From the Swedish-language site Jihad i Sverige, I am cross-posting (and translating) an announcement of a feature film that is showing this weekend in Sweden about the arrival in Malmo, Sweden of Jewish survivors of the Holocaust. A 2-minute trailer is also available in English at the below link (Hoppets Hamn) The film is appearing as part of Europe's observation of Holocaust Remembrance Day (January 27).

As Jihad i Sverige points out at the top, Malmo today is no longer hope's harbor, rather it is the capital of Swedish anti-Semitism. The Jewish community is leaving Malmo as fast as it can get out, unable to deal with the harassment, assaults and vandalism it suffers from Malmo's Muslim immigrant population, which makes up some 25% of the city's population, and has turned the Rosengard section into a "no-go zone."

And what support do the Jews get from Malmo's mayor, Ilmar Reepalu? None. His attitude is that the Jews are welcome to leave since he identifies them with Israel, a nation he despises. He is a disgrace.

Another Vicious Anti-Semitic Post by La Voz de Aztlan

I have previously posted articles about the vicious anti-Jewish website, La Voz de Aztlan (The Voice of Aztlan), run out of Los Angeles by a couple of characters supposedly named Hector Carreon and Ernesto Cienfuegos. Not only does this sick website perpetuate the notion that the Southwest US rightfully belongs to Mexico, it also regularly features foul attacks against Jews. Of course, the site also takes the Palestinian side vis-a vis Israel. In fact, Carreon actually made one of those George Galloway-led Viva Palestina trips to Gaza a couple of years back. But it is not just criticism of Israel; this sick website is dedicated to attacking Jews as people.

Now comes La Voz de Aztlan taking up the cause of Patricia McAllister, a substitute teacher fired by the Los Angeles Unified School District last year for making vile statements against Jews and saying they "should be run out of the country" during an Occupy LA protest. According to writer Ernesto Cienfuegos, it was the "Zionist Jews" who engineered her firing.

Of course, there is one thing lacking in the above article. Nowhere is there any evidence of any Jewish person(s) having anything to do with her firing. The fact is that the LAUSD decided on the basis of their own common sense that her comments were way over the line, and that she had no business being in a classroom.

Not only does dimwit Cienfuegos overlook the obvious fact that a similar comment about Hispanic people would have also resulted in her firing (or any other people), but he goes on to validate the canards that "sinister Zionist Jews" are in control of everything in the country including the printing of America's money at the Federal Reserve, which they "should transfer to the Congress". Don't take my word for it, just read this nonsense in their own words.

I want to make one thing very clear. As one who is married to a Mexican and has spent some 37 years living with and interacting with the Mexican/Mexican-American community in Southern California, this in no way represents typical Hispanic thinking toward Jews. These are fringe characters. That one of them accompanied George Galloway to Gaza speaks volumes about Galloway and his associates.

Brief Thoughts on the Jacksonville Debate

Last night, Rick Santorum outperformed the other three candidates. He came on strong. Ron Paul made a nice impression with his one-liners, but little else. In contrast to South Carolina, Romney took it to Newt Gingrich, who just didn't shine like he has in the past. Of course, he (Romney) suffered a gotcha moment when it was revealed that he had put his "I approved this message" statement on that Spanish ad that accused Gingrich of referring to Spanish as a language of the ghetto. (The truth is that these candidates don't really review each and every ad before they let that statement go on. There are too many.)

One thing I have noticed that doesn't help Gingrich. When Romney is addressing Gingrich or vice-versa, he (Romney) looks directly at him. Gingrich, on the other hand, never looks at Romney when he is attacking him even though they are standing next to each other. A small point, perhaps, but non-verbal communication and body language do leave an impression.

I sure liked the answer Newt and Romney gave to the Palestinian gentleman. I don't think he liked it much. Why didn't Paul and Santorum have a chance to comment on that point about Israel and the Palestinians?

I am coming to the conclusion that Gingrich, with all his brilliance and debating skills, is too volatile. It bothers me. Right now, I favor Santorum, but if he can't come up in the polls, it looks like Romney will be the guy. I haven't made a final decision yet, but it comes down to who is the most conservative candidate that can beat Obama in a debate and win the election.

What Kind of Afghanistan Will We Leave Behind?

In Iraq, today's news tells us that another 35 or so Shi'ites have been killed by yet another bomb explosion in the "stable" Iraq that we left behind (according to President Obama). Why Are We Increasing Aid to Egypt?

This depressing bit of news from Reuters strikes me as making no sense in a period we are experiencing a poor economy and should be looking for things to cut. We are increasing our aid to Egypt. This appears to be yet another instance of the US trying to bribe nations into behaving themselves.

After the recent election, the forces of the Muslim Brotherhood now control some 75% of the Egyptian legislature. The country's peace treaty with Egypt, while technically still alive, is really finished, for all practical purposes. As for the religious minorities, principally the Coptic Christians, their situation, already bad under the previous strongmen, is becoming increasingly dire as acts of violence and church destruction continue.

And we are increasing aid to Egypt-obviously in the hope of encouraging them to behave themselves, keep the peace with Israel, and hopefully, transition to a real democracy, where Christians, Muslims, Jews and Athiests will all march hand-in-hand into a brighter tomorrow.

Don't bother explaining to me that, behind the scenes, US diplomats and negotiators are twisting arms to make the Egyptians understand that this aid is dependent on them doing the right things. I get that. I worked in the American embassy in Bangkok for three years and five years in the American consulate in Milan. I clicked cocktail glasses with the officials who engaged in that waltz. I also know that, in the end, countries do what they want to do and usually play the US like a violin.

I also know the argument that foreign aid makes up a "tiny" portion of our government spending. The problem is there are tens of thousands of government expenditures that make up a tiny portion of the whole.

This is no time to be increasing aid to anyone except ourselves.

California State University Chancellor Affirms Israel Study Program

Once in a blue moon, good news comes out of academia (once in every two blue moons in California). We have been following the story of a group of California State University faculty to pressure CSU Chancellor Charles Reed to not resume student study programs in Israel. That movement was led by a nutty professor at CSU Northridge named David Klein, who initiated a petition letter, signed by some 80 like-minded activist professors and the usual student suspects from Students for Justice in Palestine and the Muslim Student Association.

Chancellor Reed has made his decision, and it is the right decision. The Investigative Project on Terrorism has the report.

I applaud Chancellor Reed for not caving in to the activist faculty who work for him. However, this is just one small victory in the war that exists on university campuses, both in the US and Canada to delegitimize the only truly democratic state in the Middle East, a state whicb is besieged by a sea of dictatorships and human rights violators who will not accept Israel because it is a Jewish state.

Is it not legitimate to ask why, on college campuses, the major issue of political contention is attacking this tiny country on behalf of its enemies-enemies who preach hatred, destruction, and violence?

Canadian TV Idiocy

Here is an example of irresponsible comments coming out of Canada on V-Tele (Quebec TV), commentator Stephane Gendron. This man is a big supporter of the Boycot, Divest and Sanction movement against Israel, and he buttresses his opinion with statements accusing Israel of all kinds of dastardly deeds. Vlad Tepes has a report complete with a couple of video clips (in French with English sub-titles) showing Gendrone making his impassioned accusations. Among other things, Gendrone maintains Israel does not have a right to exist. His inflammatory statements have drawn a protest from Honest Reporting Canada.

It is one thing to take the Palestinian side and criticize Israel. When you take the position that Israel has no right to exist, then one should ask why the one democracy in the Middle East has no right to exist in a region inhabited solely by turbulent dictatorships that routinely abuse human rights. Aside from what is shown in the clips, the article also describes other statements made by Gendrone which are more directed at Jews themselves. That is despicable.

Taliban Release Video of Killing Pakistani Soldiers

The Taliban in Pakistan have just released the video of their brutal execution of 15 (or 16?) Pakistani soldiers whom they had captured. Most news services are not showing it or just showing pictures because the video is so graphic and disturbing. I choose to post it because I think more people need to see the nature of the enemy we are fighting.

Today, President Obama arrived in Arizona, a state his Justice Department is suing. He must have taken the Air Force One Red Eye. I could have sworn I watched him on TV in Washington DC last night. Anyway, what happened next is reported by Weasel Zippers.

So Arizona Governor Jan Brewer had heated words with Obama. Without being privy to the conversation, it is hard to say whether Brewer was out of line or not. As I just tuned on MSNBC, there was "Butter and Egg Man" Ed Schultz waxing indignant to liberal writer E.J. Dionne about the "disrespect" being shown to the President of the United States by Governor Brewer.

Well, if anyone knows anything about disrespectful discourse, it is Ed Schultz. This is the same guy that was suspended by MSNBC for a week for calling Laura Ingraham, a "slut" on radio. Save your lectures, Ed.

As for the President, it seems to me his visit to Arizona was a bit, ahem, inopportune given Fast and Furious and the fact that his corrupt attorney general......

Murder in Houston-Why?

My friend and colleague, Karen Lugo, has written another excellent piece in Townhall, this time regarding the murder last week of a 30-year-old Iranian woman in Houston. No arrests have been made, and it appears the cops can't figure out a motive for the killing and thus, suspect it was a random act. If, in fact, this young woman was killed for leaving Islam and/or speaking out for women's rights in Iran, then this would be a case of someone acting out shariah law in our country. Worse yet, it could be a case of Iran carrying out an act of murder in our country.

When you have a case of a person fearing for his or her life, and said person winds up murdered, it is ludicrous to pass it off as a random act of violence.

By the way; where are the voices of the feminists? I've been trying to find some comment from the National Organization of Women, especially their Houston chapter. So far, I can't find anything.

Ohio State University Newspaper Ad

It lists former Muslim Student Association leaders of various college campuses who have gone on to join the ("lesser") jihad. Frontpage Magazine also has a report about the controversy.

What about the statement that there is a fine line between freedom of speech and hate speech? How does this compare with statements made at UCI over the years by Amir Abdel Malik Ali, Mohammed al Asi, and others?

Breaking News! Nancy Pelosi Knows Something

Yes, indeed. At least that's what Spoker of the House Nancy Pelosi is saying; she knows something about Newt Gingrich that will ensure he can never be elected president. I guess she had to say something to liven up what otherwise was a pretty boring Tuesday night in Washington.

Apparently, it can't be related to that course Newt was teaching in college in Georgia. Amazing that they would go to such lengths to find out everything he said before his class. That stuff is going on all over academia every day.

Could it have anything to do with that video Newt and Nancy made on that now-infamous couch? I mean after the cameras were turned off?

Truth is, we know the guy has flaws. He has more baggage than JFK Airport on a Saturday night. If it involves another sex scandal, we have already set the bar pretty low with Bill Clinton. No matter what it is that Nancy knows, we have set the bar pretty low with all of our politicians.

My biggest concern about Gingrich, who Rick Santorum correctly described as a man with a million ideas, is that he will turn the White House into the most chaotic place outside of LA County Hospital on a Friday night. Those who worked with him and under him when he was speaker of the House, said it was non-stop stress. The man is obviously brilliant. Maybe too brilliant.

At any rate, I am not too concerned that President Newt will bring us another Clinton moment in the White House. It's that Calista that worries me. What I fear is another Harding moment in the White House.

Maybe that is what Nancy knows.

Currently, McKinley is under fire and under a recall drive as a Fullerton City Councilman as a result of the beating death last year of a homeless man named Kelly Thomas by a group of Fullerton cops. (Two police officers have been charged in the death.) Below is a video produced by Kelly's Army and posted in Friends for Fullerton's Future. It contains a graphic photo of Kelly Thomas in the hospital which shows the damage to his face.

Courtesy of the blog, Friends for Fullerton's Future, which is active in the recall drive, here is a video of McKinley speaking this week before a group of ladies in the nearby Brea community who are concerned about inappropriate actions by police who stop them. Aside from the Thomas case, Fullerton PD also underwent another scandal as a result of complaints against officer Albert Rincon, who was accused of several instances of physically molesting women he stopped. According to Friends of Fullerton's Future, McKinley was the chief of police while Rincon was on the force.

Of course, being retired law enforcement, I don't rush to condemn cops. Nevertheless, just watching this video of McKinley, my reaction is; "Does this guy have a clue?"

Obama's Snoozer

"The State of the Union is getting stronger."

Tonight's State of the Union speech, like most State of the Union speeches, was not particularly exciting. This one was one of the most boring I have heard-especially coming from President Obama. Tonight, Obama took me back to when President Ford broke into the first game of the World Series to give a speech in Kansas City before the Future Farmers of America and drove the entire nation into a fury telling us to turn out the lights and clean our plates (Whip Inflation Now). Tonight, it was not only the usual laundry list, it was a technocrat's manifesto. I thought I was listening to an hour long commercial for Magic Jack.

And how about that audience (Congress- our national leaders)? Talk about term limits! It looked like those audiences you used to see on the Lawrence Welk Show.

"Ah wunnerful, ah wunnerful, ah"

So what was the emotional highlight of the speech-the one that got the biggest rise out of the audience? Was it his joke about spilt milk? Or was it when he called for an energy tax credit bill? Don't ask Transportation Secretary Ray Lahood. He got caught on camera dozing before the guy next to him poked him in the ribs to stand up and clap.

I really got a kick out of it when Obama said that bundlers for Congressional campaigns should not be allowed to lobby before Congress.

What about bundlers for presidential candidates who lobby the White House after said candidate is elected president? Can you say Solyndra and George Kaiser?

Finally, there was his grand announcement of the creation of the new bureaucracy called the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Then, as the camera spanned to a stressed-out looking Attorney General Eric Holder, Obama said he is directing Holder to form a new corps /Corpse/? of criminal investigators to prosecute those responsible for the mortgage meltdown.

It has been almost an hour since the speech ended. Somebody better go back into the chambers and wake up Ray Lahood.

Will There be Religious Freedom in Egypt Under the Muslim Brotherhood?

I had the pleasure of participating in a conference with Rabbi Cooper in San Jose a couple of years back. He brings up the name of Jimmy Carter, who witnesssed the Egyptian elections and has been praising the process. It would be nice if Mr Carter addressed the issue of treatment of Copts in Egypt. Even though he is an evangelical Christian, I doubt it fits into his agenda.
