DIY Yarn Pom Fever

2011-05-18T21:31:00.000-05:00

Here is a super cute and clever diy for your wedding day, that I also plan to do for mine. The super super easy diy comes from Honestly...WTF and you can find the original tutorial here. Enjoy!

"If you don’t absolutely love pom poms or haven’t ever considered making them yourself, perhaps we can sway you after this week’s DIY. We adore pom poms and were beyond excited to discover the Clover Pom Pom Maker, which allows you to crank out pom poms of all sizes and 10 times faster than the conventional method. You will need a few skeins of yarn, a Clover Pom Pom Maker and a pair of scissors."

"The Clover Pom Pom Maker separates the process into two halves; you’ll start the first half of the pom pom by cutting about 7 yards of yarn. A time saving trick is to double it up twice, so you are working with 4 strands at one time. Because time is money, right? Wrap the yarn from one edge of the arch to the other, making sure you have the entire area covered. Close the arch and repeat the same steps on the other side. Once both arches are covered, insert your scissors into the middle ridge and cut along the entire circle. Tie off your pom pom by slipping a piece of yarn along the middle, pull it into a tight knot, open your arch and pull your pom pom maker apart. Trim up your pom pom if necessary but leave the long piece of yarn you used to tie it together, as you’ll need that to attach your pom poms to….well, just about anything."

"We must warn you that this process is quite addicting and you really can’t stop at just one."

Lace is my Fave!

2011-05-18T20:39:00.001-05:00

After fervently searching for linen lace tablecloths for a reasonable price for months, I gave up. I then walked into my mothers kitchen and saw a lace tablecloth covering her round table, and thought to myself "Well, where the hell did she find one?". Upon further inspection, I noticed that it wasn't linen, but instead a plastic vinyl. I couldn't believe that a plastic tablecloth could look so darn good. This was the second that I retracted my statement that I would not use plastic tablecloths at my wedding. I looked online for awhile, finding cheap but cheap quality tablecloths before I came across this one. I am in love. They have it rectangular and round and are around the $10.00 mark. They have a couple other styles, too.

Here are some pictures from a vintage style wedding shoot from my own state (Missouri), shot by Simply Bloom Photography. I am absolutely thrilled to see this shoot, because this is very similar to the wedding I'm planning for myself.

For more of these absolutely stunning photos, you can find them at their original source here.

Mini Cake Love

2011-05-11T18:34:00.000-05:00

I originally wanted a small cake for cutting at my wedding, and cupcakes for people to actually eat. Now, however, that I have found these adorable little mini cakes, I've settled my mind on them. Here are some of the cutest mini cakes ever.

One Dollar Dinnerware

2011-05-10T17:19:00.006-05:00

If you are like me and want real glasses for your wedding, you also might be upset at the prices for them. I sent myself on a mission to find the cheapest glasses to set the table at our reception, and ended up very pleased. Here is a variety of items you can find at the Dollar Tree! For no more than...bum bum bum.....a DOLLAR. I am pleasantly surprised that I can find quality glassware for this cheap. I am ecstatic. Here are a few items you can pick up from there. They also have a wide assortment of catering items and such, plus much more than I'm posting!

Also, if you have them shipped to your local store, you don't pay any shipping! Awesome!

Receptions, Receptions, Receptions!

2011-05-08T20:34:00.001-05:00

My inspiration folder is getting pretty big, so I figure it's about time to dump some of the inspiration photos I've picked up. Some of these make me wish I so had a bigger budget, and they are all so beautiful. Some of them even make me want to change my wedding colors! (We'll see...). Take a look at these!

BEAUTIFUL, aren't they?!

Charming Cakes for Charming Brides

I love looking at wedding cakes! Here are a few I've seen that might make you smile, too. :)

Simple Like Me

2011-05-07T14:52:00.003-05:00

After I just posted about a cute little cake for my dessert table, I decided to look for inspiration for my super simple wedding cake that my aunt is going to make. I came across a couple photos and they are simple, cute, and elegant. I would definitely like to see something like this grace my cake table. Does anybody know where I can find roses like this? Actually, I think I will check Etsy. I can guarantee there are some on there, or someone willing to make some. I can't stop staring. It's so cute.

Satisfied Sweet Tooth

2011-05-07T14:43:00.004-05:00

I find this cake to be so freakin' cute for some reason. I absolutely love it! I was searching the web and stumbled upon this article, and she tells you where you can order this cakestand and many, many others. This is absolutely so delightful, and it looks so yummy! I definitely want a little dessert table full of cakes and goodies to fill the already full tummies of my guests. As for my actual wedding cake, I want something super simple. A one or two tiered cake just so we can cut it for tradition. My aunt bakes and decorates beautiful cakes, so she will be making mine for my wedding. I think she will be relieved to hear that I don't want anything big. This is one of the ways that I am able to have my wedding on a budget. (Probably about $6,000) As for the design, I'm not sure yet. I still have plenty of time to figure out the little details. If anybody has ideas on how to decorate my simple, little wedding cake, I'd love to hear 'em.

Linen Inspiration!

2011-05-06T23:58:00.003-05:00

I found this picture over at bbjlinen. They sell all types of linen that you would need for your wedding. I thought this to be so cute. What a neat idea! If you need tablecloths for your wedding, check them out. I don't recall the prices since I already have mine picked out, but their selection is huge!

HyPOMania

2011-05-04T19:15:00.002-05:00

I really, really want these hanging over each table at my wedding. I think that it will add a complete ambiance to the room. I will make mine myself, but if you are wanting to do this and don't want to do them yourself, check out the many shops on Etsy that have made a hobby to provide you with cute tissue paper poms, such as this one.

If you want to make them yourself, check out Martha Stewart Weddings for the how to: http://www.marthastewartweddings.com/article/pom-poms-and-luminarias

and find all your tissue paper needs here. They are only $35.00 for a pack of 240. If you need less, there's plenty of tissue paper elsewhere, also.

In Love with Another

2011-05-04T18:23:00.001-05:00

Like I said in my first post, I find a lot of dresses that I like on Milanoo. This is one that I am absolutely in love with. I would, of course, order it in white. Would this be an appropriate wedding dress? I would keep it the same color and put it on my bridesmaids, but I'm afraid it would be too much. Thoughts? Also, it's only $141.99. Woot Woot!

Let's Get Floral

2011-05-04T13:29:00.002-05:00

Since my wedding is going to have some pretty dark (but beautiful) colors, I definitely want a floral touch to lighten things up to make it super feminine. However, I don't want to deal with the stress of ordering real flowers, hoping they look okay and hoping that they make it in time, unwilted. It would stress me out to no end if I didn't have everything in my hands, ready to go before my wedding day.

This is why I decided to go with silk flowers. They look real and are super cheap. These are the flowers I decided to go with. The carnations are so cheap but are still super pretty. They have a million colors, too. I wanted to do a mix of colors, but I want mostly cream to lighten up the room. I'm not sure how many flowers I want per table, but they are pretty cheap so I bet I could have enough to make it seem like a spent a fortune. Each flower is only .55/flower, and are really tall so they will fit pretty much any vase you decide to use. I was kind of skeptical about ordering flowers off the internet without knowing what they look like with my own eyes, but I will order a couple beforehand to make sure. However, I'm sure they are fine. David Tutera used this site, after all.

Dinnerware Options

2011-05-04T13:00:00.002-05:00

If you've been trying to decide what you are going to use for dinnerware at your reception, you're just like me. I have a couple of different options, but I'm not sure what to go with. I really wanted the silver charger plates, with plates on top, but I just can't spend that type of money. After looking for awhile, I found a simple alternative. I found these plates:

over at SmartyHadaParty and thought that these would be an excellent replacement for charger plates, since they are actual plates, people can eat off of them, they look wonderful, you can throw them away, and they are only half the price. I then decided that I would get a smaller plate in this design:

I could get both of these plates for just the price of one charger. I definitely prefer this idea. I'm all for less dishes to do at the end of the night. I'm planning on setting each place setting with these plates, the silver on bottom and the polka dot one on top, and then if anybody needs an extra plate then I will buy the super cheap 500-to-a-package for three bucks ones and place them up by the buffet. This would mean that I would need 120 of each plate, which is exactly how much comes in a case of each. $98.00/case means that I will spend roughly $200 for the plates. Kind of pricey compared to buying the cheap-o paper plates, but I think it will definitely be worth it.

This + That = Voila!

2011-05-04T01:20:00.002-05:00

As much as I would love to have mirrored vases, and I really would love to have them, I can't justify spending $10.00/vase. That would mean that I would spend $200 just on vases alone. That doesn't even include the flowers that go in them. Just the vase. This is why I figured I would just make them, and here's how I will do it:

If you go to your local Wal-Mart, go to the craft section near where they have the flowers. You will see this vase:

What's great about this is that these vases, which are about 12" tall and 5" wide, and would normally cost almost $4.00 each online, I found at my Wal-Mart for only $1.50!! That's insane. Add this:

which is less than $5.00/can, and you have instant mirrored vases for around $40.00!(if you have about 20 tables, like I will)

Luxury Linens, Ooo La La!

2011-05-04T00:49:00.002-05:00

Since day 1, I have said that I will buy instead of rent, unless something is just too much money (such as chairs/tables and whatnot). I prefer it this way, because around here, almost everything is almost the same price as buying, and I can easily sell what I bought on Craigslist for 50% of what I bought if for. When I looked into simple tablecloths at the renting places (nearly all of them), they were charging almost $14 per tablecloth, and they weren't even special! Plain, white tablecloths.

This is definitely not what I want. I set out to find the perfect base for each table. Something to add pizazz and sparkle, and I came across these. Since I first saw them there was no doubt in my mind that these would be the ones I would get. Satin tablecloths, the perfect color. (They have a ton of other colors, too, of course). For only $10.79, they might easily be the best steal of the wedding. 20 tables x $11 = $220. Then, Craigslist and/or Ebay, here I come to sell these monsters so I can easily make back $100.

Don't forget about the napkins, either. They don't have satin, but they have them in the regular linen in the same colors that match the tablecloths for only 50 cents/ piece. Just like the tablecloths, I intend to sell them when I'm done.

Simply Inspiration

2011-05-04T00:28:00.000-05:00

I definitely want my wedding to be unique. I want to create almost everything myself (almost to a point of impossibility), and I definitely want my own ideas to shine through. Sometimes, however, I like to scour Google images for inspiration, and that's exactly what I found. This is a beautiful picture of a purple wedding, similar to what I want. Purple and black, with a bit of silver. Beautiful, isn't it? I found it here.

Milanoo = Wedding Savers!

2011-05-04T00:19:00.003-05:00

$139.99

I have looked through countless pages of over-priced, plain, so-not-me dresses that it's not even funny. I've never dreamed about going to the wedding dress store to pick out my dress, taking my mom and sisters and they all cry as soon as they see me in "the one". It definitely wouldn't be like that. Instead it would be me walking out in a countless number of dresses, my mom and sisters telling me everytime that I come out that "it looks good" or "that's hideous". They can either be very opinionated or not at all. Instead of taking the dreadful trip to David's Bridal or an overpriced boutique, I decided to look at dresses online.

It was a very long time ago that I came upon this site, Milanoo , and I have to say that it will be my number one choice for when I decide to take that step to buy my dress. There is not a single

"expensive" dress on the site. Their inventory is 3000+ and they have a million dresses that I have fallen absolutely in love with. They will make your dress fit to you, and any color that you want. You can also customize them in almost any way you can imagine. It's just......FABULOUS. I am on there at least twice a week, scoping out new dresses to find any that I like.

That being said, here are some beautiful dresses (doesn't even put a dent in what they have on their site) that you might love. Check them out! Also, they have free shipping on orders over $99, and you get a free flower girl dress if you spend more than $199! They have a large selection of bridesmaid dresses and tuxes, too.
