A few recent thrift finds: a vintage slip for wearing under dresses (the ‘Gossip’ label makes me chuckle), a wool hat (handmade judging by the endearing wonky bobble), and a sea urchin shell to complete my little display.

I’ve already fallen head over heels in love with several of the pieces from the Whistles S/S ’12 collection. The lace dress with the open back and the scalloped leather top are divine, and there’s also a certain pineapple print dress (which is already available to buy online) that I wouldn’t mind calling my own.

I like to collect things, I always have done (perhaps hoarding is in my genes?). I’m continuously starting little collections that never really go anywhere, but this is one I’d like to work on. I don’t know what it is about snuff boxes that I find so appealing. Maybe it’s because they’re small and intricate. Or maybe it’s just because Lord Grantham (of Downton Abbey) collects them too, and I have delusions of grandeur.

Whatever the case, my collection currently sits at a modest number of two. The first one was a Christmas gift from Ian. The second one I’ve had for a long time, and you may have already seen it several times on my blog. This one has also caught my eye, but it costs a pretty penny!

University doesn’t often present situations for fancy dressing (fancy dress on the other hand…), but sometimes I just want to. I thrifted these snake print shoes last term, and I’m still undecided on them. They are so 90s, with the slightly square toe and clunky heel. Actually, they’re kind of hideous, but I think I kind of love them. What do you think?

P.S. While I remember, I somehow got long-listed for the Company Style Blogger Awards, under the ‘We Love Vintage’ category. While it would be nice to make it to the shortlist, I very much doubt that I’d be able to make it to the awards ceremony in March (because of university commitments). That being said, there are lots of other wonderful bloggers in that category, such as Cait and Sally, so I recommend that you go vote for them!

Nope, haven’t disappeared again (yet!). I’m just having a busy first week back at university. This is my last term, which I’m both relieved and sad about. But I’ll tell you something for nothing, I’m definitely going to miss living in this beautiful city.

Alexa Chung for Vero Moda S/S 2012

I couldn’t resist reposting these straight away. This is exactly the style of photography I love, and while I’m not usually keen on Vero Moda clothing (it’s the quality that lets it down), I’d wear any of these pieces in a heartbeat. I want to steal those brogues.

LØV by Vanessa Bruno

This video has been around for some time now, so it may be old news to some of you. It is to me too, but I never got around to posting it and I like it so much that I wanted to have some record of it here. Long-time readers may remember that I posted Vanessa Bruno’s S/S ’10 video campaign a couple of years ago and that I was absolutely in love with it. The campaigns that then followed didn’t really strike any chords with me, but her latest one is wonderful.

As with all of the Vanessa Bruno video campaigns so far, it’s directed by Stephanie Di Giusto, who always comes up with the best and most surreal filming techniques. It’s like a dream reminiscent of some kind of dark Scandinavian fairy tale, and to top it all off, Kate Bosworth’s acting is flawless (and wow is she pretty!).

I tried to look up the translation of the word løv but got mixed results. Apparently it either means ‘leaves’ or ‘law’, but perhaps neither of those are right. Does anybody speak Norwegian?

Nothing quite beats a stroll through the woods on a crisp and sunny Sunday morning. I like to think of this as my ‘old lady at the car boot’ look, which is exactly where we were prior to taking these photos, hence the multitude of layers. Unfortunately the car boot was a bit of a bust (unless you count buying the board game ‘David Dickinson’s Antique Chase’ as a success [for the record, I do]). It was such a beautiful morning though, so I’m glad I was up and about to enjoy it.

P.S. If you are stupid enough to walk around the woods in heels, this (⇧) will inevitably happen. And if you’re lucky, your dear, sweet boyfriend will be on hand to affectionately capture the moment, just as mine was.

A couple of things that I thrifted this morning: another floral headband, and a creepy-in-a-good-way hand vase that doubles up nicely as a ring holder. I’m so pleased with the headband, it’s a little more subtle than my other one and it has little anemones on it (one of my favourite flowers). Even better yet, it was only £1.50. A morning well spent, I say.

By jove! An outfit post! But, er, not a very good one. Apparently my camera remote has run out of battery so taking photos of myself with a tripod today was not easy. And I never really mentioned it here, but I bought a 50mm 1.4 lens over the summer and it’s quite difficult to focus when you’re using a tripod and remote, at least I think so. Ho-hum, I probably just need more practice.

Anyway, what I really want to share with you is this magnificent Topshop leather skirt that I was given for Christmas (thanks Mum and James!). I’m crushing on all things shiny at the moment (and I know I’m not the only one), so this skirt really is perfection in my eyes. The jumper is thrifted, the boots are also Topshop and my necklace is from We Never Sleep. If I had access to the rest of my clothes I probably wouldn’t have worn these boots but alas, everything’s up in Edinburgh and I’m back home for the holidays.

By the way, might anybody know how to remove creases from metallic leather? Bit of a long shot, I know. The back of this skirt is still quite creased because of the way it was packaged, but I’m too scared to take an iron to it!
