The Mailroom app from Cartolina is geared for creative small businesses, including Etsy sellers and indie designers. It offers an easy interface that adds a little fun to boring business correspondence from companies to clients. Definitely checking this out!

Projection Music Video: "Sweater" by Willow

noreply@blogger.com (claire teschel) — Wed, 12 Sep 2012 22:15:00 +0000

This music video is so neat! It was shot with 3 video projectors, and beaming images onto the walls and floor. You definitely have to do a double take a few times.

Jacqueline Wagner: 3D Illustration

noreply@blogger.com (claire teschel) — Tue, 04 Sep 2012 14:43:00 +0000

I recently discovered Jacqueline Wagner, a designer based in London who specializes in 3D illustrations. I love the layers she achieves by working in 3D- the subject matter and colors are especially interesting too. Visit her site and blog for more beautiful work and an in depth look on her process.

A fresh start

noreply@blogger.com (claire teschel) — Thu, 24 May 2012 17:16:00 +0000

It sure has been a while since I posted some of my own work up on the blog. I was super busy planning our wedding, but now that the last thank you note has been stamped I've been brainstorming what the next steps are for dot + jim. I put it aside for a bit to focus on building The Nimbus Factory, but I think it's time to hop back in.

As my love for all things wedding grew over the past year, I thought why not expand on that? My inspiration was taken directly from elements of our own wedding- vintage hankies and memorable lyrics.

I hope you'll enjoy this sneak peek at the new dot + jim wedding collection!

Oh happy day!

Boy, was April 14th a fun day. Here are a few of our favorite shots!

All photos copyright Jade + Matthew Take Pictures.

Martha Stewart paint chips served as place cards, strung from a flea market ladder.

My matron of honor and I fashioned these cotton bouts.

The Nimbus Factory Custom Wedding Invitations

noreply@blogger.com (claire teschel) — Thu, 01 Mar 2012 14:47:00 +0000

Happy almost spring! I wanted to give everyone a peek at my wedding invitations since I did the same for my save the dates (see 2 posts below). I worked with my talented Nimbus co-worker, friend and illustrator Emily Dove on bringing this whimsy, Savannah-themed idea to life. So happy with the end result!

I've been DIY'ing my socks off lately for the wedding. I hope to post a few of my projects and "how-to"s in the upcoming weeks!

I just finished mailing off my second-to-last batch of save the dates. I am very satisfied with how they turned out. A big thanks to illustrator Julia Kuo for drawing a juicy peach for the frontside. Here is a peek of the finished product!

On a side note, I have been a very bad blogger lately. I'm doing more pinning these days than blogging!

southern flourish magazine: spring 2011

noreply@blogger.com (claire teschel) — Sun, 20 Mar 2011 03:15:00 +0000

I'd like to share some shots from one of my most recent projects. The Nimbus Factory was asked to collaborate with the magazine Southern Flourish to create an advertorial based on the art of the handwritten recipe card (using our recipe cards). I was delighted to photo style the shoot which took place in my very own kitchen. :)

I tried making a Chocolate Hazelnut Nutella cake to use as a prop, but it turned into a bit of a disaster. I sure had fun scarfing the leftover nutella down though. ;)

To subscribe to Southern Flourish, mosey on to their site- they have some really inspiring articles!

mibo paper projects

noreply@blogger.com (claire teschel) — Thu, 20 Jan 2011 22:03:00 +0000

I love these guys! (also know as The Wild Bunch). You can buy them on Mibo's site, then print and build them yourself. They would look great at a little one's birthday party or even perched on a kitchen window sill. :)

firsts

noreply@blogger.com (claire teschel) — Sat, 08 Jan 2011 05:39:00 +0000

My holiday consisted of many firsts. These are the most memorable ones.

My first trip to wine country.
My first time sampling "conveyor belt sushi".
My first time showing a boyfriend my hometown.
My first trip to Disneyland! I even got a fancy button.
My first time falling down an escalator (It's ok, you can laugh. It was pretty amazing).
My first time seeing the Golden Gate bridge at nite.
My first time eating the best rotisserie chicken of my LIFE (roli-roti food truck in SF).
My first time seeing my mama in a cap and gown.
My first time being pretty darn certain of my future.

is it spring yet?

noreply@blogger.com (claire teschel) — Tue, 04 Jan 2011 15:51:00 +0000

I would love to have a tea party in a tree someday.

tim lisko: the shinkansen series

noreply@blogger.com (claire teschel) — Tue, 07 Dec 2010 16:14:00 +0000

Here are some amazing shots by my former SCAD professor, Tim Lisko. He took these photos while traveling on a bullet train from Tokyo to Osaka.

High train speeds and lengthened exposures create an image so blurred as to produce strong patterns, lines, colors, depths—something that turned out to be a sense of balance, of simplicity, of stillness.

I am partial #2. Excellent work, Tim!

A big thanks to Apartment Therapy for featuring my Yosemite card on their Affordable Art: Wall-Worthy Greeting Cards post last month. I am honored to be in the same category with so many super designers.
