I just finished mailing off my second-to-last batch of save the dates. I am very satisfied with how they turned out. A big thanks to illustrator Julia Kuo for drawing a juicy peach for the frontside. Here is a peek of the finished product!

On a side note, I have been a very bad blogger lately. I'm doing more pinning these days than blogging!

southern flourish magazine: spring 2011

I'd like to share some shots from one of my most recent projects. The Nimbus Factory was asked to collaborate with the magazine Southern Flourish to create an advertorial based on the art of the handwritten recipe card (using our recipe cards). I was delighted to photo style the shoot which took place in my very own kitchen. :)

I tried making a Chocolate Hazelnut Nutella cake to use as a prop, but it turned into a bit of a disaster. I sure had fun scarfing the leftover nutella down though. ;)

My first trip to wine country.
My first time sampling "conveyor belt sushi".
My first time showing a boyfriend my hometown.
My first trip to Disneyland! I even got a fancy button.
My first time falling down an escalator (It's ok, you can laugh. It was pretty amazing).
My first time seeing the Golden Gate bridge at nite.
My first time eating the best rotisserie chicken of my LIFE (roli-roti food truck in SF).
My first time seeing my mama in a cap and gown.
My first time being pretty darn certain of my future.

tim lisko: the shinkansen series

Here are some amazing shots by my former SCAD professor, Tim Lisko. He took these photos while traveling on a bullet train from Tokyo to Osaka.

High train speeds and lengthened exposures create an image so blurred as to produce strong patterns, lines, colors, depths—something that turned out to be a sense of balance, of simplicity, of stillness.

I am partial #2. Excellent work, Tim!

The Nimbus Factory will be making an appearance at the super cool Cleveland-based art show, Made in the 216. I participated in the show (as dot+jim) 2 years ago when I first moved up there. It is a great opportunity to get some Christmas shopping done and sight-see in lovely Ohio City. Come visit!

Over the past 6 months, I've been working on a new business venture with 2 of my former American Greetings co-workers and 1 other design pal from San Diego. We have been developing our own design boutique called The Nimbus Factory (site up soon!). We will be selling our wares at Renegade Craft Fair in San Francisco in December, along with the Made in the 216 show in Cleveland, OH next week. I have been photo styling like crazy this week- below is a taste of what we have in store!

On November 26 (Black Friday), our site will be officially open for business. Please stop by after you do all of your mall shopping!

To begin, my friend Dan is awesome. For Halloween this year he took on a huge project- creating a giant 8-bit version of his head. He used insulation foam, joint compound, a cardboard box, glue, gesso spray and acrylic paint. And the super sweet tie was purchased from ThinkGeek.com.
