Crimson Text, from Toronto-based designer Sebastian Koch who says “Crimson Text is a font family for book production in the tradition of beautiful oldstyle typefaces. There are a lot of great free fonts around, but one kind is missing: those Garamond-inspired types with all the little niceties like oldstyle figures, small caps, fleurons, math characters and the like. In fact, a lot of time is spend developing free knock-offs of ugly “standards” like Times and Helvetica. Crimson Text is inspired by the fantastic work of people like Jan Tschichold, Robert Slimbach and Jonathan Hoefler. I hope that the free type community will one day be able to enjoy Crimson Text as a beautiful workhorse.” Definitely a nice face worth checking out, even though it is still in its early stages. Download the Crimson Text TTF.

I will spare you the oh my darlings, Clementine Sketch is nice in an old-school sort of way, script-like and hand drawn, with an inline fancy flair that feels like a varsity jacket or school logo maybe. Clementine Sketch is the work of chicago resident – currently based at minneapolis college of art & design – freelance designer and illustrator Teagan White. Her website states “Her experience working with a diverse range of clients, from those in the music, fashion, and editorial industries to small business owners and individuals, has allowed her to reject much of the sterility of contemporary design in favor of an aesthetically-focused approach that bridges the perceived gap between graphic design and illustration. Intricate linework, naturalistic rendering, and subdued color are integral to her visual identity, while a fascination with natural history, antiquities, and mortality drives the content of her work.” and i think that pretty much is embodied in Clementine. Download the TTF and enjoy.

From Nate Piekos in 2003 at Blambot, Badaboom is a great font to depict some action! BOOM! You know what i mean? Blambot make some of the best typeface for comic books and for fans of comic books and they are worth checking out! If you are making some batman like blams, Badaboom is great! Also superb for extreme eye catching headlines! Download Badaboom TTF!

“Over the highways and byways the pilgrim goes aflame with the name of my small black rose.” Hey, I think I went to an Irish Pub called the Black Rose in Boston once or twice .. Well, this font has nothing to do with that, but it is a nice face with some interesting flair. A sort of swashy hand drawn cursive flow, maybe sort of pirate-like I would say. (that bar was down by the water) I could see this carved into the name plaque of a pirate ship.
Twenty Dee Bee .. 20DB .. a nice retro-flavored OTF type face from Russian designer Jovanny Lemonad (Ivan Gladkikh).
