Bird Treats

It's still March, so the little birdies are still hungry from this long cold, snowy winter. So, I thought I would pop in here for a quick bird feeder craft. It's so easy the kids can make them and it's fun to watch the birds enjoy something yummy to eat. This should hold them over, till Spring berries start popping up.

What You'll Need:

Cardboard toilet paper tubes
Wax paper or newspaper
Honey or peanut butter
Plastic table knives
Two foot pieces of yarn
Paper plates
Bird seed (choose small birdseed, because it will stay on the cardboard tube more easily than larger varieties)

Now, just hang them up in your tree. I hung mine outside of my front window. I enjoy watching them eat while I relax in the morning. I will post a picture when the birds are eating their treats.

Now, Let's make a fun Halloween decoration for the bathroom. When the holiday is over you can rip it apart and use it.

Supplies needed: TP, orange tissue paper, green tissue paper or crape paper, black duck tape, hot glue gun.

Cut out pumpkin eyes, nose and mouth. You can get as creative as you want with this.

Center the TP on the orange tissue paper and then tuck it in the center.

Should look like this.

Glue some green paper in the center for the stem. Stick on the duck tape facial pieces.

Walla.........I LOve it.

Fall Fest Foods
Today we enjoyed some fall fun at my daycare. I made a very easy pumpkin cake, scarecrow cake and apple cookies. So simple, I had the help of my grandson making them with me.

Single pan cake, orange icing and writing icing for the eyes nose and mouth. Green candy for stem.
Easy and cute for the kiddies to enjoy.

These are really yummy and so simple to make. Just follow the directions on the box. :-)

Patriotic Napkin Holder

Supplies Needed:

Three Styrofoam stars ( I bought mine at Michael's) You may be able to buy in red white and blue. That would save a lot of the work.
6" x 5" piece of 7/16" thick Styrofoam
White glue
Craft knife
Very fine glitter
6" x 2" piece of blue felt
Acrylic paint red, white and blue

Now it' time to assemble the napkin holder !!

Cut the Styrofoam into two pieces; one 6" x 2" and the other 6" x 3"
Paint both Styrofoam rectangles with the blue paint. Paint all the sides of the larger piece but leave one of the 6" x 2" sides unpainted on the smaller piece. Let dry completely.
Paint one star red, one white and one blue. While the paint is still wet sprinkle one of the flat sides of each star with the Glamour Dust. Let dry completely
Glue the felt to the unpainted side of the smaller rectangle using white glue.
Lay this rectangle on your work surface felt side down. Stand the larger rectangle up so that it buts up against the smaller rectangle as pictured and glue in place with the hot glue gun.
Stack the stars into a pyramid and hot glue them together. Be sure that the glittery side of each star is on the same side.
Using hot glue, attach the stacked stars to the bottom piece of Styrofoam so the glitter side is facing out.

Now all you have to do is add the napkins and your 4th of July Napkin holder is ready for your BBQ table.

Coka Cola Reindeers

This is the easiest craft to make and it's so cool.

I used old fashion Coca Cola bottles to make reindeer. All you have to do is glue a few eyes on the bottles,a red pom-pom for his nose if you want them to be Rudolph, any other color will be fine too. Then twist two brown pipe cleaners around the bottle cap, to make them look like antlers. So simple to make.....I think they would make a nice gift also.

Supplies needed : hot glue gun, googlie eyes, old fashion Coca Cola bottles ( I bought mine at Wal-Mart), brown pipe cleaners
and red pom poms.

This is our table full of the crafts we made.
I found my ceramic tree that my grandmother made me in 1984.
I cleaned it up and glued missing bulbs back on it. It's shinning brightly now.
My granddaughter made the felt Angel and the gingerbread men
My daughter made the gold bulbs with her families name on them. My daughter in law made the
Rudolph ornament which has my grandsons name and year on it.
We had so much fun.

Two Turtle Doves

Two Turtle Doves
Christmas craft

I was excited to make these "Two Turtle Doves" ornaments for my Christmas tree.
Here's how I made them:

I used stiff white felt and I also used a sheet of silver felt with an adhesive back.
I goggled a printable dove stencil and used that to trace the dove out line.
I cut out the birds and the wings.

I found little tiny jems that I glued on for the eyes.
I cut the wings out of the silver sheet and applied them on the bird.
I then poked a hole and used some blue ribbon to hang on the tree.
This is such a simple craft but they look so peaceful, which works out well because :
"Peace" is my theme for this holiday season.

Family Christmas Craft Night: First Craft

First Christmas Craft : is a scented snowy candle holders

Supplies needed, Epsom salts, Mod Podge, ribbon and blue snowflake stickers.

First craft to make were these snowy candle holders. They are so easy to make.
I applied Mod Podge on the bottom half of a pickle jar and then sprinkled spearmint scented Epsom salts. After the jar dries, I then applied a second coat of Mod Podge on it.

Next, I glue a blue ribbon and a bow on the top. I also had snow flake stickers and applied a few of them to the top part of the jar.
I am putting mine in the bathroom for the holidays. They just smell so good. Just add a tea candle and it's ready to scent the whole room.

PEACE CANDLE

Here is a simple dollar store craft. I bought 5 tall white glass candles, small wooden letters, you get 3 letters in each packet and gold and silver glitter. First, I Mode Podged gold glitter onto the letters. I let them dry for a few hours and then applied a second coat.
I also applied glue to the bottom of the jars and then added silver glitter to the glued area. Next I tied gold string to each letter and then tied them to the candles. I used a big glue dot to the back of each candle to hold the tied gold string to. That way it stays in place. This project cost about 10 dollars and I bought everything from the dollar store.

Family Pumpkin Decorating Party

This year we had less family members at our little party. My step son was unable to make it due to a musical practice and my son and his wife just had a baby boy (he is such a cutie). My daughter and her family came over and we had a blast. Best thing is, making memories with the grandkiddies. Enjoy a few pictures from our family pumpkin decorating party.

Fall Banner

This has been the summer of surgeries. My sister had surgery the first half of summer, and then I had surgery the second half . So other then a few batches of cupcakes, I have not had the energy to make any crafts. BUT........it's now my favorite time of the year and what better way to welcome it, but with a fun fall banner. I am posting the printable letters that I downloaded from one of my favorite blog sites. Stop by there and check out her blog. It's a fun site. Supplies, F. A. L. L. letters, felt and fabric cut outs of leaves and pumpkins, twine, strips of fall colored fabric, fall color card stock paper (scrapbook paper) and of course glue sticks and a hot glue gun.

My sister Debbie, arranging what she wants her banner to look like.
She used a whole puncher to punch holes in the paper. She then glued the leaves to the card stock, next she carefully strung the twine though the paper. Finally, she tied strips of cloth between if banner.

The girls cutting out their card stock. They used crimping scissors to give them a cool look. They are going to glue their letters to the card stock.

I used fall paper that I purchased on sale at the end of the season.

I made a second banner alternating the felt leaves and pumpkins and tying the strips of cloth between them.

I love how it turned out.

Happy 4th of July !

Happy 4th of July upcake style. I made these patriotic cupcakes for our daycare celebration, and my daughter Nicole made the large cupcake. I hope everyone has a safe and happy Independance day.

What you don't see in this picture, is how I fell off the chair and dropped my camera in the effort to shut the light off. I wanted to capture the lit sparklers. Never happen in time.

The reason we have been making cupcakes is because I recently spent quite a bit of cash on cupcakes. After the purchase I thought to myself, "I could make these cupcakes, why would I pay someone else to make them"? So, Nicole and I have been making cupcakes for recent events.

Picnic Cupcakes

Yummy cupcakes, that are perfect to take on an "Old Fashion Picnic". The picnic basket was a treasure I found a few years ago at a flea market. I just love it. Okay, back to the cupcakes. My daughter and I made these cupcakes and kind of stuck with a picnic theme. We used butter cream frosting and chocolate and confetti vanilla for the cake part. I especially like the yellow crystals we used on top of the frosting. My son in law made some refreshing home made lemon aid to go with our treat.

My daughter Nicole came up with this craft. Painted garden rocks, they will mark each row of vegetables in dad's garden. You could do the same for a flower garden too. Nicole just used acrylic paints and painted the rocks to coordinate with the veggies. Then she painted the name of the veggie on the rock. You can spray them with a lacquer to keep them from washing off during a rain. What an awesome father's day gift this turned out to be.

How cool are these garden rocks?

New Mommy's Gift Basket

I love making up gift baskets. I made this basket especially for my daughter in law, and gave it to her at her baby shower. The new baby gets so many gifts and sometimes the new mommy gets forgotten. So, I like to make "a new mommy basket", full of items that the new mommy can use to pamper herself. I love how this one turned out.

Supplies I used. Candles, body lotion, body wash, blue towels, socks, face wash, little make up bags, some candy and a few other odds and ends. You can add whatever you like.

I just stuck with the blue theme, since the baby is going to be a boy.

I usually put rolled up towels to build some depth. Then add the items around the towels.
It's a good idea to use glue dots to secure the items to each other. That way everything will stay put and not fall out of the basket. In this case the basket is a blue bowl.

The Finished product. Of course, my crazy Vera must be involved.

Happy Birthday Centerpieces

I am a bit late with this post..... : <
My adorable grandson turned one last month, I don't know where time goes, it just flies by. Anyway, the birthday boy has a little stuffed giraffe that he takes everywhere. So, his mommy came up with the idea to go with a giraffe themed party. With that thought in mind, my daughter came up with these adorable giraffe centerpieces. They are so darn cute.

They were so easy to make. We also decided to make a few red and blue ones to add a touch of color.
Here is how we made them. We painted the mason jars with acrylic paints. The bottoms were painted with yellow or orange and then when they were dry, we painted the brown marks with a sponge. This gives the jar a spotted giraffe pattern. The heads were just pom-poms that were made out of tissue paper. Next we cut the antennas, eyes and mouths out of cardstock paper and painted the eyes and smiles with white acrylic paint. Then carefully hot glued the heads onto the top of the jars. That's it! They turned out so darn cute.

Flip Flop Wreath

Summer time is approaching, so we need a few crafts for this time of year.

My sister made this flipping flip flop wreath.

Stuff ya need.

flip flops (all the same size)
sand toys

gems

ribbons

and anything else you may what to decorate the flip flops with.

Lay out all your supplies.

Next, you cut out a circle made of cardboard. Then cut out the center of it, so it's hallow.

Now , position your flip flops going around the cardboard all going in the same direction. Once you like your color combination of flip flops, glue each one onto the cardboard. Then add more flip flops, but this time turn them upside down and then make sure they are all going in the same direction.

Once the flip flops are all glued down add whatever you want to them. Debbie used ribbons, gems and sand toys. How colorful is this summer wreath ?

This will look perfect on Debbie's summer house door.

A Manly Birthday Bucket !

It's always difficult for me to buy my husband, a birthday gift. He is one of those people that has what he needs in life. So, I thought why not put a gift basket together for him. I picked a "Car" theme. It's a "Manly Birthday Bucket".

I added a few car magazines, wash clothes, a sponge, leather wipes, Windex, a car air freshener, beef jerky, mixed nuts and the first season of "The Dukes of Hazzard" and I put everything in a wash bucket.

How to make this pretty summer wrap!

When we were in Aruba a lot of women wore this scarf like cover up. You could wear them anytime on the beach or just sitting around having drinks. It's made using a plastic circle that has two openings. You could buy the little plastic circles almost everywhere. I am sure they will sell them anywhere summer scarfs, or cover ups are sold. Take a look at the plastic cirle at the top of my cover up.

They are so easy. I just love mine.

Aruba Vacation

We just got back from a wonderful vacation spent in Aruba. This was the first time that the hubby & I were there. It was extra fun because my sister and her hubby were there with us. It was a good thing too, because they were there before, so they showed us around the island. We enjoyed a much needed R & R vacation. We soaked up the sun and enjoyed the food, drinks, nightly entertainment and best of all we were in the ocean for hours at a time. The ocean was so crystal clear and blue, just magnificent! I loved making so many memories and truly enjoyed spending time with Len, Debbie and Chip. Life is good.

We made lot's of fun & and not so fun memories. We even met up with one of my cousins that we hardly get the chance to see. I am posting a few pictures of that vacation, while I pack for Aruba.
