There are several services out there that promise to do that for you… Aweber & GetResponse being the two most known services.

Now, those two got major competition. A few days ago I was able to look in detail into a new autoresponder service that’s available. So what does that tell you about the state of play of the existing services?

If all was lightness and good then new services wouldn’t stand a chance and wouldn’t even bother starting up.

The fact is, of the #1 and #2 AR services out there, they both have some major disadvantages.

That’s the voice of many people who have expressed an opinion in their favorite marketing forums.

I personally use what’s recognized as the #1 service – Aweber – but I’ve not been happy with what they have done a while ago.

Yes, they’ve added new features, but at a very hefty price tag. The features just aren’t good enough to warrant that additional price.

As a result, many new customers have signed up with the #2 – GetResponse – who have introduced new features, but then disappointed everybody as they don’t work.

Of course there is the alternative of using self-hosted autoresponder script like e.g. Add2it MailResponder Pro for the use with niche sites, but if you are like me running sites with an average daily email volume of over 1,000,000 emails, then you start looking for services providers that can take load of your server.

Also, while self-hosted autoresponder scripts are a great, low cost way to get started (one-time fee instead of monthly service fees), at some point you outgrow those solutions. If you are e.g. on a shared web server and want to email more then 30,000 emails a day, you either need to upgrade to a dedicated server or switch to a service provider.

Imagine my delight when when one of my long time buddies, Richelo Killian, surprises me with “Hey! Have you seen my new autoresponder service?”

After having spent some time looking at it, I think it’s damn near just what I’ve been looking for. But most important to me is it’s got something other services don’t have.

An API.

API stands for “Application Programmers Interface” and it means third party software can communicate with the service to do things like move people from subscribers lists to customers lists automatically, without them having to do a thing.

It also has simple “Web Service Integration”, where if people sign up to one of your lists, the web service will send a message via http: to any script you specify.

The web service and the API open up a whole new era for people like you and me, and you can expect to see a lot of scripts take advantage of that.

For example, you could offer free access to a membership site as long as people stayed on a particular list. If they unsubscribe, then they lose access. That’s the deal you have with them.

They receive promotional emails from you, and in return you give them free content. The commissions you earn from your promotional efforts pay for the time it takes you to create the free content.

That sounds like a pretty cool deal to me from both sides of the fence.

It has all the other standard stuff like unlimited lists, unlimited AutoResponders, OUTSTANDING deliverability and support, open tracking, click tracking, AMAZING reporting, and the list just goes on, and on!

I’m already signed up and I’ll gradually be moving all my lists across to the new service.

“How do I make money fast?”

Luckily for everyone who has ever had that question come to mind there is an answer!

There are several ways to make money quickly online, now we will venture through the online category.

Three sites to make money online…

1. Associated Content.

2. Cash Crate.

3. Forum Booster.

Let’s begin with Associated Content.

Associated Content should be the number one stop for those people who frequently ask themselves, how I could make money fast.

Associated Content requires you to write content, which in other words for those who aren’t familiar with the online language, content means articles.

Those articles you will write for other people and they will pay you anywhere from $3 to $40 for your content. Most of the time however the bids that they place on your content are for much less than $10. However, this is still a great way to make money online if you can type several articles per day. You may be surprised to see how easy it has become to earn a part time income through writing for Associated Content.

The next site that we will talk about is Cash Crate.

Cash Crate is a site that pays you to take surveys. They may pay anywhere from a dollar to possibly a hundred dollars, just for you to take a survey. Doesn’t sound too bad now does it?

The reason they pay you to complete surveys is that companies are willing to shell out loads of cash for in-depth information from their consumers to find out exactly what they word on the street is about their product or services. They even have a daily survey on the homepage that is guaranteed to make you some extra
income; the guaranteed survey on the homepage pays $0.80.

It may not seem like much but do the math, over a 30 day time period. That is almost $30 extra dollars just for taking surveys.

Are you still asking yourself that question, how do I make money fast?

Well if writing tons of articles and taking surveys doesn’t really sound like your cup of tea, there is always the alternative of Forum Booster.

Forum Booster is a website that pays you $0.10 for each post you make on a forum. This is great for those of us that would be searching and posting on forums either way, why not get paid for it?

If you can post sixty posts in 1 hour, you can make $6, which is not that bad for earning money online. It may not be minimum wage, but you have the advantage of being in the comfort of your own home. You can be in your pajamas sipping coffee while working on posting on these forums.

Each post should be a minimum of 12 words, which is not difficult to do at all.

Overall there are tons of ways to make money quickly online but these are just the tried and true and the best of the best.

The same applies to the Internet marketing industry even though there are unsavory people out there who’d have you believe it’s a “Walk in the Park” and requires no more than the belief that you can just do it.

And I’ll have to admit, it is a walk in the park compared to what you have to put up with in the working world punching a clock being a subordinate to someone who does not have your interests in mind, but there are still rules you have to follow and pitfalls you must avoid to actually make Internet marketing work for you.

Most people will not make a dime online and yet there are others who will make more in one month than most people make in a whole year. Why is that?

My answer begins with the age-old chicken or egg question, “What comes first the chicken or the egg”? Personally I vote for, well never mind, each argument you or I make comes back to the same old conclusion – I have no clue and I don’t think many of us do either.

But one thing I do have a clue about and know for sure is that to make money online you must first have Passion for the company, products and/or service of any Internet business from which you expect to make money.

Personally, I love programming and working on the computer… I started 26 years ago at age 12. Do do something that long you have to love it. And that’s why I started out my online business by selling software products I created until I moved on to create software that runs in membership sites.

Passion in this sense simply means that you’ve researched and like the company and products or services. It is then that you translate that like (or Passion) into the education, excitement and work that usually accompany Passion.

I will have to say that many online entrepreneurs are so good at what they do that they ignore passion because they can sell anything. But I’m concerned about those of you who are not so knowledgeable at working an online business successfully.

Now, I’m not trying to make anyone believe that Passion is the only thing necessary. Because to be successful you must also have a good website, good marketing, widespread advertising, company support, effective keywords, and etc. Those things are often learned from the company you join – but sidestep Passion and you reduce your chances for success dramatically.

It therefore follows that, if you have no Passion for the company and the products and services provided by that company, again, you won’t attempt to do the work you are being taught.

Internet marketing work is typically not all that difficult or time consuming but it does take motivation caused by Passion to get you off and running with a sustained effort so that you won’t stumble.

You have a great resource in the Internet search engines to search about the Internet Marketing industry for business opportunities, USE IT!

Your research should uncover a company that you like and have confidence in. It should be solid, founded on great principles, and easy to understand with great products and services that are sell-able for which you can have Passion. If you don’t find it move on, you can find the right opportunity containing the attributes identified above.

Comments like, well, that one sounds good and the compensation plan is excellent so I guess I’ll start that business – does not sound like a decision based on anything near Passion. And remember when you hear that an Internet “guru” does that, don’t be tempted, because as I said earlier they are experienced and can sell just about anything, without being Passionate about the company products and services.

Note: By the way it’s your goal to get to the point where you can sell about anything online. That end skill and goal is a worthy one indeed.

Remember, there are other steps you must make before you step into Internet Marketing but if you don’t first find the right company products and services to be passionate about, all of those other steps may just cause you a lot of frustration instead of bringing you great success.

Not being Passionate about a company and products and services that has market proof that it will sell is a pitfall you simply must avoid.

After all, up-selling is a technique employed by leading e-commerce sites to boost their sales and though you may be some light years away from them, this could be used by you effectively too. And though this is a technique, there is not a lot different from up-selling and selling by themselves!

There are many ways you could up-sell a product, but before we get into knowing the easiest method, know that an up-sell is a product you wish to sell immediately after he has bought the first one. Needless to say, the second product or the product to be up-sold has to be related to the first product bought by the customer.

To the point – The easiest method to up-sell is to work on the ‘checkout’ page!

What you can do with the Checkout Page?

I’m not asking you to redesign the entire webpage. Follow this process to uncover the easiest method to up-sell.

First, identify your webpage which you want to include the upsell. It could be your product page, salesletter page, your newsletter subscription page, your thank you page and so on.

Then just add an option for them to include MORE products before they ‘checkout’.

So if it’s a newsletter subscription page, ask them if they want to include a free trial offer to your other paid product before they click “Register” on your newsletter page.

If your page is a salesletter webpage, give them an option to include another of your product before they click the “Order Now” button.

Here’s another example – if your webpage is a shopping cart, you can always ‘upsell’ your prospects for them to add more quantity of the product that they’re buying.

The list goes on.

Here are some things you would like to watch out for while up-selling:

- The product you up-sell needs to be somewhat related to the product the customer bought. The closer the correlation, the better it is for you because you’ll get more sales.

- Write your up-selling ad as carefully and diligently as you would have designed your sales ad. Just the fact that the customer bought one product from you doesn’t mean he is sure to buy another!

- Up-sell but don’t push – Pushing is bad for any form of selling and the same applies in up-selling too. Inform the customer about your product and leave the choice to him. Also, bear in mind that you’re adding more value to your customer by offering greater solutions to them in your upsell products.

The method to up-sell your product is not as tough as you would have thought it to be. Basically, if you’re not integrating any upsell in your sales funnel, you’re literally losing money.

It’ll cost you more time, effort and money to acquire a new customer compare to selling to an existing customer who already trust you and like your product.

Although the technicalities surrounding the deal make it a slightly tough nut to crack, but I can tell you that it’s worth your time to explore this powerful marketing strategy.

Meeting with Patric Chan… the brain behind 1ClickUpgrade

Still remember how I send the first issue of my email newsletter on July 1st 1996, how I registered Add2it.com in March 2000, how I worked the last day in a full-time job as a hardware & software computer support guy on November 30th 2001, how I registered my business as a sole trader on April 1st 2002, how I moved with my family to Australia in January 2005, how I met the first time Aurelius Tjin (more on him later) in person in March 2006 after an offline seminar and how I registered on October 1st 2008 Add2it.com Marketing Pty Ltd.

Wow… covered 12 years in one paragraph.

A little before that, on October 26th 2007, my business partner Colin Klinkert and I launched our very first joint project… ViralURL.com

The site grew awesome… we even reach an Alexa rank of around 5,000 at one point and have now, less then 2 years later still a traffic rank of 10,682 (at the time of writing this).

The advantage of partnering up with Colin was of course that we could both compliment our strength & weaknesses and share the work load and time needed to setup a mammoth project like ViralURL.com.

But still, with a successful site like that… the amount of “daily grind-work” grew more and more, to the point where it seriously hindered the business growth. There was no time left to improve the sites I had, launch new sites or spend a serious amount on marketing tasks.

On March 27th 2008 I finally hired my first full-time Virtual Assistant, Marie…

It was actually Aurelius Tjin, a good friend and also fellow Internet Marketer, that helped me find Marie. He had already one Virtual Assistant himself and pointed me in the right direction.

After a week of training Marie I could see my work load drop and I was able to work on business growth again. Over the next few month I mainly concentrated on adding many additional cool features to our ViralURL.com site and growing it’s membership base every single day.

Then on March 19th 2009 the next site was launched together with another business partner of mine, Sal Vannutini… RapidFireBlogTraffic.com and just a few days later, on April 1st 2009, Colin and I announced on our ViralURLs.com blog our next joint project… ViralFollowers.com

It was again time to get more help on board and so I hired end of April 2009 my second full-time Virtual Assistant, Julie…

All the first level support was now taken care of most of the time with Marie & Julie working an two shifts, covering together 6 days a week. But second level support was still done by myself only and so was the daily dealing with the payment processors.

Colin & I still had at that point many more project ideas in mind that just waited for the implementation. Also I myself had many improvement ideas for my existing Add2it.com Marketing Pty Ltd business.

To be able to grow faster and move all these projects ahead faster, I hired middle of May 2009 my first full-time programmer, Michael…

This time I didn’t go the same way about finding him as I did with Marie & Julie, but instead posted a job description at GetAFreelancer.com. It wasn’t as smooth of a process then with Marie & Julie, but in the end we worked everything out.

On May 28th 2009 Colin and I launched our next site, a new tool for ViralURL.com members, called ViralPlugin.com and then, end of June 2009, Aurelius Tjin & I launched after less then a weeks work, using each of our unique strengths & overcoming our weaknesses, something to make the live of many other Internet Marketeers “one-man bands” a lot easier… TimeToOutsource.com

And yes, those Virtual Assistants that are are provided through TimeToOutsource.com are in the same office as Marie, Julie & Aurelius his own Virtual Assistant are.

On August 21st 2009 Colin and I then pre-launched our latest and like ViralURL.com, huge project… ViralHosts.com

And finally… on September 1st 2009, the last step of the conversion process from the former “one-man band” was done… Aurelius Tjin became the C.O.O. (Chief of operations) for Add2it.com Marketing Pty Ltd. But I better let Aurelius explain that on his Unstoppable Internet Marketing Blog post.
