LOST FRIENDS

Slowly, as the day goes by, we tend to loose friends we never thought of loosing.
All human beings one way or the other have friends we talk to all the time. We even go to the extent of inviting them to our homes and sharing our bed with them. But due to some factors, we have all lost these friends. Have we wondered what some of these reasons are? Well, we loose friends due to a lot of reasons and some of the popular reasons are; What we might have done to them, our behaviors towards them, and how we treat them when we are around others. But among these reasons, sometimes our friends tend to leave us without giving reasons. What they do is, they begin to distance themselves as time goes by.

Have you ever asked yourself why this happens? Why we loose friends without offending them? Some of these reasons can be emotional factors, but the most important reason why this happens is "Our Social Status or Position". In the world today, we tend to loose a lot of friends because of our social standings or our status in the society. Either our friends gaining higher positions or we getting a higher social status or position in the society, school, or at the workplace. A survey I conducted among a group of people shows that 66.7% of the total population have friends whom they think are at a higher position than they are. 52.4% also have lost friends because they feel they are at a higher position. This shows how social status or position affects they way we loose our friends.

Lenrie Peters expressed this idea in his poem "Lost Friends" where he stated that due to ones position and power in life, he tends to forget about his old friends whom he struggled with. some of our friends in real sense feels that we are not of the same class with them due to the position we occupy, so they move away from us...............................
