• New Feature: Auto-tagged tweets!

  We’re happy to announce that we’ve implemented a handy new auto-tagging feature that is live now on TweetSaver!

  As a convenience for our users, we’ve auto-tagged all of your tweets that contain a hashtag. When you log in, you should see the following on the right side of your screen:

  

  As you can see, you can easily set the feature to remain on, or turn it off. There is also a convenient link to toggle the hashtags in the view. If you have a lot of hashtags (like me) this will allow you to quickly view only the tags you’ve created within the TweetSaver system.

  Well, that’s the feedback we’ve been getting from a lot of you! We may have been a bit high on our own supply in thinking it would be easy for potential customers to see the intrinsic value of our service.

  So, in the spirit of openness, the ever-present freemium model, and letting you get your feet wet, we’re happy to announce that a 7-day free trial option is now available when you sign up for TweetSaver.

  Hopefully, this will let you kick the tires enough to see that we’re offering something pretty cool and a service you would find useful.

  Important note! When signing up for a trial account, it is similar to our Tweetblast plan in that we will send out a tweet on your behalf. This tweet will say, “I’m backing up, searching, and tagging my tweets with http://tweetsaver.com, shouldn’t you?” If you prefer not to have this tweet sent out from your account, you will need to sign up for a paid subscription.

I haven’t posted much recently because I’ve been head down working on getting a new app out the door. I’m happy to announce that we (Squeejee) have launch TweetSaver.com!

TweetSaver is a service that allows Twitter users to back up, tag, search and share their tweets quickly and easily. Currently, search.twitter.com only allows people to search the most recent 6 days of tweet history. If a user goes to a twitter.com profile there are 3200 tweets accessible if you’re willing to manually page through all of them. If you want something easy to use or access to older tweets you’ve been out of luck until now.

TweetSaver will grab a user’s 3200 most recent tweets as well as all of their mentions, direct messages and favorites. We’ll then back up new tweets on a regular basis. Once we’ve synced a user’s account they can then search all the way back through their history and see results broken down by status updates, mentions, DMs and favorites. If a user tags tweets, they can also search and view tweets by tag.

If you come across an old tweet you want to share, we make it easy to send a tweet out to your tweetstream, Facebook, Tumblr or just about any other social sharing/bookmarking service.

It was also cool to see a number of the other SpringStage blogs make the list. According to the blog rank website,

blog Rank uses over 20 different factors to rank the blogs in any category. Some of the factors include:RSS membership, incoming links, Compete Alexa,and Technorati ranking, and social sites popularity.

Hopefully if you read this blog, you also have Alex Muse’s Texas Startup Blog and Ryan Robert’s The Startup Lawyer on your rss reader. They are both great resources for startup information coming from local folks.

If you’ve been thinking about seeking angel investment or just want to understand more about it, check out Mark’s post

That’s Jonathan Ive, Apple Inc Senior Vice President and Design Guru, quoted from a recent Business Week interview.

I love it.

Does your company have the guts for this? Would you have the cajones to waltz in to your VC pitch and them “we’re not trying to make money here, what we are trying to do is build something amazing.” Sure some of them may laugh you at of the room, but I suspect for many, this might earn you more of their time.

We should all take a lesson from Apple on this one. Even if you don’t believe them on this particular point of their company philosophy, having a sort of guiding principal like this can be super helpful. How clear are you about your goals?
