So here's some:<br /><br />In the fosm database there are:<br />1,279,111,049 nodes<br />115,976,923 ways<br />1,192,912 relations<br /><br />In human readable numbers that's nearly 1.3 billion nodes, 115 million ways and 1 million relations.<br /><br />By comparison to the OSM database, fosm has:<br />313,915 more nodes than OSM<br />32,650 more ways than OSM<br />1,017 more relations than OSM<br /><br />If you want to try to visualise this then a way typically represents a road, or a building, or a forest or park or something. So just imagine, for example, 32,000 buildings that are in fosm but not in OSM. That gives me a good way to think about how much more data fosm now has.<br /><br />But that's not all. Nodes perform two roles. Without tags they define paths for ways but with tags they act as points of interest (POIs). So how many of the 314,000 nodes are actually new POIs? As far as I can tell, about 7,500. So that's 7,500 shops, churches, traffic lights, mini-roundabouts, bars, restaurants, and so on that are not in OSM. If they are all bars, then that's one hell of a pub crawl.<br /><br />There are other statistics that I'd like to present but I'll save them for a later post. How many active fosm contributors are there? How productive is the average fosm contributor compared to the average OSM contributor?
