Branson: Fishing guides have noticed fewer fish on beds over the past week, while there are still several fish in the backs of creeks and spawning pockets on beds the majority of beds are empty and fry are visible around standing timber and boat docks. For those wanting to sight fish the best baits continue to be UV finesse worms and tubes on Jewel Squirrel heads. The top water bite has been lights out during low light conditions; spooks, Sammies and red fins have been putting the biggest fish in the boat, look for areas close to spawning pockets to be the most productive.

Kimberling City: The early morning topwater bite continues to be amazing in the mid lake. Branson fishing guides have been catching numbers and quality on spooks, Sammies and redfins in and around spawning pockets. The bite only lasts until the sun comes up over the hill. Once the sun rises switch to a Jewel Squirrel head with a Tightlines UV 4” or 6” finesse worm in UV green or UV green red flake. Work the same areas over from 8’ – 15’ deep.

James River: The largest number of fish on beds has been in the James River. Branson fishing guides are still see several fish locked on beds from Campers Point through Cap Fair. Look for the best fish to be in the very back of the larger pockets and creek arms. UV finesse worms and hogs have been the ticket for these fish, UV green red flake on a 3/16 oz. Jewel Squirrel head will out produce anything else.

White River: The topwater bite in the White River is fantastic; just like the rest of the lake Spooks, Sammies and Redfins are doing most of the damage early in the day before the sun comes up. There is a great weightless soft jerkbait bite going on as well, Tightlines UV Broken Back jerks in UV pearl or pearl green red flake have been phenomenal once the sun rises over the hill. Allow the bait to sink to about seven to ten feet deep and work it back to the boat with an erratic stop and go retrieve.

Current makes all the difference right now on Lake Taneycomo. Branson fishing guides have been changing tactics along the changes in current:

Zig Jig marabou jigs have been very effective around current breaks. Cast the jig beyond cover or into eddies and work it back with an erratic stop and go retrieve.

Trout magnets continue to produce below a float; six to seven foot drop lines have been the most productive, allow current to work the bait through the eddies to draw strikes from Taneycomo trout hiding in slack water.

Gulp and Power Bait Eggs on drift rigs particularly when current was running; mix colors of eggs, cast upstream and allow the current to drift the boat downstream over flats and drops to draw strikes

Micro Marabou jigs have been a top producer in sloughs and creek mouths where current is a little slack cast with or without a float and work the areas where current creates an eddy thoroughly

Live night crawlers on a drift have also been very productive when current is slack. Inject a small amount of air in the crawler to allow it to float off the bottom.

Taneycomo trout fishing has been about as good as it gets and Branson fishing guides are putting clients on fish all day every day. Call Focused Fishing Guide Service at 417-860-4743 today and book your trip of a lifetime.

Branson: Fishing guides continue to see more fish locked on beds every day; the smaller males have been replaced by a few quality fish and the sight fishing bite is on in full swing. Tightlines UV tubes and finesse worms in UV green with red flak have been the most productive baits, fish them on a 3/16 oz Jewel Squirrel head. Before the sun breaks over the top of the hills there has been a great topwater bite; Red Fins, Spooks and Sammies are taking most of the fish. Smallmouth are crushing Tightlines UV tubes on gravel flats as well, most Branson Fishing Guides are finding UV Green to be the best color 10’ – 20’ deep.

Kimberling City: The big story in the mid lake has been the topwater bite; Branson fishing guides are having a field day with Red Fins, Spooks and Sammies early and late in the day. Focus your efforts on secondary points near spawning pockets before the sun gets over the hill. There are still a ton of fish on beds in the Kimberling area as well, just like in Branson fishing guides are doing exceptionally well with UV tubes and finesse worms on a Jewel Squirrel head.

James River: Now that the weather has stabilized the spawn is in full swing in the James River; Branson fishing guides are finding fish on beds in almost every cove and spawning pocket from Aunts creek to Flat Creek. The stained water requires a little tweaking of bait colors with Tightlines UV green with the tail dipped in chartreuse taking the majority of fish. Texas rig tubes, small hogs and finesse worms and make multiple pitches to beds to agitate and eventually catch fish guarding nests.

White River: The spawn is in full swing in the White River as well; there are tons of fish on beds from the confluence with the James through to Eagle Rock. The same baits and techniques working in Kimberling city and Branson will work on the White River. The topwater bite in the White has been phenomenal, Branson fishing guides have been catching fish on Spooks, Sammies and Red Fins early and late in the day. Jewel Squirrel heads with Tightlines UV green red flake beavers and finesse worms are crushing post spawn fish when the sun is up, work secondary points around spawning pockets from 7’ – 15’ deep.

Current has been moderated a bit over the past week, the Corps of Engineers has been running two generators most of the time and slacking off to one on occasion. With lighter current the bite has changed some but the following patterns are still effective for Branson Fishing Guides:

Branson: Fishing guides continue to see fish locked on beds throughout the lower end, but the spawn is nowhere near complete. Numbers of fish can be caught on Tightlines UV tubes and Jewel Squirrel heads on gravel points close to spawning areas, pre spawn fish are holding from 7’ – 18’. The best colors have been UV Green, Green red flake and squash. Those wanting to sight fish will find plenty of fish on beds but most are smaller males.

Kimberling City: The spawn is a little further along in the mid lake area. Branson fishing guides have been catching fish in all three phases of the spawn; pre spawn fish are being caught on secondary points near spawning pockets on Tightlines UV tubes, finesse worms and small hogs on Jewel Squirrel heads, spawning fish will take the same baits, add a 3” UV craw in green red flake and you’ll draw strikes and post spawn fish will take topwaters and UV broken back big jerks in pearl and shad colors. Rig the broken back jerk weightless on a 4/0 EWG hook and cast to surfacing fish.

James River: The recurring cold fronts have delayed the spawn the most in the James River. Branson fishing guides have noticed the smallest number of beds in the stained water of the James, but warmer weather this week should have fish on the move and ready for love in short order. Stain caused from run off is making darker colors more effective than the translucent ones being used on in Branson. Fishing guides have had success with UV black blue and UV green tubes, hogs and craws Texas rigged or as jig trailers on Jewel football or Pro Spider jigs have been productive on secondary points near spawning pockets.

White River: Every phase of the spawn is available on the White River; pre spawn fish can be found on gravel and mixed gravel / rock points near spawning coves, spawning fish are locked on in gravel pockets and post spawn fish can be found suspended off the same points as the pre spawn fish. Pre spawn fish can be caught with Jewel Squirrel heads and Tightlines tubes from 5’ – 15’ deep, UV green and green red flake have been the best colors. Fish locked on the beds are being caught by Branson fishing guides with 3” UV green red flake tubes or small hogs on a Squirrel head. Post spawn fish are crushing UV broken back jerks in pearl and watermelon red pearl in and around standing timber on secondary points.

The heavy current continues making fishing great but a little challenging. The better bite has been a little further downstream than usual with the best bite from Cooper Creek through Branson, Fishing guides have noticed slack water areas and eddies have been out producing the main channel over the past week, here are the dominate patterns :

Micro Marabou jigs have been a top producer in sloughs and creek mouths where current is a little slack cast with or without a float and work the areas where current creates an eddy thoroughly

Zig Jig marabou jigs have been very effective around current breaks. Cast the jig beyond cover or into eddies and work it back with an erratic stop and go retrieve.

Trout magnets continue to produce below a float; six to seven foot drop lines have been the most productive, allow current to work the bait through the eddie to draw strikes from Taneycomo trout hiding in slack water.

Gulp and Power Bait Eggs on drift rigs particularly when current was running; mix colors of eggs, cast upstream and allow the current to drift the boat downstream over flats and drops to draw strikes

More rain is forecast for the rest of the week along with much warmer temperatures, the combination should make for some of the best fishing we’ve seen so far this year. Call Focused Fishing Guide Service at 417-860-4743 today and book your trip of a lifetime.

Branson: Fishing guides have found more and more fish locked on beds as the water temperature has warmed through the week. Most are still males but they have become much more protective as the spawn progresses. The best baits if targeting fish on beds have been Tightlines UV 3” tubes in UV green with red flake, UV hogs in the same color and 6” UV finesse worms in UV green and Green red flake. Work all of these on a Jewel 3/16 oz. Squirrel head.

Kimberling City: The fish are locked on in the Kimberling City area, Branson fishing guides have found fish in gravel pockets in the larger creek arms. The same lures working on in Branson have been working in the mid lake area. A great secondary pattern has been throwing Jewel Squirrel heads with UV finesse worms or UV tubes on secondary points close to spawning areas. Look for both pre and post spawn fish to be holding on these points and target depths from 10’ – 20’ deep.

James River: The spawn is a little slower progressing on the James River, cooler rain water has kept most of the fish off the beds but as the water warms they will move up within the next week. With that in mind pre – spawn patterns have been the most productive on the James. Branson fishing guides have been doing well with split shot rigged Tightlines finesse worms and small hogs in UV green. Look for fish to be holding from 5 – 15’ deep on secondary points close to spawning pockets in the larger creek arms.

White River: Spawning fish and post spawn fish dominate the White River right now. Branson fishing guides targeting fish on beds are using the same techniques and baits as the rest of the lake. Most of the fish are locked on when you find them so catching a few has been pretty easy. Post spawn fish can be found chasing shad on the surface early in the morning; spooks and Sammies have been the ticket while fish are on top. When the school settles down throw weightless Tightlines UV broken back jerks on 10# fluorocarbon line with a 4/0 hook.

The Corps of Engineers have been generating current almost every day making the fishing fantastic over the past week. From Fall Creek through Branson fishing guides have been catching fish with a number of presentations:

Zig Jig marabou jigs have been very effective around current breaks. Cast the jig beyond cover or into eddies and work it back with an erratic stop and go retrieve.

Gulp and Power Bait Eggs on drift rigs particularly when current was running; mix colors of eggs, cast upstream and allow the current to drift the boat downstream over flats and drops to draw strikes

Trout magnets continue to produce below a float; six to seven foot drop lines have been the most productive

Micro Marabou jigs have been a top producer in sloughs and creek mouths where current is a little slack cast with or without a float and work the areas where current creates an eddy thoroughly.

If rain continues to fall as predicted the bite should remain fantastic. Call Focused Fishing Branson Fishing Guide Service today and book an unforgettable trout fishing trip.

Branson: Fishing guides are finding spawning fish holding on beds all over the lower end of the lake right now. Most of the fish are males and for the most part very few are locked on but there are a few catchable fish in every cove. Bed fishing has been best with smaller baits like Tightlines UV baby hogs, 3’ tubes and finesse worms on Jewel 3/16oz. squirrel heads. UV Green with red flake and blood has been the dominate color. Tubes and squirrel heads have also been working on secondary points targeting fish that have either not pulled up yet.

Kimberling City: Branson fishing guides continue to see more and more fish locking onto beds in the mid lake. The fish here seem to be a little easier to catch and are definitely further along than the ones on the lower end. The same tactics that work around Branson are working here with a little more success; UV tubes, hogs and finesse worms on Squirrel heads have been best. Backing out and fishing secondary points with Tightlines UV tubes or Jewel Pro Spider jigs have been very successful as well, look for fish to be holding between 10’ – 18’ feet deep.

James River: The coldest water on the lake is in the James River, Branson fishing Guides have seen lower 50’s in the morning but the stained water does warm to the upper 50’s on sunny afternoons. The spawn is a little further behind on the lower end than in the mid lake or Branson. Fishing guides have more success targeting pre spawn fish on secondary points near spawning pockets with Tightlines UV tubes, Jewel Football and Spider jigs and Carolina rigged UV hogs.

White River: Almost every phase of the spawn can be seen on the White River right now; the upper end of the White and Kings has fish locked on beds in almost every cove, from Campbell point to Baxter fish are locked on and pre spawn. Just like the rest of the lake the best baits to target fish locked on their beds has been Tightlines UV tubes, baby hogs and finesse worms in blood or UV green with red flake have been the best baits especially when fished on a 3/16 oz Jewel Squirrel head.
