Ashley Kotzin, CEO of Forwardzone went to visit De Beers football club Over the weekend.

De Beers AFC is one of the oldest amateur football clubs in South Africa. Ashley went to watch the U11 and U13 training sessions to scout for new talent and he was very impressed with the basic level of ability.

Forwardzone is always looking to grow and develop grass root football as well as their contact base with numerous great clubs country wide.

Discovery KNVB Workshops Begin

The 3^rd round of the World Coaches Programme began on Monday the 13^th February at the Sandton Sports Club. This round will give over 1000 coaches in 5 different regions the opportunity to learn about the Dutch football coaching style.

Ad Derksen, Gerard Nijkamp and Ruud Krol will be the Dutch Coaches for this round and we are delighted to have them on board.

Forwardzone’s involvement in this programme highlights our support for football development and we continue to facilitate the ongoing and flourishing partnership between Discovery and KNVB.

2 Year Extension for Kamo

We are really proud of Kamohelo Mokotjo’s as his contract at his Dutch club Feyenoord has been extended for 2 years.

He has done extremely well this season and Feyenoord’s Technical Director, Martin Van Geel believes in his talent.

Kamo is thrilled about his extension as well as the fact that his club is doing so well as of late. Feyenoord’s last win has taken them up to 3^rd position on the log tie with Heerenveen at 40 points.

Kamo Shines

Kamohelo Mokotjo has made 13 appearances for Feyenoord this season and in the last 2 games Kamo played the full 90 minutes. In his last game against Ajax on the 29^th Of January, he showed his technical excellence and even assisted in the 4^th goal.

It was a vital 4-2 win for Feyenoord placing them in 6^th position with the same points as Heerenveen and Ajax.

Kamo continues to play extremely and his next step should be Bafana Bafana!

FZ Congratulates New PSL CEO

FZ Players Go To Wits

Forwardzone’s talented left midfielder, Daylon Appolis who has been at Supersport United Youth Academy since he was 12 is now going on a 6 month loan at Bidvest Wits.

The loan will allow Daylon much needed game time to help him develop. He is great asset and will most definitely make an impact on his new team!

The other FZ player moving to Wits is Masibusane Zongo. He almost went to Blackburn Rovers however Bidvest Wits offered him a loan with the option of buying.

FZ’s CEO, Ashley Kotzin is confident that Zongo will do well and prove everyone wrong!

Julian moves to Brondby IF

FZ managed player Julian De Freitas leaves today to join Brøndby IF for a 6 month apprentice contract. Julian has been part of the FZ Elite Program for the past 14 months and he has shown qualities that prove he is ready for professional football.

This period at Brøndby IF will allow Julian to adjust to the weather, language, playing style and other aspects which involve moving to another country.

When he arrives in Denmark he will travel with the team to a tournament in Hamburg thereafter he will begin training with the U19 squad.

1st Team Action for Julian

A few players from the Wits Academy side have been given the opportunity to train with the Wits first team. Julian De Freitas who is only 18 was one of the players selected. He travelled with the Forwardzone Elite team to Holland last year and everyone was thoroughly impressed with him. Since then Julian has been under Forwardzone and he’s future appears to be very bright.

With some of the Wits players going to the African Cup of Nations as well as moving to other teams some of the young players might get a chance to showcase their talents.

Last night Julian had the opportunity to do that. He played his debut match for the first team against Ajax at Sturrock Park. He played really well and some of the first team players commented that they were really impressed with his performance and that he had flair.

Copa Success

Forwardzone hosted The Copa Coca Cola Football Stars from the 17^th – 22^nd December 2011 and it turned out to be a definite success.

The programme comprised of a group of 36 pre-selected young boys from all over Africa between the ages of 14-17 who were involved in a high intensity football training camp. The training camp programme consisted of 3 training sessions and 4 friendlies.

The sessions were run by Kwanele Kopo and Ketano Tembo who are both from the SuperSport Academy.

On the 19^th December 2 friendlies were played: The 1st friendly was against Mlamla FC which the Coca Cola team beat 4-3. In the 2nd friendly the Coca Cola team beat the Wits Invitational team 6-0. Another 2 friendlies were played on the 20^th December: The 1st one was against the SuperSport Academy team who beat the Coca Cola Team 4-1. The Coca Cola team then beat Juice Ben FC 6-0 in the 2nd friendly.

Well done to the FZ Team and the Coca-Cola Football Stars!
