After nearly getting cut a little over a month ago he’s now the most talked about player in the NBA and for a variety of reasons. For starters is the first Asian American to ever play in the NBA, and secondly he’s done/is doing things that no player in the history of the game has ever done before. While all of this is well and good however, we must ask the question, can he stay healthy?

History tells us, maybe, but for fantasy owners (especially keepers) thats really not good enough. As fantasy owners we can’t just run to a Canada drug pharmacy and make Lin whole again should he befall an injury. With that in mind, my thinking is that avoiding injury is incredibly difficult to do in any sport, but given the fast paced nature of the NBA it seems as if its almost more difficult. One then has to assume, if Lin goes down will he ever return? Or will he get “Wally Pipped”.

I think that when you look at the depth that the Knicks have at the guard position its foolish to think that he’d be the sure fire starter should be go down with an injury. A guy like Baron Davis is probably a better point guard (ie. floor commander) than Lin, but he can’t quite score like him which is why he’s still on the bench for the time being. Furthermore, Carmelo Anthony has the propensity of handling the ball as well if the need were to ever arise.

While its best to prepare for the worst, we’re certainly not hoping that it comes to fruition. Heres to hoping that Lin stays healthy.

If Jeremy went down with an injury how do you think it would play out?

Let us know in the comments below!

I know its a little last second but hey better late than never right? For those of you wondering why we haven’t posted much on this site as of late, its because the Foti Sports crew is hard at work on its latest venture which can be seen by visiting DailyFantasySports.org. For those of you that may be unaware of what exactly daily fantasy sports are allow me to explain it to you.

For starters you pick a new team every week (for <a href="http://www.fotisports.com/category/football/"title="" >football) or every day if you’re playing <a href="http://www.fotisports.com/category/hockey/"title="" >hockey, <a href="http://www.fotisports.com/category/basketball/"title="Basketball Category" >basketball, <a href="http://www.fotisports.com/category/baseball/"title="Baseball Category" >baseball etc. To pick that team you’re giving a budget which for daily fantasy football is $60,000. Then you have to select a team of players, all of whom have differing salaries, to fit under the budget and then play that team against your opponents for cold hard cash (or for free if you’d like). The following video sums it up nicely.

Now that you’re familiar with the game and how it works I bet you’re eager to jump into the action right? Well you’ve come to the right place because this week the fine folks at FanDuel and Daily Joust have given me the ability to invite all of you to their free rolls!

What is a free roll?
In case you’ve never heard of one before, a free roll is a contest wherein the contestants can win actual cash by playing but don’t have to put up any of their own money to compete. Its a win win situation for both the sites and the players, and its a great way to help you ease into these types of contests without risking any of your own money.

Alright just give me the damn links!

Woah woah, easy there killer. The links are below.

$200 FanDuel Free Roll
$250 Daily Joust Free Roll

If you aren’t familiar with all of the players and salaries then DFS has plenty of articles to help you out while you go about making your first team.

We want you to succeed so if you have any questions, comments or concerns feel free to leave a comment below, or reach out on Twitter, or leave us a message on Facebook. We answer 100% of the queries that are sent our way.

Best of luck to you today!

P.S. When you sign up for the free rolls you will also receive an exclusive deposit bonus of up to 20%! That means you’ll get up to $20 for free when you make your first deposit. So what are you waiting for? Get signed up and start playing the most exciting form of fantasy football ever created!

You’ve struggled to deal with an off season filled with drama, lockouts, and a free agent bonanza leaving some including myself saying “When did they get him?” Tonight, although just a slight tease, marks the beginning of what is already shaping out to be an NFL season filled with excitement, controversy, storylines, dream teams, and of course more discussion on illegal hits and head injuries. I do not consider myself to be the world’s greatest football enthusiast, nor do I think of myself as a football guru, yet just your average ordinary played the game in high school fan. Just like most of you I do the whole fantasy football thing with a slight dabble every now and then in the sports betting arena. Over time however sports betting (only in Vegas of course) has not panned out exactly the way I’ve hoped it would. Ok let’s be honest here I may be one of the worst of all time and right now most of you are asking yourselves; “Why the hell would I want to keep reading?” In the words of Daniel Tosh, “Valid point”, however if you know who I’m picking each week, that may entice some of you who are involved in pick-em leagues, or for those of you who live in Vegas, to bet the opposite. Each week I plan to give you my predictions on at least 3 games, my lock of the week, and my bet-um straight up underdog. Without further ado … Week #1 here we go.

Game 1
Detroit vs. Tampa Bay (-2)
I know everyone wants to jump on the Matthew Stafford bandwagon, but can you tell me the last time the Lions did anything right? Too much hype in the pre-season for a below average team. I’m taking Tampa Bay at home -2.

Game 2
Tennessee vs. Jacksonville (-2)
Two words..Luke McCown. Tennessee takes the points and runs with them, I’ll take Tennessee +2.

Game 3
Oakland vs. Denver (-3)
No Tim Tebow ? No problem for the Denver Broncos as the cruise to a Week 1 win over NCAA division 1 Oakland Raiders. I’ll take Denver -3 at home.

Lock of the Week
N.Y. Giants vs. Washington (+3)
Could not ask for a better Week 1 game if you’re a Giants fan. Yes there on the road, but playing against a team that was considering Rex Grossman as QB1? Eli don’t get me wrong you’re no Tom Brady, but you can certainly cover 3 points on the road against the Skins.

Underdog
Buffalo vs. Kansas City (-6)
Quarterback problems in Kansas City right now, and I think the Bills get off to a 1-0 start on the road for the first time since Jim Kelly was at the helm.

Well there you have it; Week 1 is in the books. Check back daily for a recap on all my losses and make sure to leave your comments on my picks or hit me up on twitter @cORyANGE44.

And remember “Clear eyes, full hearts, can’t lose”

So obviously this is not an actual year in review type of a post, but at this point three of my teams have ended their seasons, with only one (Yankees) still left playing. I figured I would mull over what happened this past year, and where I hope we are going in the near future.

First off lets discuss the Buffalo Bills as they are my number one team, always have been, and always will be. Unfortunately their is not a ton to say about the Bills when you consider the fact that they went an abysmal 4-12 this season and although they landed Marcel Darius in this years draft, the lockout is killing them. For any young team not being able to get together with coaches, and learn the system can be detrimental. As far as next season goes my heart says we are going to compete for a wild card spot, assuming we can stay injury free and the lockout ends before training camp was originally supposed to start. My head however says that we are going to have another sub .500 season, so I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

Image via Wikipedia

Second on the list of favorite teams is the Buffalo Sabres, who made the playoffs this season, but were unable to muster enough strength to get past the first round. With this team however I feel far more confident in their ability to have a legitimate shot at a championship within the next 5 years or so. The reason? New ownership! Terry Pegula has taken over the team and hes made it clear that this is not a business venture for him. Rather he wants to help this team win a title which means money will be spent on players who can help us get there. No more buy low, sell high of talent (ie Danny Briere) like we were accustomed to with the old owner. I feel very confident in this team, and hope I am right in the coming years.

Third on the list is the New York Knicks, and I also have pretty strong feelings about this teams ability to compete for a title in the coming years. With Carmelo Anthony and Amare Stoudemire leading the charge, and a young Landry Fields looking to contribute who knows what this team is capable of. I do not think that we are ready yet, a few more years/trades need to happen, but be on the lookout to make some noise in the very near future.

Last but not least the New York Yankees, who are in the middle of a road trip (doubleheader today woohooo). Im not sure how I feel about the Yankees other than the fact that I think they are an older team, and only getting older. As we saw with Jeter, the Yankee faithful won’t let the stars go without a fight, so if they want to sell tickets they aren’t getting rid of most of these guys any time soon. What that means is yet to be seen, but I have my reservations about the whole thing. The pitching is the second big concern, and I think thats whats going to keep the Yanks from returning to a world series anytime soon, but I suppose only time will tell.

So there you have it, my super condensed year in review post. Be sure to comment below!

With the <a href="http://www.fotisports.com/category/football/"title="" >football regular season kicking off tomorrow, an avid fan such as myself cannot help but look ahead both to the playoffs and to the superbowl that awaits in just a few short weeks. As an avid Buffalo Bills fan, I was forced to stop cheering almost immediately as my team never really got out of the gate. AFC east rivals the Patriots however came out swinging and really never looked back. That being said I am thinking that the New England Patriots will meet up with the Green Bay Packers in this years superbowl. Aaron Rodgers really can fling em, and that defense is one to envy for sure.

I can’t wait to see how this season plays out – there’s such a wealth of great teams out there that it’s always hard to tell who’s going to rise to power quickly, who’ll be the dark horse team, and who’ll play so well that even the NFL Party Poker players will look up from their laptops and drop their popcorn! There’s never been a better time to have an eye on the football scene, and this season’s shaping up to be somewhat epic.

For more superbowl predictions provided by BetUS check them out today. In addition to picks and analysis they also allow you to wager on the games at their place.

Regardless of who you pick it should be a great set of playoff and championship games this year, ultimately culminating (in my opinion) with the Patriots (much to my dismay) hoisting the Lombardi trophy.

Missed your season long draft? Regardless of your reason, you can now play weekly fantasy sports for cash money at FanDuel. The concept here is rather simple and its something that I have grown to love over the past couple weeks. Essentially what your doing here is assembling a new fantasy <a href="http://www.fotisports.com/category/football/"title="" >football team to compete every Sunday. You are given a salary cap to assemble a team, which you can then enter into contests against 1, 4, or 9 other players on the web. The entry fees for the tournaments range from $5 up to $100 so their is certainly something for everyone to enjoy. Furthermore, FanDuel is also running a referral contest in which you will receive $10 for every player that you refer to their website! Assume you have a few sport fanatic friends on facebook you can easily earn yourself a few bucks just for referring a few people to the contest. To enter this contest and play weekly fantasy football, <a href="http://www.fotisports.com/category/baseball/"title="Baseball Category" >baseball, nhl, and nba contests simply click the banner at the top left of this blog post. Best of luck to you in the fantasy sports arena at FanDuel

After reading about Vince Young’s recent outburst at a strip club in Dallas early Sunday morning im sitting in my room a bit baffled by it all. At first I thought about what I wouldve done in that particular situation, and realized that I may have acted similarly but theirs a big difference between me and Vince Young. I wont belittle you and explain the differences between me and Mr. Young because I think they are rather self explanatory. Then I thought to myself, what would I have done if I were Vince Young, and had millions of dollars and got to play <a href="http://www.fotisports.com/category/football/"title="" >football for a few hours on a Sunday and get paid millions, and the two answers are very different.

According to the report on ESPN, young assaulted a man around 3:30 in the Am at a strip club. Now maybe im just a bit naive and give athletes to much credit, but as an NFL superstar what on earth are you doing at a strip club. I mean I realize you can blow money on girls at a strip club and not care, but whats the point? Lets not even mention guys like Pacman Jones or Ben Roethlisberger and what Young couldve learned from those two rejects, the fact of the matter is that your set for life and Id say that most girls would sleep with you for free. The solution then becomes, why dont we go to a club or a bar, ball it up and get laid for free? I suppose its tough for me to understand what really goes on with these guys because its not a position ill ever be put into but the solution to this ongoing problem seems pretty simple.

At the end of the day its hard to tell a young 20 something with a few million in the bank what to do, but for christs sake surround yourself with good people. At some point in your life you have to cut ties with those who are bringing you down and enabling you to make bad decisions. How much of a role model can you really be, when this is how you portray yourself? As for the players who say “I’m no ones role model” just remember that unless your a 3rd string long snapper, someone somewhere wears your jersey, and watches your clips on youtube, and ultimately look up to you. You might think that your affecting no one but yourself with your decisions but the fact of the matter is that you are out there for the world to see, and you need to make better choices.

Writing posts like this is always easier from the outside looking in, but I just know that if I had millions the last place I would go on a Sunday is a strip club.

How do you guys feel about these high profile athletes in the news? Guys like Arenas, Burress, Roethlisberger, Jones, and now Young?

The most recent development in the Lebron James free agent saga is the chatter about a possible new head coach in Tom Izzo joining the Cavs next season. I had planned on waiting to write about this issue until after July 1 had rolled around but I figure now might be a good time to share my opinion the topic of Lebron and his future in the NBA. You see I have been a Lebron James fan ever since I saw him play in high school against Carmelo Anthony on ESPN when James was a junior and melo a senior, so I have a soft side for the guy but I think he might be a bit of a liar.

You see Lebron has said all along that the decision he makes will be about winning championships in the NBA, but I think we all know that money talks and bullshit walks, right? Come July 1 2010 the Cleveland Cavaliers will be able to offer James a salary in excess of 120 million dollars, whereas the most any other team could offer James is right around the 100 million dollar mark. Now in my opinion theirs nothing more that you can do with 120 million as opposed to 100 million, but then again im not spending or making that kind of money so I can only assume. Would Lebron really be willing to walk away from an extra 30 million? The jury will be out for at least another month or so, but I think not and I will tell you why.

First off we all known that Lebron was born and raised in Ohio and thus his loyalty rests with the folks of that great state. Now unless he is a complete bullshitter he is sticking to his loyalty schpiel and I honestly have no reason not to believe him. Next, you look at whats happening behind the scenes in Cleveland and you really wonder how silent of a partner Lebron really is. I mean usually when the owner comes on camera and says “This player had nothing to do with this coaches firing” it usually filters through the BS meter as “Our star though this guy sucked and now hes gone”. I would find it believe that Mr. Gilbert (Cavs Owner) is doing all this on his own and is not being given any friendly advice by Lebron. In all honesty I do not think Lebron has any true interest in leaving the team, and as long as it is molded around him and what he wants he will justify it in order to keep all of his money.

As for Tom Izzo and his possible transfer to the Cavs I think that would be as much a shame as Pete Carrol going to the Seahawks. Those are two coaches that are, or in Carrols case were staples at their institutions for many years. The prime recruiting tool for young talent, and mentors to young men many of whom are now playing at the next level. I think he should stay put, but then again its hard to snub 30 million over 5 years.

NO matter what we are talking about in sports, whether it be Lebron, the NCAA, Pete Carrol or anyone else in between it all comes down to one thing M-O-N-E-Y.

Although I do not consider myself much of an NBA fan (more of an NCAA buff) I am looking forward to the game five tonight at 8PM est on ABC. The game itself is rather intriguing both for the fact that it is a tie 2-2 series, but also because the Celtic’s Kendrick Perkins and Rasheed Wallace are in serious foul trouble. Both players have accumulated six technical fouls thus far and per NBA rule, if you accumulate 7 you are suspended for the following game. Although I would expect these guys to tighten up a bit for these next couple games, you have to acknowledge their track record and realize that loosing them would be a possibility for the celtics.

That being said, I have a funny feeling that who ever wins tonight’s game 5 will also go on to win the series, and considering the location Im going to give an edge to the Celtics. I realize that we are talking about two very good teams here, but the Celtics big 3 have not managed to put up a solid game together. Surely Pierce has had his game, Allen his, and Garnett his, but when these three come together and have a breakout game together, Im not sure the Lakers will have an answer. Also, considering the fact that Bynum is having some serious knee trouble which could limit his playing time and give the Lakers trouble late if Odom or Gasol get into foul trouble.

Its hard to deny the fact however that Kobe Bryant plays for the Lakers and although im a skeptic many would call him the best of all time. I for one will save my comments on the Bryant, Jordan and James argument until after I see where Lebron is heading this upcoming season, but I digress. When looking at the game tonight and Boston at -2.5 I think you have to go with them if for no other reason than to make the game exciting. If your feeling really confident in the Celtics winning tonight, I think you have to get them as an underdog to win the title before tonights tip.

It will be an exciting game and I look forward to discussing it with you all after it concludes.

For those of you who may have been living under a rock for some time now, the Pac 10 is on the verge of becoming the Pac 16, the big 10 has 12 teams, the big 12 has 10 teams, and their is chaos every where in between. Once the dust settles it will be easier to see what exactly happened, but in the mean time I can only speculate as to the problems that will arise after its all said and done.

Let me start by saying that I am all for teams moving around conferences under the right circumstances. To me the right circumstance in this situation would only be if the reason for the switch was to incorporate Boise State, TCU and Utah into big time conferences. Though it seems that those schools are going to be staying put through all of this, so in reality whats the point? I mean I could understand if Nebraska got paid to leave, to make room for Utah, or something along those lines, but that did not happen, they are moving for the sake of movement. Thats my first gripe and im sure many would agree that this does nothing to fix whats wrong with <a href="http://www.fotisports.com/category/college-football/"title="" >college football, and in some ways makes it worse.

Now assuming someone could explain to me why Boise, TCU, and Utah are not coming into bcs conferences what about the Texas schools? Texas and Texas Tech want to move to the pac 10, and Texas A&M wants to pitch their tent in the SEC? I mean do these conference names mean nothing? South Eastern Conference, if you can show me on a map that Texas is considered a south east state then I suppose we can talk, but barring any major shake up in world geography I think im right. Whats next, the University of Southern California is going to travel to the Big East? Its absurd!

Now putting my capitalist hat on for a second, I understand at the core why this is happening, and anyone who understands money should as well. Texas A&M can bring in a lot more money if its playing its games against opponents people actually care about. Aggies vs. the Gators is going to draw a lot more fans than Aggies vs. Wildcats. Considering that its just a capitalist ploy for more profits, it still makes me sick that a guy (or girl) student athlete can lose a year of eligibility if someone wants to buy them a free happy meal. A&M will make more money off its athletes than ever before, and most of them will still struggle for four years trying to feed themselves after the dining halls close.

There is certainly a lot to be debated here, so lets get those comments rolling and see whats what.
