I had absolutely no intention of posting here before May 14th, but when I saw these designs by Natalia Grzybowski, which are part of her S/S ’12 collection, I had to take a moment to share them with you. Maybe it’s just my biology-consumed dissertation brain, but I think these prints are the most beautiful things I’ve ever laid eyes on. They’re such an interesting and modern take on floral design. Even the shape and structure of the pieces make me think of big, velvety petals. Absolutely spectacular.

Just wanted to drop by and say that I haven’t abandoned ship, I’m just really busy finishing off work for the final year of my degree. You won’t see much activity here until after May 14th, but you can bet that I’ll be back and blogging up a storm after that.

A lazy outfit for a lazy day. My weeks are so packed with university work at the moment that by the time the weekend rolls around I just want to relax and do nothing. It wasn’t particularly sunny, the sunglasses were just to hide the relentless bags under my eyes (from many an hour of staring at spreadsheets).

I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect black loafers for a long time now, so I jumped at the chance when Le Bunny Bleu offered to send me a pair. As far as perfection goes, these come pretty close!

Today we visited Malleny Garden, which is just on the outskirts of Edinburgh. Unfortunately, there wasn’t much to see as, being winter, all the plants are still dormant. It was very peaceful though. We also went to a garden centre (one of my favourite past times, I’m such an old lady) and to Edinburgh’s Butterfly and Insect World, which was amazing. Butterflies everywhere! One even landed on me but I wasn’t quick enough (or flexible enough) to get a photo. I might post some photos from there tomorrow.

I thrifted this Jaegar jacket maybe a year ago, it’s weird that I haven’t shared it yet because I like it so much. It’s really good quality and such a perfect shade of camel.

Just very busy. I have three pieces of coursework to hand in soon and thanks to my dissertation project, I’m working in a lab from 9-5 most days. I would have plenty to say if you wanted to hear about PCR and gel electrophoresis, but I’m sure you don’t, so I’ll just share these pictures instead.

This year Leanne kindly swapped bedrooms with me, so I’m not longer in my little box room. My new room is very red, but also very spacious and comfortable. If you’d like to see more of the dress on the bottom left, you can click here.

We’re planning a mini day trip for tomorrow, so hopefully I’ll have some more photos to share soon.

A few recent thrift finds: a vintage slip for wearing under dresses (the ‘Gossip’ label makes me chuckle), a wool hat (handmade judging by the endearing wonky bobble), and a sea urchin shell to complete my little display.

I’ve already fallen head over heels in love with several of the pieces from the Whistles S/S ’12 collection. The lace dress with the open back and the scalloped leather top are divine, and there’s also a certain pineapple print dress (which is already available to buy online) that I wouldn’t mind calling my own.
