If budget is a large concern, then start off at our categories to find wedding favours under R10 and those between R10 and R25. Yes, it is not easy to find something that is worth anything for so little, but here they are!

Something about wedding favours is that they are personal. They are there to show your appreciation and thanks to your guests. There is nothing more personal than having items that hold the special details of your wedding day. What printed candles do you do?

We print on candles for any occasion.

When it comes to weddings we usually create personalised candles for:

Wedding favours (various shapes and sizes)

Wedding invitations (various shapes and sizes)

Unity candles (we do a 3-piece set, 5-piece set and "budget" set)

What is the difference between a 3-piece unity set and a 5-piece unity set?

If you measure out the sizes you will see that the candles are quite large.

A 3-piece unity candle set consists of:

One 10cm x 30 cm candle
Two 7cm x 22.5cm candles

A 5-piece unity candle set consists of:

One 10cm x 30 cm candle
Two 7cm x 22.5cm candles
Two shrine candles (size of ordinary dinner candles)

We also have a budget unity candle set which consists of:

One 10cm x 30 cm candle
Two shrine candles (size of ordinary dinner candles)

Is there a minimum quantity of candles?

For wedding favour candles or wedding invitation candles there is a minimum quantity of 50.

For the unity candles you can buy just 1 set.

What is included in the price?

Design of the graphics
1 revision of the design if required
The candle
The printing
The ribbon (scroll, church and unity candles)
Cellophane wrapping or cylindrical container (church, potjie and unity candles)

What can I have printed on the candles?

Virtually whatever you would like.

You choose your text, colours, fonts, pictures…even photos.

We will assist with the design if you just want to send us the basics of what you require.

For a wedding invitation, unless there is little text or the candle is large, we would probably print on the front and back of the candle. For a wedding favour candle you may want your initials or a picture on the back. For the unity candles you could, for example, have ribbon top and bottom or perhaps that is too busy and we recommend ribbon on the bottom only.

It is completely up to you.

How do I order?

Whether you would like courier – additional cost, please provide your location. Alternatively you can collect (Cresta area, Johannesburg; by appointment only, Mon – Fri, between 8:30 and 16:00; excluding public holidays)

What is the ordering process?

Send through your ordering email as per above.
We will respond with an order confirmation form.
Once we have received full payment we will start with your order.
You then need to send us any details that are required for the candles e.g. colours, text, images, photos etc. You can send the entire design or we will assist with your design using the basics that you would like.
We will send through a couple of options of graphics for your approval.
We cater for 1 revision of the graphics if desired.
When everything has been finalised, we will create your candles.

How long will they take?

Given no unforeseen delays, favour / invitation candles will take 3 - 4 weeks. Unity candles will take 2 – 3 weeks.

We can on occasion do a rush order but there may be a fee involved – please inquire.

We always recommend ordering wedding items sooner rather than later as time can run away with one.

What types of glasses do you have for personalisation?

We print on 3 types of glasses and 4 different candle holders. We also do personalised printed mugs.

Where do I find pictures of the glasses?

There are pictures of the glasses in our store online in the personalised favour glassware category.

What does the price include?

The price is indicated as per printed glass item.

This price includes:

Artwork i.e. drawing up of and formatting the graphics
Printing set-up i.e. preparing the image and machine for printing
The glass
The printing

There are no other costs for the glasses (except delivery if you require).

These prices are for 1 colour print on 1 side of the glass item.

Candle holders do not include the candle.

Can I provide my own glasses?

Unfortunately not. This will create admin and handling tasks that will involve additional costs and we do not cater for this option.

Our stocks are bought in bulk and we aim to find the cheapest prices.

Are the glasses clear or frosted?

The glasses are clear. We only use clear glasses.

How do I go about choosing my design?

The design on your glass is entirely up to you. You can:

Choose one of the designs in our online store (visit the links indicated above).
Make some changes to one of the current designs.
Create your own design and send it through to us.
Send through a picture for the glass e.g. doves (if that is your theme) or an element from your invitation design or a Chinese symbol etc.

You choose your text, your text font, your image (if you want one) and your print colour.

We will do any formatting required – this is included in the artwork fee.

What colours can you print in?

We have several colours available, just let us know what you would like.
We can print in white.
We have what we call an “etch” colour print. This looks like etching or sandblasting but it is not. It is still a print. The etch “colour” does not cost more than the “ordinary” colours.
We do not print in silver or gold.
If you are very specific about your colour shade, rather choose something neutral like black, white or etch.

Is there a minimum order?

There is a minimum quantity of 80 pieces.

If you need less than 80, think about using the extra as décor and having a set for yourselves as a keepsake to use forever after.

We recommend ordering about 5 glasses more than you require to cover print under-runs – usually these don’t occur.

We cannot print less than 80 pieces so rather order more than you require as we often have couples returning wanting another 10 or 20 and we cannot do this.

Can I have a different name on each glass?

The minimum print for one design is 80 glasses. Changing anything on a design constitutes a new design. So we will not be able to do individually printed names on each glass.

Can I order a sample of the glassware with my print design?

The minimum print run is 80 glasses so we cannot provide glassware samples.

How do I order?

Send through an email to Orders[at]ForTheBride.co.za with the following information:

Your name and contact details
The type of glasses or candle holders you would like.
The quantity.
Whether you would like courier delivery (additional cost) – if so, please provide your area – or whether you would prefer to collect. Collection is from the Cresta area in Johannesburg. Collection is by appointment Mon – Fri between 8:30 and 16:00; excluding public holidays.

When we receive your order we will send through an order confirmation form.

Once we have received confirmed payment of the full amount we will start with your order.

What happens once I’ve ordered?

First we will discuss the design of the graphics, print, colours etc.

Some pointers on your glass print design:

As mentioned above you can:

provide the entire design
choose a design that you see on our website
take a design that you see on our website and make a few changes
send us an image and design outline

Please provide us with any specific details for the design e.g. names, wedding date etc. as you would like them to appear on the glass e.g. date format, shortening of names
We need to know the colour of the print that you require.

Once that has been decided we will send through the graphics within a few days for your approval.

We cater for 1 revision of the graphics.

When you have signed-off on it, we will start with the printing.

Your glasses will be ready 2 – 3 weeks thereafter.

How long does it take?

Your order can take up to 3 weeks given prompt decisions on the design and no unforeseen delays.

We always recommend sooner rather than later on any wedding items as time easily runs away with one. We know!

Furthermore, although unlikely, we can run out of stock (especially around Nov/Dec), there could be strikes and all manner of unforeseen events.

What if I need my glasses sooner?

We can occasionally handle a rush order. It depends on our factory schedule. Please inquire as to whether it is possible.

There may be a rush order fee involved.

A Romantic Wedding

If you are planning a romantic wedding day, then this lovely wedding of Caroline Lengert and Ruan Rabie will transport you there.

The couple were married at Tres Jolie in Ruimsig on 8 August 2010 and their pictures tell of all the love that surrounded them.

Caroline shares some of her wedding with us...

What was your experience of planning your wedding?

It was very hectic! I only gave myself about 4 months to plan the whole wedding so I was extremely stressed most of the time. But all the time and effort I put into it, thanks to my helpful bridesmaids, I managed to get everything sorted in time and it all turned into the perfect wedding – no hassles!

How did you choose your wedding venue?

I researched all nearby wedding venues and then my husband and I took a drive out as far as Muldersdrift to visit these. In the end we fell in love with Tres Jolie, which is just 5 minutes’ drive from our home. It’s a really stunning wedding venue and would recommend it to all future couples – the staff are so professional and can cater for all your needs.

What wedding style did you decide on and why?

I tried to go for a winter style with a bit of rock ‘n roll mixed into it since my husband and I both love music (he plays in a band).

I chose red and black, with a dash of white as the theme colours and we added a lot of our favourite rock hits for the ceremony and reception.

Tell us a little about your wedding reception decor.

I tried to keep everything as simple as possible

and did most of the décor myself with the help of

friends and family.

The wedding cake and cupcakes were baked by my mother, who is an experienced caterer, and she helped me make the wedding favours – very simple, 5 white sugar coated almonds in a red organza bag with a black butterfly sewed on. These also served as table name settings as each guest’s name was attached to the wedding favour.

The rest of the décor was organised by the venue who stuck with my colour scheme and added funky tablecloths and runners.

What about your flowers?

The bouquet and bridal table were arranged by my local florist using red and white roses. I also bought extra bunches of flowers to make the table arrangements myself to save on costs.

In the end, my maid of honour spent the whole morning of the wedding day making these! I was very happy and impressed with the way they turned out. We used red roses and gerberas and put them in silver buckets with a red/black ribbon tied around it.

And the wedding dress!

Due to unforeseen circumstances, I only managed to find a wedding dress I liked 2 weeks before the wedding! Needless to say, I didn’t rest easy till then. It was a very simple strapless dress with beading on the front, which was very flattering for my voluptuous figure. I

immediately felt like a bride when I tried it on and knew that this was the one!

What were your most special moments?

The most special moment was when my husband surprised me by singing me a song! He sang the first verse of Lifehouse’s “You and Me” then his best friend took over while he scooped me up for our first dance as husband and wife. I felt like the luckiest girl on earth! And of course, walking up the aisle with my dad while my husband to be and our cute little 8 month old boy both waited expectantly for me at the altar. It was hard to fight back the tears!

What is your advice to brides-to-be?

Try giving yourself at least 8-12 months before the wedding to plan. It’s amazing how much planning is involved for just one day! However, don’t try to do everything yourself – use your friends and family as much as possible.

The Zanzibar Dream Wedding

Today we have a captivating tale from Natalie Duncker on her recent wedding in Zanzibar where she and Franscois Duncker spent an exciting and somewhat different time planning their special day...

It all began one cold July morning in the mountains of Kwa-Zulu Natal in South Africa. It was love at first sight. Mica and Ciro, two beloved cats, fell head over tails for each other and moved in with Francois. I wasn’t impressed. However… little did I know that these psychic cats foresaw what was to be the start of a wonderful romance.

Three years and five cats later, Francois and I found ourselves on the tropical island of Zanzibar, planning our wedding. Having worked together with Sjani and Etienne of Weddings on Zanzibar for two years, we had been involved with many beach and sandbank weddings, and felt like doing something a little out of the box. Zanzibar is a small community and, by asking around and finding out about local history, we came across Salome’s Gardens in Bububu, just north of Stone Town: the private gardens of a true princess.

Princess Salme was born in 1844, the daughter of the first Sultan of Zanzibar, Seyyid Said, and one of his Circassian concubines. Parts of her early years were spent at a villa in Bububu, Salome’s Gardens. Her story is one of romance and intrigue. She started off her life as an Arabian princess living on a spice island, only to sail away aboard the British vessel, The Highflyer, to join her German lover, Rudolph Heinrick Ruete. In 1867 she married him and her name changed to Mrs. Emily Ruete.

The gardens house a beautiful building, filled with Omani architecture and influence. Walled gardens embody the charm that we were looking for; a perfect wedding venue. We teamed up with Sjani and Etienne to create the wedding of our dreams, and we managed to secure the use of the venue.

Our good friend Lise Townsend, started us off with an amazing vintage style postcard e-invite, which whisked itself off to the far corners of the earth, and with that started a marvelous adventure. To get us into the swing of things, our wedding photographer and friend Aisha Gothey, suggested an e-shoot. For a whole day we traveled the length of the island, visiting factories and forests and capturing the enchantment of engagement.

From the beginning we decided that, since the wedding was going to be far from family and friends abroad, we were going to try make it as much of a family affair as we could. Three Bridesmaids and two groomsmen from England, Australia and South Africa helped Francois and I decide on colours and designs for wedding. The wedding dress was a family heirloom, my mother’s dress with ribbon from my grandmother’s dress. The bridesmaid dresses and groomsmen trousers were made by a Zanzibar tailor and their sandals also handmade in Zanzibar.

The wedding cake took more planning. A large fruit cake was made and flown in from South Africa by Helga, Francois’s mother. The icing orchids were handmade by my grandmother, Emily, delicately guarding them over four flights. My mother, Leigh, and my sister Louise spent the first day of their holidays making the last tier of the cake, and together with Helga and Sonja they patiently iced it.

A last minute meeting with Waldemar, of Mtoni Marine Restaurants, ensured that any catering issues could be ironed out. Having a few vegetarians attending the wedding could have been quite tricky, especially since most South Africans are notorious meat eaters! However, Waldemar was kind enough to allow us to tailor-make the menu to suit us and the guests. Lamb spit, braai-ed fish and a selection of veggie-friendly dishes were guaranteed to satisfy the most discerning guest.

Just enough time was left for a pamper session for the girls at Mrembo Spa. Mwaju and Fatuma polished us to perfection. The nails were painted and the last night of being single had started. Our lovely friends had been kind enough to arrange bachelor and bachelorette parties a few months prior, so we were free to calmly enjoy the last hours of being single.

The morning of the wedding day began with a lovely champagne breakfast at Mtoni Marine for the ladies, and then it was off to the Serena Inn to get ready. Charles and his staff arranged the gathering of our guests in the Sunken Garden, overlooking the islands off of Stonetown. With welcome drinks and broad smiles, they pretended it had never rained, and somehow managed to make it disappear all together! The guests were ushered into the waiting bus and taken through Stonetown to the magical walled gardens of Salome.

The melodious babble of fountain, the soft song of the violin, and the familiar faces of family and friends, made the setting beautiful. Father Charles conducted the ceremony as delightfully as only he can do and under the watchful gaze of a remarkable house, with secret gardens and a hidden history, we declared our love.

The afternoon was continued with croquet and petanque, tall glasses of Pimm’s and salmon sandwiches, while overlooking the dhows suspended in the sunset. As the sun began to dip behind mainland Africa, the Bashraf’s version of “Yellow submarine” led the guests to the top veranda of the house. The table of green and gold set the stage for emotional speeches and some delicious food.

The photographs captured by Aisha barely scratch at the surface of day full of love and laughter. The help and support of our friends and family ensured we had a great day, memories that are sure to last a lifetime. The romance of runaway princesses, the allure of bygone times and the rough beauty of Zanzibar added to the day that celebrated the special love that Francois and I share. We hope that our story will be one remembered for time to come.

Like all other aspects of planning a wedding, when it comes to wedding favours, there is a vast range of available options. How do you decide what to give your guests? Well, there are a couple areas to consider that will narrow it down substantially and help you give the perfect wedding favours that speak from your heart.

Refer to your budget

Remember way back when you started your wedding planning and you drew up your budget? Well, the first thing to do is to consult that and see what you set aside for your wedding favours. If you had forgotten them, or forgotten to put together a budget at all (!), then see what you can afford. Budget is one of your main screenings when it comes to choosing your gifts for your wedding guests.

Consider your Wedding Style

Wedding Favours: Ideas for Thank You Wording

Well, you’ve decided on your wedding favours – after much pondering and searching – and then you realise that they need a “Thank you” note or phrase of sorts. Perhaps you are lucky to have chosen wedding favours that already have words of appreciation such as some of our Kate Aspen range or our designer chocolates and you are off the hook – so to speak. However, maybe you need to add a Thank you tag or you are having special items made such as our personalised chocolates, custom candles or personalised wedding favour glasses and are looking for the perfect words.

Remember that the purpose of wedding favours is to thank your guests and show them appreciation for their presence at your wedding day. As such, it doesn’t really matter what your words are, the main thing is that they are heartfelt and that they convey the message that you want to give.

You may want to include the words of a song, a poem, verse or a special quote in your message for your wedding thank you gifts. Here are some other options:

Unique Wedding Favours and Decor

You may have seen glass-blown balls, but here are some in beautiful action.

These are so dainty and captivating. They are not only about decor, but are also wonderful unique wedding favours for your guests to take home with them and cherish as a remembrance of your wedding day.

They can be filled with a host of different items to blend in with and highlight the beauty and individuality of your special day.

We can provide them with leaves, pods, seeds, feathers, beads and whatever your imagination and wedding decor desires.

Some brides have even filled them with coloured jelly and hung them in trees as decorations.

Today Cheryl Smith has shared some photos from her wedding and commented on these delightful wedding favours and decor items.

Cheryl's wedding was of a natural African theme and she displayed the glass balls on branches as part of the table centrepieces.

She decided to fill the balls with a range of different natural items from leaves to seeds. Each one was different.

On the tables she placed gift boxes of handmade card with the guests' names. The guests selected the ball of their choice as their special wedding favour.

A Wedding Venue of Note: Birchwood

The other day I visited Birchwood - Hotel and OR Tambo Conference Centre. Now I know that last bit doesn’t really make you think it is a wedding venue, but it is. And, I must say, a wonderful one at that.

When I hear “conference centre” I think of big, cold auditoriums surrounded by a mass of concrete but Birchwood couldn’t be further from this.

The buildings (and there are many of them) sprawl out over a large property almost forming a mini-village. In fact, they even have golf carts for those who aren’t up to stretching their legs. None of the buildings are more than two stories high so nothing imposing. It’s elegant and unobtrusive.

Birchwood has 50 event venues (can you believe it?) of the full spectrum of sizes and styles so there is really something for most people. These venues are scattered throughout the property and, with its clever design and coordination, you are highly unlikely to even be aware that there could be other events going on in the same area.

I would love to write more about wedding venues and perhaps I shall in the future. The thing is - besides that it takes a fair amount of time to visit them - I have three problems:

I don't experience a wedding or function at the venue.
I want to give my true opinion.
What I value above most is respect and attitude.

The whole banana

So, problem 1: I don't get an overall impression of the venue - and there is no "perfect wedding venue" - or at least I haven't come across one. I just get to meet a few people and have a bit of a viewing. Even then I'm only seeing what it looks like without proper decor and the full vibe so to speak.

How can I truly give a review?

Problem 2: Well, this problem has two parts:

I'm the kind of person who doesn't like or want to offend. I want to keep up the respect and a working relationship - a dilemma of note.

Everybody has different preferences and everybody is going to have a unique wedding so, my opinion doesn't apply to everybody.

Respect Man!

Problem 3 (the biggy): If you think the previous issues were proving difficult for me, this last one of respect is really getting to me. Besides the fact that, in my experience, it is lack of respect is often a problem at venues, it is one of my major values.

Look, to put it as bluntly as I can:

When I contact venues I am not a potential client. So, I don't get treated like a potential client. i.e. respect is often lacking.

Now what?

I've been wondering about how I handle this. The only thing I can come up with at the moment is to give a venue a "respect rating". Mmmm, we'll see how that works.

Actually, maybe I should give ratings for a whole bunch of "woolly" stuff. We'll see how it goes.

Looking back on this philosophical post, I think think it should be labelled my "disclaimer".

A Wedding Venue with a Flair of Difference

Fairly recently I had the pleasure of attending a bridal day at Shepstone Gardens, a wedding venue in the heart of Johannesburg. My was I surprised by just how delightful it is! I'm not sure what I expected, but it certainly satisfied many of my tastes...

Let me give you some of the words that spring to mind when I think back to that lovely day: beautiful, intricate, varied, exciting, intimate, stylish, cozy, personal...

I suppose one could wonder how that selection of words could describe one venue! Let me try to explain...

Shepstone Gardens has, as the name implies, beautiful gardens. In fact, walking through them is like a mini-treasure chest as you come across small waterfalls, koi ponds and indigenous plants. All of this is set against the natural foliage of the Witwatersrand Ridge. Guests can even take a stroll up the mountain and experience the nature that is Johannesburg.

There are several quite unique buildings and function areas situated within this beauty and, with their exquisite stone masonry, they blend into the artistic nature of this venue. These buildings were created at the turn of the 20th century and this special style of building has continued over the years as the venue has grown. This is a tribute to true artisan-ship!

One can really make use of this venue in so many different ways; with your ceremony in the romantic chapel or outside surrounded by the wonderful structures and gardens. Your reception could be a stylish indoor event or a summery scenic picnic.

Discover The First Steps in Planning a wedding

Have you recently got engaged and haven't a clue where to start when it comes to planning your wedding? Well, you wouldn't be the first bride-to-be in this position! Here are the first steps in planning a wedding to ensure that you get off to a firm start.

Step 1: Understand what needs to be done

Get a wedding planner with a wedding planning checklist so that you have an understanding as to the different aspects of planning a wedding. When you know what needs to be done it all becomes a little less chaotic and more manageable.

Step 2: Have a discussion with your fiancé

Before you frantically start searching the internet for ideas or phoning wedding service providers, sit down with your fiancé and talk about the basics.

It will be useful to have your wedding planner at hand whilst you are talking so that you can cover the main areas and focus on what aspects of a wedding are important to you.

In your discussion, cover the following:

What are both of your expectations when it comes to weddings?

What are your religious beliefs and requirements?

What about your wedding style? Do you want a casual beach wedding and your fiancé was thinking of a traditional grand wedding?

What are your budgetary constraints? If your wedding budget is very limited, create a priority list. Determine the top 5 as well as the bottom five items when it comes to your budget.

When would you like to have the wedding? Are there any limitations when it comes to timing? You don't need to set a firm wedding date, but just have an idea so that you know how much time you have for planning.

Decide on who will be involved in the planning of your wedding and to what extent. You want to be able to tell your parents and others upfront what your wishes are when it comes to assistance.

How much time will you dedicate to planning your wedding?

Ask yourself: what is practical, appropriate and enjoyable for you.

Step 3: Investigate

Now that you have your desires, ideas and constraints you need to investigate what is feasible.

The first port of call is your parents. Run your ideas by them. Get their thoughts and see how they are willing to help.

If you are set on having the ceremony at a particular church or held by a specific minister, check now as to availability.

Then start considering wedding venues which suit your requirements. Scout out dates when they are available and costs. You may find that you need to adjust your wedding date as many venues are booked out over a year in advance. You may also find that you underestimated costs.

Start to gather some costs from other wedding service providers such as wedding photographers, florists, decorators etc. so that you can refine your budget and start to think about the number of wedding guests.

This is a stage where you are testing the water and learning about event co-ordination. Cut yourself some slack, give yourself time and enjoy the first steps in planning a wedding.

Wedding Invitations: What Do You Need?

There are usually a number of items that need to be included in wedding invitations that are sent out. Furthermore, there is wedding invitation etiquette that you probably want to follow as best you can. It can seem complicated, but if you take it step-by-step, your wedding invitations will reach your guests perfectly and timely.

The Wedding Invitation Card

Firstly there is the wedding invitation itself. Usually this only refers to the wedding ceremony and not the reception. However, if the reception is at the same venue as the ceremony, it is commonplace to add this onto the invitation wording.
All that is needed is simple: "reception to follow" on the bottom of the invitation.

It is against wedding invitations etiquette to include any information on gift registries or preferences on your invitations. Rather have these details distributed "by word of mouth".

The Reception Card

As mentioned above, usually the information for the reception is provided on a separate card. This includes the time and location of the reception.

If you want guests to adhere to a specific dress code, you can indicate it here.

The Reply Card

This is for your guest to complete and return indicating whether or not they will be attending your wedding.

On your card you must request a response, including an "on or before" date.
Then you have a line where they can write their name and their response i.e. yes or no.

Send Wedding invitations out 6 to 8 weeks before the wedding. Replies are typically required by 2 weeks before the wedding so that caterers can plan for the correct number of guests. There are often guests who don't reply and will need a follow-up call.

Reply cards can also include a selection of food choices so that guests can indicate their preferences.

The Reply Card Envelope

If your reply card is a post card, you must include your address as well as the correct postage on the card. If your reply card requires and envelope, include a self-addressed envelope with postage paid with your invitation.

Directions and Maps

Maps or directions are useful especially for guests that are travelling to attend your wedding. If these are included you can leave the street address off your invitation.

Ensure that they are printed well. They must compliment your elegant wedding invitations.

Pew Cards

These are only necessary if you want to assign specific pews to certain guests. These enable ushers to escort guests to their seating efficiently. The pew card will have a blank space with the necessary details completed by hand.

At-Home Cards

These are used to inform friends and family of your new address and/or contact details. You can also include when you will be returning from honeymoon.

Yes, there is a great deal involved in wedding stationery; however, once you know what is required and what goes where, you can start getting organised and start sending out wedding invitations with confidence.

A wedding inspiration board (also called a mood or vision board) is a collage that you create from a collection of pictures and even items that inspire you or resonate with you.

Wedding inspiration boards are a fantastic way to develop the look and feel of your wedding. During the process of creating the board and then enjoying the visuals later, you spark your creativity and develop ideas for your perfect wedding. It is fun and it is productive. You can show it to your service providers so that they truly understand what style of Wedding you want. It will also help you to not buy items that won't fit with your theme and will be a waste.

So, how do you create an inspiration board?

Basically you can simply start: find your pictures, arrange and stick. Perhaps this is your style. Otherwise, if you are at a loss, here are some tips that you can follow which may make it easier.

Colours

Often you create an inspiration board based on a colour scheme. If you are not sure what colours to choose, look at some pictures and see what you like, visit your local paint store and get some of their colour cards or use a website such as the following to find colour combinations that you like: Color Combos.

Each picture does not have to have all the colours. In fact, for variety, rather have some pictures which only pick up on one or two of the colours.

Picture Shapes and Sizes

Your pictures can be of any size. A good way to start is to have one large one (your favourite picture) and then make the rest smaller. Also ensure that they are a variety of shapes and sizes - squares, portrait, and landscape. When everything is the same size, you don't know where to look and are not led into the mood.

Image Detail

Choose a balance of detailed pictures and plainer pictures. If all of the pictures are too busy it becomes confusing and you will miss out on the overall feel when looking at the board.

Picture Choice

Choose pictures that truly speak to you. Don't simply choose a picture because it has the right colours or because there are parts of it that you like. You must enjoy every picture to its fullest otherwise you lose the power of the inspiration board.
However, remember there are no rules or limits when it comes to what you use and how you use it.

How to Include Your Pet in Your Wedding Even if He Can’t Be There

More and more couples are trying to figure out ways to include their beloved pets in the wedding ceremony. For some, the task is made easier because they are able to have the pet physically present at the wedding. Others, due to venue restrictions or behavior issues are unable to have the pet at the wedding, but would still like to include the pet somehow. Below are some ideas for including your four-legged family members in your big day, whether they can be there or not.

The Wedding Party

One way to include your pet in your wedding is to make them a member of the bridal party. Some couples dress their pet in a gown or tux and have them serve as an extra bridesmaid or groomsmen. Other options include having them act as ring bearer by tying a pillow to which the rings can be attached around the pet’s waist.
These are good ideas ONLY if you have a well-behaved pet that is able to follow instructions.

Greeter

Another way to include your pet is to have him act as a greeter. This is a good option for dogs that are fairly well-behaved but may not be able to follow directions, such as standing still at the altar or walking down the aisle.
Have someone with whom the pet is familiar sit with him and he can greet all of the guests as they approach or enter the venue.
Having the pet sit just outside to greet the guests is a perfect compromise for a venue that will not allow the pet inside the building.

Program

If your pet cannot be present, consider adding him in the program. You could have a section, for example, of special guests who could not attend. Another option is to include your pet in a section where you offer special thanks to those who have helped you over the years.

Video Montage

If you plan to include a video montage during your ceremony or reception, you can include the pet in this way. You could have an entire segment dedicated to your pet, or simply include photos or video of him throughout the montage.

The Cake

Consider paying homage to your pet by having a figure of him added to the wedding cake. This can be done in a number of ways. For example, you could have the baker create a small figure that can stand beside the bride and groom cake topper.
Another option is to have an entire cake created in the image of your pet. This is a good idea for use as the groom’s cake as those cakes tend to be quirky and a bit over the top.

Wedding Décor

Use pictures or reminders of your pet in your wedding décor and celebrations. Create a special centerpiece around a cute photo or include images of your pet in place cards, menus and programs. Even make your wedding style around paws.

Down the Aisle

Some brides wish their pet could walk them down the aisle. If this isn’t possible, consider carrying a photo of your pet in place of a bouquet. Choose a photo and place it in a lovely frame. Another option is to choose a smaller photo and incorporate the photo into your bouquet.

All of the above ideas will not be right for every bride. The point is to show that with thoughtful wedding planning there are ways to include your furry friends in your wedding, even if they cannot be present. Use one of the above ideas so that all of your family members can be included in your big day.

Can I order samples?

Yes.

Where items are sold as sets we are unfortunately not able to break up the set. Where there are minimum quantities on sales we can in some cases waiver this. For personalised items we often can't make samples as it requires an entire set-up of the artwork and equipment.

For the Bride shall take all reasonable steps to protect the personal information of users. For the Bride shall not share personal information with third parties unless required to do so by law.

Stocks, Availability and Timing

Items are subject to availability.
Stocks move very quickly and some items can take up to 16 weeks to become available again. Please order as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
Items will only be reserved on order confirmation from the customer. They will be reserved for a period of 24 hours. Thereafter, the stock is released for purchase by others. If paying after the 24 hour period the onus is on the customer to check stock availability. For the Bride will be under no obligation to obtain replacement stock after the 24 hour period. If replacement stock is purchased, the price may differ from the original quote. This is the price that stands. There may also be a rush order fee. If the customer pays the account after the 24 hour period without checking stock availability, the monies will be refunded minus an administration fee of R60.00.

There will be a surcharge of between R100 and R300 in the case of rushed orders - if it is possible to attempt to accommodate the required timing.
"Rushed orders" include orders on personalised items and handmade goods that are confirmed less than 3 weeks in advance as well as items where stocks are available but are required within a day or two.
We will do everything possible to ensure that rushed orders are delivered in time. The surcharge is for the overtime and stress that invariably results in the case of rushed orders. There are no guarantees on timing for rush orders and no refunds in the unlikely event of a deadline not being met.
Wedding favours and items should be ordered 3 to 4 months in advance. For the Bride endeavours to meet all deadlines but cannot be held responsible for orders that do not arrive in time.
Should the client overpay or pay before receiving an order confirmation and the stock is not available we will, in most instances, provide a refund. This refund will be minus our banking charges.
Should a client pay a deposit without prior discussion and then wish to revoke an order we shall, in most instances, refund the monies minus our banking charges. No items are reserved if only deposits are made. We require full payment to process orders and reserve stocks.

Costs and Pricing

Prices exclude delivery costs. Please see below for delivery fees.
There is an additional cost for cash deposits in order to cover banking fees.
In the case of sample purchases, there may be additional costs to cover banking and/or admin fees.
We aim to keep our prices to a minimum. On occasion we may need to charge an admin fee to cover stock withdrawal costs. This will be around R40.00
The prices on some items fluctuate with exchange rates; also some suppliers do not inform us of changes in prices of even local stocks, as a result, prices on quotes could vary from those displayed on the internet.
Some items are sold in sets but the prices on the website reflect the price per item. Please contact us if you are unsure as to whether the price is for an individual item or a set of items.
All quotes are valid for a period of 7 days unless otherwise stated. There is no guarantee of stock. Stock is only reserved when the client actually places the order and an order confirmation has been sent. Then the stock is reserved for a period of only 24 hours or until full payment is made - whichever comes first.
We strive to advertise our prices, availability and information accurately at all times, however these details change frequently and we cannot be held liable for any errors or omissions. Please check all details with us before purchasing.

Printing of Photos

We use high quality equipment, items and inks when printing; however, we do not provide professional photographic or graphic art services. The quality of a print will depend on the quality of the photo provided.

The best photos are those taken by a professional photographer. If you are uncertain as to whether your photo will produce a good result or the desired effect we will assist to the extent of our knowledge; however, we do not take responsibility for the aesthetic outcome of a printed photo.

Remember that photos and colours can look different on different computer screens or when printed. A first round test on your part is to print out the photo on ordinary paper and assess the outcome.

Colours

Colours can look different on different computer screens and when printed.

Also, colours can be subjective, for example, one person may consider a colour "olive green" while another labels it "Khaki".

If you have very specific colours, please provide us with the RGB or CMYK details (codes/numbers) and even the graphics files. Prints from a jpg file can look different.

We will try to create your desired colours but they may not be a "perfect" match.

Colours can also look different when printed on non-white paper or candles.

Please note that approval of graphics indicates approval of colours.

Personalised Items

We realise that it is often difficult to imagine items without seeing them however this is the risk run with any personalisation. Aesthetics are subjective and once graphics or details have been approved we do not offer refunds or reworkings on a subjective basis.

Purchasing

Orders are made via email. How to order.
We accept payment via EFT or cash deposits.
There is an additional cost for cash deposits in order to cover banking fees we incur.
There are minimum quantities on some items, please inquire if uncertain.
Returns, refunds and reworkings are at the discretion of For the Bride.
Items cannot be exchanged.
Orders cannot be changed once finalised,paid and in progress.
Acceptance and payment of the quote indicates approval of the order details. Please check all of the information on the quote correctly.
No orders will be processed until full payment is received.
We reserve the right to make any sale or do business with any person or organisation.
Acceptance of a quote or order confirmation as well as payment indicated acceptance of these terms and conditions.

For the Bride makes every reasonable effort to present accurate information on this Website. However, the content may contain typographical errors or inaccuracies and may not be current or complete. We reserve the right to correct any inaccuracies, errors or omissions and to update or change information at any time without prior notice to you (including after you have placed an order). Such errors, inaccuracies or omissions may relate to product description, pricing, availability or any information.

We apologise in advance for any inconvenience that may be caused.

Purchasing Disclaimer

Many of the items in the For the Bride store are imported, made to order or personalised. As such, although we can give an estimated time of arrival or completion of orders, we cannot absolutely guarantee this.

Strikes, hold-ups in customs, machinery breakdown, electricity outages and a host of other delays are unfortunately possible.

For the Bride does not provide refunds for items that are not obtained by the expected due date.

As such, please place orders early so as not to be disappointed.

According to good wedding planning practice, wedding favours and items should be ordered 3 to 4 months in advance.

Specials, promotions and discounts

Specials, promotions and discounts that are offered by email are valid for the time indicated on that email or a maximum of 7 days from the date of the email.

Specials, promotions and discounts that are offered on the website are only valid whilst they appear on the website. Once they have been removed from the website they no longer apply unless stated in a quote. Quotes are valid for a period of 7 days from the date of the quote.

Quotes do not guarantee stock availability.

Stock is only reserved once the order is confirmed by the client and an order confirmation has been sent. Stock is then reserved for a 24 hour period or until full payment - whichever is first.

Delivery and Collection

Items in the For the Bride store are delivered by courier (at an additional cost).

We do not offer postal services as we have found these to be unreliable.

The exception is the For the Bride Wedding Planner which can be posted.

Should you choose to have the For the Bride Wedding Planner posted to you For the Bride does not take any responsibility for items that go missing or are damaged.

Courier costs vary according to destination and order size.

Costs for average size orders are:

Johannesburg / Pretoria area: R90.00

Main city centres: R140.00

Regional areas: R190.00

We make every effort to deliver your order timeously however unforeseen issues may cause delays. We will always keep you informed of any changes.

All items are checked before leaving our premises.

The onus lies with the client to check items on delivery or collection before signing. Any complaints or concerns must be lodged prior to signature.

By signing for the delivered or collected items the client indicates acceptance of the items and conclusion of the transaction. Complaints cannot be lodged after signing for the items.

If someone other than the customer receives or collects the items it is the client's responsibility to ensure that that person checks items before signing.

We no longer courier Fortune Cookies. These must be collected by appointment.

Office Hours

Official office hours are from Monday to Friday; 08:30 to 16:00. Central African time.

Emails, calls, collections and orders will be handled during these times.

Injury, damages and warnings

For the Bride does not take responsibility for any injury or damages that may be caused by its products.

If any glass items break, they can cause cuts.

Please keep items away from children.

The perishable items are manufactured in a factory that uses nuts. They may also have ingredients that have been genetically modified.

Perishable items and candles must be kept cool and dry; out of the sun.

Items that are dropped could easily break. Be careful with all items as they are fragile.

Keep all items dry and out of the sun to prevent warping and other damage.

Do not leave candles burning without supervision.

Variation

For the Bride may, in its sole discretion, change these terms and conditions at any time without notice.

If our terms and conditions or any modifications we may post are unacceptable to you, your only recourse is to terminate your use of this site immediately.
