Vintage-ish

The other day I decided to do something a little different. Wear a skirt and wedges to class. It felt nice to actually get dressed (more than a tee-shirt and jeans) just for school. Not that I do it for the compliments but it was nice receiving them ;-)

I am in love with this skirt! And the Faux pearl necklace top added a little pizazz to the outfit, which is what I really liked =)

I'm not the type to wear short skirts so the length of this one was perfect for me, and the fact that it is a solid color was even better. I don't have any other SOLID color skirts other than black in my closet so this is definitely a new beginning.

You know what's a real shame..I'm so lame! I'm always afraid to show my real style when I'm going out casually (i.e. school, the mall, out to eat lunch, ect.) I want to take risks. I'm the one who, when I just can't figure it out or spend too long trying to put an outfit together, ends up wearing black. I love black but it's time for me to move on.

Okay ladies would anyone like to join me in stepping out of their comfort zone - be it with fashion, food, music, or whatever! :) To be honest with you reading Karla's Closet has had the biggest impact on this decision. I've been a follower of hers for a while now and although I have my own style I would like to jump out there and have a little more color in my life loL..I mean, my favorite color is GreeN and I can only count 5 items in my closet that are green loL...I start tmrw...

My Weekly goal (I'll start small): at least one item of clothing has to be a color which isn't black or white & I will choose one new color every day. Pink, Green, Yellow, Gray, Orange, Blue, Brown, Purple or whatever else I can find in my closet loL...

Who is your Biggest Influence/Inspiration?

As I read Queen of Hearts blog this morning, I read her latest post talking about her biggest influence and inspiration, - "My mother will always hold the title of style icon as she continues to be my biggest supporter, influence and drive." - I thought, how sweet is that =)...kept reading and noticed she is asking for her readers to submit their biggest influence or inspiration. What is that ONE thing or who is that ONE person who inspires you most? I thought about who mine would be for a second and then realized, there is no ONE person for me.

"Who is your greatest influence?" I used to say all the time, with no hesitation, my mom! And although that holds true, as I've grown I've come to know and learn so many things along with meeting so many people. I am inspired by many things now. I take a little bit of something from many things:

From my mother, it happens to be her strength and confidence. She is a strong willed person. When she wants something she sets her goals and achieves them! When you really think about it, a lot of people can't say that. They set a goal, but don't take the necessary steps to accomplish them.

My dad, his work ethic. He is a strong and hard working man. He is dependable and always willing to lend a helping hand.

My little brother, his motivation to learn. I swear this boy has different phases in his life when he'll be "obsessively" interested in something for a while then onto the next "obsessively" interesting thing loL. When he is into something, he is REALLY into it and learns all there is to know about it. For example at one point he was interested in Presidents, then it was Skyscrapers, then LA, then Ships (Titanic), Maps (he is my personal GPS now loL he can get you anywhere you need to go), Michale Jackson, etc. He so unbelievably smart and motivates me to learn as well.

When it comes to fashion and photography I am inspired by so many things! I am often inspired by the bloggers I have listed as my favorites. I am also inspired by architecture, colors, different cultures, mood, and the season!

I want to submit my influence/inspiration. She asked for the Biggest, which in my eyes means ONE and as you can see I don't have just one. She also asked for a picture - mine would be a collage loL. I think I'm going to send one to her anyway just to see how she'll respond, if she responds.

So since we're on the subject, who is YOUR Biggest (or many loL) influence/inspiration? I'd love to hear what you have to say!

Fashion "Foto"Graphy

I have another shoot coming up soon and I'm really excited for it. I was trying to think of where I could shoot it..I'm sitting here in the library at my school and I've been inspired! loL..I'd love to shoot it here in our library, I have a few ideas as to what I would do and how I would pose the model.

I guess I need to find out who I need to talk to in order to get permission to shoot 1st on school campus and 2nd in the library where people are studying. Maybe we can switch the shoot to Friday, there aren't many students on campus that day. Oooh I hope we can do it here, that would be fun! But in case we don't I need more ideas..?

I would love to shoot somewhere out of the ordinary, I guess I'm looking more toward an editorial shoot. I want to tell a story with this one. =0....anyway, I'm just casting my thoughts online loL not really looking for feedback, unless, of course you have any suggestions loL.

I flew out to NYC today. What an adventure we had today! loL I had a lot of fun though. I'm sitting in my hotel room now. Walk...walk...walk!!! My feet hurt so bad - and I thought I was gonna be cute walking around all stylish in my BCBG platforms! Yea right! I eventually put my flip flops on - New York weather is so nice compared to Florida. When we landed it was 71 degrees (F) I think. It was nice and breezy.

I went to the Newly opened Forever 21 in Times Square..the largest one in the U.S. 100,000 square feet. 4 floors! We weren't really allowed to take pics but I did manage to take these "fotos" Of course I bought a few things but don't be too fooled, its still Forever 21 and has all the same items every other Forever 21 has, just a lot more of it...

I'll be sure to post more throughout my stay here. I hope you all will have a fun and safe weekend

How I've missed thee

How I've missed thee! I'm taking a calculus class and lets just say it's keeping me very busy :-/
Along that class I've also started mentoring a group of high school students who are so crazy and funny! They brighten my day loL (right before my dreadful calc class) anyway I'm excited about this summer...I'll be leaving for NYC on Friday! And I can't wait to share pics with you all..I now have 4 different lenses for my camera so I'll be practicing shooting all sorts of things - not just in New York, but in general...July 24th I will be graduating with my AA as a pre-engineering student and the very next day I'll be flying out to Ashville, NC for a little over a week...Then my best friend (from Jersey) is planning on coming down for about a week to hang out so we'll probably be riding down to Miami for a few days!

I haven't had a lot of time to take pictures of my OOTD (outfit of the day) but hopefully I can show you what I plan to wear in "the city"
Ahh man! I've been looking at different bloggers sites and I am in love with "Fashion Bananas" blog along with others that I'll post later.

Shoe Haul

=) Hello divas, I hope you all are having a wonderful week so far. More importantly the weekend is coming up! This past weekend was my birthday and I happened to be going down to Miami! It was wonderful, the weather was beautiful and my hotel was amazing, I even met Andre 3000 from Outcast, he was staying at the same hotel.

Well while I was down there I did some shopping of course, unfortunately I didn't make it to any of the malls (Aventura or Sawgrass) which is why I have to go back loL - along with seeing my friends of course loL. Like I was saying I did some shopping and really I only bought shoes...so as requested I'm doing a shoe haul =) hope u enjoy...

I actually got these at Forever21 a few weeks ago. I wanted some black casual party booties and like I said in an earlier post, tie-ups are in this season. I think these are pretty cute huh?

With all the heels I own, I realized I had NO black pumps. Most, if not every, woman should own a pair of black pumps. They are your go-to for most occasions. {Work place - professional} I bought these in a shop down in Miami

Aren't these FIERCE?! 5" but I love the straps. I'm not used to walking in 5", 4" yes, 5" not quite loL.

I love these sandals, not only do they complement the foot a lot better than I thought they would but they are extremely comfortable I might say. I found these in Mia as well...I also read a blog recently that featured these sandals recommending - to complement the suede cream color of the shoe your toes should be painted a nice deep color (my fav is plum purple)

So what shoes are you craving this season?? I'd love to see the shoes you like! And what are your favorite colors?? My closet is filled with black and different shades of brown (as also seen here loL) I gotta get out of that habit loL

Taking It To The Streets - Bathing Suits

So I'm headed down to Miami this weekend =D (it's my birthday on Saturday) I can't wait, but just like me, I waited til the last minute to buy a bathing suit. It's been about 2 years since my last new suit (I love to swim and I live in FL for goodness sake wth is wrong with me?!?) I'm a bit conscious of wearing a bikini in public though, so I've never owned one. This year I feel a change coming on...this season has me in a bright, cheerful, and adventurous mood so ON with the bikinis loL..I'm kidding. I'll prob get one and buy a cover up or something loL.
What's your favorite style of bathing suit? Bikinis, Monokinis, Regular one piece, Tankini??? Let me know and we can hash it out lol =)

ANYWAY, enough with the rambling and on to the goods. I like to look good for less, upon looking for this season's hottest styled bathing suits I came across these:

Retro, Black, White, and Tribal colors/prints are definitely in this season. I think I'll check out Forever21 loL

Whats this I hear, track pants are chic this season? Yepp, that's right designers like Alexander Wang, Rag & Bone and L.A.M.B sported this look on the runway this season. Pair your sweatpants with eccentric, sexy, and/or embellished pieces. Blazers, Big shoulders, button downs, embellished tops and ladies don't forget HIGH HEELS! *No flats with this look* Don't forget bright colors for the spring season as well.

With over 250 multi-use minerals to choose from you can't help but want to buy at least 5 in every color! However, I only ordered 6 seeing as this was my first time using BFTE cosmetics, I saw a few reviews on youtube so I thought I would give them a try =)....I know they are "multi-use" but I am using them as eye shadows only...I tested:
"Wicked" - a very light purple with green duotone
"Isis" - a bloody red with slight shimmer and red-bronze undertones.

"Dangerous" - this blue is very dark! With Blue shimmer to it, this will definitely make a bold statement.

"Chocolate" - I love this color! Its a golden brown with a copper shimmer
"Tropical" - this green has more of a blue undertone than I thought, it has a little bit of shimmer. Over all this is my least favorite shadow, I thought I was getting a green, instead this turns out blue on my skin =(
"Shopaholic" - this yellow is the perfect shade in my opinion. It isn't too bright to make u feel like a clown and not too dark not to tell that it is yellow, I would def. suggest getting this color.

All shades are highly pigmented (PLUS!) and can be applied both wet and dry! For best results wet, use BFTE cosmetic's "mix and fix mixing medium" it is fantastic!
