Team news

United boss Ferguson is facing a big dilemma regarding his goalkeeper after summer recruit David de Gea produced a shaky performance in the cup setback at Liverpool.

De Gea coped reasonably well with Stoke's aerial bombardment during the 1-1 draw at the Britannia Stadium back in September, but has been overlooked in the Premier League in favour of Anders Lindegaard in recent matches.

However, reports in the Tuesday papers claim Lindegaard suffered an ankle injury in training, which could lead to De Gea starting again.

Rio Ferdinand could return to add his experience to United's defence after only being a substitute at Liverpool following a recent back complaint, while captain Nemanja Vidic is still out.

Wayne Rooney, Nani and Phil Jones are also expected to still be missing for the Red Devils, along with Anderson, Tom Cleverley, Ashley Young and Darren Fletcher.

Stoke, in contrast, have only one major fitness concern after Matthew Etherington was forced to come off during the second half of the Derby win.

The winger had picked up a groin injury and Jermaine Pennant is on stand-by for his first start of 2012 if Pulis decides not to gamble on Etherington.

Mamady Sidibe (knee) is a long-term absentee but apart from those two manager Pulis has virtually a full squad to choose from.

Swansea are expected to restore a host of players to their line-up having opted to make changes for the FA Cup exit at Bolton.

Swansea and Manchester City are the only sides not to have suffered back-to-back Premier League defeats this season, but the Welsh side will need to avoid losing to the Blues to maintain that record.

First-choice keeper Michel Vorm will be restored in goal while Neil Taylor should return at left-back ahead of Fede Bessone.

Wingers Scott Sinclair and Nathan Dyer are expected to start along with Joe Allen and passing machine Leon Britton.

Swansea's on-loan midfielder Josh McEachran is unavailable for selection against his parent club.

Chelsea will travel to South Wales without John Terry after the England captain was ruled out by a knee injury.

That means £7million January signing Gary Cahill should make his debut for the club alongside Brazilian David Luiz at the heart of defence.

Manager Andre Villas-Boas has midfield issues to contend with after Ramires damaged knee ligaments in their weekend FA Cup win over QPR.

He joins Jon Obi Mikel on the sidelines while veteran Frank Lampard is rated at only 50-50 to face the club he played for on loan some 17 years ago.

The Blues have completed the signing of midfielder Kevin De Bruyne, although the 20-year-old Belgium international will remain with Genk until the summer.

Arsene Wenger: "I felt 2-0 was very harsh for us at half-time, but it was a question of scoring the 2-1 (goal) and keeping our structure and not doing anything silly. Fortunately we got an early 2-1. It is an opportunity but you can see today how difficult the games are. But we played at home, we wanted to qualify and we did it ... I cannot say nothing will happen (in the transfer market) but it would be a little bit of a miracle now. For us the biggest thing is to get our players back. I have spoken to Jack today. His morale is strong. Hopefully we will have good news."

Alex McLeish: "We still had chances to at least get a draw. A terrible eight minutes we had. I thought the second penalty was a bit harsh. We've just got to take it on the chin and move on to the next league game. The (first) goal gave them a huge lift. I didn't think they looked as if they could score but that goal gave them a huge lift. But I expected a reaction from Arsenal. Maybe we didn't defend as compactly. The (Arsenal) midfield started to get a bit of possession and that gave them the ascendancy."

Defender Francis Coquelin has recovered from a hamstring problem, but midfielder Jack Wilshere suffered a setback in his rehabilitation from an ankle injury. Full-back Kieran Gibbs (groin) should return to full training next week, but Carl Jenkinson (back), Andre Santos (ankle) and midfielder Abou Diaby (hamstring) are still out while strikers Marouane Chamakh and Gervinho are away at the African Nations Cup.

Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor has recovered from sickness, after he had to be substituted at half-time because of the bug during last weekend's win at Wolves. Fellow striker Emile Heskey (Achilles) and midfielder Stephen Ireland (hamstring) are also back in contention after resuming training.
