The Bible tells us that the measure by which we judge others will be measured back to us. (Matthew 7:1-2) In this session, Andrew Selley highlights that we are becoming increasingly bold and arrogant these days and that, even as believers, we can be just as harsh as the world when it comes to judging others. Social media has allowed for one-sided judgment in the name of justice; however, this sense of justice is actually lawlessness, which can create a state of disorder. Let us align our ways with Scripture, not the world.

Here, Jonathan Stanfield recalibrates us to Jesus’ instruction to us to be a house of prayer. We often focus on teaching, prophecy, or praise and worship, but Scripture reveals that the early church was devoted to the prayers, prioritising times of prayer. God tells us that in heaven, there are bowls filled with the prayers of the saints—will the bowl of our churches be filled to the tipping point?

Day and night satan is accusing us, trying to intimidate us - when we lose perspective, those tactics can become giants in our lives. Jonathan Stanfield reminds us that God calls us to come forth in His strength and face these giants – just like David faced Goliath. The good news is that it is the Lord’s battle, and He will provide the victory, when we submit to His ways and rely on Him. We must make sure that we have truthful intelligence, and that we are trained in supernatural warfare – therefore it is important for us to store the Word of God in our hearts. Recalling past victories, by remembering what Christ has done for us and hearing testimonies of His work, prepare us for future battles. We are fighting in a war where an opposing kingdom wants to conquer us, but in His power and anointing we run toward our giants.

We know about God, but do we know Him experientially? In this enheartening message, Jeff Kidwell leads saints into a special time to taste and see that the Lord is good. It is not only our seeing of Christ, but our experiential tasting of Him that is so crucial to our faith, and the fruit that we bear. He reminds us that we need the Holy Spirit to give us a desire to thirst and hunger for Jesus who is the Living Water. If we do not desire Jesus’ presence, we will not seek Him or thirst for the things of God. In His presence, we will find joy. This promise is dependent on our need, and on our personal response and participation. He desires everyone to come to Him for themselves, we cannot experience the presence of God for others. God has a plan and a purpose with each of our lives, and it starts with us saying ‘yes’ to Him. In this stirring message, Ryan Kingsley reminds believers that we weren’t just saved out of slavery and left to wander the wilderness - we were saved to enter a promised land. We must look to the world around us and give our lives to bring others into this inheritance with us.

The Lord has determined good works for us long ago - will we listen to this call or are we hoping to live out our own dreams and ideals? This message is a call to action: We must wake up and act or we will miss our inheritance like the Israelites wandering the desert, not acting on God’s commands. With Jesus as our Commander and the Holy Spirit as our Helper, we will be able to do all that the Lord is calling us to.

Using a testimony from his own life, Brad Verreynne shares on the importance of coming into God’s presence and letting Him speak His words over our lives. The enemy wants to accuse, intimidate and discourage us, but God wants to wash and fill us with His Spirit. Like Joshua the high priest, the believer’s true position is that of standing before God, in the presence of angelic beings. From that place, in faith, we can confront the mountains in our lives.

God wants to baptise our eyes daily, so that we will see with the eyes of faith. As we remain in His presence, we are strengthened and sustained to swim in the river of Kingdom activity. As we work and swim in this river, we are not alone. God has given us the gift of “us”.

It is important for believers to grasp the gravity of sin – it is not only what we do, it permeates even creation itself. Without the perfect sacrifice of Jesus, we will face His wrath, as He is perfectly just. In this message, Andrew Selley unpacks the impact of sin, explaining why God’s judgment will be so severe. In times where the Bible is being diluted and twisted, we must yield our understanding to Him, embracing both God’s kindness and His sternness.

We Will Not Bow Down | Chris Staples

Modern-day culture is pressing in on us, attacking our identity and causing an identity crisis in the world. It is only in Jesus that we can discover the secure identity He has intended for us from the beginning. In this message, Chris Staples journeys through the account of Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, who stood secure in their identity as followers of the God of Israel – even when they were threatened to accept another identity.

Just like Daniel and his friends, we need to be a generation that says: we will not bow down to foreign gods. Instead, we will cling to Jesus and the Word, so that we can remain steadfast to the end. As we strengthen our understanding of our identity in Christ, and firmly root ourselves in Him, we can be faithful, joyful, mature witnesses who withstand the enemy’s destructive lies. We are not fighting a culture – we are standing strong in the truth.

The Company We Keep | Jonathan King

In this session, Jonathan King reminds us of our value in Jesus: that we are precious and loved, but that God is calling us to deeper knowledge of and intimacy with Him – and this requires full surrender. We are the company we keep, and when we keep company with God continually, our identity will be firmly rooted in Christ instead of swayed by the confusion in the world.

Jonathan explains what it means to grow in deeper knowledge of and intimacy with God, and highlights that by really knowing Him, we will be able to trust God and His ways. In a world so focused on individualism and self, we need to look away from ourselves and look to Jesus. Relationship with Him isn’t built on sporadic encounters. Rather, as we spend time with Him, we will grow in our knowledge of and maturity in Him. This is where we start to live with abundance of joy, becoming more and more like Jesus because we are soaked in His presence.

Restoring the Bride | Euan MacRae

A cruise ship is a large vessel built for passengers who desire comfort and entertainment, but it will not hold up in stormy waters. It is not God’s intent for the New Testament Church to be a vessel like this. Rather, His intent is for us to be a ship of crew members, working together to navigate any seas toward the common goal of advancing the Kingdom of God.

In this message, Euan MacRae looks at how God intends to restore the Church to His original intent – namely through shaking all that can be shaken. When God does this, He is able to create a Kingdom focus in us and produce unshakeable fruit. God’s Kingdom cannot be shaken, and this season of preparing the Church will produce unity, strength and holiness in His Bride – purifying and preparing her to meet the Groom.

In Jesus’ final prayer, He prayed for His disciples, including us. He asked the Father to keep us in unity with Him, and with one another. This shows that unity is of utmost importance to the Lord, and worth contending for. The cost is great, but the Gospel is worth suffering and losing our lives for. Also, Jesus has promised that the Holy Spirit will help us and give us power (Acts 1:8) as we obey and give ourselves to this great call. Just say “yes” and be available to Him.

Interrupting Faith | Euan MacRae

We can sometimes have an expectation of how the Lord will respond to us. We limit our thinking of how we believe the Lord wants to treat us. The story of the Centurion’s servant (Luke 7:1-3) shows us that the Lord wants us to have “interrupting faith” that allows Him to break our boxes and enjoy His favour.

What is “interrupting faith"? It exists in a humble heart that is expectant but not entitled. It is the kind of faith that releases power anytime, anywhere, and knows that God always has a better way. Finally, interrupting faith can create unprecedented possibilities. With Jesus, anything is possible – miracles can happen and demons can be cast out by the power of the Spirit.

As a response to his message, Euan felt in particular to call any young people who struggle with sexual impurity and who want freedom in this area to come to the front for ministry and prayer.

A Life Worthy of The Calling | Daniel Barnard

In Ephesians 4:1, Paul pleads with believers to “live a life worthy of the calling [we] have received”. Every person who has received Jesus has been called by Him. We shouldn’t confuse calling with the gifts given to us by the Holy Spirit. The gifts may enable our calling, but they aren’t the calling in itself. Because all believers are called by God, no believer is a “celebrity”, and no believer is called just to cheer on others who clearly “have a calling”.

The calling of every believer is to receive (mercy, grace, kindness, the gifts of the Spirit, power, etc.) from Jesus, and then to serve others with what they have received. If it is dry serving Jesus, it is because we have stopped letting Jesus serve us. It is as we let Him serve us that we have something to give to others (John 13:8).

As for Me & My Family | Jonathan Stanfield

Family matters. The first sheep Jesus calls us to disciple and lead are our family. While ministry is important, we must bring our families through in the Lord and not sacrifice our children on the altar of ministry.

Using the household of Stephanus as an example (1 Corinthians 16:15), Jonathan explains that God’s desire, and the greatest blessing for a family, is salvation. We should therefore make it a regular practice to pray for our family. In addition, we should serve our families and be in their lives daily. Serving is the antidote to a “selfie” culture. God also requires devotion to the things of God. He is not looking for fans but followers who seek the Kingdom of God first (in finances, interests, relationships, schedules and troubles). Finally, we are to outdo one another in showing honour. Honour is the reward for a life devoted to Jesus.

As believers, we are called to be people who follow The Way (Jesus), not our own way. Following Jesus means a willingness to follow Someone who was rejected and marginalised for speaking the truth. People rejected Him because they were offended by Him and His words. They wanted a Jesus of their own making; one who didn’t make them uncomfortable.

In the same way, as followers of Jesus, we should expect to be rejected, labelled and shamed for speaking the truth and taking a stand for Him. A time is coming when the church will be persecuted, even from within, and we must be ready for it. God will empower us by His Spirit as we lay down our lives. Many are willing to die for Him, but are we willing to live for Him?

What Should We Live For? | Andrew Selley

"But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light." (1 Peter 2:9, NIV).

As believers, our identity is rooted in the fact that God loves us and has chosen us as His own. He has made us all ministers (priests) unto God and each other. This means that there should be no "celebrities" or "kings" amongst us - there is one King, one Hero, and His name is Jesus. God has also made us citizens of heaven; a "holy nation". Are we still grappling with sin; are we still being made holy?

The same Scripture speaks to our calling. As believers, our job is not our calling. Our purpose in life is to proclaim the Good News, and to make disciples of nations, through the church (Matthew 28:9). To whom do we belong – ourselves or God? What are we living for – our own appetites, or to declare His praises?

Leading by The Spirit | Brad Verreynne

God never intended for our meetings to be good “productions”, but meetings led by the Spirit of God. We need to let God choreograph every meeting, expecting and allowing for the unexpected. Every meeting is a God encounter in which He wants to reveal Himself and interact with His people. As elders, we need to be attentive to His heart and His voice, ready to shift direction to wherever the wind of His Spirit wants to go. In every aspect of the meeting, even in announcements, we should look for God and remain sensitive to picking up His heart. What we see in Scripture is not a “well-oiled machine” but meetings teeming with life, where the saints play their part and contribute prophetic words, songs, testimonies, etc. Spirit-led meetings work when there is a relationship between the elders and the worship leaders in which they communicate with each other and feedback can be shared in an encouraging environment. Elders are, in a sense, a shadow of God, working together in team with Him by following where the Spirit is leading.

As pastors, we need to be faithful and effective ministers of the Gospel, always thinking how we can weave the Gospel into our preaches and always throwing out the net for people to get saved. We also need to consider the language we use when preaching, avoiding "Christianese" and using ordinary words that non-believers will understand instead. The best preachers are thinkers who plan how they will land their message and extend a call for response – first to those who want to get saved and then to believers.

What are the roots and fruits in our lives?

In this session, Angela preaches about the work of God in our hearts, and how He is sufficiently able to do within us what no man can do. By telling stories from her own life, she explains how we can (attempt to) draw from sources other than Jesus, who is the only real-life source. She explains roots and fruits, and the need to repent of ungodly roots which give rise to ungodly fruit. Jesus has a way for the tendencies of our hearts, and therefore we must turn to Him. Turning to God means asking Him what He is bringing to the surface now, renouncing our disgraceful ways (2 Corinthians 4:2), and looking upward to Him to save us (Isaiah 63:9).

What are the differences between grace and favour?

In this session, Andrew Selley preaches on the grace and favour of God and explains the differences between the two. “Grace” refers to the undeserved and unearned love and mercy shown by God to the human race when He accepted Jesus’s sacrifice on the cross as a penalty for all our sin. Because Jesus has done it all, we cannot “earn” our salvation and are saved by grace. “Favour”, on the other hand, is the special blessing or benefits of God. Just like Jesus (Luke 2:52), we can grow in favour with God.

He encourages believers to “never be lacking in zeal, but to keep [their] spiritual fervour” (Romans 12:11).
