Rivers Interlinking

The main planing was chalked out in 2002-2003 under Atal ji in which a plan was passed to interconnect thirty links and built three thousand reservoirs. The idea was given by Arthur cotton in 19^thcentury and that was basically for navigation. The idea firstly came into India in 1972 when K.L.RAO the then minister of irrigation and power under Prime minister Indira Gandhi presented the idea. In 1982 National Water Development Agency (NWDA) prepared plan for thirty links, three thousand reservoirs and 12500 km of canals. It was a very daunting project. In 2002 NWDA estimated 5,60,000 crore investment need in this but was not implemented.

Why interlinking?

– to check flood in north east and eastern area.

– drought in western and peninsular India

– temporal and spatial variation regarding precipitation and availability

– depleting ground water resource which is 62.95 percent used for irrigation.

Advantages-

– tackling drought and flood.

– more benefit example approx 34GW will be produced but for pumping will require only 3500 MW.

– 35 million hectare addition under irrigation.

– agriculture production can be doubled

– More availability of utilisable water.

– Increase in employment 10 lakhs approx every year.

– growth of food processing industries

Limitations -

– High cost is the biggest hurdle.

– Its viability is in speculation.

– Resource mobilisation.

– Rehabilitation and resettlement

– Interstate problem.

– environmental and ecological loss.

Conclusion- It is needed and may be started not on whole country scale but at small scales and thus part to whole approach can be applied like that of Pattiseema river project in which Godavari's water is pumped through 174 km canal to parakasham barrage vijaywada.

There are some alternatives as well:-

– effective conservation in management of watershed in sub basin region

– in urban areas efficient and effective use (recycling)

– Desalination (though previously was costly but not decreasing and can be seen from Saudi Arab)

I can not remember when was the last time we concentrated this much on this section. Is it really important to talk about them, who are they?

Global citizens can be divided into two parts Indian and non Indian. Indians can be then subdivided in residents and non residential Indian citizens .Non Indian can be dived into two parts they are person of Indian origin and others. So an Indian Diaspora consist of NRI and PIO.

They are the one who are in different parts of world representing India at World stage be it

Satya Nadela, Kiran Desai or Sundar Pichai etc. They can play a significant role in government decision making process and sometimes even act as the pressure points. It is a good gesture of government as it is making them feel they are a significant part of democracy and they are indeed , not only politically also economically. This will help in getting 70 billion remittance to India and that can be effectively used to lessen the burden of borrowing money.

INDIA'S DEMAND FOR PERMANENT SEAT IN U.N.S.C

Before going into the matter directly let what is UNSC and why it is so much important to India.

UNSC is one of the six organs of United Nation and its main aim is to maintain peace and security in the word. It has five permanent members and ten temporary members who gets reshuffled time to time. The permanent members were the countries which won the world war II and emerged as the biggest economy in due course of time. The main focus is that they have a special say in any UNSC matter in form of VITO power.

Now we all know this is 21^st century, the scenario has changed in a lot of way such as Germany is not in ruins now but one of the largest economy of Europe, India is also the fast growing economy and in some ways competing with the Chinese economy. As Christine lagarde said “India is a bright spot on the dark horizon”.

So the main question isn't why India should be a permanent member but is that why a country having 1/6 th of the world population has no say? Or why even a continent like Africa has no say in the matters. And Why in a dynamic world UN organs are not dynamic?

In my views we have a valid mandate because-

– it is the best democracy of the world

– a democracy with 2/3 is working age population.

– has the biggest contribution to UN peace keeping force with 1.85 lakh force personals.

– 3^rdlargest on purchasing power parity basis

Conclusion- Though the UNSC reform are not that close and the world need to keep working on it to prove its dynamism and representation of real 21^stcentury but India's recognition and acceptance at the world stage as a level player and a world leader is a very good sign .

The Cold Night

The night is cold empty but still busy in the sounds of trucks and buses. It sometimes makes me feel afraid or may be oblivious.And I think it is going to take more than few hours of this cold night to soothe the blisters of sun. Looks pretty same as the night I came here in this strange city with bags of book and bundles of disappointment.You know what's about this night? It always makes me feel I am alone as if I am leaving some part of me behind. I have left friends and I have made new ones many times but there is always this night in between "the leaving night or the soulless night" and no matter how accomplished I am before that night, it doesn't feel the same.
Though I agree that this darkness gives me strength to fight alone but it is not asked for.It makes me feel the pace of time as it passes by. I guess It is high time I stopped thinking what's in past or future and enjoyed the present. Because she is beautiful and I have made her such by my own hands and she is all mine.

It feels good to be writing after a long break.One complete year ! isn't it ?

I am sitting in front of my room in Girnar hostel of IIT D, which looks like what my NIT C's mega_hostel may look like when it is complete. This place is a infrastructural beauty. It is hard to tell, whether it is a collage or a huge garden full of peacocks.Lamps on both side of roads makes the campus magically lit up all night long making it hard to stay in rooms at night.

Ironical isn't ? how hard I resist these changes and even regret them at the beginning but finally all adds up to be a beautiful memory to be cherished.I had no plans of ending up here and though I still don't have but for now I am here and I intend to enjoy this awesome place to its fullest.Oh ! i forgot to mention Anil , he is my classmate here from Alwar Rajasthan and he is fitness freak and is making me run at 5 am in the morning and then gym. And then there are these awesome Profs (Mr Dutta and Mr Rammana) who teach so unconventionally that you can listen to them all day long without even blinking.

I never thought I would stay here, I had planned to get placed somewhere before actually classes started but that didn't happen (fortunately !! ). I thank God for that or I could not have met these awesome people (anil, Shahi, Anubhav,Herok,Pawan and others ). And now I really feel that God has cooked up some really cool plan for me.

Till then I will simply look above and smile
and ask "seriously God what's your plan."

European Emigrant Crisis

I am going to give a brief picture of what the matter is all about.

People are migrating from West Asia, Africa, Balkan countries even Pakistan and Bangladesh. The resin behind is very wide and different for different countries but in simple worlds it can be said that it is due to instability political, social and economic in these areas. Like from West Asia mainly due to ISIS, Arab spring or civil war in Africa, Syria crisis, yamen crisis and other fringe elements activities. Then what question arises, why only European countries? Why not Asia. The answer is pretty simple ,the boundaries of Europe are not that restricted as that of Asia's and they have a developed economy. The prospect of better future is more viable there and inter country movement is also not that tough with the sanguine pact between 26 European countries in with no visa or passport is needed for inter country movement. And how did I forgot to mention a better human rights record is also one of the most important reasons reason.

The Chaturvedis

Many people in India have the surname Chaturvedi. They are also called Chaubes ( just as Dwivedis are also called Dubes ). Many Chaturvedis are my friends.
There are three interesting things about Chaturvedis :
(1) They were originally concentrated in the area comprising of the present districts of Mathura, Agra, Firozabad, etc ( the Brajmandal ) in the state of Uttar Pradesh, though of course they later spread elsewhere, e.g. to Malwa where they are called Malviyas ( e.g. Pt. Madan Mohan Malviya ), and some even went abroad.. However even now there are a lot of Chaubes in the Mathura region and nearabout, and they are bhaktas of Lord Krishna.
(2) They call themselves Brahmins, but traditionally a Chaturvedi boy could only marry a Chaturvedi girl, and not other Brahmans like Mishras, Shuklas, Dwivedis, Trivedis, Bajpais, Pandes, etc
(3) They are usually fair, handsome and intelligent.
What is the historical origin of Chaturvedis ? This could be an interesting subject of research.
I would like to present here my own views.
As I pointed out in my article ' What is India ?' ( see on my blog justicekatju.blogspot.in and the website kgfindia.com ), India is broadly a country of immigrants, like North America.. As I have explained there, people migrated into India for thousands of tears, mainly from the North West ( and to a lesser extent, from the North East), because people migrate from uncomfortable areas to comfortable ones, and India was a very comfortable region, with level land, fertile soil, plenty of water for irrigation, etc
So for thousands of years people kept migrating into India, and hardly anyone left India ( except on two occasions,as indentured plantation labour to Fiji, Mauritius, Guina, etc in the 19th century during British rule and the diaspora of highly skilled professionals over the last 30-40 years to North America, etc ). Why should anyone migrate from India, which is comfortable, to a place like Afghanistan, which is cold, mountaneous, covered with snow for several months in a year, and so uncomfortable ?
Of course, these migrations and invasions into India were probably not as a steady stream, but sporadically, in waves.
So my guess is that the ancestors of the present Chaturvedis came from the North West of India ( since they have Caucasian, not Mongoloid, features ) in some wave of invasion or migration, thousands of years ago, and settled down in the Mathura-Agra region.
Now India had tremendous assimilitative capacity. Everybody who came here from outside got assimilitated here. So when the ancestors of Chaturvedis came and settled in India, the local Brahmins told them that they too will be regarded as Brahmins, but they must inter marry only among themselves. Other Brahmins would not marry them. So that is how Chaturvedis traditionally married only among themselves.
I would often tease my Chaturvedi friends, by jokingly telling them that they were not Brahmins at all. This would make them very upset, and they would insist that they are Brahmins. Some would ask me what they were ?
Sometimes, to please them, I would tell them that they are Greeks, descendants of the Greek soldiers who came in the army of Alexander the Great in 326 B.C., and settled down in India at the time of Alexander's General Seleucus Nicator, who inherited the Eastern part of Alexander's Empire on his death.
That is why, i would tell them, you are so fair, handsome and intelligent like the ancient Greeks
But at other times, to pull their legs, I would tell them that they are descendants of barbarian Huns

A long Stretch of unproductive time

So this is me sitting in my room frustrated, angry, depressed and lazy. I mean some times I wonder what a fluctuating personality I have, always either high or low never in between. On the table , steel notes and on the bed is my laptop..facbook..gmail..whatsapp..all the pseudo shit with all the pseudo people showing how fucking their life is in a way better than others and how much they care for you.Even their congratulation seem nothing but hollow.And still I turn up to them always.
Certainly I have figured out there are only a few who cares what should be u doing and how the fuck you feel and still its stupid for you to think that they will be feeling the same as u do for as long as u feel the same. I mean they can see the shoe isn't fitting but they cant feel it.
In a way people have let me down, even God has let mein down. And time to time I have realized that in time of need only one Hero has come up for me and that ass is ME :).

So as I write this down I wonder what the fuck I am even writing and Why?
Does anyone care ? Fuck no
Do I care ? hell no !
Am I using FUCK too much ? may be.

Remember my faith in myself counts only when Its me only against the world, against all odds, against all FUCKING STRANGLING Inertia.

So in the end I just want to say I love you Saurav, you are damn awesome, you know you can beat any one when you ass in on fire So Believe in yourself you are a world within, talk through within.

1) coal block allocation is reverse allocation (for power sector) , that is base price is fixed and lowest bidder gets the block for electricity so they have to distribute electricity at lower prices and other sectors like steel etc will have normal auction that is base price is fixed and highest bidder will get it. But in UPA it was done bay discretionary machinery which allocated it and got zero money from it and UPA said it was zero loss allocation.

2) should OIL price be reduced as it is heavily fluctuating in international market?
-there was a historical backlog which oil companies had and by this reduction in oil price in international market the oil companies have lost of about 30k crores.were to account for this and one thing more, the inventory loss itself is about 30k crore, so these companies wont be crushed ?

3) Land Acquisition hype:-

When the act was made under UPA gov, this act had a section 105 ( scheduled 4) in which they had put put 13 pieces of sectors including railway,highway,coal ,atomic energy.These 13 purposes where "exempted purposes", which did not need consent or social impact assessmentand not even food security conciderations is required and purpose where it was defective- UPA put defense as urgency purpose but forgot to put it as exempted purpose (is it against India's national defense interest ?) . So if Gov. of India needs land for defense purpose or nuclear installations then there will be unnecessary complications like getting consent from 70 % of people around and then they will do social impact assessment and if they can't complete installation in 5 yrs then it has to stop the work.
The act says
"SOCIAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT AND FOOD SECURITY "SHALL" APPLY WHEN LAND IS REQUIRED FOR SECURITY AND DEFENSE "

In a daunting move Arun jetly challenged Antony( last defense minister to come up with papers and say no, if strategically important works weren't being held-up because of this bill.

2nd point to note ( rural infrastructure)- irrigation was not an exempted purpose (even though UPA gave assurance in LS and RS both that it will be done. )

In an argument made that the (amendment) Bill is anti-farmer and anti-poor… He said

Understanding frequently used terms in in very simple ye conceptual way :-

INFLATION AND DEFLATION:-
Inflation-"It is the sustained increase in the general price level" of basket of commodities and service. Remember a saying Commodities and services are real and not the money, eg Let two years back cost of one marker was Rs 10 and now it has increased to Rs 20.So it simply means that now yer Rs 10 can buy only half of that commodity, this means that value of money w.r.t has decreased ( this is w.r.t within a country nothing to do with foreign ). Similarly Deflation means "value of money has increased".
For example let a creditor gives a loan of 10,000 to a debtor and then next yr inflation occurs then if the debtor returns 10000 to creditor, it means creditor loses and debtor gains.So to tackle this the creditor increases the interest rates.

Now what's a Inflation cycle ?

Ans:- Price increase result in-
profit- increase result in- ( read it like, Price increase results in profit increase and profit increase production- increase result in results in....)
employment- increase result in
purchasing power- increase result in
demand increase result in
price increase.

Now what's Philip Cycle ?

Now what's Engels curve ?

On y axis is % of income spent on food item and on x axis is income ( here we are talking strictly about the basic food needed otherwise we can spend a fuckload on food and waste them naive of the situation of people starving ! pardon me. ). So your income was Rs 5000 and basic necessity food costs Rs 500 (i.e 10 % ) but your income increased and this percentage went down to 1 %.

Bali Package and Indian Subsidy

Bali Ministerial conference has witnessed the 1st ever agreement signed under WTO because it needs a unanimous consensus of all the 168 members.This agreement is basically based on trade facilitation and regulation of custom rules for the mutual growth of its members.
So what's the Indian Issue there ?

The matter revolves around the food security policy of India under which it has started providing food grains to around 2/3 of population ( 75 % rural and 50% urban ) at a highly subsidized rate .For example rice for Rs 3 per kg, wheat for Rs 2 per kg and coarse grains like millet,bajra etc for Rs 1 per kg. Because for this India will incur a subsidy of around 125 lakh crore in mere 1 year and which is going to increase exponentially in coming years.Now India is on the verge of breaching the 10% limit ( for Developed countries this is around 5 %) with respect to subsidies on agricultural production as specified after Uruguay round of WTO conference.(It is to be kept in mind that the calculation of price is on the basis of base year 1986.)
After India's hard bargaining in Bali a temporary four year suspension had been excepted by WTO members with respect to government purchases under statuary programmed like that of food security and assured that a concrete plan is going to be prepared in order not to hamper the Indians need and cause. But the BJP government under Mr Modi is skpetical of WTO's motives as it hasn't even started preparing any plan and our government had said that they have to continue the food Security policy as they have an obligation to fulfill the article 21 of the constitution .
But the most important point to note here is that there are two types of subsidies, one is producer subsidy and other is consumer subsidy and WTO has a say only in the producer subsidy because if the producer subsidy is more then the producers will produce more and ultimately foreign producers will not be able to market their products.But an easy alternative for that can be direct money transfer to the consumers, in that way it will be a consumer subsidy and WTO can't have a say in it

A long Road trip.

So while watching this movie about road trip I was too temped to plan one.
And fed up of this monotonous life,I thought there's nothing better than a long road trip .Then the most basic question arouse "with whom " ?. My mind strolled upon every one of my friends from back to now. Its not only about the road trip its about "whose devils will play along with your's " and I could not think of more than these few awesome people I have met till now ,Rohit ,Rahul, Chandan ,Deepraj,Ashish,Avinash,Jatin,Gaurav and pity ,no girl till now in that list.
