I was browsing around the internet today searching for some easy DIY projects to do for Spring.  

I found these adorable terra cotta coasters that would be perfect for my patio! So easy to make too!  Just go to Home Depot, Target, Lowes, your favorite garden store or Michael’s, and buy the small terra cotta saucers.  

Spray paint them white, add your favorite Spring-patterned scrapbook paper and some Mod-Podge and BOOM!  You’re done and now you have some adorable coasters to use either inside or out!

I love decorating  for Easter and I’ve been searching for ideas on how to keep the beautiful colors of Spring in my home after the holiday is over.

I found these pretty pieces at Macy’s last year and fell in love with the little salt and pepper shaker!  Of course I then had to buy the whole set! I leave the dishes displayed on my hutch, in the dining room, and they are one of the first things people see when they come through the front door!

When you think about it, a beautiful table setting is really just an expression of caring and love for those who gather with us.  Dining together not only offers substance for the tummy, but for the soul, as well.

I love creating a pretty table and playing with dishes and hope to try and recreate some of this amazing tablescapes this Spring!

When it comes time to sell your home, you may or may not want to spend the money to renovate.   Bathrooms present a DIY project opportunity for a homeowner that wants to increase the value of their home without spending much money.  There are several ways you can update your bathroom without spending a fortune!

Replace the toilet

Replacing a toilet is not an expensive. Prices fall typically under $400.00 and a new toilet can instantly add a fresh look.

Replace the bathroom countertop

From laminates to single-slab surfaces that include marble, granite and quartz, or other materials like concrete or wood, replacing a countertop is a great bathroom DIY project.

Looking for a super affordable option? Especially when it comes to laminated surfaces, countertops can also be transformed with a couple of coats of paint!

Replace bathroom tile

Believe it or not tiling does not require a high level of skill—these days most tiles come on a mesh background which makes the installation easy and all you have to do is create an easy mix grout and apply!  Tile can be used on both the walls, shower enclosures and countertops.

Add Bead board or wainscoting

When it comes to traditional or country style residences, bead board is extremely popular. While this is typically done using individual planks of wood, one can also create from readymade bead board sheets typically sold in big box stores, all you need is a staple gun and you are ready to go!

Replace Cabinet doors or paint them

Not ready to splurge on new cabinets?  If your cabinets are made out of wood, refinishing them may be a great project for you to take on! All you have to do is sand down the doors, paint them with a primer and add a fresh coat of paint!   If you can afford to replace your cabinets, be sure to shop around for the very best price!

Replace fixtures or towel bars

You’d be surprised how shiny and fresh a bathroom can look with a shiny new faucet or spruced up towel bars.  These items are not only fairly inexpensive, but replacing them is an easy DIY project!

Replace Doors and door handles

Replacing doors and door handles is one of my most affordable tips, not just for the bathroom, but for the whole house!

I’m a big fan of pillows! I use lots of them, everywhere I can!  I love mixing different sizes, shapes and textures to make my sofas look both attractive and cozy.  Here are some of my tips!

1. Mix and match your fabrics – Never use the same pillow fabric as your sofa upholstery.  Try to limit patterned fabrics to one set of pillows per sofa. Layer colors, vary prints with solids, and mix textures for the most interest.
    
2. Start from the outside and work towards the center – Select a matching set of pillows that are either 24″ or 22″ inches square to place on the far right and far left of your sofa. Work your way towards the center with a set of slightly smaller square pillows.
    
3. Throw in a different shape – To keep the look from feeling to symmetrical, I usually include a smaller, rectangular pillow made from a third fabric that’s different but coordinates nicely.
    
4. Fluff them up and fill them right – Down fillers are always preferable to polyester inserts. They are more comfortable and better looking. If allergies are a problem, try high-quality hpoallergenic down.

Don’t be afraid to mix and match! Try something new!
