The promo packages can be had as ski or city or special events or even a combination of the available ones. Canada has a well deserved reputation as a skiers' paradise. Names such as Mont Tremblant or Banff and Jasper certainly ring a bell for skiers. You cannot go wrong with the foodstuffs and ski opportunities anywhere in Canada from Quebec to the Laurentians to the distant Alberta and British Columbian mountain ranges.

Although a Canadian winter is best for skiing the adventure does not stop there. Canadians are avid ice hockey fans as evidenced by their own official pro team in Montreal and others in the city. Ice rinks of both indoor and outdoor types are present in the country including one in Ottawa that measures four miles.

Other nations now use the snowmobile which was invented in Quebec but it is in Canada that its popularity is at its highest. You will not lose your way as there are distinguishable trails created particularly for snow machines and there are also snowmobile clubs to sign up with. Have loads of fun snowshoeing as part of winter sports specials. Snowshoeing trails are opening up in a number of locations.

Fishermen pay no heed to frozen Canadian lakes or rivers in the name of their top sporting pastime. A bit of shelter plus a cavity dug in the ice is all that is necessary to get the fishing fun started. Quebec is home to a tiny village called La Perade where fisher folk haul off shacks to the ice and snare numerous tomcods.

Most of the lakes within Ontario and other provincial regions have wintertime fishing available plus the necessary gear. A ride on a toboggan represents another interesting diversion. Quite a number of places have the toboggans featuring manufactured chutes to take some of the speed off the ride. From the visual delights to the heart pounding drop down the sides of a cliff the huge slide ride in Quebec City is one that is truly unforgettable.

It is not unusual to find ski resorts holding off certain slopes for tobogganing. Dog and snowshoe races along with ice castle creations and delicious food and drinks all welcome the beginning of carnival festivities. Winter carnivals in Canada total hundreds and may be huge or tiny but the fun factor is the same.

The more appealing events include international tournaments that draw athletes from various parts of the globe. The public gets a chance to see the snowshoe classics plus the dog sled races in these festival outings. The biting cold does not prevent the most avid antique and artwork collectors from dropping by noted stores.

Most of the artwork and soapstone carvings people choose to take home with them are those crafted by Eskimos and Indians. For some cultural appreciation visitors have the symphony doing several concerts and the ballet company shows. Montreal has fine theaters in both English and French, there's opera in several cities and a group of musicians from Vancouver is another unique chamber ensemble that delights thousands.

The treasure packed museums of Ottawa, Toronto, Vancouver, Saint John and elsewhere are open all year. At night there is the lure of the luxurious clubs and hotels plus a bit of disco in the more interesting Canadian cities to keep crowds coming back for more.

Take a break from the unforgiving weather by hiding out in the below ground Montreal city. Miles of tunnels connect hotels, shops, restaurants, theaters and railways stations with office complexes, apartment towers and the quietest subway in the world, Le Metro. Toronto along with Winnipeg are examples of cities considering the subterranean development concept. Vacationers are happy just walking by the crisp snow.

Saskatchewan steaks plus Quebec French foodstuffs and British Columbia cuisine fight for the attention of the guest. All of this plus much more make Canada a great place to visit.

By: vmcmullen
http://www.articledashboard.com

Holiday Breaks In Barcelona

You can enjoy great deals for holiday packages in Barcelona but you should plan your weekend in Barcelona before you book . The literature, the posters, the adverts all point to faraway destinations covered in waving palm fronds. Sun, they seem to suggest, is only available when one spends a fortune travelling halfway around the world. Anyone who has ever been on Greek islands holidays already knows the lunacy of that suggestion for the rest of us, then, here’s a little run down of an idyll much closer to home.

The Greek islands have everything – including, at the moment, a rather wonderful habit of offering spectacular holidays at extremely reasonable prices. Sun, sand, sea, culture, ancient temples, glorious plant and wild life: everything that made the Aegean islands the cradle of romanticism, the place Shelley and Byron and all the great Romantic writers wanted to be in is still there in spades. Wonderful food, balmy nights, hot days (but not, unlike the tropics, swelteringly horrible and sticky) – there is nothing the heart desires that cannot be had in Greece and its surrounding islands.

Greek islands holidays can be done in one of two equally outstanding ways. One can either charter a yacht (this isn’t as expensive as its sounds) or hire a villa – or, if one wishes, one can combine the two, hiring a villa with access to a chartered and crewed yacht. All yacht charters are available either as bare boats (i.e. self crewed) or as crewed: if one wishes to hire a yacht bare one may well be asked to provide some proof of seamanship – a recognised license or qualification. To be honest, unless one is a seasoned sailor, the idea of Greek islands holidays on a bare boat is practically insane – why go to all that trouble when a whole professional crew is waiting to sail you around wherever you want to go, whenever you want to go there? Not forgetting, of course, that if someone else is in charge of the yacht then one is free to share a couple of bottles of retsina with one’s companion or, indeed, companions.

Villa hire is just as wonderful (which leads one to suppose that the ideal Greek island holiday would be to hire a villa with access to a yacht). Living for a couple of weeks in a Greek island villa allows one to step slowly back in time, wandering through explosions of fragrant plants in a genuine Mediterranean garden, relaxing for hours in a hammock under a cypress tree. Greek islands holidays, when they have a villa thrown in for good measure, are a positive study in the kind of indulgence tropical holidays often offer but so rarely deliver.

And all so close to home, too! With a Greek island holiday one can forget about 12 hour flights, interminable layovers and crushing jet lag. A couple of hours and one is there, in the bright blue Aegean Sea, ready to start the sensory adventure of a lifetime. Next time one of those posters for faraway lands crops up in your field of vision, stop and think for a minute. Wouldn’t it be better to take Greek islands holidays?

By: Nisos Charter
http://www.articledashboard.com

Danube Cruise... will make you feel overwhelmed

Vienna is one of the popular tourists’ spots in the world. It is a city of energy and development that has come a very long way from a feeling of despair.
The primary attraction and center for Byzantium life and Ottoman life in the past was the Hippodrome. Political dramas and chariot races took place here where the Byzantine emperor could have lost his throne from a riot that stemmed coming from these chariot races. For the passionate shopper, the center will certainly be the Grand Bazaar. It is geographically the centre of Istanbul and has also been the business center for many centuries. It has more than four thousand stores and lanes upon lanes of dining establishments, workshops and mosques to see. An additional shopper’s Mecca is the Kapali Carsi where traders are selling nearly anything from spices to carpets is plentiful.

One of several cities’ distinctive landmarks is the Aqueduct of Valens. It's a limestone structure which rises over the active lanes of the Ataturk Bulvari. While on the topic of constructions, fantastic attractions to visit when in Istanbul are the Aya Sofia, the Galata Bridge, the Galata Tower, and the Mihrimah Sultan Camii among others. Often known as the Hagia Sofia in Greek, the Aya Sofia is essentially the most popular monument in Istanbul. It had been built on the site of Byzantinum’s acropolis by Emperor Justinian.

The view from the Galata Bridge and the Galata Tower is a sight to check out especially at sunset.

The tower was created in 1348 and it is the tallest structure in Beyoglu. The Mihrimah Sultan Camii is one of the numerous mosques that Istanbul has. In honor of the Magnificent’s favorite daughter, this was created by Suleyman in 1560. It is well known for the stained-glass windows and big interior area. To be able to get educated about the background of Istanbul, one simply has to choose from the countless historic sites it is gifted with. There is the ruin of Anadolu Kavagi Kalesi that's a ancient castle constructed by the Byzantines which had 8 towers on its walls. A tour of the Dolmabahce Selamlik or the Topkapi Palace unwraps a world of insight on Istanbul.

Local weather: The temperature is perfect and it is the ideal time to visit to Istanbul during the months of April to May (spring) and September to October (autumn). At this time, the skies are clear and the temperatures are milder compared to summer and winter time. The majority of the art festivals and music occasions happen in spring and autumn and the Formula 1 Grand Prix occurs in June. From July to August while the days are extremely hot, lots of Istanbul’s head to the west and south and some businesses close during this particular time.

Transportation: Modes of transportation in Istanbul are ferries, sea buses, trams, metros, metro buses, buses and taxis. The most popular way to travel in Istanbul is by ferry and boat too. All you need to travel around is a smart ticket which is a chip which you can buy credit for some Turkish liras.

By: LetsFlyCheaper
http://www.articledashboard.com

Expedia takes you there!!! It is a multicultural city that used to be one of the greatest ports in the UK. With a population of nearly half a million, Bristol is the largest city in southwest England and it is full of surprises.
On offer for visitors and natives alike is the city’s history, architecture, theatres, museums and park land, festivals, carnivals, clubs, film and music, technology, business and financial services, even a balloon fiesta!
For all sorts of reasons like being the best city in the UK and Ireland according to the Academy of Urbanism and being the place where the world’s first chocolate bar was made - in the late 1720's by Joseph Fry (now Cadbury), Bristol had been voted one of the most popular places to live in Britain.

In Saxon times, Bristol developed where the Frome and Avon rivers meet. The name Bristol comes from Brycgstow (Old English), and means ‘the place at the bridge’. Notwithstanding the Clifton Suspension Bridge, it’s still a good description of Bristol because it is a bridge to experiences, careers, history and culture, the landscape and of course, the future.

Pirate Walk
Stretching over many centuries, the port of Bristol has a rich and colourful history.
Did you know that some of the most famous pirates were sons of Bristol? Better known as Blackbeard, Edward Teach was born near Bristol’s old harbour. Between 1717–1718 he terrorised the eastern coast of the American colonies and the West Indies as the notorious pirate Blackbeard. Teach was killed during a ferocious battle at sea on 22 November 1718.

Although born in Pembrokeshire in Wales, Bartholomew Roberts, another famous pirate sailed from Bristol on merchant ships. Better known as Black Bart, he was perhaps the most successful pirate during the Golden Age of Piracy (1650-1722). He is said to have plundered more than 470 ships in four years. He is quoted as having said, “A merry life and a short one shall be my motto.” And it was – he was only 40 years old when he died on the 10th of Feb. 1722.

To find out much more about the 17th and 18th century pirates and the part they played in the history of Bristol, take a guided tour – the Pirate Walk – around the harbour. A virtual walk is also available. For more information go to piratewalks.co.uk

The Floating Harbour
This year Bristol celebrates the 200th anniversary of the Floating Harbour. Two hundred years ago, to improve the port facilities, lock gates were installed on a tidal stretch of the River Avon thereby providing a tidal by-pass for the river in the centre of the city.

Today the Floating Harbour is a significant tourist attraction with the former warehouses and workshops converted into restaurants, bars and clubs, museums, galleries such as the Arnolfini, and floating exhibitions such as the SS Great Britain, the masterpiece of one of Bristol’s most famous sons Isambard Kingdom Brunel.

A replica of the Matthew, the ship in which John Cabot sailed to American in 1497 is also moored there. Also in the Floating Harbour area, Explore-At-Bristol, the hands-on, interactive science and technology centre is a must see for all ages.

By the way, the Floating Harbour is called that because, due to the lock gates, the harbour isn’t affected by the state of the tide and the water level in the river remains constant.

St Nicholas Market
What’s the best kept secret in Bristol? St Nicholas Market was established in 1743 for selling fruits and vegetables and is now a wonderful quirky collection of independent retailers and Bristol’s oldest and best loved market. The market, set beneath the spectacular glass roof, is only a short walk from central Bristol.

In the heart of the Old City, you’ll find wonderful Georgian architecture filled with fantastic stalls offering a wide variety of goods, including foods from all over the world and close to home as well.

The Glass Arcade at St Nicholas Markets has recently been restored to its former glory. Its quirky ambience is buzzing and vibrant but relaxed enough to entice you to browse its stalls which sell a unique selection of products. You can do a bit of people watching and stay to eat at one of the cafes.

Visit the 'Nails' Market, named after the four unique flat topped brass pillars still located on Corn Street. In past times when a transaction was agreed merchants would strike one of the Nails. That’s were the expression “to pay on the Nail” comes from.

History is everywhere in Bristol and it appears the first of the 'Nails' dates from the reign of Elizabeth I or James I. The dates of 1630, 1625 and 1631 are inscribed in the other Nails. Although the sacks of corn and wheat of the original market have been updated to clothing, photography and art work, hand crafted jewellery and pottery, come see the past and the present in this wonderful place.

Balloon Fiesta
The next Bristol International Balloon Fiesta will happen from the 12-15 of August 2010.
Don Cameron, of Cameron Balloons, created the first Bristol International Balloon Fiesta in 1979. The Balloon Fiesta is now a global hot air balloon event drawing balloonists and balloon lovers from all over the world. Last year there were over 130 balloons and half a million people showed up to watch and enjoy the balloons, the arena and aerial entertainment as well as all the stalls selling all sorts of things.

During the Fiesta, at 6 am and 6 pm when the balloons are launched en masse, the skies over Bristol come alive with colour. As one lady said of the event, “...seeing over 110 hot air balloons flying over Bristol in the early mornings and evenings, causes the commuter traffic to come to a standstill”.

As well as watching the balloons, you can join them by booking a flight with companies like Bailey Balloons. Some of their special balloon rides allow you to take pictures up close and personal to some of the most fantastic balloons in the world.

During the four days of the Fiesta, there are Night Glows and fireworks. Tethered balloons, usually around 30, light up the night sky. Choreographed sequences are set to music and the evening ends with a spectacular fireworks display. What a way to spend a weekend!

If all of that doesn’t get your heart racing, come to Bristol and check it out what else there is to see and do. While you’re there, be sure to look for the graffiti done by Banksy - dotted around the city.

By: Monika Nolte
http://www.articledashboard.com

Expedia takes you there!!! You can buy flights tickets as per your budget as rates have come down. When airlines were few in number and airports were few too, not all travel freaks could fly to distant destinations. It took years together to give shape to a nurtured dream of visiting an overseas exotic destination. Whether you want to go to Dubai or London or Abuja or any destination, you can book flights online from the comfort of your home or office. London flights tickets, Abuja flights rates, Dubai flights tickets are all available at discount prices; all you need to do is get an advance booking done. Current bookings may require you to pay as much as 50% or more. This is the reason why most vacationers plan ahead and book flights tickets and hotels several days ahead. The earlier you book, more are the discounts that you can avail.

Most people who travel for leisure love exploring newer places, newer people, newer cultures, and newer splendor. For example, if you are all geared up to visit Dubai, architectural brilliance and beaches will catch your attention. Thousands of travelers travel to Dubai from across the world everyday. And Dubai flights run from almost every major city or metropolis worldwide. And when it comes to London, uncountable travelers visit or stay temporarily for education, business, and leisure. Similar to Dubai flights there is no dearth of Dubai flights as well.

The planned city of Abuja, the capital of Nigeria, is more defined by a 400-meter monolith called the Aso Rock; this monolith is left by water erosion. Abuja is one of the wealthiest cities in the world. Plan your trip to Abuja and book Abuja flights in advance to discover the city’s splendor.

By: Bayo Tahri
http://www.articledashboard.com

Expedia takes you there!!! Venture down any one of the covered market streets, headed towards the north, and make sure to keep all your options open - best way to rouse your sixth sense. With luck you should emerge from the labyrinth at the most unexpected spot, with a couple of loots, completely healed of all your aliments and a heal-it-all medicinal potion to take back home.

If you survive the Djemaa el Fna test you may also want try some of the other well known attractions and also tantalize your taste buds with the rich Moroccan cuisine, and test to what extent you can stomach the spices.

The minaret of the Koutoubia Mosque dominates the Marrakech skyline, actually offers the best reference point for the lost traveller. The 12th century structure with its authentic Moroccan architectural design is best admired at close quarters. The ruins of the El Badi Palace, built in 1578 by the Midas of Marrakech showcase the glorious past. The ruins feature an original 12th-century marquetry minbar (pulpit) inlaid with silver and gold and also serves as a venue for the National Festival of Popular Arts.

A blend of European and African influences has created the unique culinary delight - the Moroccan food. All foods are flavoured by rich spices and herbs and the most popular and common dish is the granular semolina couscous. Generally served with rich stews or meats roasted till tender the couscous serves as a complete Moroccan indulgence. Travelling to exotic locations on a luxury ship, catching some sun and breathing in the sea breezes, can renew and revitalise anyone, no matter how weary you are from working.

Cruise travel is much more than just a way to get from one location to the next. It used to be that the only reason to get on board a ship, was to get from one destination to another. Today they are much more than just a means of transport. They offer much more than that.

In fact, today, the cruises that are available are designed just for you and others like you. With so many ships and destinations to choose from, you may actually have more difficulty choosing just one rather than finding any that fit your needs.

I have been on the Superstar Gemini. It was one of the best holidays that I have had. Once on the ship, you unpack and that is it until you return. You travel from country to country, with no worries about passports etc. It is very relaxing.

The ships have a multitude of activities to suit everyone but you don't have to do anything if that is what you want. While on the Gemini, I met people that had been on the ship 10 times before. They just stay on the ship now and don't get off to go ashore.

My ultimate cruise is to go on "The World". I would love to combine my love of cruising with my love of world travel and stopping off at all of the major places in the world to see. If anyone out there could arrange that, so that I could have a prominent section about it on my website, please let me know.

One of the best benefits of the cruises that are available today, is that many of them offer you the ability to find the right location and the right group of people to travel with.

Here are a few of the various cruise themes that you can find:

Families and children. In an effort to get more young families to travel on a cruise vacation, many of the childrens favorite theme parks and characters now sponsor cruises. You can find a wide range of Disney themed cruises as well as those for Nickelodeon and many others. Of course, many of the luxury liners also offer childrens specific activities, but when you are a young family, a themed childs vacation may be the ideal way to go.

Singles. Here is another option for those that are looking to get something out of their cruise. If you would love to take a cruise but do not have someone to go with, why not go alone? You may meet a soul mate on board or at least you can have lots of fun looking for them.

Seniors. For those that would rather leave the grand children at home, there are plenty of options for older people on a cruise. These are more laid back and much less child oriented cruises. They are designed for those that would like to try something new or visit another culture. You will find a wide range of choices in them.

There are many more cruise options for you. Consider any and all of them to find the one that fits your needs the best.

There are plenty of reasons why you should take a cruise. If you are like most people, you will enjoy getting away from it all. A cruise will allow you to do just that.

In fact, you do not have to worry about getting to all the places you want to visit in time. There is no rushing around. There are plenty of reasons to use cruise travel as your main way to spend your vacation.

Here are some reasons why you may want to consider this type of vacation:

It is affordable. There are plenty of deals happening each and every day, virtually all times of the year. You can find a wide range of discounts available in the off seasons, but there are plenty to go around any time of the year. Most of the time, you will spend less on a cruise than you will on a big vacation.

There is plenty to see. When you take a cruise, you can travel to a wide range of places around the world. You can experience a wide range of different cultures. There is also plenty for you to experience on the actual ship as well.

You can meet lots of new people. A cruise is a great place to meet a wide range of people. You do not even need to get off the ship to do so either. There are many people that are ready and waiting for you to meet them. You can meet people your own age or meet someone with the same interest.

You can do new things. On the ship and off, there are many things that you can do to enjoy the time that you have. You can learn to rock climb or go scuba diving. You can learn to water ski or go fishing in the ocean. There is no limit to the options that you have.

Cruise travel has many rewards to offer those that are looking for something a little more relaxed or something that is a bit different. Check out the various options that are available because not only can you do the things that you would like to do, but you can find a wide range of options to choose from to fit your needs and lifestyle.

If you are worried about what there is to do on your cruise ship, you may not have anything to worry about at all. Unlike your long flight on an airplane to your destination, you are going to find many things to do on your ship.

In fact, some say that the best part of their vacation is the ship itself and not the destination at all. One thing is for sure. If you book a great cruise, you will enjoy all the relaxation that you can get.

There are plenty of things to keep you busy on board the ship. If you are looking for something to do, consider the options that are available to you.

Here are just a few:

1. If you are traveling with children, this may be one of your biggest worries. Will the kids have something to do? First off, make sure that you book a cruise that is geared towards kids and families as this will allow for more to do in the long run. Nevertheless, there are plenty of options. Many of the cruises will offer all sorts of activities from games and swimming to learning adventures and lots of play time. Most have plenty of activities to keep the kids happy.

2. If you are into sports, there are plenty of options here as well. Your cruise may be ideal for swimming and working out as most of them feature a wide range of options. They generally have many things set up for you including a swimming pool, exercise room, games on deck, events and then when you get to your destination, you have more. You can often go snorkeling and deep sea diving. You can go water skiing and even consider going rock climbing. Look at what your cruise has to offer.

3. Entertainment is the key to a great cruise and you will find plenty of this available as well. If you are going to enjoy your cruise, make sure that the types of entertainment that you enjoy are there. This will include shows, musicals, comedy, movies and parties. Dining options are always amazing and include everything from casual dining to 5 star restaurants. I remember the captains dinner and all of the waiters coming out with the desserts on fire. Very spectacular!

Before booking your cruise, make sure the ship has what you are looking for.
There are plenty of cruise destinations out there. You can go to Mexico or South America. You can visit Asia or even Europe and Africa. The beautiful Pacific Islands. What about Alaska or the Antarctic.

The world is full of possibilities when it comes to a cruise.

You can go virtually any place that you would like to on a cruise. I highly recommend a cruise vacation. It is a very relaxing way to travel.

EXPEDIA takes you there!

For information on discounted cruises, visit:
http://www.world-travel-options.com/

Check this options:

Carnival Cruise: 4 Nt Baja Mexico from $174 per person on Orbitz! They are repositories of the romance and passion that is the history of this country. These special places literally exude the ancient perfume of Spain's majesty and mystery. These are places of great historical interest and rare beauty.

If the Paradores Chain did not exist, it would be imposible to dream of spending an evening in a building that has lodged kings, nobility and other personalities from Spanish history, or to sleep in the same bedrooms that were used by the grandes of the country.

The walls of these national monuments, throughout the years, have kept the secrets of the legends and actions that they have witnessed; a history that Paradores has had the ability to skilfully recall by converting them into quality hotels.

On the other hand, one must highlight the work in restoring these monuments that would otherwise be allowed to fall apart and today, be forgotten.

A hospital, a convent, a castle or a palace… they all are unique buildings that Paradores has managed to sabe and to restore and turn into special tourist establishments that are standard bearers of excellence in quality.
Ther are a perfect combination between comfortable surroundings and the magnificence of a unique building.

An example, The Parador Toledo is set on a remarkable site that has un matched views out over the city. The building was originally built by the Count of Toledo in the 14th century and is completely Toledan in character. The restaurant serves as a school for the chefs of the other paradors, and the meals are nothing short of spectacular. There is much to see in Toledo, so you'll stay here for two nights. And you can enjoy the city: Toledo - the Imperial city - the city of three cultures. For many, Toledo mesmerizes - it exudes a strangely powerful attraction - dark, claustrophobic and profound. It was the seat of the Spanish Inquisition, the home of the brilliantly disturbed El Greco, and the scene of both vicious and heroic events during the Spanish civil war.

Dignified Toledo is full of splendor and endless surprises for the traveler. It is architecturally and culturally fascinating like few other cities could be. To look at Toledo from afar, is to be beguiled and astonished.

Another example for visiting, is The Parador Avila… backs right up against those very walls. You can walk out the doors of the Parador, across to a nearby park, and up some ancient stone stairs to the top of these magnificent fortifications - truly a walk back into time. The Parador is a former 16th century palace with granite floors and large bright rooms. It has pleasant gardens, and the restaurant serves the delicious specialties of Castile in a large stone and wood dining room. All together - you are assured of a memorable stay.

Avila rests in stately slumber behind perfectly preserved medieval walls. It's almost as if time has passed her by, yet she waits patiently for today's new pilgrims - the intrepid tourists.

Avila is for walking. In this "city of knights and nuns," you'll walk in the very footsteps of Saint Teresa - past her own Convento de Santa Teresa - past Spain's oldest gothic cathedral - past numerous stately homes, medieval and renaissance palaces - and along the top of the muralla - the awe inspiring city wall.

But the chain of Paradores is big… here you are a full description of each Spanish Parador package:

The "Soul of Spain" Spanish Parador package is a once-in-a-lifetime odyssey through timeless, monumental cities - the World Heritage Cities.

These places are so unique they have been classified by UNESCO as repositories of the heritage of humanity.

The "Finest of Spain" Spanish Parador package takes you to the most excellent of Spain. Among some of the major canyons are the Urique, Sinforosa, Batopilas, Candameña, Huapoca and Septentrion, to mention just a few. During your stay, you can also visit various missions in the forests, see spectacular waterfalls and take in unbeatable views from the numerous lookouts.
