Maybe with my new iron sword, I can keep exploring at dark. I had a little bit of iron left, but not enough for anything else. I think I'll craft an iron pickaxe if I find any more. I've went through one stone one already, and I'm on my second one now. I decided to go out and cut some trees today so I would have enough wood for torches. I made my torches by combining coal and a stick together. They last quite some time! But I think I'm going to stock up on food before I go any deeper as well. But instead of going outside to possibly be killed by a creature of the night, I decided to mine even deeper into my cave. I mined out quite a bit of stone, a few pieces of coal, some iron ore, and I also opened up a cave system. I covered the entrance with stone because I haven't created enough torches yet, but I'll open it back up and explore soon enough. After I dropped off my bounty and put the iron ore in the furnace, I decided to go outside; bringing a sword this time. Thankfully, I didn't see any monsters. All I saw were two cows,(One of which ran away after it saw me slaughter the other.) and a chicken. It was starting to get dark out, so I decided to call it a day before someone or something decided to drop by and murder me.

Day 10 - My first Near-Death Experience

Mother Nature greeted me well this morning! After eating some steak for breakfast, I decided to walk outside to hunt for some more wood; I'm almost out. Of all the things to happen, a skeleton popped out! It jumped down from the cliff above me; aflame, and it began firing arrows at me. I ran back to my house, grabbed my stone sword, and ran back outside to face it. I dodged an arrow on the way out, ran behind a tree, and planned my attack. I glanced it walking towards me, so I charged; dodging arrows on the way It finally clipped me with one at close range in the leg, but a few swings of my sword ended any hopes of slaying me that it may have had. The bow it used was burnt beyond use, so I simply took some of its bones and limped back to my shelter. Now I'm just sitting here and tending to my wound. I have to go looking for wood tomorrow. I'm almost out. The furnace feels good, the food tastes even better, but it's a wood-hog. I think I may switch it over to a coal-fired furnace, but I have to start a mine of some sorts for that.

Day 9 - Steak, Chicken, and Pork; Oh My!

I finally finished creating my furnace. I built it into the cave wall, and I cooked every piece of meat I had. (Except for the rotten zombie flesh. Cooked or not, that shit worries me.) Needless to say, today was a lazy day for me. I ate, and then dug deeper into my cave. May as well make it a little roomier, right? Nobody is around to complain, and I'm surely not trespassing on somebody's property. I managed to carve out some chairs, a cozier place to sleep, and a table. I also mined some coal on the way! Today I saw another zombie at about noon, but it was on fire and "died" before it even reached me. I'm guessing they can't be out in the daytime? Where do they come from at night then? I also saw a new kinda of monster. It was green, it had no arms, and it had the creepiest face I've ever seen. It must not be affected by the time of day, so I have to watch out for that one. I spent all of today looking over my shoulder. I cut down a couple trees, slaughtered a few cows, and I even saw a wild pig on the horizon. Eating the same food day after day is getting old fast. It really makes me wonder how happy those household pets really are...anyways, right now, I'm currently working on the furnace. I'm planning on making it able to provide light and heat, but also make it cook food and maybe a few other things. I cannot wait to have real, cooked food.

Day 7 - MONSTERS

It was still raining when I woke up this morning! So I was forced to stay inside; eating my raw poultry and beef when necessary, and start crafting that furnace that I mentioned in one of my earlier entries. It's coming alone very slowly, but I think I have the basic idea of how to do it in mind. But onward to the juicier details: THERE ARE FUCKING MONSTERS EVERYWHERE! After the rain stopped in about the middle of the day, I decided to go outside and explore. I brought my ax for chopping wood, a couple sharpened stones, some torches, and a few scraps of meat. I managed to find some brown mushrooms under a cliff, but then I looked up, and you will not believe what I saw. A zombie. Yes, you read right. It smelled rotten, it looked even more rotten, and it had the most blood-curdling groan I've ever heard. I was frozen, and the thought didn't process until I saw it running towards me. I grabbed my ax, and hit it about sever times before it finally died. It ended up biting my shoulder once, but I don't think I'm turning into a zombie, thank goodness. I sprinted back to my house because it was getting dark outside, and I just sat and thought for...I'm not even sure how long. I thought zombies weren't real? Those were the same eerie noises I've heard the past few nights coming from outside. I need to craft another weapon...an axe isn't a weapon for fast-moving targets. I think I'll craft a stone sword using what remaining time I have tonight.

Day 6 - I'm an Inventor!

It rained literally all day, so I spent today crafting me, not one, but two pickaxes! I made one, and then began remodeling the inside of my shelter. Contrary to popular belief, sleeping in an unmodified cave is not comfortable. The thing is, I could clearly see the pickaxe taking some damage. So I decided to craft a new, more efficient one. One with a wooden handle, but a sharpened stone blade. It seems to be much more efficient.
It's getting late, and I'm beginning to wonder what really does crawl around at night. Every night, I've heard blood-curdling moaning and screaming in the distance, and one night I was sure I heard bones rattling. That thought is for another day. And this day has been for crafting. I managed to carve an entire axe out of wood, using a few rocks. You can imagine how long that took me, but I have a feeling it will be worth it in the long run. I'm planning on testing it out on a few trees tomorrow. I'm not proud of what I've done, but I couldn't hold it in much longer. At about the middle of the day, I found a wild cow grazing next to a pond. Only seeing steaks, I grabbed the biggest rock that I could find, and bashed it. I just kept hitting it until it was dead, and then I claimed my winnings: sweet, sweet meat. I had no way to cook the meat, so I simply cut off some raw pieces and ate them. You may think it sounds disgusting, but after being lost and hungry like I was...you lose track of wrong and right. Of taste, of control, of everything you never think about in everyday life. I even forgot that I had a life before this. All that mattered was then and there, and I suppose that's still all that matters. Being lost and alone makes you think like this. But in other news, I've started to expand my shelter more. I made a door; hinges and all, that works properly, and I've completely covered the outside of the cave with wood. It makes a very good shelter, but I think I may extend it soon. Right now I'm working on crafting a short sword. A sharp object has to be better than a random blunt one in gathering food.

Day 2 - Accepted

Today I finally learned that I'm going to have to deal with not having my memories for a while. What matters is here and now; anything after, whatever it may be, can wait. For better or worse. But onward to the journal part.. I've been building up my shelter. It is now a little cave with a wooden wall. It has a hole just big enough for me to crawl out of it. With some of the noises I've been hearing at night, I need to work on building a door of some sort. I managed to create a nice little "workbench", so to speak, out of some of the local pine I've gathered. I'm slowly, but surely working on a door. I still haven't eaten anything, and the hunger is beginning to get to me...I think I may go hunting sometime tomorrow. I know I've seen some wild cows and pigs around, and I'm pretty sure I saw a chicken running around. I have no way to cook any meat I get...but that doesn't matter. I have a hunger, and food is what I need right now.

Day 1 - Lost, Forgotten, and Confused

These "Journal" things are supposed to start with an introduction, aren't they? I would love to create a journal like everyone else, but I seemed to have misplaced my memory. Yes, you read right: my memory is gone. I woke up this morning in the middle of the woods with nothing but the clothes on my back, and a pocket-sized book with a pencil. I climbed to the top of a nearby tree to find out where the hell I was at, but all I saw in the distance was more forests, a beach, and mountains. No sign of civilization for miles. That worried me because it was starting to get dark. I walked over to one of the mountains and found a nice little cave to hide in for the night. It wasn't too deep or roomy, but it'll do. I found some wood and made some torches for my cave today. I took some flint that I found, and lit them. Hopefully they'll last through the night. I also started building a wall of wood on the outside of my cave to hopefully keep out whatever is prowling around at night. I'm hungry...tomorrow I need to find food of some sort. I need resources.
