacit or otherwise, of their leadership. The author points out the political orders and then military general orders that permitted atrocities of every sort to be visited upon Southern civilians both WHITE and BLACK.

The so called "emancipators" proved beyond a doubt that they were no respecters of status or skin color. The wanton destruction of private property, including slave cabins, clothing, food, and personal items was everywhere. Officers either encouraged it or "looked the other way." Generals like, Banks, Kilpatrick, Sheridan, and Sherman, just to name a few, will forever remain infamous for the disregard for civilian lives that they showed. Their leader, Abraham Lincoln, can have the blame laid squarely at his feet, as he and his war department approved of such methods.

Aside from simply murdering anyone, man, woman, or child, who resisted them, the Union soldiers were not hesitant to rape both white and black women. Only one soldier of the Union army was ever tried for rape, that of a slave woman, and while found guilty his sentence was reduced and he went home a free man. Dear readers, this book will disspell a good many myths about the North as liberators and patriots concerned about "maintaining the Union."

This book belongs in any serious American History library, but I recommend you read it after taking your blood pressure medication.
