Rawengulk Sans

Here it is, the RawengulkSans Font from Poland based Gluk Fonts. A nice, strong Sans Serif typeface that reminds me off Monotype Imaging Univers (you know, Univers was designed by Adrian Frutiger on Swiss principles for Charles Peignot) or so many other popular typeface that run without fancy serifs slowing them down. Rawengulk would by as ideally suited for body copy as it would fit well as a catchy headline. Download the Opentype Face font.

Marko One – also known as Marko Horobchik is a brush-inspired typeface for children’s literature from Cyreal Type Foundry As the name suggests(Horobchik is Ukrainian for sparrow), the initial idea was to create a typeface-companion for Marko the sparrow — a cartoon character by illustrator and type designer Zhenya Spizhovyi. Basic is just that, a nice basic set of letterform designs. The font is from Indonesian vector artist/graphic designer Weknow. Basic is simple, clean and geometric sans serif typeface with a nice heavy feel. So basic it doesnt really need a lot of words to describe. Download the basic TTF.

Thunderthighs

I guess when I get into a groove I stick with it. Another hand drawn, heavy block typeface of the day. This time around it’s Thunder Thighs from S. John Ross from Cumberland Games & Diversions. This is what he had to say about it: Thunder Thighs is a goofy, friendly sort of font, reminiscent of cartoon logos and the like from the late 1970s. Those kinds of shapes, and the comforting nature of huge amounts of black ink on formerly-blank paper, made this one a particularly enjoyable one to create. I drew it with a 0.8mm Pigma and then blackened it with my trusty Sharpie; the whole process was a kind of reversion to childhood. Same principle as “comfort food,” I suppose – a valuable concept in these troubled times. Thunder Thighs is a full keyboard set with a few essential extras like smartquotes and dashes. Blockography

It’s Block Block Blockography, it’s a freeware font (not for commercial use, you know.) Created in 2011 by Måns Grebäck – a great typeface designer and logo artist (from Sweden?) – Blockography is a nice, fun, sketchy bit of fontery with slabby fun block serifs. A bit kiddish maybe, a bit fun, but pretty catchy on a poster perhaps, or something where you want a casual take on a blocky slab face. Download the TTF.

Vhia, from Netherlands based Monkey Garage of the Fonts of Chaos collective and is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution Non-commercial license so check it out! What is Vhia? it’s a tribut to 90s sci fi – with its angular, goemoetric and futuristic characteristics. I could easily see this on an electro punk cyber techno record album sleeve. Old MONKEY GARAGE former member of the “KREW”, his course of the typography pass above all by his influence of urban art. “I am not a typographer, I do not seek to create the perfect letter. Popcorn

Popcorn and Popcorn Sketch are from Billy Argel, a surf-skate-punk-font designer who has put out some great freeware and commercial typefaces recently. Popcorn is a fun sketchy geometric (reminds me of some Josef Albers designs that used to be popular) – there is a sketch verison and a regular version, the regular one is also pretty sketchy though! These are ‘trial’ versions but it looks like they have full character sets, so check out Popcorn! Download the OTF files!
