I’ll make a disclaimer at the start that this post is linking to an irreverent article that made me laugh rather than anything deep! In Jon Acuff’s article “Developing a sixth sense to locate free food at church” he discusses the various ways you can get free food at churches. Free financial freedom resource for churches

Ed Stetzer has highlighted a superb free resource for churches. The SBC Executive Committee are providing free copies of Financial Freedom for churches. The series is aimed at helping members of the church be better stewards of their (God’s) money and finances.

It is a relatively comprehensive selection of resources, and they will post one to each Church that requests. It includes sermon videos, notes, power pint slides and bible study lessons. Here are the four broad topics covered:

Week One: God’s Ownership
Week Two: Debt’s Dangers
Week Three: Greed’s Antidote
Week Four: God’s Purpose - Money & Work

The instructions for getting the items are provided at Ed’s website.

Where can I find free resources on the Lord’s Supper?

The Church Matters website was recently asked for some resources on the Lord’s Supper, specifically around how it should be ‘done’ in churches with children. Obviously many churches have different outlooks but they provided a link to a pdf from a Sovereign Grace church plant that clearly shows their stance, things to think about, and ways to go about it.

If you are debating how is the most appropriate way to partake in the Lord’s Supper in church setting then this may be a useful read for you.

Shorten scripture URL links with ref.ly

Logos bible software have just produced a website called ref.ly that provides a URL shortening service for scriptures. This then links directly to the online logos bible. This may not be much use for many people but for anyone writing a Christian website it could be particularly useful.

What sets ref.ly apart from the crowd is that it works on a wide variety of different abbreviations which means it should be easy to use. Also of course it is a very short URL which makes it great for services like twitter or facebook. They provide an example of the various ways you could link to Matthew 11:25–26

‘Free’ is how the church leads online

One of the biggest ways the internet can benefit us a Christians is by sharing resources such as sermons, songs and books which can edify and build each other. Free book for fathers

With fathers day having been and gone Mars Hill are now providing a free book specifically aimed at fathers. I’ve not had a chance to read it all but my brief skimming suggests this would be a rewarding read for any father (or potential father!).

The chapter titles give a good summary of the topics covered:

Delayed posts and changes afoot

Hello,

I’m sorry posting has been a little slow recently. I’ve been having to work on my wife’s website which has taken some time.

Rest assured this is merely a one-off delay and I am still fully committed to free Christian resources. Over the coming month I am likely to cut back the posts to one every other day as I’m working on a new design for free Christian resources.

The current design is based on a free theme, but the new one is being completely hand written (by myself) to both be more functional, and more aesthetic. I’m really excited and hope it will ready in about a month.

If you own a copy you may be interested to know that New Harvest House now provides a companion study guide that you can download for free.
