Turner Syndrome is a genetic disorder where a female is born with only one X chromosome, instead of two, leaving her with life-long medical issues and learning disabilities. This condition occurs one in 2,500 female births worldwide, but is more common among pregnancies that do not survive to full term. That is why Turner Syndrome Females are considered MIRACLES!

Prize Winners will be announced on February 15, 2020.

My TS related project is inspired by the TSA official color board:

I used Simple Rose Spray DIGI and painted with an assortment of aqua markers. The background was made with a handmade stencil made from CUTFILE Angel Doily Dallion 2019 and distress ink blending.

What impressed me with what I learned about girls Turner Syndrome is how resilient these little mighty girls are! Big things come in small packages!

Hi peeps! Wow ! It's been awhile! I have been slowly working away behind the scenes to get back into creating new goodies! I will probably be posting card ideas and other things to my Instagram and Facebook page. I am planning on refreshing and updating my blogs and store over the next few weeks. Once I get schooled on the creation of newsletters, I will probably migrate my subscribers to a newsletter instead of my blog feed. .... so you get only the important need to know stuff.. like fun new items and discounts! I made a CHRISTMAS card.. with DAHLIAS... why not!? LOL I inked the stencil with Distress Inks and brush applicators... make a lovely soft background. I added the pine branches with a rubberstamp and went over it with various fineliners.

Hi all!

Wow, almost a year has passed! What?! Don't ask... sigh. But slow and steady wins the race. Actually I am practicing the art of getting stuck in... show up and do something even if it doesn't feel like you are ever going to get there. Every little bit leads somewhere even if it looks like a failure you have gold because you have learned something from it. When you are rusty... everything seems to take 4ever! Like you have to relearn what came easy before. But I have faith, it will all come back and become more efficient. Anyway before I wax philosophical too much more LOL....

I have rediscovered Winsor & Newton Iridescent Medium... it adds a lovely glimmer to the flowers and I also sponged some medium through my Blossoms Stencil onto the printed paper... You can't see it in the photo but WOW! Sentiment is from Sparkle N Sprinkle - my Bearded Iris Set.

This one I sponge gold acrylic paint onto the paper with the same stencil.

You can even assemble \"wreaths" with the single violets. When I created the images I could only use my imagination on how they were going to work out as a border or wreath. I was so happy with the result when I could finally print, cut and assemble. :D Sentiment is from Sparkle N Sprinkle - my Happy Flowers Set.

I have more items in the works. I will be uploading my version of the pre-coloured Christmas Ornaments in a set, and some NEW THINGS!

The background was a very loose watercolour with a big mop brush. The blossoms and leaves were watercoloured as well. The butterfly and floral were given the stardust glitter treatment :)

Anyhoo... I made another cutting file set! ... and a mini tutorial!

Blossom Borders & DFT Butterfly CUTFILE SET:

I re-envisioned the Blossom & Three Leave Springs cutfiles into a border. The set includes all the cards, fronts and borders you see in the preview. The butterfly is derived from the Doodle Flower Trio sets:

Here is a card made using the diagonal border cardfront and the butterfly.

I added Ranger Diamond glitter to the butterfly and cut the base of the butterfly out of pink vellum. I experimented with watercolour dabs on the border front and then added diamond Stickles glue dabs. oooh GLITTER!...

Here is a mini tutorial on how to make and use a butterfly embossing plate :)

First THE EMBOSSING PLATE:

First this is the embossing plate. It is made out of 2-4 butterflies cut out of 110 lb cardstock. The cutting file is the SwallowTail CUTFILE. I glued each butterfly down onto a rectangle of cereal box board cut to fit in my cuttlebug. You brush matte or gel medium onto the board and glue the cardstock butterflies with brushed on matte medium... even layers of matte medium between each layer and on the very top. Let dry... a day or two! You want it to completely harden. The embossing plate shown above has seen many butterflies and just gets better and more distressed with age. When I make another one I will stick to only 2 layers of butterflies. A bit shallower emboss would probably be better.

Cut a base solid butterfly same size as the cut butterflies on your embossing plate. Colour with any medium. I love watercolors. This example I tried gouache.

Once dry, align the butterfly to the embossing plate.

RUN the plate and butterfly through your embossing/cutting machine. Use a sandwich of base plate/C plate + B plate/embossing plate + butterfly plate and butterfly face up + silicon embossing mat + another B plate/embossing plate. You might need a card stock shim. I did not. Also before I forget ( like I did with this example) ... lightly spray the backside of your butterfly with water to soften the paper a bit to avoid cracking. I got cracks but didn't care LOL!

This part is the most satisfying! Swipe a black inkpad over the butterfly. The raised areas will get inked. The look is very pretty and distressed. To get the look on my card, I had best striking results with Versafine and Ranger Archival Inks.

I have also had fun with distress inks... a nice subtle effect with that. I am going to try flowers and leaves next... this embossed inked look on watercoloured flowers and leaves... so pretty!

The sentiments on the 2 cards shown are from a new rubber stamp set coming out June 15 from Sparkle N Sprinkle! ;)

Over the next few days I will be posting various cards I have made using new products in the store.

Today I have some cards with a similar theme... I added butterflies to some hand watercoloured backgrounds.

I splooshed various watercolors to make a colourful background. I used the Rainbow Butterfly from Distressed Butterfly & Blossoms COL SET

I have a ton of inked and painted backgrounds from various playtimes LOL I have no certainty as to how I did the purple background but i think it was homemade distress ink & Mica sprays on glossy cardstock. The ACEO is a simple watercolour of purple flowers and sky. I added yellow Stickle glitter glue to the centers of the flowers. The Monarch Butterfly is from the outline version that I handcoloured and added a clear shimmer to the wings with Twinkling H2Os. The orange Monarch from the Monarch Butterfly COL SET will give the same look.

Next post I will show a neat technique using digitally cut butterflies! Have a great day!

Over the next few days I will be posting various cards I have made using new products in the store.

Today I want to share a neat technique. I laser printed the Distressed Butterfly onto transparency film :)

Tip: To aid in cutting out the butterflies, back the film with white copy paper, secure with masking or washi tape to help keep them together while you cut.

I dotted Diamond Stickles glitter glue and let dry. This first example, I dabbed on ( using a ranger distress tool and felt squares) red, yellow and blue alcohol inks. Then with a piece of felt wet with alcohol blending solution, I gently daubed to blend the colours. The ink concentrated around the glitter dots. I like the look.

For a smoother look, apply your alcohol inks THEN add the glitter. Either side of your print can be coloured or glue added with a laser print. Printed side up and coloured/glittered underneath will give a matte look to the outlines.

Here is another example with a laser printed butterfly, same techniques BUT using Bic Markit Markers, Sharpies or Alcohol Markers.

INKJET PRINTING:

You can use an inkjet printer if you have transparency film MADE FOR INKJET PRINTERS as this film has a special coating that grabs and holds the ink. If you do use inkjet, you would do your glitter and colouring on the opposite side of your printing to avoid smearing your print. oh.... and make sure you make the most out of your print out, I crammed as many butterflies as I could on this sheet before printing ;)

The cutout border above is a work in progress. I plan on adding a border CUTFILE set for this next week :)

umm before I begin... I must confess these projects got a bit out of hand. LOL I started to play with Diamond Rose from way back as a corner element. So I pulled it apart and converted it to a Simple Rose Spray. Boy did I have fun with it. I figured out a trick to WHITE emboss black printer ink! More about THAT in an upcoming post. I got playing and was coming up with all sorts of cardfront configurations. Because it is a bit more tricky to configure and angle digital stamps on cardfronts, I did it for you. :) I made sentiments while I was at it. I was going to leave it there and put it in the store but NO. I had to digitally paint it and make multiple pre-coloured versions which ballooned into multiple cardfront versions.... you get the picture! oh boy. It's a big wallop of files LOL. Have fun!

Hey all!

I had a customer have a problem with the discount code expiring. It seems the setup I have to now use to make discounts sets the expiry date one day earlier to what I set it at. I can't make rhyme nor reason of it. I am so sorry if this created any inconvenience for anybody.

I have extended the sale to SEPT 7th midnight EDT... which actually means I take the coupon down the next morning ( SEP 8) while I drink my coffee, so this kind of thing doesn't happen again :S

UPDATE and Tulip Trio Freebie

Hey all!

Just an update on the status of the store :) and dropping off an old freebie :D

I have been waiting for a third party selling service to be ready. It is finally working. I am currently editing EVERY SINGLE PRODUCT on the Fred She Store by hand and reuploading everything so I can offer instant downloads. I will be using Payhip and instant Buy Now buttons. They will handle the nasty EU VAT. Currently, I can't offer a shopping cart on the store or discount codes. I have heard from Payhip that it is coming ( cart discounts ). I was waiting for their shopping cart feature to be ready only to find out it won't work via my blog store BUT....

You can go here Fred She Said PAYHIP SITE and see all the products I have currently got loaded. At this site, you CAN use a shopping cart. Hopefully they will give me a way to organize products somewhere down the line... And gift certificates and total discounts.

I will continue to take email orders. I invoice manually and apply discounts I was always offering and gift certificates this way.

I was asked today about some tulip images I had. Doing some googling I have found out that the Operation Write Home freebie that I offered in 2010 "Tulip Trio" is no longer available. So, for posterity, I am plopping it here :)

UPDATE JAN 10th ( EMAIL ORDERS accepted from ALL COUNTRIES ).

I am sorry for the inconvenience. It has come to my attention that the new EU VAT rules will affect how even NON EU sellers can sell to EU buyers. We are required to collect VAT now for digital downloads and different VAT rates based on EU buyers country. Until I figure out the new laws and how this applies to Fred She Said Designs( location is CANADA) I am preventing online sales through the store until further notice.

~~IF YOU ARE A NON EU BUYER, you may email me your order using email you use for PAYPAL and you must have a registered mailing address that is not a EU country.~~ I AM NOW ACCEPTING EMAIL ORDERS FROM ALL COUNTRIES until further notice. I have had confirmation from UK authority that emailing attachments is VAT exempt but not digital downloads. Please copy/paste ( with price listed) into your email request and I will create a PayPal invoice for you ( within 24 hrs). You may also supply an alternate email for your files to be sent to ( eg. gmail is a good choice for large downloads) Please put ORDER REQUEST in the subject line and please specify what COUNTRY you are in ( for my records). Thank you for your understanding.
