People Matter

For me, the choice to register as an organ donor at age 16 was a no-brainer, but I never would have thought I'd be on the receiving end first. Summer of 2018, I was diagnosed with Autoimmune Hepatitis at age 36. A few weeks later, I was told "liver transplant or die." By Fall, I was watching my life slip away, and I began shying away from everyone I loved. As Winter set in, I was saved by my donor hero and was transplanted on December 18, 2018. For a season that's commonly associated with darkness, because of a selfless soul, it will always be the brightest and most beautiful season of my life.
