Hey guys! Wearing Denim on Denim this beautiful day in Paris (last week). This combination never fails. A classic that can be worn so many different ways and with so many different styles and somehow always in fashion. If I could of added heels I would have, but that is pretty impossible when you are walking from one end of paris to the other. This photo is from Paris (sorry for being behind in the blogging!) I am currently sitting at a cafe in florence, located in the middle of a beautiful plaza with lounge music in the background. Sipping some wine while listening to the fluent italian all around me (not understanding what the hell they are saying..but it's beautiful non the less). France is amazing and of course they have a certain flair but… I have found a new love for Italy and their simple sharp confident style since arriving here. And of course, it's all intoxicating in the most beautiful way.
Hola chicas! Usando mesclia sobre mesclia en este dia. Esta combinación nunca falla! Es una combinación que se puede usar de muchos estilos diferentes y siempre esta a la moda. Me gustaría usar esto con tacones pero estaba caminando por toda la ciudad de Paris y era prácticamente imposible usar tacón. Por el momento estoy en Florencia, escribiendo desde un cafe al centro de una plaza, escuchando música, a la gente hablando italiana y tomando una copa de vino. Los franceses tienen un estilo increíble, claro pero me estoy encontrando muy enamorado con el estilo italiano. Sencillo pero fuerte.

BEAUTY: best all natural products

They say you are what you eat. So of course this means we're also what we put on our skin since everything seeps into our pores and into our bloodstreams. I love to use natural kitchen products because its healthier, works better (no joke), last longer and and is always cheaper than store bought brand products. Coconut oil works great to keep your hair healthy, moisturized and to fight frizz! I have tried so many at home masks and deep conditioners but I promise nothing has worked like this. My hair hair been growing a lot healthier (possibly also faster) ever since I started to use it. Leave it in your hair for an hour or as you sleep at night. I use this once a week over night and wash it out the next day (dont forget to put a towel over your pillow). It also works as a great face and body moisturizer! The other product I love to use is grape seed oil which is an amazing eye makeup remover. I always have problems where makeup removers dry out the skin under my eye but this keeps it moisturized without using any chemicals. It has loads of vitamin e which is always good and I have noticed that the little grease dots that I normally see under my eyes have suddenly diminished. Why the hell are we spending so much on beauty products that contain chemicals, don't leave good results and end up getting used up too quickly?

Sometimes it's so easy get caught up in trends and current fashion that your personal take on style might be compromised. I know this happens to me every once in a while especially after flipping through magazines and other blogs and seeing whats "in". I have to sometimes remind myself to simply go with my gut and wear what feels good and not think about anything else. The best looks are always the ones that are pure instinct and show your personality. This somewhat imperfect look may not the best but it's all "me". I piled over the knee chunky socks over almost see thru tights, along with a slip which belonged to a vintage dress I had hidden away in my closet, kept warm with this slouchy leopard cardi and headed out the door to meet my favorite part of london. The weather was a bit chilly and being from Cali, it really reminded me of the beginning of fall even though everyone kept saying it was summer time in London!
Aveces es tan facil perderte entre las tendencias y la moda que tu estilo personal se podría ver afectado. Esto me pasa de ves en cuando…especialmente cuando veo revistas y blogs y estoy viendo lo que esta de moda. Aveces tengo que recordarme a mi misma que siga mi intuición y ponerme lo que me sienta bien y no pensar en otra cosa. Los mejores atuendos siempre son aquellos que son de instinto puro y que muestran tu personalidad. Este look medio imperfecto no será lo mejor pero soy yo. Me puse unos calcetines a la rodilla sobre medias semi transparentes, junto con un slip que le pertenecía a un vestido vintage que tenia escondido en mi closet, y me mantuve caliente con este cardigan de leopardo. Después salí a conocer mi parte favorita de Londres. El clima estaba un poco frío y siendo de california, me recordó al principio de otoño aunque todos en Londres decían que era tiempo de verano.

Hanging out around Washington Square Park, only a couple blocks away from where I was staying last week. I will be leaving to Paris tomorrow! I'm so excited right now I can't even describe. A week of walking around Le Marais, sipping wine at cafes and reminiscing the days when I was once 17, naive and living in Paris. It's been years since I lived there and I really can not believe it's taken me this long to go back. Possibly the most amazing magical time I have ever lived in my short young adult life. New York might be a bit of a crazy experience but if you look close enough you find beautiful peaceful places in the midst of all that choas. Locations filled with flowers, people enjoying a bit of silence while reading books, and even secret treehouses open to the public (like in this garden). I really wanted to take some photos in the treehouse but a more experienced non rookie knew better and closed off his spot on the porch of the treehouse way before I even got there. Non the less, got to enjoy the beautiful peace the locals maintain within the garden and spend some time with my friend. Loved knowing there is a green friendly part to NY.
Nueva York, para mi gusto, es un poco Caótico... Pero, dentro de una ciudad con tanto caos puedes encontrar lugares de paz y tranquilidad espectaculares. Lugares donde puedes encontrar calma, estar con la naturaleza y tal vez sentarte y gozar de un buen libro. Mi amiga encontro este jardin con una casa de arbol divino. Mi intencion era subir y tomar unas fotos dentro de la casita pero alguien me gano la idea. De todos modos pude disfrutar de un poco de tranquilidad antes de regresar al ruido de la ciudad y pase tiempo ahi con mi amiga.

Hey guys! I am writing to you from London. I had a pretty amazing trip from NY to UK and was greeted by beautiful weather. I had a sightseeing/ hanging out with friends/laying in the park ejoying the hot sun/ending with a BBQ/ after hours house party non stop no sleep kinda day. Woah... there's a nice run on sentence for you. After finally sleeping 12 hours from this morning until 3 in the afternoon. I am feeling good and getting ready to see what the nightlife is like in Shoreditch (where I am staying and an apparently very trendy part of town). The people here are born with style (for the most part anyway) and its been fun seeing the way some of these Brits throw things together. Currently feeling extremely inspired... thank you London! Anyway, this outfit is from New York. Hanging out in my friends fire escape and wearing clothes straight from my suitcase. Wrinkled and everything. I threw a sweater on before going out so in reality the wrinkled effect wasn't much of a problem. These boots have been my best friends on this trip. Probably the best traveling boots ever.
Hola chicas! Estoy escribiendo desde Londres. Ayer tuve un viaje de NY a Londres muy tranquilo. Llegue a encontrar Londres con buen clima y pase el dia como turista conociendo la ciudad. Tambien pase el tiempo con amigos, fui en un BBQ por la tarde, pase por una fiesta en casa y no dormi hasta muy tarde! Hoy finalmente dormi 12 horas y no desperte hasta las 3 de la tarde. La gente aqui tienen mucho estilo y me encanta ver como se visten! Me estoy sintiendo muy inspirada aqui...gracias Londres! Estas fotos son de Nueva York donde estoy en las escaleras de la salida de emergencia del edificio. La ropa esta arugada porque lo saque de mi maleta y no tuve tiempo de plancharlo. Termine poniendome un sueter encima de todo para esconderlo un poco. Estas botas han sido mis mejores amigos durante mi viaje! Creo que son las mejores botas para viajar.

I love big over sized tops. You can wear it in so many ways.. half tucked into shorts/skirts, layered under jackets (slightly peaking out from underneath), as a dress, tied to one side (so it gives an assymetric feel) or one of my favorites: with a bralet over it Clueless style. H&M is great for these kinds of fit!. I went shopping at the store in Soho yesterday and re-stocked up my oversized collection. I'm still a bit jet lagged so just barely getting out of bed (11 am in NY... ), and it feels great to be a lazy bum. Heading to the vintage shops in Brooklyn this afternoon. so I'm excited! Hey guys! I'm finally back in Manhattan. Taking a lovely week in the city staying with Melissa who took these amazing photos of me. The day was so warm I was able to wear shorts and this white blazer to shield from the wind. I am so happy that I found this blazer at Zara and snatched it up. Just the right length to wear with a short skirt or shorts a la Risky Business circa '83. Love this sexy yet sophisticated twist. Wore it with a casual bun and low boots comfy enough to walk around the eternal blocks in this city. On our walk, we spotted these gorgeous trees and flowers on Bleecker street. Love spring time in the city!

A bit preppier than I'm used to for everyday but it felt great for the warm weather we experienced on this particular weekend.I think I really would prefer this skirt and top with some rugged cut out black boots to roughen it up a bit for a casual everyday look but these Missoni pumps were screaming out my name! Currently in New York and will be here for a week. It's my first time visiting with friends (way different than having to do work, school or be with family while in the city) so I'm excited to be here in a new light. On my agenda: scope out good vintage stores. Any recommendations?! Please let me know! xx

How to: Shoot street style photography

If you were to take a stroll down memory lane and look at my photographs from three years ago you would notice a huge difference in my photos. I've really worked on improving the quality of the photographs since then and I've learned lighting really is everything. Here's a couple pointers that I have picked up along the way (from reading basic online tutorials, studying other blogs I admire, and playing around with my camera). They are simple really but knowing little tips like these (and getting to know your camera.. ehem...read. that. manual!) really helps make a difference in your photographs.
Si vemos mis fotos desde hace tres años podemos notar una gran diferencia de mis fotos de hoy en dia. Despues de leer consejos en internet, estudiar otros blogs y aprender como usar mi camara... finalmente entiendo que tengo que hacer para poder capturar una buena foto. Aqui les dejo unos tips que les ayudaran mejorar sus fotografias.

Never underestimate the power of "magic hour". The time frame between one hour before and one hour after sunrise or sunset is the best time of the day to shoot. So magical people refer to it as "magic hour". Since the sun is low on the horizon there are less harsh shadows and you get a beautiful diffused light that helps make the photo look somewhat dreamy and ethereal. It's also a lot easier to capture the detail of the clothing. This photograph above was taken right after sunset and we managed to get a beautiful capture of the clouds and lighting of the sky as well.
Nunca subestimes el poder de la hora magica. Es la mejor hora del dia para tomar fotos. Entre una hora antes que salga el sol y una hora después. Como el sol esta cerca del horizonte las sombras son mas tenues y obtienes una luz mas suave. Es mas facil capturar el detalle de la ropa tambien. Esta foto de arribe se tomo despues del atardecer y logramos caputrar bien las nubes y la luz del cielo.

Find a nicely shaded area. Trying to get rid of those harsh shadows from the 12 oclock sun? Maybe find a street with high buildings blocking the sun or under a big tree. I find that everything looks much nicer and evened out! We took this photograph in the middle of the day and had to find some shade to even out the light. Notice how beautifully even it all looks! If you see one block behind me you can catch a glimpse of the harsh sunlight.
Encuentra una area en sombra. Estas tratando de eliminar esas sombras del sol a medio día? Trata de encontrar una clle con edificios altos que cubran el sol o debajo de un arbol grande. Tomamos esta foto a medio dia y tubimos que encontrar una sombra para difuminar la luz. Ve que tan parejo se ve todo. si te fijas atras de mi , se puede ver la luz fuerte del sol.

If you can't find shade or shoot during magic hour, try finding other options like a big white wall or bright white sidewalk which will naturally reflect the sun off of it and onto your outfit filling in the harsh shadows on your face and clothing. This photo was taken around three in the afternoon and the sun was extremely strong and direct! We found a big white wall and my boyfriend had me stand parallel to it. This post ended up beautifully lit! You can try simply standing infront of the wall or turn your flash so it is facing the wall and bouncing onto the subject.

Si no puedes encontrar una sombra o tomar fotos en la hora magica, trata de encontrar una pared blanca o alguna superficie reflectante para que se refleje el sol y te rellene las sombras en tu ropa y tu cara. Esta foto de arriba se tomo alrededor de las 2-3 de la tarde donde el sol estaba muy fuerte y directo. Buscamos una pared para poder manipular la luz. Esto lo puedes intentar estando parada enfrente de una pared blanca o volteando tu flash para que rebote la luz del flash hacia la pared y a tu sujeto.

Make your outfit be the center of attention. Make sure the background doesn't compete with the outfit. If you are wearing a plain black and white look try to stand in front of pretty colorful flowers which will contrast nicely with the outfit or a bright red brick wall. If you are wearing bright colors (like my colorful striped top above) find a neutral background so that it pops out and draws the eye the the clothing. I like to shoot in the middle of the street because it gives a nice depth of field which creates a slightly blurry background and makes the outfit the center of attention (like in the photo in step 2).

Has que tu atuendo se el centro de atención. asegura que el fondo no compita con tu vestido. Si estas usando negro y blanco trata de ponerte enfrente de unas flores o algo colorido para hacer contraste. Si estas usando colores brillantes (como en la foto de arriba) encuentra un fondo neutral para que resaltes y la atencion se valla al atuendo. A mi me gusta tomar fotos en medio de la calle porque produce buena profundidad de campo (lo cual crea un fondo ligeramente borroso y hace que tu ropa sea el centro del atencion com), como en la foto del paso 2.

Neapolitan

Made a typical black and white outfit more interesting by adding a bright neon bra which resulted in a color scheme reminiscent of neapolitan ice cream. It's crazy how one simple detail can pull an outfit together. Adding in brights here and there is the best way to transition into spring/summer so this neon pink bra from LF seemed like the perfect fit. This tank top is actually a hi-low tank with a long tail (which you can see in my post here ) so I had to tuck it, hence the slight bunches you can see from the back. As for this Helmut Lang skirt... I decided it was a great staple to add to my closet. I love how unique and flattering the shape is! I will be leaving to Europe soon and this item will be the first thing I pack. I couldn't imagine a better traveling skirt that can be easily transitioned from day to night and worn with many different looks. I'm so excited to share my future trip with you! Feeling a bit inspired with all the festival looks lately. This beautiful vintage halter backless bodysuit with high waisted shorts seemed oddly appropriate for a normal day spent in Beverly Hills and not at Coachella. Thats ok though, I just got found out Paul McCartney will be at Outside lands so all is well in this world.

Been in search of the right double slit black maxi skirt for a while. The perfect staple for my life because I find maxi skirts very versatile and easy to wear to different occasions. Casual with a white tee and rugged boots, trendy with a crop top and maybe a statement belt, dressy with heels nice top and bag or boho like in this outfit with a floppy hat and oversized bag. I had seen this For Love & Lemons Heaven sent skirt but didn't want to spend that much on something I knew I could find cheaper. Then I finally saw this Nastygal one for less than half the price. The slightly see thru panels that go down both thighs also makes it unique.

Who said jogging pants were only for running? I find it funny when my boyfriend says he doesn't get or understand the "sporty chic" trend because whenever I wear it he says he loves how I look. Interesting... I am all about the dressed up jogging pants. All I know is that I feel comfortably laid back and stylish at the same time so whats not to love? Find the right ones and you can use them with everything. I just love the fabric of these Georgie pants from Intermix and the low rise cut. Update! So, I don't know how I wore these pants out because they are HUGE on me. I had to wear the biggest platform shoes I own but I am in love. The wide leg pant is always flattering and classic. The moment I saw these BCBG neon pants (and in this mesmerizing lime color? the color looks slightly off in the photos) I was summoned. Thank you BCBG for coming back into my life! It's been too long. don't know if this was supposed to be high waisted.. but my legs are in no way long enough for these so thats how it worked out. Paired it with a plain white crop top to even out the loud pants and an orange Tory Burch for contrast. I went to Los Angeles this weekend and got to check out the new Celine store then had lunch at Urth Cafe. I kinda miss living here. But.. I really don't miss at all the crazy stressed out people that yell at you for everything. Im cool on that.

Currently working on another "How-To" posts reminiscent of my "how to edit your own photos" post I did back in January. Funny how whenever I am feeling extra non-chalant these outfits always seem to be my favorites. Love how the silk snakeskin top when paired with the $10 faux leather pants and belt gives a slight rocker vibe which contrasts perfectly against this casual chunky mens sweater. The sweater being my boyfriends which I love to wear when I am not with him. Mostly because It makes me feel right at home. :) OK, it's official. I am pooped! Over and Out. xx

Hey guys! Good news.. I have extended my "What about Yves" Giveaway for another week! It was supposed to end yesterday but I don't have time to count up the votes at the moment so, I decided to let a couple more of you enter until I have a minute to tally it up. Some photos a friend took of me in Pacific Beach before heading into the restaurant right next to the pier, Tower 23. They make a pretty mean pomegranate mojito there and it's great if you make it during the sunset. A last minute plan that wasn't factored one bit into my decision of wearing this ensemble but enjoyed non the less feeling like a little girl in loose comfy overalls. I saw this beautiful editorial in Jalouse Magazine from two months ago where this girl was wearing a jumper just like this one with big platforms and a big round sunnies. As soon as I saw this dungaree styled jumper hanging in Zara I thought of this editorial and wanted to re-create it. Of course, no one does it like the french do.

I Managed to think of taking this photo quickly before I downed this liquid goodness down into my belly sometime last week. For about one large Jamba Juice sized cup: One banana, a hand full of spinach, 1 apple, 1 pear, 2 celary sticks, handful of romaine lettuce leaves, half a lime, about a cup of pineapple juice (or just cut up some pineapple). Add ice and water. You can also substitute with coconut water, kale, carrots. Uber fresh and the right amount of sweet and promise its not gross at all. I love a good Jamba Juice or Robeks now and then but nothing compares to home made goodness!
Tome esta foto la semana pasada antes de tomarme mi licuado. Un platano, 1 puñalada de espinaca, 1 manzana, 1 pera, 2 pedazos de apio, 1 puñalada lechuga romaine, medio limon, un vaso de jugo de piña, hielo y agua. Tambien puedes usar agua de coco, kale o zanahoria. Esta riquisimo! Me encantan Jamba Juice y Robeks pero nada compara con algo hecho en casa.
