I call it the long-lost savoury-cousin of the English Trifle. Both require your own serving plate to eat from and both need their own glass bowl to show-off their layers. Mr Foodie's particular route entailed starting at Rippleside Park in Geelong at 6am and riding to Queenscliff to meet the Sorrento ferry. From Sorrento the ride continued for several hours until the finishing line at Alexandra Gardens in Melbourne's CBD. But we liked them so much, I made them again and took more photographs (most importantly during daylight hours). I finally got to try two 'upmarket' restaurant-quality sandwich joints in Melbourne's CBD and then on Friday, New York's famous Carnegie Deli featured one of my favourite sandwiches, 'The Reuben' on Masterchef.
