ENGLISH: Returning once again to my box of Bassetts Liquorice Allsorts - this time with a serious macro shot. I think this servers as a good example of why it's not good to look too closely at the food or candy you enjoy :D At this distance, that delicious candy just reveals itself as crystalized sugar and fat crompressed into cubes :D //
ENGLISH: Returning once again to Cloud Gate, in Chicago's Millennium Park. I took a number of shots from this angle, with my back to the city core - in Black/White and at high contrast like here, it looks like there is a strange anomaly in the air, bending it :) //
ENGLISH: Captured in Odense Zoo. I actually took this shot to get the not-so-happy-looking Pelican and only post-shot did I spot that the Pelican to the left was fooling around, and unfortunately had moved on so I couldn't get them both fully in the frame. Afterwards it just struck me that it looked exactly like the Pelican to the right was angry at the Pelican to the left and determined not to talk to it :) //
DK: Taget i Odense Zoo.
ENGLISH: Captured in Odense Zoo. I think Flamingos are great birds - they are a variety of pink colours according to what their diet consists off, they are always moving around in flocks and they have that very flexible neck, simply put LOTS of photo ops. I tried to capture two that formed a heart-shape with their necks, but they were just never at the right angle :) //
DK: Taget i Odense Zoo.
ENGLISH: Captured in downtown Chicago. Skyscrapers + wide-angle lens = massive perspective distortion :D These mammoths are Sears Tower (left) and 311 South Wacker Drive (right) and even though they seem equally tall, Sears Tower with it's 442 meters/1,450 feet towers above 311 Wacker at a still impressive 293 meters / 961 feet. And apparently I was fortunate enough to see Sears Tower while that is still the place's name, as it apparently is going to change name this summer. //
DK: Taget i Chicago midtby.
ENGLISH: Captured in downtown Chicago. Having been raised with US sitcoms, nothing says "inner city USA" to me than tall buildings with fire escapes like this - might not be the most interesting of motifs, but there is a certain nostalgic feeling about it for me, but I do like the symmetry here as well with all the stairs and windows making it look like an elaborate model set. //
DK: Taget i Chicago midtby.
ENGLISH: Captured at Aalborg Carnival 2009. I just wanted to show off this young lady in all her glory - I think that headdress is magnificent - unfortunately some guy muscled in front of me just as I was shooting, so I had to do some bad cropping on this one :( That is probably the worst part about street photography - if you miss the moment, you miss the shot :( //
ENGLISH: Captured in downtown Chicago, from the John Hancock Center observation deck. Visibility wasn't as great on my second day of braving the heights, with a bit of daze over the city, but when I saw this I just couldn't help think of the classic SimCity covers where you always saw a bunch of skyscrapers huddled together. Other than that, I think it's a fairly good shot of the downtown area, showing how everything is really tall for a number of blocks and then drops away to regular size buildings when looking further out. //
ENGLISH: Captured in Millennium Park, Chicago. Returning once again to the "Cloud Gate" statue, this is taken from underneath the statue where people can see their reflection repeated and distorted almost to infinity - and of course I could just engage in a bit of metaphotography here (me shooting the people shooting themselves shooting their reflections shooting themselves in infity). Although I really like the statue for its aestetics, the best part is seeing people react and interact with it - if art is something that provokes reaction, then this is a very successful piece of art. //
DK: Fotograferet i Millennium Park, Chicago.
ENGLISH: Captured in downtown Chicago. Two things here: 1) I love the big city, with all the tall buildings and varied architecture it offers me great opportunities to capture wonderful angles and perspectives - and like here, a skyscraper rising in the backdrop of what I would call classic American inner city buildings. 2) I have GOT to get me one of those GPS trackers that can record GPS coordinates which allows you to later link it up with the photos - it annoys me that I never keep track of what I am shooting, because I am too busy capturing it, :) //
DK: Taget i Chicago midtby. :)

Hard to resist shooting the unbridled joy of a kid splashing his way through the water flowing at the plaza - this kid, however, was just a tad to quick for me as he changed directions just as I took the shot :) Still, I like the splash and the look of joy on his face. //

You can't really go to Chicago these days and NOT see the Cloud Gate (or "The Bean" as I heard it called) or at least that is what the tourist guide books insist upon. I completely had the wrong lens ready for this shot (demonstrating for the first time to me WHY the pros are running around with several cameras so they don't waste time and opportunities while changing lenses) but it's hard to pass up on a moment where 1) the subject has eye contact making for a better shot, 2) the light is almost perfect and 3) there is just killer mood and fun being had. //
The John Hancock Center is one of the iconic buildings of the Windy City, with it's distinctive look and weighing in a 100-stories and a height of 1,127 foot/344 m. I did a number of crops on this shot, but decided to bring the original in it's uncropped version, as I think the buildings and tree-line brings a little perspective to the impressive height of the structure when it has to be seen on a photo. //
ENGLISH: Captured at Aalborg Carnival 2009. Apparently the Orcs of Mordor have found new occupation after the fall of Sauron :) This guy is part of a Dutch carnival group, they have a killer rythm section but strangely enough no dancers - I find it even stranger that no one in the Carnival committee have hooked them up with some dancers, as it seems a shame to waste good rythms.
This shot isn't as sharp as I would have liked it - the black must have fooled the auto-focus - but I just like the way this guy's eyes seem to VERY blue in the midst of all that black. //

ENGLISH: Captured at Odense Zoo. I don't know if this is a general thing for zoos, but at least in Denmark every respectable zoo has a petting zoo and in that petting zoo, there will be goats. Don't get me wrong - apart from the smell, I think goats are great animals - fun to watch, great for photos and so on - but perhaps goats are simply the most easy-going animal for that sort of thing?
This little guy was part of a 3-goat-gang of youngsters that were jumping around everywhere - and I really liked this shot of him enjoying a bit of close contact with one of the guests. //
DK: Taget i Odense Zoo.

ENGLISH: Revisiting the salad I photographed a few weeks back. I just really liked this motif - the tossed salad making an arc and with the sunlight coming in to add a little extra. I'll be the first to admit my studio experience is negligible, so perhaps that is why I like to use natural light whenever I can :) //
