I am still paying on a 2006 suzuki forenza. I have $8 k still. I want to see if it were possible to trade in my car in for an older model car like a 2000-2003 and lessen what I have to pay or it being a complete trade. Does that make sense? Like if I were to go to a used car lot and trade my car, which Im still paying for, and ask for an older model thats equal my equity and just have to pay the difference of what I owe on my loan…..does that work anywhere?

If you're upside down in your current loan, you don't have any equity. All you have is debt. Equity is the value of the vehicle above what you owe. Negative equity is the value of the vehicle being LESS than you owe. If you want to pay the negative equity out of your pocket, great. If you roll it into the new loan, you will be upside down again.

it is next to impossible to find a reliable car in your price range.

Cheap cars are cheap for a reason. If the car was reliable the seller wouldn't be selling it so cheap.

So I'm not going to lie, but I kind if want a good looking car, as well as something that has pretty good performance. I want it to be a 5 speed for sure, any ideas? I've been looking on craigslist with little luck. I will most likely just go look around at dealers.

The 4 cylinder 318 stock will smoke those cheap little hondas, and the 6 cylinder 325 has 189hp stock, u can find a decent one for $2000 and a really nice one for $3000, so u save all tht money or hook ur car up and show the kids on the block wats up!

My boyfriend and I seem to be in a loving committed relationship, in our 30s. I make a lot more money and frequently pick up the tab and give him gas money, something I've never experienced in a relationship but the behavior that bothers me is that he'll get food only for himself sometimes. Like last night he got off the freeway and pulled into a fast food place because I had to use the bathroom. I jumped out of the car went in alone and used the bathroom and told him how thoughtful it was he went out of his way when we were almost at our destination already. When I got out I saw he was right outside the bathroom waiting for me. I thought how lucky I was to have such a caring man who went through the trouble to park his car and come in so that he can walk me back to the car. As soon as we got in the car he said he was going back in to pick up the food he ordered. I thought how nice he even ordered food. He returned to the car and started eating his hamburger without having gotten anything for me then drove off. We were both hungry, spent the whole day together I had made him a breakfast burrito with my last tortilla and only had a cookie myself the whole day, thought we were going to go out to eat. There was another fast food place across the street as he drove by I asked he stop there because I too was hungry. I told him how thoughtless and selfish it was of him to only think of himself. He said I should have spoken up if I wanted something too and to give him a break he made a mistake. Do you think it's my fault for not speaking up, a mistake on his part or a personality flaw that is bad for a relationship and do you think it can be fixed if so how? I felt he only stopped so he could get food for himself and it had nothing to do with caring I had to use the bathroom. I feel it was selfish and inconsiderate. What do you think?

Do you think it's my fault for not speaking up? Definitely not. He would like you to blame yourself so that way he does not appear to be at fault.

As you spent the whole day together, he would have been aware that you would be as hungry as he realized he was. You thought you were on your way to get something to eat but he obviously had other plans and was not considering your previous plans or your wishes.

You were almost at your destination so he should have realized that both of you should eat something before arriving. Before you got out of the car, he should have asked if he should get something to eat for both of you or whether you still planned to go to your previously planned destination.

He might have gone in to order food for himself but when he went out to meet you he should have clued in and asked if you would like something to eat and if he could order something for you.

Do you think it was a mistake on his part or a personality flaw that is bad for a relationship? Definitely a personality flaw but it is your decision whether this is a deal breaker.

He did not consider your wants in his rush to meet his own needs. As this is not the first time he has done this, it signals a strong alarm. He is definitely selfish and might even be stingy. Selfish in that he considers only himself and stingy in that he thought you could go in and pay for whatever you want so he would not have to pay for it. You know if there are other warning signs in your relationship. Is it really as loving as you think it is?

Do you think it can be fixed and, if so, how? It can only be fixed if he wants to fix it and makes the effort to do so. You say that you make more money but give us no further explanation. Is he in a low-paying job because he is lazy and does not care to put in the effort to improve? In that case, he will not make the effort to be more considerate. Are you providing a free ride from him and he enjoys not having to work for the financial rewards because you are providing those for him? Take a step back and look at the equality of your relationship. Does he provide what is most important to you? No one is perfect and can you live with his faults?

I know this is the wrong section, but I'm looking for advice from people who have experienced complicated relationships.

I found out my bf cheated on me. But i still love him. He's from Alabama, and he went back for a week visit to see his friends about a month ago. I found msgs on his facebook (please keep in mind he snoops through my phone everyday & i let him. He has the pw to it) to his ex telling her he wants to see her while he is there, she was his first real love, he never stopped loving her, and he 'really misses her…..' he purposely pursued her.

His first reaction was I dont know what you are talking about, then i cant believe you went through my facebook, then 'we just went out as friends, i meant friend love', to 'i was lonely, but saying those things to her and spending time with her didnt give me the feelings i thought it would.'' He denies he had sex or kissed her etc, but when he came back from Alabama he didn't want to have sex for 2 straight weeks. (sign he slept with someone else). His story of how they came to 'hang out' didnt match what was on his Facebook. He said that she randomly called him to hangout and he thought 'why not'. So thats another lie. Also, I asked her for the truth and she said they went out on a date, talked all day, and he kissed her on the cheek but (nothing physical happened). I feel she covered for him, because when I asked him questions about what happened, he was still acting shady, like finding out what she had said to me before answering me. Plus, she called him right after telling me 'nothing happened' & he hung up as he saw me walking out to the car.

So I went with my gut instinct an immediately broke up with him! He was planning to move back to his parents house anyway, so I was like pack your sh*t and leave. He started coming clean, saying he was lonely and felt 'disconnected from me' (I stayed in contact with him the entire trip, he was the one ignoring me), yet he still denies physical cheating. He has been crying, pretty hysterically, for 2 day begging me to forgive him, she wasnt worth it, saying that he can't picture his life without me, he's so regretful and he realizes nothing compares to me. etc. I was pretty cold about it, and said well you should have thought of me when you were choosing her, and this is what happens and I turned away from him and started texting on my phone. So he punched a hole in my wall. He continued moving out, and cried a lot more, cuddling with me, talking about how he will miss this and that about me and he will do everything he can to keep me in his life. He asked if I would ever talk to him again and isaid no, and he broke down begging for me to at least let him help me out with things as a way to stay in my life. (my car broke down).

This all occurred over the space of 2 days and it wore me down. I started thinking, maybe he really is sorry and deserves a second chance. I still love him, but on the other hand, I keep thinking, if he really loves me as much as he says he does, it wouldn't have happened in the first place. I can't even think about anyone else. I don't want anyone else. I haven't been going on dates with ex's or telling them I love them or anything. I only have eyes for him. So I keep thinking, if I take him back does that just say to him that it's ok? That he can keep doing it, but just hide it better, and if I catch him again I'll still take him back? I keep thinking about the fact that he completely ignored me while he was in alabama. He fully consciously was making the decision to be with her.

I don't know what to do.

What do you mean you don't know what to do??? The big problem with advice to someone like you is this:: You ask for advice but you already know the answer but wish you didn't. You might take some inkling of what we tell you to do…..but you seem to have low self esteem and he draws on that. He uses that weakness in you to be physical and mean to you. Now if he was dead you would move on and either find someone else or live with your family. THAT is what you need to do.

You need to look at him as dead. So you can move on in life and live a normal existance. Otherwise …your doomed. But it's all your choice to make.!!

Me and my kids mom live together although we are not together in a relationship. In five years she has worked maybe 6 months. I have worked the whole time,and payed all the bills plus I do most of the child rearing. Her life mainly consists of reading books and playing online. I am deployed at the moment and I recently came home for leave. Of course nothing I asked to have taken care of was done. The fish tank was disgusting as was the bathroom and there was minimal last minute effort made in the kitchen.also while away,every request I made of her as usual was met with resistance. She has no job and she has her 3 uncles and grandma and two older nephews right next door to help her so she isn't alone . So while home on leave I bought a new car and put 5000 down on it. Mind you she has never worked for anything nice and doesn't get that concept. So now I am back overseas and the car is parked. Her teenage sisters are coming out for a month to stay at our house and baby momma has an older car with lots of miles. Soooooo, her uncle wanted to borrow my car and I at first said yes,but changed my mind because even if it is insured, if something happens then I am out of a car and the 5000 downpayment as well. Sure the car will get paid off,but I will lose my *** on the downpayment and still come home having to buy a car. Baby momma agreed with this logic. That is until I told her that the same applies to her driving the car on a road trip with her sister. If someone hits her,I lose the car and the downpayment and she has no way of reimbursing me since I pay for everything anyhow. She just didn't get it. She didn't understand why it is hypocritical of her to say that her uncle shouldn't take my car on a road trip ,but the same possibility of me losing the car and the downpayment doesn't apply to her. Am I being unreasonable here,or am I protecting my investment. Keep in mind that I bought a new car for me to have something I did t have to worry about fixing when I get home,and baby momma has her own car that I pay everything on already. It isn't nice,and I wouldn't take it out of state but it gets the job done locally just fine.

No you don't need to let her borrow the car. You do too much for her anyways. She's taking advantage of you and you lot her. So not letting her use the car is reasonable. Good luck!

What is the best time of year to buy a used car? When the new models come out, wouldn't that make all the used cars one year older, and then their listed prices would be reduced further?

The best time would be the second July of every year. In case you can't/don't understand the answer, there is no best time.
