The Philippines is considered the franchising hub of Asia, where franchising has experienced phenomenal growth in the past decades. From only about 50 brands in the 1980s, there are now 1,000 brands franchised in the Philippines (68 percent of them homegrown concepts), in five principal franchise sectors: fastfood; retail clothing; cafes, confectioneries and bakeshops; hospitality and wellness; and food carts. Of the entire franchising sector, food brands make up 41 percent, service establishments 32 percent, and retail outlets 27 percent.

In the Philippines, where over 45 percent of retail sales in shopping centers are from franchised enterprises, franchising contributes $6.6 billion or five percent of the Philippine GDP and provides employment for one million Filipinos.

Alegria “Bing” Sibal-Limjoco, CFE (uFranchise Sales and Mgt., Inc.), chairman of the Philippine Franchise Association (PFA), cites franchising as the fastest method for business expansion.

“Simply speaking, franchising works because it duplicates an already successful business,” states Limjoco. “There is already a system in place, and all a franchisee must do is to follow that system — no more hit and miss.”

Franchising, a proven business model with a 90 percent success rate, makes use of other people’s money, time and organization, allowing for rapid expansion. With the prime mover advantage, a franchise brand can penetrate and saturate the market faster, easily attaining market leader status.

While current trends point to food, health and wellness, and tourist-related as franchises with the most potential, Limjoco zeroes in on two key qualities for a franchisable concept: differentiation and profitability.

“Your product or service must stand out; there must be something unique about the idea you are franchising and you must look for your niche,” notes Limjoco. “And of course, the concept must be profitable — that is the bottomline of business.”

For those considering franchising, it is recommended that the business must have been running for at least a year already, to be able to have a benchmark for future franchises.

“The franchisor must have a solid business plan,” Limjoco adds. “He must know where he is and where he wants to see himself in the future, and how he will go about it.”

To set up a franchise, the potential franchisor must undergo a franchise development process that will define the franchise structure. The franchisor can do this on his own if he is qualified enough, or consult with franchise experts at the Philippine Franchise Association.

“While there is no mandatory registration exclusive for franchising, it is important to get a trademark for your idea at the Intellectual Property Office to claim ownership of your brand,” advises Limjoco. “All business endeavors must also be registered at the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) for single proprietorship and at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for corporations.”

The potential franchisor can then lay down the franchise agreement, develop the franchise operations manual, and then begin franchise marketing and sales, either through a franchise broker or their own department.

Comparing franchising to a marriage, Limjoco emphasizes the importance of screening potential franchisees thoroughly: “Franchising must be done with the right partner; it should stay in business for the longest time.”

Above all, Limjoco reveals that most important factor for a franchise: the franchisor’s passion for his business.

“The franchisor must believe in his concept and want it to grow. He must take success into heart, and have the drive to do what it takes to achieve his goal. Then the commitment to the franchise will not feel like work, but second nature,” she concludes. - PhilStar

Upcoming Seminars For Philippine Franchise

Potential franchisors with business concepts that are ready for franchising can attend the “Franchising your Business” Seminar on July 4 (1-4 pm) and 5 (9-12nn) at the Philippine Franchise Association’s Franchise 2009: Philippine International Franchise Conference and Expo (PIFCE) at the SMX Convention Center. Entrepreneurs interested in acquiring a franchise are also invited to attend the “Invest in the Right Franchise Seminar on July 5 (1-5 pm).

If you want to be updated on more seminars and franchise opportunities, don’t forget to subscribe by entering your email address on the form found on the top right corner of the site.

Now is the time to take on the initiative to end the decade-old phenomenon of rat race.

In today’s global economic status, everybody must be creative, resourceful and assertive. Laid- off workers must not mourn over the misfortune, instead see it as an opportunity to get up and move on. This is the right time to be your own boss, be an entrepreneur. You must not let this crisis pull you down and the rest of the working class. You can make a difference, you can create jobs. Yes, you heard it right; you can be the boss of your own business and at the same time provide job opportunities to others. All these are possible through FRANCHISING!

Franchise business in the Philippines is one of the most outstanding and successful businesses. Look at Jollibee and the rest of the giant food chains sprouting around. These are just few results of franchising. Whenever you think of opening or starting up of a business, it is always imperative to know all the details of the entity you would like to engage in. In franchise business, money is not the top most important, but rather your knowledge on the process and the product that you would like to offer to your future customers. There are few factors that you need to consider if you are eyeing on this kind of business. First consideration is the product. You must choose a franchise that interests you the most. Choose the one that you frequently use at home or at work. Feed your mind, and make some research about it. Second factor to consider is the customers. After you have chosen a product, then think about your future patrons. Study your market so you can offer them the right product or service.

Starting a business whether it is small or grand always requires a careful study. The next factor to take into account is the location. This factor is the most crucial part because the life of your business greatly depends here. You have to place your business where your clients are. More so, you have to remember that competition in any franchise is stiff. In one area, there may be more than one kiosk or store offering the same products that you have. So, how are you going to solve that? Always keep in mind to look for the best location where there are more customers and fewer competitors. The next thing to note on is the demand. This factor is somehow related to the location of your business. You must be in the place where most if not all of your customers are since the more customers you will have the greater the need or demand of your product. Another very important factor is the cost. You must know how much you are willing to invest in your franchise. Know your starting capital, production expense, marginal and employment costs. This is essential since you have to retrieve your previous expenses and at the same time have profit. Last but definitely no the least factor is your capacity. You must be serious, positive and enthusiastic in pursuing your franchise. Take note that your franchise can grow big if you put heart into it.

Franchise business in the Philippines is bright and promising. It is the answer to the current economic crisis, unemployment and decent source of livelihood. Franchise business is a great avenue for people who aim to start a business. There are a number of franchise businesses to choose from here in the Philippines. There are low-budget franchise businesses that usually come in kiosk and cart forms, while big and high-end ones are also available.

Franchise business in the Philippines has grown tremendously from food to clothing line to almost everything that people use in everyday life. Surely, you will find the best franchise of your interest, choice and budget. Search for the most credible franchise business, the company who shows passion and commitment to the business – a reliable franchise company.

A lot of young Filipino entrepreneurs are getting into this type of business more and more each day. With the 90% success rate in such businesses, who wouldn’t be interested in starting one?

True enough, the franchising business is booming. It is developing at such an astonishing rate. The industry has only been in the Philippines for about 11 years but according to the Association of Filipino Franchisers, Inc. (AFFI), there are now about 900 franchises all over the country! In fact, the Philippines is now known as the “franchise hub of Asia”.

But do you know what franchising really is? And do you have any idea on how it works? Let’s take a closer look to see if this business model is right for you.

Franchising 101

Franchising is defined as a business model wherein the owner of the business (franchisor) gives the independent operator (franchisee) the right to distribute his products, implement his business techniques and use his brand and/or trademark in exchange for a fixed franchise fee and a portion of the gross income (royalty fee, advertising fee, etc.).

What makes this business model so attractive is that it takes all the guesswork out of the equation and provides the franchisee with the proven formula and the exact system for a successful business endeavor. So, if you’re going to be a franchisee, you just need to follow the franchise’s exact system and you’re on your way to guaranteed success. Now, that means cutting your risks significantly and protecting your hard-earned money!

If, and when, you decide to go into franchising, there are several things that you need to do to further increase your chances of success. With the wide variety of franchise opportunities available, you need to decide which one is right for you, learn how to choose a viable franchise, and then know the basic steps in getting one.

Choosing a Franchise

Contrary to what most people think, your budget should not be the main gauge in choosing a franchise business. Of course, it should be a part of your selection criteria but it shouldn’t be the primary deciding factor.

Instead, what you need to do is take a closer look at yourself. Know where your passion lies. Just follow your heart and it’s almost guaranteed that your franchise business will be a huge success!

Now that you have a concrete idea on what franchise business suits you best, it’s time for some serious research. Get to know the existing franchise opportunities in your chosen niche. Make a list and take a closer look at each one of them. Consider the brand, the business model and the support package being offered.

Choosing the brand. When you go into a franchise agreement, you are buying the name of your chosen product or service. You are banking on it to get an early lead over your competitors. So choose wisely.

Consider the business model. See if your chosen franchise business has a well established business system. Does it conduct its business effectively? If you see that the number of its franchise outlets is significantly increasing, then it means that business is good and it’s probably worth it!

Are there any available support? One good thing about franchise agreements is that the franchisor offers support and guidance to each of its individual franchises before and during operation. It’s really a part of the package – and a vital one, too! Quality control, continuous research and development, and trainings should also be included in the overall package.

You also need to check the legitimacy of the franchise. Head off to the DTI office nearest you and see if your chosen franchise is registered and not some “fly-by-night” operation. You also ask if the franchise is affiliated with any existing legitimate franchise groups such as the Association of Filipino Franchisers, Inc. (AFFI), Filipino International Franchise Association or the Philippine Franchise Association. Remember, it’s always better to be safe than sorry!

Steps in Getting a Franchise

Now that the research part is over, you are now a step closer to your dream of running your own franchise business. You will need to prepare the required documents (usually a Letter of Intent to Franchise, an Application Form, and a Site Location Proposal), have an interview with the franchisor, sign the franchise agreement, and pay the franchise fee.

Now you’re ready to start earning!

But, what happens when you don’t know where to start? What franchise should I get? Should I get the help of franchise consultants?

First of all, if you’re starting out, you might want to save most of your money for your franchise fee and other expenses and just do the research as well. This post is about that. We scour the depths of the world just to know what are the 8 most popular Philippine franchise today. Ok, maybe not the whole world… Let’s get started.

8. Water Refill Franchises

The reason why most businesses succeed and others not, is because they focus on the needs of the people. Water, is a basic need. That’s why, water franchises are all over the place and they make money.

Minimum Investment Required: P20,000

Why Is It Profitable: Water is a basic necessity

7. Education & Training Franchises

With millions of graduate students finishing their studies on a quarterly basis and expected to rise even more every year, review centers and educational training schools are a good way to franchise. These franchises never go out of style because you can also target the market such as undergrad students who wants to take vocational courses and preschools for toddlers, which are all profitable when done right. Also to note that there are a lot of people wanting to go to vocational nursing schools and care giving courses. It is a good safe investment.

Minimum Investment Required: 1Million

Why Is It Profitable: Fresh graduates reviewing for licensure exams, vocational courses & preschools.

6. Bakery & Food Store Franchises

Ahh, another necessity. Who doesn’t eat pandesal? Bakery and food store has been with us since our lolo’s and lola. And there’s a reason why there are still there up to now, they are profitable and time and time again, Filipinos just like to eat. Your morning breakfast just wouldn’t be complete without a pandesal or a bread together with a nice cup of coffee.

Minimum Investment Required: P250,000

Why Is It Profitable: Food is a necessity. Pandesal & bread has been a part of Filipino culture.

5. Bar & Cafe Franchises

Bar’s are always been a go getter. If you own a bar, especially a reputable franchise, you can always assume you will get the return of your investment. Now on the other hand, Cafe franchises are good. Filipinos love coffee. Remember the time when Starbucks first opened their shop in the Philippines? It’s a so much hit that even the socialites go starbucks all well dressed just to drink coffee in the late afternoon. Cafes signifies class and your market will be those that can afford to pay more for every cup. Customers plus high buying potential is equals to more profit.

Minimum Investment Required: P250,000

Why Is It Profitable: With popular franchise, return of your investment is almost at 100%

4. Personal Care Franchises

Celebrities took part in the popularity of this franchise industry. Personal care franchise are easy to promote simply because celebrities are already promoting them. If local stars & celebrities are talking about them rampantly, you know that the followers and fans are going to go after that franchise. Also, spas and sauna has become a weekly habit for some people that became a part of their routine.

Minimum Investment Required: P200,000

Why Is It Profitable: Celebrities creating buzz will most likely ease your marketing campaign.

3. Service-Type Franchises

What are these service-type franchises? Car wash franchises, printing shops, and the most popular call centers these are all profitable franchises under this category. We know how many people wants to work in call centers. And call centers are in demand outside the Philippines because of our ability to talk in English clearly. One of the best in Asia. Picture this, Americans paying you, the franchise owner, dollars and you are paying your employees pesos. This is a lucrative franchise indeed.

Minimum Investment Required: P2 Million

Why Is It Profitable: Very lucrative. International and world market possible.

2. Fast Food and Restaurant Franchises

Yet again, we see the proof that Filipinos really love to eat. Who doesn’t know Jollibee, McDonald’s & KFC? Fast food franchises are almost all the time will never fail. Though the return of investment will be somewhat long, the fruit of long term income is certainly obtainable. Jollibee, McDonalds and other fast food franchises maybe a bit too much for people that are starting up, there are other choices as well. Small fast food franchises are out there and you can still earn from them.

Minimum Investment Required: P150,000

Why Is It Profitable: Filipinos love to eat!

1. Food Cart & Kiosk Franchises

When you’re talking about necessity, food cart has it, we are talking about food right? When you’re talking about accessibility, food carts, they are everywhere! Standing and waiting at a small corner of the street or a mall waiting for you to buy a piece of something to eat. When you’re talking about price, food carts can cost at around 20,000. A very small investment. There’s nothing bad to tell about this type of franchise and highly recommended for people who are starting up and even those who already have the money. Be careful though where you buy your franchise and make sure that you’re getting them from reliable companies.

Minimum Investment Required: P20,000

Why Is It Profitable: Filipinos love to eat. Small investment needed. Accessible to anyone.

But if you do not have enough time to do some feasibility studies, franchising is the solution for you. When you franchise, you will have a business that name has already been established, what you got to do at least is to hire someone who will run your store. Franchising has been rampant because it won’t use much of the time you have to use in putting your own line. There are different companies that allow it for their name to be proliferated and as well as the income would be generated without the cost of managing number of stores at a time. However if you are still unsure of the franchise you will get, you ought to hire franchise consultants. Franchise consultancy has been defined as a fast rising professional industry devised for investors, businessmen and economist to be able to assess businesses and its capability to be marketed.

Franchise consultants like any other consultant does the same thing, to advise the client on what business he or she should go to. Franchise consultants often say that what they will give you is free of charge, no matter how they will advise you and will study about it, it will be free. Actually, consulting is free in your part but no one would be that of a Samaritan where he puts every bit of knowledge he has for free – of course the consultant will get commission as high as 40% from the franchise company immediately after the deal is done. Nevertheless one should be aware that there are franchise consultants who will refer you to a franchisor that will give him the biggest commission. Better yet try to read everything in his research or papers so that you will not be wasting huge amount of money. Being a franchise consultant is comparable to a real estate agent, they both are middleman to a buyer and seller, and they also both get commission from every done deal. The only difference you can see is a franchise consultant should be more equipped with data regarding what business he is recommending to his client. He should be aware of the system in that kind of business and be aware of the basics in that kind of business.

Usually a franchise consultant works with franchise-knowledgeable attorney and franchise-knowledgeable accountant. The two professionals mentioned above are very fundamental when it comes to decision making of the client. The franchise knowledgeable-attorney would also study the contract like the consultant but he would be focusing more on the legal ground, like what could be the grounds for violation both on the side of the franchisor and franchisee. The franchise-knowledgeable accountant would focus more on the money matters specifically the checks and balances of the company. He should be able to present to the franchisee some financial predictions from the checks and balances together with the feasibility studies of the franchise consultant.

There are benefits one could get from franchise consultants, here are as follows: 1. The franchise consultant will teach the franchisee on how to study the trends of our economy – this is very important because one should be aware when to get how much stocks; 2. He will as well teach the franchisee to understand the franchise agreement contract – very essential because if the franchisee will violate any rules within the contract there is a big possibility that the franchisee will be sued and instead of gaining money, he might lose more; 3. He will teach you marketing strategies for your new business – very vital for a franchisee to know, because if he would not be aware of such his business would flunk, he should know how to market the products he has and eventually create a strategy of his own to earn more money.

At the end of the day, franchise consultants serve two masters. He should help the franchisee look for a suitable business based on the specific budget, location and manpower. He should also help the franchisor by means of building a high-end brand name for every franchise he carries and as well as making the franchise more franchise-able by studying more into it.

Here are the three secrets to franchise success:

1. Before you even look into a single franchise opportunity, you need to prepare. This process starts by knowing yourself and having a clear understanding of who you are and what you want to get out of a franchise. You should start with a thoughtful and thorough self-examination process that asks questions such as:

What do you like to do in a work environment, and what don’t you like? What aspects of business have given you the most success and enjoyment in the past? How do you feel about managing employees? What hours do you like to work? What are the general characteristics of the perfect working role for you?

How do you feel about risk? How much capital are you willing to invest in a franchise? How much debt are you willing to incur above your initial cash investment? How long can you operate without an income from your franchise and still sleep well at night?

What are your goals for owning a franchise? What do you hope to accomplish in your life through this venture? How will your life be different in a few years if you have a successful franchise business?

Once you have completed this self-examination, you should have a clear idea of not only the general parameters you want in a franchisee role, but even more important, you’ll know what you want to accomplish long term. This knowledge is vital to picking the right franchise rather than getting sold on something that doesn’t really match up with your goals.

2. Narrow down opportunities. Start looking at opportunities through the lens of the work you have already done. In the most objective manner possible, compare what you learn about the franchise opportunities you’re investigating with your answers to the questions above, and ask yourself, “Does this opportunity look like what I decided I wanted for myself—not just partially, but completely?”

If the answer is no, have the discipline to move on to some other opportunity. There are plenty to choose from, so don’t compromise on what’s important to you. Sooner or later, you’ll find one that matches your talents and goals, so keep looking. If the answer to this question is yes, then you’re ready to move on to the next step.

3. Trust but verify. You’ve taken the time to know what you want and to determine that a specific opportunity can provide you with what you’re looking for. Now it’s time for you to go into overdrive in verifying that your conclusion is, in fact, correct.

There are a number of key steps you should take in this verification process, including:

Calling Existing Franchisees. You may have already talked to a few franchisees to get a general feeling for the business. Now’s the time to get very specific. Pick a few who seem cooperative and lay out your specific plans and expectations. Say something like, “Here’s what I’m good at, here’s what I want to do, here’s what I want to accomplish—is this franchise going to be able to deliver these exact things to me?” Ask them what significant challenges they foresee for you. Keep making these calls until you are sure you’ve got what you’re looking for.

Shadowing a Franchisee. Ask one or more existing franchisees if you can shadow them in their daily routine. You don’t have to do this for months or years, but a few days spent in this kind of activity can give you a whole new perspective on the franchise. On a variation of this theme, you can also ask to work in an existing unit as an employee for a few days to get a feel of the operations of the business.

Getting Real with the Franchisor. Discuss your specific plans with the franchisor, especially operational support employees and executives of the company. They will appreciate the forethought you’ve given to what you want to accomplish and will usually be frank with you in return. Even though you might have a wonderful relationship with the salesperson you’re dealing with, keep in mind that that’s not the person we’re looking for input from at this verification point in the process.

At this point, you’ve completed all three of the secrets to preparing yourself for success as a franchisee. You’re ready to make a great decision. It’s time to move forward with the assurance that you’ve done all you can to prepare yourself for a wonderful experience.

And with the Philippine Franchise Association quoting a success rate of about 90% for local franchisees, consumers are bound to see more start-up enterprises choosing to invest in these established brands over their own brave new ideas, as the business sector braces itself for the effects of the global economic crisis this year.

Franchise, a form of commercial organization in which a firm that already has an established product or service lends its trade name to other, often smaller, businesses in exchange for a certain fee. The former, also called the franchisor, enters into a continuing contractual relationship with the franchisee, often guiding the latter as he conducts his operations.

“It has become the dominant business model for retail now,” said Rodolfo P. Ang, dean of Ateneo de Manila University’s John Gokongwei School of Management. “This is especially true for sectors like food services, hair care, garments, specialty retailers, technical and vocational schools, and convenience stores.”

Philippine Franchise appeal

A business owner’s decision to make his business available for franchising generally boils down to two reasons, according to Mr. Ang. The first, called the agency theory, runs on the belief that franchise outlets, which are owned and operated by different entrepreneurs
, tend to be better run than a company which simple has many branches. “Fifty outlets cannot be supervised personally by the owner so he hires people to do the job, but these employees will not run it as diligently as the owner does.” Franchisees, on the other hand, have their own capital investment at stake, and thus will pay more attention to the performance of their own outlet. Franchising is also a quick way to expand a business without draining the firm’s financial resources.

These advantages work both ways, as many amateur entrepreneurs find that adopting somebody else’s business concept and standards is one of the safest ways to get their feet wet in the field. “Any business requires a special expertise or product, which you either come up with yourself or purchase from others,” explained Mr. Ang. “If you have expertise and resources then go ahead and put up your own. But franchising remains a popular choice for those who do not have a lot of resources at their disposal.”

Joseph Whang, president of Best Brew Inc., a franchisee of Bo’s Coffee, said that a franchise appealed to him because it was an interesting concept that did not require too much work. “Just put in money and the franchisor will set it up. But you have to do all the management after that, of course.” Mr. Whang and his partners chose Bo’s Coffee because they found the owners easy to talk to and believed that the company had room for growth. After having established itself in the Visayas, Bo’s Coffee began expanding into the Metro Manila area, and Mr. Whang thought that he had found a good opportunity to grow with the brand.

With his shop only a few months old, Mr. Whang admitted that his small company is still feeling its way through the business, trying to look for areas to improve on since none of the partners is an expert in the area. But Mr. Whang’s group has reason to be optimistic. Their outlet in SM Megamall has been attracting a steady stream of customers without even having to promote or advertise itself.

However, Mr. Ang warned that such franchising success stories do not guarantee a happily-ever-after ending for the brave souls in the sector. “A lot of franchisees are unhappy,” he said, adding that it is because there are unscrupulous franchisors who are just looking to make a quick buck. Others may be uninformed or inexperienced. To protect themselves from such business risks, Mr. Ang advises potential franchisees to be careful in choosing what franchise to get. “Among the questions that franchisees should ask are, is the company ethical? Does it have a good business reputation? Are they a strategic thinking and a competent company?”

It would also help to talk to other franchisees and ask them about their experiences and relationship with the franchisors. “Don’t go in it blindly,” he stressed. Remember that with the franchise’s 90% success rate comes a 10 per cent chance of failure. — A.J.B. Dizon

This past year, it has been not very good with the global economic crisis. All over the world, all countries, all people are taking a hit. Top companies closing down and down sizing a lot of their employees. This is the time that we tend to realize that the road to financial freedom is not having to work for a company. As even the biggest companies may fall during hard economic times and you can only be at the mercy of your own employer. That is why this site was made to educate people about the Philippine franchise industry.

The Philippine franchise has just been realized a few years back when the small businesses started franchising and made a boost in their profits. Back then, jollibee Philippines was just a small ice cream shop turned into a hamburger stand and now one of the biggest and most loved Philippine franchise.

To achieve financial freedom and to assure that your family will never have to worry about money anymore is through entrepreneurship. Work and job can only give you money only as much as you put effort to it. Having your own business and a Philippine franchise, not only makes you in charge of your time, your business will be there up to your 8th generation grandchild having said that your business might live that long but its not impossible. In a job, you can not earn and work when you are old. Let’s take Coca Cola for example, it has been there for like ages… And those who own part of the company can enjoy the benefits of lifetime money.

The only way to achieve financial freedom is through business. And Philippine franchise is a good way to start. There are 18k - 80k small Philippine franchises out there and the big ones that may costs millions. You can start at a small risk and of course small returns at first. Build and gain experience in the industry before you risk millions to the big ones like McDonald’s or Jollibee. In which have been said that can return your investment in as little as 3 years. In which, after that, you can enjoy lifetime income.

Let us avoid ourselves of thinking about how high the salary pays, what job you took, or what job is in demand right now or what job is better. The only thing that can help you achieve freedom and financial security is through business. May it be buying or selling, Philippine franchise or offering service. Where, your main goal is at. This way, you can help yourself, your family and our country.

Invest in Philippine Franchise

If you don’t have the money to invest in bigger Philippine franchise like Jollibee. Keep in mind that companies such as these have their public stocks open in the stock market. There are rumors that Jollibee will now be closing its doors to franchising and would recommend interested people to just buy part of the company as stocks in the stock market. This is actually a good thing because, you may earn part of the company instead of just buying its name.

There are a lot of possible ways to earn and be financially free especially in business. What’s important is always be motivated to have a better living for your family and love our country. Don’t you think its about time we start doing business here instead of working abroad? Americans are migrating here to start a business, but Filipinos are going to the states to work for a job. Think about it, which one will yield the most return of your investment… Business or Work? You decide…

Now that that has been said. We wish you a very prosperous 2009! Happy New Year to All. Mabuhay po kayo!

The problem can be deciding which type of business to start up. Many people are fearful of starting their own business because they fear of never making a profit. Starting a franchise in the Philippines can reduce much of this risk. The advantages are that the business is based on a proven idea and your business will have a recognized brand name. Because of the advantages, a franchise fee must be paid to start.

One of the big things to consider when starting a car wash franchise is the location. First of all, you need to consider what city you will operate your car wash business in. Cities where it is warm year round may offer the best opportunities. People tend to wash their cars most when it is sunny. Once you decide on the specific city, you need to find a more specific location. A residential location may have its advantages. With a car wash business close to peoples homes, people will not have to drive very far to use the car wash services. However, a commercial location will also have its advantages. If the car wash is located in a commercial area, people may stop by the car wash on their way to work or on their way home from work.

It is very important that once you begin your car wash franchise that you advertise. In the city you start your car wash in, there is likely to be several other car washes. It will be important that you show why your car wash is different and better than other car washes. Word of mouth may be the best mode of advertising; however, do not overlook flyers, local newspapers, phone books, and internet ads.

Remember that with a franchise, in addition to paying the fee you will also pay out part of the car washes gross revenue to the franchisor each month. These are the costs of receiving the car wash brand name. However, being part of the franchise will give additional advertising and marketing opportunities that may not be available to non-franchised car washes. Now is the time to see if a car wash franchise is for you.
