Star Wars Black Series Images Being Teased Out One By One By Hasbro Over next Few Weeks.

After the announcement our insider gave us last week to help confirm waves 2 & 3 figures Hasbro have resorted to sharing teasing images of the characters with retailer Entertainment Earth

ENTERTAINMENT EARTH TO EXCLUSIVELY REVEAL AN UPCOMING CHARACTER FROM THE STAR WARS BLACK SERIES 6-INCH ACTION FIGURE LINE FROM HASBRO

In collaboration with Hasbro, Entertainment Earth is proud to introduce a never before seen figure in the second wave of the BLACK SERIES 6-inch scale action figure line! Entertainment Earth will release an image once a week providing design insight to the new figure. Be sure to visit EntertainmentEarth.com (www.entertainmentearth.com/BlackSeries.asp) beginning June 17 to see what great character from the STAR WARS universe will join the collection of 6-inch figures that feature incredibly accurate design and a high level of articulation.

The images Entertainment Earth reveals will consist of various stages of product development of the 6-inch STAR WARS action figure, providing fans an inside look at the development process from "concept to product" for this exciting new collectible line. A blast from the past, the Pride Displays Star Wars Action Figure Diorama infuses 1970s sensibilities into a limited edition product straight from the 21st Century. The UK-based company worked with sculptors with a firm understanding of the classic Kenner and Palitoy action figure playsets and recreated their style of toy in a new display stand designed with the adult collector in mind. Each display is based on original Star Wars playsets and includes 50 clear action figure stands that are sized to work with both classic (1978-1985) and modern (1995-present) Star Wars action figures. Packaged in a special box that looks right out of the 1970s, collectors will find the packaging to be just as staggeringly retro as the display stand within.
Roughly 60% of the set is the Tatooine Desert, based on the old "Land of the Jawas" playset-there's a Krayt Dragon skeleton, a cave for R2-D2, and a number of places to place figures. The remaining portion recreates an environment similar to the "Creature Cantina," complete with a bar with a sticker providing additional detail. To give the display additional flavor, the designers included a reversible backdrop to show a classic image of the Death Star dogfight on one side, with images of Jawas scavenging across the Tatooine desert on the other. The entire display sits atop another black display stand, with the original Star Wars logo and the all-too familiar "A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…" text.

UPDATE: Thanks to JTA for checking (super quick too!) these UPC's and bummer I'm afraid it looks like they may well be the Build a droid wave and older AMPED discontinued line AT-RT.

A few more figures that we have been given to us are below, following on from our recent Six Inch Black Series announcement.

We reviewed a lot of info and we took JTA's initial list & their updates today which revealed the missing Luke we shared was a craptastic 'where's my bubble bath' 12 inch limited articulation figure, so this list below is not as clear when or where these figures will be placed within or without the next year*

On a separate issue the recent announcement by several sites of the 3.3/4" Black Series appears to be missing/in query over one figure from our list we received, which highlighted that there are two Luke's with two differing UPC's. No clear indication as to whether its an ROTJ Luke or is in fact an error and a duplicate somehow of the Jedi Training Luke. We are inclined to think the latter but have included in the list here for completeness.

About 48 hrs ago, I emailed Hasbro PR (again) to complain at the nonsense that has been going on for several years with images for Star Wars product. In particular the inability for us to get access to all (not just some) images. Yet many images seem only to be secretly dished out to select retailers or perhaps some other site as an 'exclusive'. Frankly who knows, it's all a bit cloak and dagger and no one is spilling the beans.

Meanwhile, earlier today a girl guide bun fight broke out publicly between two Star Wars fan sites, which got quite sad and ugly and simply could have been resolved, if Hasbro had just shared the bloody images with us all in the first place.

We're all here to promote Star Wars product because we are die hard fans and love and buy the product right? Yet there appears to be a war* over getting access to these images and you dear reader, are the reason everyone is fighting. Many sites (coming across a little desperately to my mind) want really deeply to be the king of exclusive images. And it's all because your eyeballs and clicks help make sites more money in revenue. However, lets be clear, no-one is buying a fleet of Ferrari's off a Star Wars fan sites revenue.

Images are about as exclusive as poop. The ones in question are stock images, so this is not people fighting over an original rocket firing Fett or vinyl cape Jawa on the pegs, yet for a brief glimpse of traffic, exclusivity and potentially more ad money, threats, name slinging and and some really bitchy unprofessional shit is going down. I am sick of it.

Most large Star Wars fan sites including ourselves get select images directly from Hasbro and we all do our own thing with them. Our personal preference is to;

Leave the images alone, never brand them (as they belong to Hasbro and the photographer) and frankly do you really want us peeing our brand all over images you want to see? No.
We then upload them to our site and social channels for you to share, download or drool over. Emphasis on 'share' and not greedily restricting them to force people to your site or pimp your brand.

Stock images should be given out to all sites to promote the product at the same time. Yet because Hasbro limit these and only give us a few, this makes many sites so desperate for traffic, exclusives and 'likes' they will throw (as we've now seen today ) the toys out the pram in public. And it's really quite sad.

None of these sites involved actually owns the rights to these images, they are in fact likely pinched from a retailer who has gotten access to these from Hasbro
Both sites then took others copyrighted images and applied their brand to it. Not Kosher.
The girl guide squabble started quite bitchily which was uncalled for, but then cascades in to swearing, and threats and enough mentions of balls, dicks and assholes to make me think I had ended up on some gay porn forum. Waaay unprofessional and not needed, especially if we all had the images.
Most of the Facebook fans didn't even care about the bitchfest and were more interested in discussing the images themselves.
The Black Series card designs are not really great at all, so even more reason not to get too fussed about them
As someone who advises advertising strategies on behalf of some of these sites clients, I'm taking note of the kind of responses they give and I'm sure the clients I advise are too.
Whilst all this bitching was going on we've simply added the (unbranded images) to our Facebook albums and Google+ image library. Please re-post, share, and post on your own sites, blogs and social channels and lets end the image wars nonsense which frankly Hasbro you can fix very easily...

A pretty solid figure that Hasbro chose to design incredibly well, but somehow likely never seemed to sell all that well given AOTC's luke warm box office and reception ( I Loved the film but it hasn't stood the test of time well) and it's still got a low price and availability.

Nice work by Dave, although what sucks big donkey nuts is "Please note that this release will take place at a random url that will be announced at the time of the release" So um good luck with buying that.

Why not remove the limited edition run and have it available like now?
