These are the days we wish we still had our women’s clothing so we could send some M.I.A’s way. Seen her new video? It’s a Romain Gavras creation again and she’s got her swagger back in spades. Rap cliche turned on their heads with her trademark chamelion-like borrowing of a cultural hook (arabic this time round as opposed to Brazilian before) that works so well. The bit where she is filing her nails is a wee bit obvious that the car is actually supported from the other side, but we love that it looks dangerously mental.

We are always getting messages about what people are up to, what bands they are in, asking if we can support them etc. It’s always interesting as we love feedback and we love knowing that our customers are as passionate about the things we love as we are. Music, bikes, fun times and parties are the most discussed.

Check out our new favourite customer – Alex and what he’s been doing in his spare time. Yeah he made this. Fabricated the whole darn thing of mad beauty and made us envious. What a bike and it’s only a few grams of weight (not quite but it’s light) with a maniac engine. His hair must be on fire when it’s driven full throttle. Amazeballs. ‘I will force spiders and badgers on the enemy, and get them to shut up’ – The U.S. political race is aways fodder for anyone to really take the Michael as much as possible, and we love that part of the race. Here is the genius of A BLR Soundbite with your brain playing your eyes off against your ears as you read heir lips and think they could just be talking about ‘F*ck them, I am a party rapper that’s how I am’ wee inducing funniness. We’ll be keeping an eye out for more fun. Stuff the ice chest.

Retailer of the week

It’s a Wednesday and that means we have to crown someone our regional retailer of the week. As always it’s a hard struggle, but we have a quick look at who the shortlist was, sat them down in a room, put a line of chairs out and started the music. When the retailing musical chairs finished, there was only one winner this week. House of Fraser Bristol. Big up to Stuart the Manager as he’s got himself into the first H.O.F. Retailer of the week. Feel free to get along there and shake his hand.

Bristol is home to one of the most recognised musical scenes, as well as a creative hub for lots and lots of things from action sports to art (Banksy anyone?) Stuart takes this in mind when recommending either Start the Bus or the equally massively popular Motion as the night out (both choice destinations) For a meal, there are too many choices, but the Rocatillos fry up as well as evening food is amazing.

Spring Summer 12 Launch

As the seasons turn, so our clothing seasons change and new product starts to be delivered. Last week we launched the new Spring Sumer 2012 season to our House of Fraser Concession Managers (we have 14 don’t you know) as well as whetting their palette with a preview of where we are going in Winter 2012.

There was some fun, drinks, engaging conversation and team activities that didn’t include falling backwards with your eyes closed. In true FLY53 style, we handled things differently, with a night that left some out to 5am and others staggering to the hotel at 11pm (they know who they are)

You, the customer will be seeing the brand new product very, very soon and we are confident you’ll like what you see as it’s a stormer of a collection. More images soon, so keep ‘em peeled.

Random Intermission

Your watching a film. There is a break in time for you to go out and get some popcorn and a refreshing drink whilst running to the loo for good measure. However all your plans are put to rest when this baby starts playing. Your brain does a flip and you forget to do anything you had planned. Now you are refreshment-less and cross-legged whilst laughing. It’s ok though it happens to the best of us. Film starts again.
