Boy Meets Girl

No I'm not talking about cross dressing particularly... I'm talking about taking youngmen items and just adding a feminine touch to it. The most popular items worn by girls are snapbacks, beanies, Jordan's, graphic tees, and sweat shirts, just to name a few. Outfits like these are perfect on those days you just don't feel like dressing up to go to class or running to the store.

Stores and Items
Forever 21 and has a good selection on mimics of boys clothes. But if they have a boy section in the store just go ahead and shop in their section!

H&M has a great selection of beanies this fall.

I'm not a fan of Jordan shoes but I'm sure you can pick some up at most of the athletic shoe stores (Champs, Finshline, etc.)

With my boy look I wear usually wear Vans (Journey's, Shoe Carnival). Chucks and Adidas are a good option also (most shoe stores).

As far as bottoms, you can go with cargo shorts or pants, tights to make it more feminine, or you can never go wrong with some skinny jeans.

Or, how about just taking a few items from your boyfriend! That's what I do from time to time!

We all know that this is not a trend that just came around. There are some ladies from the 90's that rocked just as good if not better than the girls in the game today.

The Style Evolution of Solange

My style icon of the moment would have to be Solange Knowles. I'm so impressed on how much she has evolved in her style over the past couple of years! Her use of prints and colors are amazing! She has definitely made me want to incorporate more prints into my wardrobe.

And let's not forgot about the hair! About a couple of years ago she managed to do the BIG CHOP, and let's just say that the natural look really suits her!

Solange is also in the process of releasing a new album. Can you say "EXCITED"?! I was also a fan of her previous project Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams with featured hits "I decide" and "T.O.N.Y". Oh, and don't think that this Ms. Knowles has been out the music game! She had picked up the hobby of dee-jaying!

Product jUnKiE!!!

I am guilty of trying out new products! (Not sure if that's a good thing!) Last week I did purchase the Strobe Cream by MAC and I have to say that I really like this product. If you are looking for something that is going to give you a subtle glow then this will be good for you!

I was having a problem with looking too dry with my powder and foundations. I am not a fan of the ashy look... I dont believe that this product is a primer. So if you do use a primer before applying your make-up make sure that you put the strobe cream on before. Please be carefully of applying too much.

I do have sensitive skin and I have yet to have any breakouts.

Would I buy this product again?! It's a little to early to tell.

I LOVE SCARVES!!! They are the perfect accessory for fall!! It had got a little chilly here in Texas and it was a fine time to bring mine out! To me a scarf can make an outfit. Especially on those days where your not really in the mood to dress up but your scarf can make the look.

Make Over Monday!

Hey everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend! I'm presenting to you my make over Monday! Its something just for fun and gives people an opportunity to play dress up!
Meet... Alexis, 19, student. Now originally we were suppose to go to mall and get the make-up professionally done but then I decided to just do it myself! I feel like i need to up my skills in the make-up department anyway!

For starters, we touched up the hair a bit. My sister is the hair expert, so luckily she didn't mind using her A1 faltiron skills for my make over. The hairstyle that I wanted to achieve for Alexis is that Rated R Rihanna look.

As, for make-up I wanted to create something natural but with a little edge. For eye shadow I just went a little heavy with the light gold and browns. She has great bone structure so I definitely what to define those cheekbones of hers. I did a light conture on the cheeks and highlighted them with a bronzer. For the lips I picked a dark gold with some light shimmer, then top it off with a gloss for some shine.

As far as wardrobe, I wanted to do something simple but chic. I pulled a simple black sweater, denim skinny's, and some chunky boots. I think with this outfit the accessories made it complete. The black sweater made the dangle gold earrings (MADE BY ME!) and the printed bangles stand out.

Styling My Senegalese Twist

I absolutely love this hairstyle! Not only can I style them in so many different ways but it also saves me some time from doing my hair in the A.M.!! This was my first time getting these and trust it won't be my last! I love pinning it up on the sides or wearing a high bun (whenever it doesn't look lop sided! ; ) And also it is such a great style when it comes to working out! I do not have to worry about sweating my hair out or suffer straightening it the next day. I have had them up for about a month now so I will be taking them down soon but I will try them again in the near future.

My advice is to make sure that you have plenty bags of hair! I used the 100% kanekalon hair (regular braiding hair). I should have bought at least 6 bags cause I had ended up running out of hair. Luckily my friend that was doing my hair had some extra! Get more bags than what you will need just to be on the safe side, and its always good if you have left overs.

For mantainence I recommend gel, especially for when the edges start becoming unruly. You can also use conditioning sprays for braids and twists. I sometimes use BioSilk or oil sheen if I want that glossy look because after while the shine in the hair tends to fade and can look really dry. As for going to sleep I put it in a ponytail or high bun and wrap with a silk scarf, although my scarf is NEVER on my head when I wake up! Smh

New Beginnings!!

Hello everyone!! I'm Joyce, sometimes better known as Joyce-Lynn. I just want to say that I'm so excited about starting this blog and becoming more into fashion! What I'm even more excited about is that this blog won't be just about me displaying my outfits and what I think is in style but show casing other people styles and talents. I know so many people who are trying to break into becoming stylists, hair stylist, modeling, acting, make-up artist, and music (just to name a few), and I just wanted to create a site where they can have that extra exposure.

Though fashion is going to be the main concept of this blog, I plan to talk about whatever comes to my mind that I think would be a good discussion! And I can't forget the contests and giveaways!

I just want to thank all my supporters and the people who gave me that extra push to create this blog. I hope everyone enjoy's it and feel free to participate and comment!!
