According to court papers, Nathaniel Dickey cashed one of the first checks June 30 at Kroger, 218 E. Pettit Ave. A store clerk accepted the fake payroll check said to be from Bane and Associates, a staffing agency, and gave Dickey $468.72, court papers stated. Other checks were cashed in much the same way. From June to September, Dickey and the others cashed 29 checks for a total of $14,210, according to court papers. The checks, all between $450 and $500, were passed at several businesses in the city, including Kroger, Wal-Mart, Summit Market and Sav-A-Lot, court papers stated. The checks claimed [...]

In it, they call for Aqua Indiana to create a new master plan to address service challenges and safety concerns by October 1, 2013. Ackerman Scholarship is a one-time award. The scholarship is based on the applicant's character, commitment to the stewardship of animals, financial need, and scholastic achievement. Graduating high school seniors in Adams, Allen, DeKalb, Huntington, Kosciusko, LaGrange, Noble, Steuben, Wabash, Wells, and Whitley counties are eligible to apply. The scholarship was established in 1991 to honor Dr. Larry Ackerman, who was the Fort Wayne Children's Zoo's veterinarian for 25 years. Just before 3 a.m. Monday morning, police were called to Fosters Sports Pub, 4226 South Clinton Street, for a reported shooting. Officers found one person inside the bar suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. They were transported to a hospital in fair condition. A second victim was found inside a home in the 4100 block of Lafayette Street, a few hundred yards away from the bar. That victim was taken to the hospital in serious condition.
