Duane Heaton just left The Frederick Basket Company after spending a few hours helping me to perfect my gift basket shots. This is something I continually struggle with. My backgrounds are never as white as I’d like them to be, the perfect props, the lighting needs to be just so …. But tonight I believe I am one step closer to perfection thanks to Duane.

For those of you who don’t know Duane Heaton he is a very talented photographer here in Frederick, Maryland. He has done photo shoots for many companies including The Palms Hotel in Las Vegas and teaches numerous photography workshops and classes.

How did I get so lucky as to meet Duane? It was Sunday afternoon, the weather was nice and I was looking for a short outing to lift my spirits. What better place to explore then Penn Camera in Rockville. My husband & I had only been there once but when you are looking for a new addition for your camera it is the perfect spot! I noticed the large selection of backdrops in many beautiful colors and textures and didn’t know where to begin. Duane answered my many questions and the more we talked the more I was drawn to his creative nature. After a half hour or so, I asked if he would consider spending a few hours helping me perfect my pictures and to my delight he generously agreed! and the rest as they say is history.

Duane is going to be doing a photo shoot of The Frederick Basket Company in the very near future. Stay tuned for the pictures! I can hardly wait. They are going to be awesome!

Types of Octavia Tea

White Tea

Oolong Tea

More-oxidized oolong is closer in character to black tea with an amber-colored infusion and notes such as dark chocolate, fruit and roasted sugar. Oolong is said to reduce plaque in the arteries, lower cholesterol, boost metabolism and aid weight-loss.

Black Tea
The most widely known variety in the West, Black Tea comes from leaves that are oxidized, or fermented. Oxidation changes the leaf’s properties and accounts for the dark, rich colors and strong, brisk flavors characteristic of Black Tea. Classic teas like English Breakfast and Earl Grey fall within this category. Black Teas are especially rich in theaflavins and thearubigens (potent antioxidants) which have shown impressive cholesterol-lowering abilities and cardiovascular benefits.

10. Rarity – To put it simply – when does anyone buy a box of caramel chocolate truffle popcorn on its own? Where do they even sell things at that level of snack-fection? Has anyone perusing the munchie aisle of any local grocery or convenience store ever randomly stumble upon a box of marshmallows shaped like U.S. Presidents? Didn’t think so.

150 Gift Baskets for a Corporate Event … No Problem!!
Below are pictures of baskets we recently did onsite for Education Affiliates, a company coming into Baltimore, Maryland. This is the second year we have worked with Lindsay and Education Affiliates. We provided 150 gift baskets in their requested Mardi Gras theme. The basket consisted of a purple charger with a bottle of Fiore Blush of Bel Air wine with a custom corporate Mardi Gras logo, Macy’s Cheese Sticks, Mardi Gras Peanuts, East Shore Cajun Pretzels and a custom Chrissie Schubert Mardi Gras Crown Sugar Cookie. The basket was wrapped in yellow polka dot wrap with a coordinating bow in the purple, green and yellow Mardi Gras colors. To finish it off we hung an adorable sequined Mardi Gras mask. It was a huge hit!

I can’t believe it’s been almost a year since our last visit to The Renaissance Baltimore Harborplace Hotel! Last year at this time we were packing our cars with cases of wine, cheese and crackers, 175 bows and rolls and rolls of wrap!

It was a miserable snowy, icy morning and all the way to Baltimore we passed accident after accident. It was a complete miracle we made it there at all! LOL  It had been our intention to come home that evening after a day filled with making basket after basket, but  by 5:00 most of Baltimore had closed down and we there for the night!

I have to say the staff went out of their way to make our unexpected stay incredible. They gave us a beautiful room and made us feel right at home. In fact, I would be remiss not to add that throughout the entire day, a different staff member would peek their heads into our conference room just to inquire if we needed anything. (I think they also couldn’t believe that we were putting together 175 gift baskets in two days and they had to see the amazing site for themselves!!! LOL) Needless to say by 5:00 the following day we were exhausted but the baskets were finished!

Tomorrow we head off to the Renaissance Baltimore Harborplace Hotel to begin our adventure again. Follow this year’s adventure on facebook and twitter. We will be posting videos and pictures from the hotel.
