Remember, this is just a single unit so it’s more about using it solo than with other riders with a headset.

After the installation in my Icon Airframe, the next step was to get it hooked up with my phone. I’m currently using the iPhone 4S so the pairing wasn’t going to be a problem. Turning on the headset, putting it into discovery mode and the SMH5 was ready to make the connection. Opening up the settings of the iPhone with the bluetooth turned on the Sena unit was quickly found. Paired up now it was time to test out a few things.

Inside the box was this little 4 fold quick start guide. I figured there was no way that these few short pages were going to get me up and running so fast, but everything needed is right there. Learning out how to use it is super simple with the large jog dial and big red button. Volume, answering, talking, voice command… all right there within a couple of buttons – dead simple operation!

Music is one of the main reasons I wanted to try this headset. I like to have something inside my helmet at a low volume when I ride. Once I opened up Music on the iPhone it gave me the option of where I wanted to hear the music – speakers or headset. One quick touch and music was playing out the speakers inside my helmet! While the volume of music gets quite loud with the helmet on, I tend to keep it about half volume. Sound quality from the speakers was better than I expected as well.

Phone conversations were quite easy too. While I would never take a call when riding, I did try it out in the neighborhood with a friend, just for kicks. The sound coming from the speakers was a little lower than that of the music and I found that I had to turn it up a little to hear over the sound of the engine and wind. The headset picked up without fail when taking a call and also if I used my phone to make the call.

Over the last few weeks I’ve made calls with the headset while out riding. My buddies and wife were getting kind of sick of me calling as I was testing out the SMH5 unit. Pulling off in a parking lot, making a quick call without having to take my gloves and helmet off is quite nice… Especially when it’s to call the wife and tell her the “traffic is bad” or “I got lost”… or something along those lines without telling her I just wanted to ride a little further :)

To my surprise, Siri worked like a champ using the Sena headset. So, if you have an iPhone 4S with Siri there are no issues at all with using it to communicate with your phone. Push the red button on the side of your helmet and you’re just a voice command away! While listening to some music the need arises to listen to something else, just tell Siri what you want! Need to send a quick text while at the stoplight that you’re on your way home – easily done while not taking your attention away from riding or having to stop and take everything off to do it.

I’ll follow up in another month or two, but right now I’m really happy with the unit, battery life and functionality for such a low cost unit. My only complaint right now would be that the ‘click’ button on the jog dial could be a little tougher to push. Sometimes when I try to change the volume with gloves on I end up pushing the dial in and initiate a click. I’ve gotten used to the need for the softer touch, but making that a little harder to push in would be ideal – but it’s not a deal breaker by any means.

Till next time, I’ll be listening to music in my helmet without the need for the wired up system I had before getting this Sena unit.

The results are incredible…Independent dyno testing has shown that by just changing out the stock pipes with this new Powerflow III two into one system, riders will experience up to a 20% increase in both horsepower as well as torque. With Samson’s new system, you can take a stock HD and turn it into a high performance bike by simply changing out the pipes.

Samson has over 745 different styles to choose from and they have all styles available for Harley’s new 2012 model lineup. And now there’s no more guessing what a particular style will sound like…listen to each of Samson’s exhausts right from their internet site.

Brukus® Motorcycle Parts, LLC– leading the industry in Securiting Products – has now released their newest anti-theft product! This newest invention, the ShieldShackle™ for Heritage Softails, is designed to securely attach and prevent theft of the detachable windshields made for Harley-Davidson’s Softail Motorcycles from 1994 to present.

ShieldShackle™ (also produced for Road Kings) was first suggested by a Brukus customer, and has become a popular item from more than just the security angle. Along with making sure the detachable windshield can’t be stolen, ShieldShackle™ also makes the windshield more stable on the bike. The vibration of the windshield is noticeably lessened when secured by Brukus’ ShieldShackle™.

The custom-designed and *Patent Pending* laser cut brackets are made of 304 Stainless Steel and attach to the detachable windshield frame at the same position where the OEM spring wire clips are located. The installation is a simple assembly of the brackets to each side of the windshield frame.

Here is what customers are saying about the ShieldShackle™ for Heritage Softails:

“With the ShieldShackle™ in place, I have confidence that it will protect from a quick removal of the windshield when the motorcycle is left unattended. I would recommend the ShieldShackle™ to anyone wanting a more securely attached windshield.”

“When I bought my “new to me” Heritage it had a quick release windshield that I would not have purchased myself. It rattled in the wind due to the quick release clips. I don’t know about you but I would rather put my money in my fuel tank than replace a windshield. Brukus had the perfect solution, the ShieldShackle. Now thanks to ShieldShackle my windshield is much more sturdy when I’m traveling on the highways at higher speeds. I have no worries that I will lose it on a highway or to theft. Thanks Brukus!.”

The ShieldShackle™ kit comes complete with all that is needed to install on a Heritage Softail detachable windshield.
