So, How Does All This Info Actually Help You?

A fair question that deserves an honest answer. Depending upon your situation, how new or old your vehicles are, how you drive them and how long you want to keep them, the answer to that question may vary quite a bit. However, one thing is certain. In virtually ALL cases, significant money can be saved, over the life of just about ANY vehicle, by simply having a good working knowledge of lubricants and filters and putting that knowledge to good use for your vehicles.

And, to prove to you that knowing about lubes and filters is incredibly valuable to virtually anyone, I’d like to point out a few things about the TRUE and COMPLETE expenses of owning a vehicle and just how much of that money can be saved by properly lubricating that vehicle.

$8,042 Per Year in Vehicle Expenses?!

SERIOUSLY! You may find this hard to believe – I did too until I started crunching some numbers – but there are a large number of motorists that are easily spending this much per year on each vehicle they own, and they don’t even know it. Of course, not everyone is forking over this kind of cash, but let me run some numbers by you, and YOU can decide whether you are one of these individuals.

Are You One of Them?

An average new vehicle costs about $25,000 to purchase new. However, many motorists these days will finance the vehicle for a full 5 years (60 months) to keep their payments down. At current auto loan interest rates, that could actually mean a total FINANCED value of $32,000.

If the individual purchasing that vehicle drives the typical average 15,000 miles year and gets 25 mpg (probably high for many people), at today’s fuel prices (around $2.50 per gallon here in the US), that will run an extra $1500 per year for fuel.

Figure in 3,000 mile petroleum oil changes at about $25 each, and you’ve got another $125 per year for oil and filters. (plus the time to DO the oil changes or wait for them to be done).

The average vehicle protected with conventional lubes and filters will last about 150,000 miles, which, at 15,000 miles per year, is about 10 years of service. Thus, total expenditures over the course of that 10 years are: $32,000 (for vehicle purchase) + $15,000 (for 10 years of fuel at $1500 per year) + $1250 (for 10 years of oil changes at $125 per year) = $48,250!.

So, if it costs a total of $48,250 (not even accounting for maintenance and repair items outside of oil/filter changes) over 10 years, that’s a total of $4,825 per year, just to drive a vehicle.

And, if that person happens to have a longer commute to work and puts 25,000 miles per year on their vehicle, their annual costs could rise considerably as they would hit the 150,000 mile mark in only six years. Thus, that $48,250 expense is only spread over six years, amounting to an annual expense of as much as $8,042 per year (nearly double)!

Driving a more expensive luxury vehicle? Your costs could easily be even higher, considering the more pricey initial pricetag AND, typically, more expensive repair work. Drive alot for work (maybe you’re a realtor or the like), you’ll go through cars like water, raising annual expenses even further.

It only makes sense that people want to slash these costs as far as possible and proper vehicle maintenance – especially lubrication and filtration can go a LONG way toward making that happen.

Barrichello become the quickest

Jerez – Despite the bad weather again at the Jerez circuit, but Rubens Barrichello is able to bring Williams to finish first at the 2010 Formula 1 trial.

Mercedes reliability makes Schumi Satisfied

Jerez – legendary racers back out in the F1 arena Michael Schumacher impressed with the performance of the Mercedes Grand Prix car in the second official test session at Jerez yesterday. Schumi claims satisfied with the reliability (durability) MGP W01 package that will be the flagship in the 2010 season.

Took over the second session of his team mate Nico Rosberg who performed the fastest in the first session, Schumacher had failed to follow the path that teammate. Seven-time world champion was only able to emerge as the sixth fastest driver with a record time of 1 minute 21,083 seconds, or minus 1113 seconds from the Rosberg time on the first day.

However, it didn’t make Schumi turned to be disappointed with the performance of the car. The problem, veteran German racer was more focused to test the endurance (reliability) of the that he thought is very extraordinary. In the session, Schumacher known devouring 124 laps.

“I am very pleased with what we get on today’s session, despite the red flags to make us can do to continue the session according to schedule,” said Schumacher was quoted by Autotrader, Friday (12/2/2010).

“In these sessions, I tried to devour as many laps as possible, where it will be very useful for me. So, my main goal now is to see how far the reliability of this car, “he added.

Schumi wants to switch his car number

BRACKLEY – F1 Legend Michael Schumacher claimed does not feel comfortable with his cars number that he got at Mercedes GP. For that, the drivers that will be back in the international debut of Formula 1 officials asked to exchange numbers with the number of his teammate Nico Rosberg.

As is known, Rosberg that recruited by Mercedes long before Schumacher’s decided to comeback got rations using the number three in his car. While Schumacher who joined after got the number four on the car that will be its flagship in the 2010 season.

However, Schumacher was not satisfied with this. The seven world championships winner was also asked principal team Ross Brawn gave the numbers 3 that in fact is used by him while makes s career in the world of F1. To exchange the car number, the Mercedes was stronghold obliged to report to the FIA. Well, in this case the FIA seems to not mind. With one conditions, both parties agree.

“Ross (Brawn) know, I certainly prefer to use number (3) my old number,” explained Schumacher to Bild as quoted by Motorsports, Wednesday (20/1/2010).

Throughout its history in the international Formula One, the 41 years old drivers is usual to use car numbers (1, 3, 4, and 5). Using the number one, Schumacher successfully collected five titles. Meanwhile, with the number three and five, Ralf Schumacher’s brother managed to taste one title each.

Well, just the harsh reality experienced by Schumi when using a car numbered four. With these numbers, Schumacher failed to collect the title and only be able to win seven Grand Prix series.

Briatore Enjoy the Freedom

PARIS – The lifetime penalty imposed to Flavio Briatore revoked by FIA. Now, the former Renault boss could return to touch the Formula 1 career. However, Briatore refused. Why?

BRACKLEY – Michael Schumacher is back. Today, Mercedes GP officially announced that the Formula 1 racing legend will be escorting the team at the Formula 1 championship season 2010.

After more than a week of speculation without confirmation, Mercedes GP finally open sound. As reported by the official F1 website, formula1.com, Wednesday (23/12/2009), the team issued an official statement, the 41 years old drivers will be coupled with Nico Rosberg, escorted Mercedes Grand Prix along at 2010 season.

Even more surprising, the contract with the former Brawn GP not only for a season. Schumacher sensationally won contracts for three periods at once. Wow …

As quoted by Autosport, Schumacher comeback rumors protruding since the Mercedes-Benz took over ownership of Brawn GP, at the end of Formula 1 GP 2009 season. But before today, the news never got certainty the truth, because both parties chose to silence.

The enrollment of Schumi to Mercedes GP marked a reunion with his former technique director Ross Brawn, which now serves as the team boss. This means, he was ready to update the seven-times world champion record and 91 Grand Prix victories before deciding to hanging his helmet at 2006.

Schumacher Ready to Return to Formula 1

Fiorano – Michael Schumacher has expressed its readiness to racing again in Formula One (F1) to Ferrari. This news is clarified by the president of Prancing Horse team Luca di Montezemolo. Really?

Rumors about Schumacher will return to Formula 1 GP was a very intense. Reportedly, the newcomer team Mercedes GP to be the most interested teams to that F1’s legend.

Despite Schumacher’s site and Mercedes has not made an official statement about this gossip, but di Montezemolo gave a very surprising statement.

“I have not talked to him since in Abu Dhabi. However, I spoke to him last Wednesday, “said di Montezemolo about the Schumi and Mercedes situation cited by autosport, Saturday (19/12/2009).

“He contacted me and said that there is a very strong possibility to race for Mercedes. Although not 100 percent yet, but that’s what he said,” said the Italian man.

Previously reported, the Ferrari’s side has given the green light to Schumi to strengthen Mercedes GP. Di Montezemolo allows that drivers to strengthen the German Mercedes next season.
