Join friends of Marie Mason for a benefit movie night, letter writing session and learn more about Marie's case. A video of Marie speaking about the importance of environmental activism and a short presentation on her case and the importance of prison support will begin the evening. Following the amazing 1995 Dutch feminist film "Antonia's Line" will be screened, and we will conclude by writing letters and postcards to Marie. Come out to support this important eco-prison, feminist, friend and mother. And as always amazing vegan food and drink at the counter.

About Marie Mason
Marie Mason is a loving mother of two and a long-time activist in the environmental and labor movements. In March 2008, she was arrested by federal authorities for charges related to two acts of property destruction that occurred in 1999 and 2000; no one was injured in either of them. She accepted a plea bargain and was sentenced on February 5, 2009 to just under 22 years. This is the longest sentence to date for any "Green Scare" prisoner.

About the Movie for Marie:
"Antonia's Line" is a 1995 film by Dutch director, writer and feminist Marleen Gorris. The film, described by its director as a "feminist fairy tale," tells the story of the matronal Antonia who, after returning to the anonymous Dutch village of her birth, establishes and nurtures a close-knit communmity. Spanning nearly forty years starting just after World War II, it follows Antonia as she takes over the family farm, befriends a recluse, takes in the village simpleton, and provides a home for a young woman with special needs who has been raped by a brother. The film covers a breadth of topics, with themes ranging from death and religion to sex, intimacy, lesbianism, misandry and love.

So, there's been a lotta hoo-ha about the new candy bars around here, and damn if they ain't good, but I hold a soft spot in my heart for the o.g. vegan candy bars, Tree Huggin' Treat's Crispy Cat bars. I remember living in the boring woods of Vermont and ordering these joints via the internet and them showing up in a little box with melted ice packs, cuz back then they needed to be refridgerated. What a hoot. Anyway, they finally came out with a great new flavor, Chocolate Sundae, and man I think they're just great. Look how happy these doods are:

Between 9 and 11 MILLION animals die every year in shelters and only you can stop it. I do my best to save every life I can but rescues are always full, and there are more animals coming in everyday than there are homes. My point to all of this DON'T BREED OR BUY WHILE SHELTER PETS DIE!"
