This year we made valentines day cards for everyone…I actually got this idea off of something on Pinterest, but it was so cute I had to do it!

Hope you all have a wonderful day filled with lots of love!  We will be enjoying heart shaped pizza and a Coldstone  ice cream cake with Red velvet and Ganache…Yummy!

A few years back, I had gotten a white Christmas tree for my girls bedroom to decorate for Christmas…

Again I have a hard time putting decorations away when it time, so I just came up with a way to spice up a Christmas tree for valentines. 

I purchased some pink heart lights ( the cheap section at Target-Score!)

I had gotten some wood hearts and a wood LOVE cutout, painted them and then covered them in glitter!

We all LOVE it, and it adds another two months to a festive holiday!

I know it is not thanksgiving, but believe it or not we still have up our thankful tree from thanksgiving.  I figure “Why not leave it up and see of all the things that you were thankful for throughout the year”  We will be doing this next year, however our tree will be much fuller “ I promise!”

For 2 seasons, I have grown paper whites in my house and let me tell you that they are one of my favorite things to grow!  Having flowers in the house during the cold months is really NICE. 

If you are wanting to grow paper whites, they are actually REALLY easy and super fun to watch!

You will need to buy paper white bulbs in December or soon after from your local garden store.

You will need to get a clear bowl filled with small rocks. (You don’t need clear, however it is so fun watching the root systems get bigger!)

Bury the bulbs into the rocks just a bit and then fill the bowl with enough water to just barely touch the bottom of the bulb. (TOO much water and the bulbs will Rot)

Watch them grow FAST and they need plenty of sunlight!

When they are finished, cut off the green and place them in a box in a dark spot ( like a closet)  they will go dormant till next year!

I have to admit that sometimes I am more like a kid when it comes to projects than my own kids.  This is an example of it…

At Christmas time, my girls where so ecstatic about the little nativity scene that sat on our entry way table  during Christmas.  When it was time to put it away, I felt a little sad…so I came up with the next best thing “ A Valentines Mouse House”

They love it, and play with it daily.  The hardest thing will be parting with it come February 14th.

So what did I do:

I bought an unfinished house from Michaels crafts (On sale I might add!)

Painted it! 

Put Sticky cork on the floor and made little curtains.

I made little flower pots for outside the window and then purchased some Calico Critters. ( I did find cheaper critters at Target later, which I am still kicking myself as to why I did not get those instead!)

So I can’t tell you how excited I am to finally get this in the mail! ( I get excited anytime something comes in the mail) but I was super Giddy about this one! 

What is it you might add…It’s a Family yearbook that I made at Photobin.  A few weeks ago they had this super good deal on living social and I jumped at it!

Before you make one though do realize these are not the quickest things to make…mine took about a week to make and it’s only twenty pages. 

I take thousands of pictures a year and thanks to my amazing husband, they are organized perfectly but I just wanted a PRINTED version that I could see at any moment…Don’t you ever look at your high school yearbooks?

So I have to admit that I actually got this idea from one of my favorite bloggers Dear Lizzy.  She is so creative ( even more creative than I) but I took her idea and changed it up a bit…my girls are in LOVE and cannot wait to open a new heart each day!

So what did I do?

Cut out hearts from brown paper bags…

Glued them together leaving a space at the top to fill with candy…

Painted numbers on them…

SORRY ABOUT THE HORRIBLE PHOTOGRAPHY ( It was early and the sun was rising through the window!)

Fill with candy and then sew the edge of the heart with red thread…

Hang them up using some type of string and cloths pins…

SO this was the result of my Pinterest Challenge Project…

It has been bugging me all day, and I just could not stand to leave it like this, so it got me thinking…I had some comments about using twine and that is exactly what I did.

I covered the vase in a polypropylene twine…

I am 100% happy with it, now onto the other one…

Mine look similar RIGHT?

So I Pinned these two amazing looking candle holders and decided I would try them out for the Pinterest Challenge…

What I did not anticipate, was how hard it may actually be!

So here is how it went down…

I got two glass vases ( really cheap ones at Wal-Mart…not a total loss!)

Rubber Bands

Spray Paint

Votive Candles ( Not Pictured)

I covered each vase in an array of different rubber bands…

I sprayed each vase with two coats of spray paint…

What made this a TOTAL disaster?

Paint leaked under the rubber bands

Paint did not dry under the rubber bands

Paint Peeled from the glass

I eventually used a scissors to remove the rubber bands, because it was a MESS!

Would I try this again?

Probably not…

Do I feel bad I did it?

No…how do you ever know if you never try it.  I loved the look of them a lot and I always had plans to re-create them!

When it comes to design, I am probably the most particular person out there.  A few months back, I painted my girls bedroom mirror to match the pink in their new bed spreads  you can see it here.

The pink I chose, did not match the bedding as close as I would like, so I re-painted the mirror again!  This time I brought the bedding with me to the store and matched it.
