The driver’s side mirror has broken on my 2004 Chevy Trailblazer. Not sure what happened (teens driving my car). Anyway, it appears to have broken at the part that the unit pivots on. I feel sure that the entire unit needs to be replaced, but is it possible that I can do it myself? I hate to pay a mechanic to do it if the process is simple. The mirror is not heated, and does not have any turn signal mechanism, however it can be controlled from inside the vehicle. What do you think? Is it worth trying to do it myself or should I just suck it up and make an appointment with the dealership? Thanks for any suggestions!

The only thing that makes me think it isn’t old is a unpainted section that has an old time picture taped to the back of it for a 5 cent Coca Cola. She’s removable and the paper itself feels fairly new. Can anyone direct me to the best place to date this?
