SO anyways  on Friday, I talked about previous Easter baskets I had out together, and so I thought today would be a good day to talk about the Easter baskets I put together yesterday!

So here they are:

I stuck with the whole pink and purple theme again kind of…although instead of doing one pink ribbon and one purple ribbon on each bucket, I found some cute initial egg cards.

I did not make these, but they would be super easy to copy, and something you could use year after year.

My girls colored some eggs too…I had to show them off!

Pretty good for a 2 and 4 year old I must say!

Easter is an interesting holiday, because some view it as strictly a religious holiday in which you really don’t do much for the kids and others see it as another Christmas…Easter Bunny and all. ( Like the movie HOP if you saw that!)

I personally see it as both.  I do the religious activity, because I feel that Easter really is about the celebration of our savior and I also was raised in a VERY religious family.  I want to have my family raised with those core teachings also.

I also spent my life celebrating the Easter bunny as did I Santa Claus.  I want my girls to have the belief and passion that I have whether they feel the Easter Bunny is real or not.  It is important to have an imagination!

So what  do Easter baskets look like at my house?

These were actually last years…

Purple is my youngest daughter’s color.  She has a purple pale and purple ribbon on EVERYTHING.

Pink is my oldest daughter’s color.  She has a  pink pale and pink ribbon on EVERYTHING…

Last year I got the girls DVD’s… Pinocchio and Tangled.  I also got them each a PEZ dispenser. 

Beatrice ( my youngest, got a Raggedy Ann doll)

Mabel ( my oldest, got some fabric dolls I had made…I will talk about this another day!)

What are they getting this year?

This year we are doing the same pales and same ribbons, but the baskets will be filled with a little more candy ( not much more!)

Each girl will be getting  plastic Adirondack chairs, one pink and one purple.  We also got them each a toy that we thought they would love,

Beatrice:  A toy camp lantern for camping

Mabel: A bubble machine.

Anyways, I hope you all have a splendid Easter holiday no matter what you do!

I wanted to have my girls look good this year, so this is what I came up with…

Dress:  From H & M in Portland ( I purchased it in November for Ten dollars!)

Shoes:  Target Online: $9.89 on clearance

Hat: Target dollar section: $1.00

Silk flower: Wal-mart: $1.50 for a bunch

I hot glued the flower on the hat…I also got the girls some cream tights to match the ensamble!

We have Hyacinths and Daffodils blooming like crazy, although I keep reminding myself with a few more freezes we are bound to loose them all!

So…I go around and cut a bunch so that I can enjoy them up close and personal.

I also am a sucker for the Easter Lily.  Every year I have to buy one…simply for their beauty and their aroma!

You would be amazed what a few fresh flowers will do to your house…especially when you feel like spring will never arrive!

So this is what I did:

I made a lamp for the living room out of wood pieces I found at a craft store.  The Shade is made from a small wooden flower pot, the stand is a wood dowel and the base is a small wooden wheel.  I glued them together and painted them to match the rest of the décor.

The second project was to use an already existing chandelier, but to hang it from the ceiling using a small chain.  The chain was purchased from the jewelry dept. of a craft store!

Here is a better view of the chandelier…oh and you can see the gorgeous bed that my mother and father-in-law made.

So this weekend, I saw something on Pinterest and I HAD to do…

No it wasn’t painting, but I do need to pick up a paint brush at some point…

It’s kind of hard to see, but what it it, is a shoe holder used on the back of a pantry door to hold gadgets…

and here is what I did…

we had a big heaping pile of craft and office junko in a plastic box on our counter…I could not find a good solution until this…

Now everything is super neat and orderly…and my girls love it too!

Even though, we could be moving at anytime I thought it would be fun to still go ahead with some of my gardening.  About one week ago, I planted corn and within a few days they were already set to be moved to bigger containers!

What do you need to grow plants indoors?

Water and Light…

Real light or artificial light.

My daughters class has been successful with planting bean seeds in cups next to the window.

Otherwise you could go the route of planting the seeds in dirt pods purchased from a home improvement store and then put under a grow light.

Both work…

My girls did the normal “ Let’s put make-up on everyone thing” but then they decided it was not exciting enough, so let’s just say their creative mom started lining up paper drawn customers…it was a hit!

Honestly all I did was draw a bunch of goofy characters on white computer paper and then my one daughter had the time of her life playing make-up artist!
