For more than 30 years, Mr Duncan was closely connected with the town’s football clubs.

He was particularly interested in the development of future players, which is why his family contributed £1000 to the club at his funeral.

She said, ” “Back when it was Turriff Boys Club, Web was a coach for his two sons.

“For more than 30 years, he was strongly connected with football in Turriff.

“He was a big believer in the youth system and seeing players improve.

“When Web was unexpectedly taken from us last year, we were all devastated, and the clubs rallied to help his family in any way they could.

“At his funeral, donations were given, and his family opted to give it to the youth teams because they knew that was what Web would have wanted.

“We’ll now take our time deciding how we’ll spend the money, and we’ll involve the rest of the family in the process.

“We want to put the money toward something that will last a long time and that Web would like to see happen.”

Lesley Chapman, chairwoman of Turriff United Youth Football Club, expressed her gratitude for the donation.

In December of last year, Mr Duncan was killed in a car accident near Oldmeldrum.

Mr Duncan was recently on the committee of Turriff United and was instrumental in bringing new facilities to The Haughs ground. Mrs Chapman was presented with the money by Mr Duncan’s wife Marlene, sons Gary and Kevin, and grandchildren Owen, Adele, and Webster, who all play for Turriff United Youth Football Club.
