How to Make a X-MEN movie poster in Photoshop

Today's tutorial we will show to make a X-MEN movie poster in Photoshop. Make this tutorial we will use custom wallpaper or movie poster. So let's have a look........

Start working by creating a new file (File>New) of 1600x1200px/72dpi. Then select the Paint Bucket Tool (G) to give black color to background layer.

Next try to find a picture with X-Men characters on it. I used this wallpaper:

Cut out the main characters on the front plan, introducing them on our basic picture.

Create a new layer then and choose a standard brush to give some nuance to our picture. The brush has#10F6FF color (Opacity 35%). This layer needs to be placed lower than the characters’ layer on the layers’ panel:

Create another new layer and continue here representing the background, applying the same brush mentioned above. This layer will be placed lower than the characters’ layer on the layers’ panel.

On the next new layer (Create new layer) we’ll apply a standard brush of white color to draw many dots of different sizes and different opacity. This layer will be placed lower than the layer containing the characters.

On the next new layer choose the standard brush and white color (Opacity of 30%) to represent a kind of luminescence around the X-Men characters. This layer will be situated lower than the layer containing the same characters.

Create a new layer and choose this time the Elliptical Marquee Tool (M) to mark out the next demonstrated zone. This layer will be placed lower than the characters’ layer.

The marked zone should be filled with the color #81F4FF.
The layer’s parameters: Opacity 60%.

Make a mouse click on the same layer on Add a Mask selection on the bottom part of the layers’ panel and select later the standard brush of black color (Opacity of 15%) to clean out the painted zone.

Make two copies of the last made layer and choose Free Transform option for changing the copies’ sizes, placing them the way it is demonstrated below (lower than the layer containing the X-Men characters)

Next we’ll represent a kind of circle, applying the Ellipse Tool (U) which layer should be situated lower than the layer with the characters.

Set the next shown parameters for the last made layer by clicking on this layer on the layers’ panel: Fill 0%,Blending Options>Stroke

Make a copy of this last made layer and select Free Transform option to place the copy the same way indicated below.

Create a new layer and choose here the standard brush of white color (Opacity of 70%) to represent a spot of light.

Choose on the same layer the Rectangular Marquee Tool (M) to mark out a half of the same spot and pressDelete button.

Choose next step the Free Transform option for the layer with cut spot and press the spot on its horizontal position, stretching it by the vertical position.

Turn it over and place it the same way as below. This layer should be placed lower than the layer containing the X-Men characters:

Set the next indicated parameters for the last made layer: Blending Options>Gradient Overlay

Gradient’s parameters:

Try to draw the same way several more rays, placing them the way demonstrated next picture. The layers don’t need the effects.

Now we’ll hide several parts of the poster on the bottom part of the picture. In this case we’ll select the Rectangle Tool (U).

The layer’s parameters: Fill 0%, Blending Options>Gradient Overlay

Equipment

Photographing water is a fun indoor activity that can occupy you for a lot of time. It is not very difficult, contrary to what some people believe, and even with a compact camera and integrated flash, handheld, you can get some good photographs. Soon you’ll want to explore further, though, and it is then that a DSLR camera, a tripod and at least one external flash become part of a shopping list.

Some of the most spectacular photographs you will see of water droplets need special equipment, sometimes too expensive for the occasional session, but for many photographs what you need most is patience. You can start with a basic kit and move on to move complicated and expensive gear if your interest grows. But for most of us, just the fun of using what we have is enough.

A macro lens will also help with this project, but it is not essential. A telephoto zoom lens makes for a good alternative.

As you may be able to tell from these image, I have a fascination with water and have made many pictures. Some outside exploring fountains, but a lot at home. For most of my shots, my setup is simple: I use the kitchen sink and the water tap, controlling the drip that comes out of it.

Creating Color

For color in the background, I use everything from colored trays to oranges and lemons. As long as they’re out of focus (and with a macro lens this is easy to achieve) it works perfectly.

You can also explore using colored filters on your flash, though this will alter more than the background color. I think the easiest way to play with color is to change your white balance settings. You can create rich blues and deep oranges with a quick adjustment of a camera setting.
My Flash Setup

I mentioned before that you can get good shots using an on-camera flash, but it’s not the easiest thing to do. Being that photography is my profession, I have some gear laying around that makes this whole process easier.

I normally use one flash for this. For the flash, you need a cable to make it possible to move the flash away from the camera and to an angle. I use a radio trigger for the flash, because I am used to it, and the version I use lets me control everything from the camera, what comes in handy in some situations.

You can also use infrared communication if your camera “talks” with an external flash that way. It is better than using a cable, which sometimes is shorter than needed.

I use a radio trigger for the camera as well because it lets me trigger it from any place. Once I have my setup ready, the trigger allows me to work away from the water wear I might cause unwanted vibrations.
Exposure
Step 1

Remember that it is the flash that allows us to freeze the droplets. I usually work with my flash in manual and set the power according to the distance the flash is from the place where the water droplets fall. It can be from 1/8 down to 1/128 depending on the existing conditions.
Step 2

As for the camera I choose a small aperture, from f/11 down, to assure I get a generous area focused.
Step 3

Depending on what I want as the final result, I change shutter speed, from 1/640 to 0.5 seconds. Changing speed gives you control over the ambient light. As you make longer exposures you get interesting effects, from the combination of flash exposure freezing the image and the long exposure creating “ghosts” that look like movement dashes you see in cartoons. Try it!
Step 4

I tend to use 100 ISO most of the time, but with new cameras I have no problems going up to 400 ISO if I feel it gives me more options. Remember you need to use a small aperture to get everything you need in focus.
Step 5

As for focusing, define where your drops fall, and with the camera on the tripod focus on that point (use a small object placed at the exact spot) and check the depth of field to confirm that your chosen aperture will work. Do this with the room lights on and when it is done dim lights so the flash will be the main light source. But do remember you can mix ambient and flash. That’s something I do, and it produces great results.

Shooting

This setup was done in my bathtub (go big or go home) as opposed to the sink, and it took some time to get everything arranged as I wanted it. I decided I wanted to show an inverted shower head photographed with flash and colored gels. It’s not hard to achieve.

Playing with water is always a tricky exercise, both for the photographer and for the viewer. Each person seems to have a different notion of the way things are done.

Let me explain you how I did this. I started by photographing the shower head sequentially with different colored gels over the flash. I tried to work with multiple flashes with gels, but was not happy with the results, so I returned to the simple solution: one flash, multiple exposures, different color gels!

My final image is a composite of several images, each shot with a different color gel on the flash. I’m going to combine them in Photoshop. But it would be interesting to explore this technique by doing multiple in camera exposure. Regardless of the process, you need to keep your camera rock steady between shots. So don’t forget the tripod. Camera movement would make lining up the layer of the image too difficult.

Editing Images
Step 1

Once I captured the images I wanted, I selected them in Adobe Bridge and sent them to Photoshop using the option, on PC, Tools > Photoshop > Load Files into Photoshop Layers.
Step 2

Afterwards, I selected all layers in the Layers panel on the right and on the top menu selected Edit > Auto-Blend Layers > Stack Images. Because the images were all taken with a tripod, you do not need to Auto Align Layers before merging them.

Step 3

The Layers panel on the right side shows – in this case – the four layers, with the masks automatically applied by Photoshop. Open the image to 100% and check that everything registers perfectly. If it does you can merge the image to do the final editing.
Step 4

Before doing so, if you want to be able, in the future, to create multiple images tweaking the layer masks, save the image as a PSD with all layers. Then create a final JPEG or whatever format you want.

Step 5

The process shown here gives you a unique picture that blends different shots into a single image, creating a mixture of colors that could not be achieved if I used multiple flashes with gels. This process makes it not just easier to do but more accessible to most photographers, even with simple equipment.

It is true you do need an editor that lets you merge layers and use masks, but either automatically or manually, most modern programs offer that options. Even free software, as Perfect Effects 4, from onOne Software.

The HDR solution
Step 1

There is another way to process the original images, and it will give you a different result. Select the same pictures – or you can go for images taken at different exposures, following the HDR concept, and in Brigde choose Tools>Photoshop>Merge to HDR Pro.

Step 2

In Photoshop, you’ll get the HDR Pro panel, that lets you tweak the aspect of the file. You can activate the suppress ghosts option, but it will probably remove interesting elements of the image, in this particular case. Not doing it will create some areas in the image which seem devoid of any information, but this can be repaired with some cloning work.

Create a Face Shattering Effect in Photoshop

In today's tutorial we will show how to make a Face Shattering Effect in Photoshop. Make this tutorial we will use various effects and reborn brush. So let's have started......

Preparations

We will need close-up image of a nice face, prefably facing front. I’m using one of Jessica Alba wallpapers in this tutorial. You will also need the Reborn Brush created by Rubina119.

Step 1 – Setting Up Background

Create a document of size 750×550 pixels.

Fill the Background layer with #000000.

Place the face at the center of the document and use Soft Eraser tool to remove the other unwanted background.

Step 2a – Drawing Face Grids

Create a new document of size 20×20 pixels and create a new layer. Use Pencil tool with size 1px and color #FFFFFF, draw left and bottom border to form a “L”. Hide the Background layer and click Ctrl+A. Go to Edit > Define Pattern. Name this pattern as Grid.

Back to Jessica Alba’s document, create a new layer above the Face. Use the Paint Bucket tool and select to fill with Grid pattern

Step 2b – Drawing Face Grids

Remove those grids that cross outside of the face area.

Go to Edit > Transform > Warp.

Distort the grids the way shown in the diagram.

Step 2c – Drawing Face Grids

Set the opacity of the grid layer to 20%.

Right-click on the grid layer and choose Blending Options.

Activate Outer Glow and set its Blend Mode to Color Dodge, Opacity to 100%, Color to #FFFFFF, Spread to 0 and Size to 5px. Leave the rest of the settings as default.

Step 3a – Shattered Blocks

Create a new layer and name it as Holes.

With Pen tool, path out several square holes according to the face grids.

Go to the Paths tab, Ctrl+left click on the work path layer created. Back to Layers tab, select the Holes layer and fill the selection with #000000.

Step 3b – Shattered Blocks

Ctrl+left click on the Holes layer to load selection.

Select the Face layer and hit Ctrl+X to cut out the pixels. Then press Ctrl+V to paste and then name this new layer as Blocks.

Drag the blocks to the right with Move tool. Go to Edit > Free Transform to reduce the size slightly.

Step 3c – Shattered Blocks

Duplicate the Blocks layer. Shift the lower Blocks layer 1 pixel to the left. Repeat this for 10 times and you will get some sort of extruding effect. Merge these 10 layers of duplicated Blocks and name this new merged layer as Sides. Right-click on the Sides layer and choose Blending Options. Activate Gradient Overlay and set Blend Mode to Normal, Opacity to 80%, Gradient from #000000 to #D58761 and Angle to 180. Leave the rest as default.

Step 3d – Shattered Blocks

Activate Pattern Overlay and set Blend Mode to Multiply, Opacity to 100% Pattern to Metal Landscape. Leave the rest as default.

Right-click on Blocks layer and choose Blending Options. Activate Outer Glow and set Blend Mode to Color Dodge, Opacity to 75%, Color to #FFFFFF and Size to 10px. Leave the rest as default.

Step 3e – Shattered Blocks

Repeat Step 3a to 3d for 2-3 more times to form more blocks floating towards the right.

Step 4 – Adding Depth to Holes

Merge all the Holes layers. Right-click on the merged layer and choose Blending Options.

Activate Bevel and Emboss, set the Style to Inner Bevel, Depth to 72%, Size to 5px, Soften to 0px, Angle to 0, Altitude to 50, Highlight Mode to Screen, Highlight Color to #DCA57E, Highlight Opacity to 100%, Shadow Mode to Multiply, Shadow Color to #000000 and Shadow Opacity to 75%. Leave the rest of settings as default.

Step 5 – Adding Smoke

Create a new layer below the Blocks and name it as Smoke. Set the foreground color to #FFFFFF. Load the Reborn brushes downloaded earlier and paint a few smoke of different sizes on this layer.

Right-click on the Smoke layer and choose Blending Options. Activate Outer Glow and set its Blend Mode to Linear Dodge (Add), Opacity to 75%, Color to #FFFFFF, Spread to 0px and Size to 5px. Leave the rest of settings as default.

Step 6 – Adding Dark Blocks

Create a new layer and name it as Dark Blocks.

Using Pen tool, path out few more blocks along the face grid. Fill the shapes with #000000.

Set the Blend Mode of Dark Blocks layer to Soft Light.

Step 7 – Adding Light Blocks

Create a new layer and name is as Light Blocks.

Similar to Step 6 but this time fill the shapes with #FFFFFF.

Set the Blend Mode of Light Blocks layer to Soft Light.

Step 8 – Adjusting Colors

Now we need to smooth the face a little. Select the Face layer and go to Filter > Blur > Surface Blur. Set the Radius to 5px and Threshold to 15 levels.

Create a new Levels Adjustment Layer and key in 10, 1.25, 244.

Create a new layer and using a large Soft Brush tool with color #000000 and opacity 40%, paint some dark areas on the right to fade the blocks slightly.

Make a breathtaking scene in Photoshop

In today's tutorial we will present how to make breathtaking scene in Photoshop. We use blend elements together using nondestructive techniques, paint with vibrant colors, and blur/smudge to create this tutorial So let's have a look.....

Step 1 – Size

Open the background stock. The size of the stock is width: 2250px and Height: 1500px.

Step 2 – Smart Object

Transform the background into a smart object. Pressing right click in the layer thumbnail and selecting the option Convert to smart object.

Step 3 – Smart Object

Press double click in the smart object thumbnail.

Step 4 – Edit

Now a new window will pop up. This allow you to edit the smart object. So press ok.

Step 5 – Duplicate

Now press Ctrl+J to duplicate the layer in case you need to go back to the original image.In this layer you will use the patch tool to hide undesired parts of the image.

Step 6 – Duplicate and Change color

Press Ctrl+J to duplicate the layer and then press Ctrl+U and in the option saturation put -70. The image will have this color.

Step 7 – Save

The the changes you made to the smart object press ctrl + S and close the window.

Step 8 – River

Now go to folder you have the stocks and grab the image of the river. You will see that the image is an smart object itself, you can change the size clicking in the corners.

Step 9 – Layer Mask

Create a layer mask to erase the undesired parts of the image. Pick a soft round brush to paint over the parts you want to remove. You will have something like this:

Step 10 – Hue and Saturation

Go to Create a new fill or adjustment layer and click in the option Hue/Saturation.

Reduce the Saturation to -60.

Step 11 – Apply to one object

To Apply the changes only in the layer of the river you have to press right click over the Hue and Saturation layer and select the option Create Clipping Mask.

Step 12 – Duplicate

Now go back to the Background image and duplicate the layer pressing Ctrl+J and then change the layer mode to soft light.

Make a a Invasion movie poster in Photoshop

In today's tutorial we will present how to make a Invasion movie poster in Photoshop. we use some texture and simple technique in Photoshop. So let's have a look.......Step 1Open up Photoshop and create a new Document of 2270×3450 and click OK. Open the Cloud image and scale it down (Ctrl + T) so that it fits the canvas. Create a new layer and name it ‘Color_Gradient’ and set the Layer Mode to Color. Select the Gradient Tool (G) and set a grey-ish green color (#58686b) as the foreground color and a marine blue color (#394f61) as the background color. Drag the Gradient Tool (G) from the bottom left to the top right.

Create a new layer and name it ‘Billing_Block_Shadow’. Grab a Soft Round Brush of any size and start painting the bottom of the image black. Set the Opacity to 50%.

Step 2Now we are going to add a whole bunch of color correction layers. Create a new Group and name it ‘Color_Correction’, add a new Curves Adjustment Layer and go to the Red and Blue Channel and try to simulate the settings shown below. Leave the Green Channeluntouched.

Add a Color Balance Adjustment Layer by clicking on the, as I’d like to call it ‘Yin-Yang’ button in the Layer Menu. By default, the Color Balance menu will open in the Midtones Channel. Set the Cyan color level to +60, Magenta to +4 and the Yellow Channel to +10. Go to the Highlights Channel and set the first level to -37, set the second channel to -3 and the third channel to +1. Drag this Adjustment Layer underneath the Curves Adjustment layer.

Add a Photo Filter Adjustment Layer and select the Deep Yellow preset. Keep the Density at 25% and check on Preserve Luminosity. Drag this Photo Filter Adjustment layer underneath the Color Balance Adjustment layer.

This next layer will be our noise layer which will help blend all of the images together. Create a new layer, name it ‘Adjustment_01′ and fill it with a grayish-black (#222222) and set the Layer Mode to Screen. Go to Filter>Noise>Add Noise, set the Amount to 7%, set theDistribution to Gaussian and check on Monochromatic. Create another layer, name it ‘Adjustment_02′ and fill it with a bright blue-ish color(#17d7ff), set the Layer Mode to Color and the Opacity to 15%. At this point of the tutorial, you should have a result similar to the image below and your layers should be kept as shown below.

PLEASE NOTE! From this point on, everything we are going to be working on needs to be placed below the color correction group.
Step 3Download the image of the F-15 Fighter Jet, open it up in Photoshop and drag it into our composition. Scale and rotate the image just like the image shown below.

Because the aircraft has lots of curves and sharp corners, the best and fastest way to get rid of the sky is by using the Pen Tool (P). Try to get every detail of the aircraft including the smallest metal parts, it will look more realistic in your final design. When you’re done creating a path around the aircraft, right-click within the path and click on Make Selection…, click OK.

Once the path is turned into a selection, click on the Mask icon at the bottom of the Layer menu and you’ll see that the entire background is gone.

Repeat this step with the image of the MiG-22 Fighter Jet and place the image as shown below. Make sure you flip the image horizontally! For better organizing, create two new groups with the names of the aircraft layers and put the images in the corresponding groups.

Back to the F15 Fighter Jet. Because I want to add some vapor trails we’ll need to create a copy of the masked layer, place it below the F15 and press Ctrl + U to bring up the Hue/Saturation menu. Set the Lightness to +100 and click OK.

Go to Filter>Blur>Motion Blur, set the Angle to -52 and set the Distance to 999.

We’ll need to remove the white motion blur in front of the aircraft. You can do this by clicking on the layer mask thumbnail, set the Foreground color to black and select a Soft Round brush of around 500px. Now paint away the white area in front of the aircraft.

Create a retro-style wallpaper in Photoshop

Today's tutorial we will present how to make a retro-style wallpaper in Photoshop. Make this tutorial we use
shiny textures, loads of lens flares, and bright colors in Photoshop. So let's check it out.......

Step 1

Create a new document in Photoshop. Make it 1920 by 1200 which is a standard HD Wallpaper size. Now fill the document with black.

Step 2

Now open up your mountain/clouds picture and select the bit of clouds that you want in your background, or choose another background that you’d like for your wallpaper.

Step 3

Copy and paste the image you’d like (clouds in this case) into your wallpaper.

Step 4

Go to Image>Adjustments>Exposure and bring down the exposure and the offset and bump up the gamma a bit. This will creat some contrast and darken up your image so it’s punchy.

Step 5

In a new layer, use your marque tool and create a rectangle and fill it with white.

Step 6

Duplicate this white rectangle layer many times and start lowering the opacities at random levels. This will create something like the image bellow.

Step 7

When you’ve made about 10-20 dupicated layers with random opacities then go ahead and group them (highlight them all and hit ctrl/cmd + G) and then dupicate the group a couple of times to save you time. Then simply spread out the groups of rectangles by clicking and dagging them so they look randomish. This step is purely to save you time, and you can skip it if you want the ultimate random look to your wallpaper, but it will just take you longer.

Step 8

When you’re satisfied with your rectangle shape collage, form one final group with all your single rectangle group layers. If you’ve created multiple subgroups, then just group them all so that you can hit ctrl/cmd + T and rotate them all 45% to one side like so.

Step 9

This design that we’re doing is a “V” shape, so you need to highlight exactly one half of the wallpaper (to the opposite side you rotated your rectangle group) and create a mask. This will hide the portion that you haven’t selected. Then invert the mask by hiting ctrl/cmd + I. You could also do this step by selecting the side you want to keep and hitting the mask button for the exact same result.

Step 10

Then you can either move your group around so it looks like half of a “V” shape, or you can make a diagonal selection and mask out that region as well so you end up with something like this. You can do this editing on your mask layer by selecting it. Just remember that whatever is in white will show up, and whatever is in black will be invisible.

Step 11

Once you’re satisfied with your masking, go ahead and duplicate the group and flip it by hitting ctrl/cmd + T, then right clicking and hitting “flip horizontal”. Now you should see something like this.

Step 12

This is a checkpoint. Your layers should look similar to this. Now to save you space and memory, and make sure your computer doesn’t get bogged down by the size of the photoshop document you can duplicate this layer to make a copy, turn off the visibility (in the layers menu… it looks like an eye… click it!) and then flatten your new copy so it becomes a flat layer.

You can see a Before/After below (just roll over the image once it’s all loaded in). I bought my image from iStockPhoto – here’s the item (Note if you download the sample PSD file from Psdtuts+ Plus, the image has a watermark over it, so you’ll need to purchase it and swap it in).

Step One:

Create a new Solid Color Adjustment layer and fill it with White. Above that layer, create a new blank layer by hitting the New Layer Button at the bottom of the layer palette. Name that layer "Basic Shapes." Now turn both of those layers off.
Step Two:

We are going to use the Pen Tool (P) to trace all of the basic structural elements of the image. In my case, it will be the outline of the body and the outlines of the clothes.

With the Pen Tool selected, simply click anywhere you would like to start then continue to click and drag to trace the part you are working on with the path. To make it look more like a sketch, we are going to use a lot of small paths rather than trace the whole thing with one long path. When you come to a place where you think the path should end, hold down the Cmd (or Ctrl) key ,and click anywhere off the path. That will deselect it and now you are free to create another one. Keep doing this until all of your basic shapes are traced. Here are a few shots of how I traced my image:

A common misconception is that a path needs to be a loop. Not true. We are going to use all "open paths" in this tutorial.
Step Three:

Turn on your white layer and your blank layer. Select the blank layer. In the paths palette, drag your work path down to the New Path button at the bottom of the palette to save it. Select the Brush Tool and open the brushes palette. Select any round, hard brush preset. Under the Brush Tip Shape section, modify the brush to create a thin ellipse by bringing the roundness down to 12%. Make the angle 45 degrees. Turn on the Shape Dynamics section bring the Size Jitter to 100, the Minimum diameter to 35, and the Angle Jitter to 5.

With the blank layer still selected, hit D to make black your foreground color then right/control – click on the path and choose Stroke Path. Make sure that Simulate Pressure is checked and use Brush as your source. Hit OK. You might have to adjust the Master Diameter in the brushes palette if the lines are too thin or thick.

Repeat steps 2 and 3 a few more times, each time getting more and more detailed in what you trace. The more detail you trace, the thinner you should set the Master Diameter on the brushes palette. Each time you do a pass, make sure to apply the stroke onto a new layer.

Step Four:

Now that we have the outlines, let’s paint in some color. Duplicate the the layer that contains your photograph. Put the copy at the top, above all the other layers. Set the Blending Mode to "Color".

Hit B for the Brush Tool. In the Brushes palette set the Brush Angle to -45 degrees and turn off the Shape Dynamics. Make the brush a bit larger.

Make a new blank layer and call it "Paint." Make sure that it’s below all of your outline layers. Make sure that your foreground color is still set to black. In the properties bar, set the Opacity of the brush to 10%. Very roughly paint in the color where you want it. Be sure to release the mouse every now and then so that the color begins to multiply over itself. Don’t worry about staying in the lines too much. I used a Wacom Tablet so it was easy for me to get nice strokes but if all you have is a mouse just do the best you can.

Step Five:

Hit E for the Eraser Tool. Set the eraser brush up the same way that we did the paint brush. Make sure that the eraser brush’s Opacity is at 50%. Now go back and tidy up your paint job. I like it when you can still slightly see the paint going over the lines.
Step Six:

On my image, I want the pants to be blue instead of that peachy color, so I am going to make a new Hue/Saturation Adjustment layer at the very top of the layers palette. Drag the Hue slider over until you get the hue that you like. Adjust the saturation as you like. Wait, the whole image changed! Thats Ok — we are going to fix that.

Click on the layer mask thumbnail on the Hue/Sat layer and hit Cmd+I to invert it. The image will go back to the way it was before. Set your background color to white and select the Eraser Tool. Set the eraser’s opacity to 100% and paint on the mask so that the hue adjustment we made appears. Now just paint where you want the color shift.

Continue this way until you are happy with the colors.

The shirt adjusted.

The skin tone adjusted.
Step Seven:

Make one more new blank layer just below the "Paint" layer. Call it "bkg paint". Select the brush tool again and make the master diameter huge. Mine is at 200. With the brush opacity at 5% do a few really broad strokes across the whole image just to bring in a little color to the background.

Make fiery mixed media composition using photoshop

Today's tutorial we will show a nice fiery mixed media composition using Photoshop. We use color effects and another method in Photoshop. So let's have a start.......

Step 1

To start things off we are going to open the image of the tiger from the resources folder. Once the image is open in Photoshop, select your "Background" layer and press Command/Ctrl + J to duplicate it and turn the visibility of the original layer off as shown in the image below:

What we want to do next is click and hold your mouse over the Eraser Tool to reveal two additional tools. From this box we want to choose "Magic Eraser Tool" and make sure that your tolerance setting is at about 32. You will see the settings for the Magic Eraser Tool across the top of your window.

From here, all you have to do is click somewhere on the white background of the image and voila! Your background will disappear. We could have used the Pen Tool or a Layer Mask to remove the background, but once we start building our composition we will be using a light background so we shouldn't have to spend too much time on that.
Step 2

Next, create a new Photoshop document that is Tabloid size or 11" x 17" and 300 dpi. For now we will leave the image in RGB, but if we are going to print this then we will need to change the mode to CMYK.

After creating your new file, drag the isolated tiger from the previous step into your document. You may have to scale the tiger up a bit to get it roughly the same size as the image. To do this, simply press Command/Ctrl + T to initiate a Free Transform and then drag any of the four corners outwards while holding down the Shift Key to constrain the proportions of the image.

Step 3

Now we want to add a Layer Mask to our tiger layer so we will select the Layer Mask icon from the bottom of the Layers Palette as shown below:

Switch to your Brush Tool (B) and select a hard round black brush at about 25 pixels in diameter.

Zoom in closely and begin to paint out some of the choppy shadow that wasn't removed earlier when we used our Magic Eraser Tool to extract the background from the tiger image. We just want to clean this up a bit more since we can always recreate the shadow later on if we need to.

Once you are satisfied with the results of your mask, hold down the Control Key and click on the Layer Mask Thumbnail to reveal a dropdown menu. From this menu, select "Apply Layer Mask" as shown in the image below:

Step 4

Select your tiger layer and press Command/Ctrl + J to duplicate the layer and then select this layer. Go to the Filter Menu and choose Blur - Gaussian Blur as shown in the image below:

Once the dialog box appears, apply a 32 pixel blur to the image and press "OK" to apply the Gaussian Blur.

Change the Blending Mode of the blurred layer to Overlay and then reduce the fill to about 65% to bring out some of the contrast of the tiger. Using the Overlay Blending Mode will also make the colors appear richer and more vibrant.

To see the effect that this has on your image you can toggle the visibility of the top layer on and off. The image below will also show you the difference between the tiger before and after we blurred the layer and applied an Overlay.

Step 5

Select your top layer and while holding the Shift Key select the layer underneath it. You should now have both of your tiger layers highlighted and selected. From here, press Command/Ctrl + G to put both of these layers into a Group Folder and call it something clever like "Tiger."

Placing these layers into a folder will help us keep track of similar layers that belong together as we continue to build our Photoshop composition. You may think that it's a pointless step right now, but you will thank me when you have 50+ layers in a file and can't find the one you are looking for.
Step 6

Make sure that your top layer (the group folder) is selected and click on the Adjustment Layer icon shown at the bottom of your Layers Palette. From the pop up menu, select "Curves" as shown in the image below:

You will now notice that you have a new layer showing your Curves at the top of your Layers Palette. Click on the Curves thumbnail and create two points along the diagonal line. Refer to the image below to see the placement and settings for both of these two points.

Once the settings have been applied you will see that there is a noticeable difference in the highlights and shadows of the tiger. What we want to do is just lower the opacity to about 84% and the fill to about 48% to lessen the effect a bit.

Step 7

Create a new layer below the tiger folder and load up the watercolor brushes from the resources folder through Photoshop. Select some of the larger brushes and with a solid black color begin to paint on the background.

The idea is to play around with the brushes by flipping and transforming them into different configurations. The brushes create interesting shapes and they will also add depth to your illustrations.

Create another new layer, and this time place it above the tiger folder. With a bright orange color - Here I am using #FFAE00.

Begin to paint on this layer keeping in mind that you want to experiment with the shapes of the different brushes until you are happy.

After you have done that, change the Blending Mode of the orange layer to Overlay and you should have something like the image below:

We are now going to place a Layer Mask onto this layer by clicking on the Adjustment Layers icon indicated at the bottom of the Layers Palette. You will then want to paint onto this layer using a large soft round brush set to black. Paint into this layer will enable you to blend the color into the background and by brushing around the hard edges of the brush you will get a softer, more natural effect.

Step 8

Create a new layer above the orange paint layer from the previous step and change the Blending Mode to Linear Dodge (Add). Select another one of the watercolor brushes and use a vibrant and punchy color like the one below:

Paint onto your layer and experiment with the placement of your brush. Here I have placed one of the brushes so that it overlaps part of the head of the tiger.

In the same way that we blended the orange color using a Layer Mask, we are going to also fade the edges of the red brush so that we can blend it into the fur. Remember to also switch back to a soft round brush when masking - an easy way to pull up your Brushes Palette while working is just by pressing the F5 key.

In addition to softening the edges of the red color I have also lowered the fill to about 65%. We are going to be building up a gradual brightness by using other methods so the key here is just to add depth.

To enhance the effect further, make sure you have a soft round brush selected and use the same red color to brush some color into other areas of the fur. Notice the Layers Palette where you can switch back and forth between the layer and the mask. By doing this you can easily add color back to different areas or take them out, but the important thing is switching back and forth between the two.

I wanted to spread the color out a bit by brushing onto the legs and body of the tiger. By keeping this layer with a mask we can return to it at any point to modify it in a non-destructive way.

Step 9

Open up the tiger folder and double click on your original silhouetted tiger layer. This will bring up the Layer Styles Dialog Box where you want to then select "Outer Glow" from the panel. Apply the same settings as shown below and notice that instead of using a solid color here I have chosen to use a gradient.

For the gradient, we want it to go from a solid white color to a transparent orange color so we just get a hint of that as it fades out.

Doing this will add some contrast between the tiger and the background elements in addition to having a cool effect on the surrounding colors in the design.

Step 10

Now that we have started to build up an interesting and tactile background with various brushes it seems that the bottom part of the tiger feels a bit empty. In order to balance out the image further I have placed a new layer below the tiger folder, but above the original black paint layer. Continue to experiment with the different watercolor brushes using a solid black color in order to build up the effect even more.

For this step I would also recommend using a Layer Mask as we did in the previous steps to remove any unwanted sections from the paint layers until you are happy with the way your composition is looking.
Step 11

Create another new layer at the top of your Layers Palette and select a yellowish-orange color such as #FFA800 as shown in the image below:

Switch over to your Gradient Tool (G) and select a Radial Gradient that fades from solid to transparent after choosing your color.

Click your mouse and drag outwards to create a small-to-medium sized gradient. Place the gradient over the head of the tiger and change the Blending Mode of the layer to Overlay. In addition, lower the opacity and the fill to about 70% each.

By doing this we can begin to bring out some more color in other areas of the image. We began by layering some orange and red colors on top of the black background in a small section of our image, and now we have begun to spread this color throughout other areas to create some asymmetry and tonal balance.
Step 12

Next, double click on the Background layer to bring up the Layer Styles Dialog Box. Check off "Color Overlay" from the vertical menu on the left and select a solid black fill color.

Press OK to accept the changes and then double click on the black paint layers and do the same thing, except for these, we want to use a vibrant orange color such as #FF9000 as shown in the image below:

After doing this you will notice that it totally changes the feel of the image and switches things up a bit. You should also now note the small "Fx" icon on your background and black paint layers.

Step 13

Open the image of the city sidewalk from the resources folder and bring it into your Photoshop file. Use the Free Transform (Command/Ctrl + T) to rotate and scale the image up so that you can fit the sidewalk nicely right in the foreground of the image. Placing the image this way gives the tiger some context and also makes the design more dynamic.

Make a copy of the layer once you are happy with it's placement by pressing Command/Ctrl + J. With your duplicated layer selected, press Command/Ctrl + Alt/Option + U to bring up the Hue/Saturation Adjustment. From here, move the middle slider all the way to the left to desaturate the sidewalk.

Create a new layer above the top sidewalk layer and switch to your Gradient Tool. We will want to use a Linear Gradient that fades from solid black to completely transparent as show below:

On your new layer, click your mouse off towards the upper right corner and drag down and to the left to create your gradient.

After getting a nice fade going we can create a gradual blend that will add a bit of depth to our design.

Switch to your Brush Tool (B) and with a large soft round brush, paint with a black color at a low opacity over your gradient layer to continue to smooth out the edges a bit further to enhance the effect.

Step 14

Create a new layer just above your black gradient layer and with a large soft round brush selected, begin to brush in some shadows on the ground with a low opacity of about 10% so that you can build your shadows up gradually.

Create another new layer below the tiger layer and switch to your Gradient Tool (G). From here, select a Radial Gradient that fades from a vibrant orange color (#ED8906) to opaque.

Change the Blending Mode to Multiply and move it below the tiger until you are happy with the placement.

Create two more copies of the Multiply layer and move them around behind the tiger to show the lights reflection on the ground.

Try a slightly more reddish color and create another Radial Gradient, this time placing it above the tiger. Subtle variations in color will add more value and tone to the overall image.

Step 15

Next, open the city backdrop image from the resources folder and scale it up so that it fills the whole top portion of the image and you can extend it a bit beyond the canvas area as you see fit.

What we want to do next is desaturate the image by pressing Command/Ctrl + Alt/Option + U and moving the middle slider all the way to the left as shown in the image below:

Switch to your Brush Tool and select a large soft round brush with a solid black fill.

With the city background highlighted in your Layers Palette, click on the Layer Mask icon at the bottom of the palette as shown here:

Paint with your brush into the bottom of the city layer to fade the bottom of the image into the background. Feel free to experiment with the blend here, and remember that you can always add parts of the image back in simply by switching the color of your brush from black to white.
Step 16

Press the "D" key on your keyboard to switch to your default colors and create a new layer just above the city backdrop. From here, go to the Filter Menu and choose Render - Clouds as shown in the image below:

After applying the effect, change the Blending Mode of the cloud layer to Multiply.

Return to the Filter Menu and this time choose Blur - Motion Blur.

Max out the effect by moving the slider all the way to the right and change the angle to approximately 45 degrees as shown below:

Add a Layer Mask to this layer and once again use a large soft round brush to mask out the clouds so that they are only appearing in the top portion of the image. Also try lowering the opacity of the cloud texture to around 40% for a more subtle effect.

Step 17

Switch to your Gradient Tool (G) and choose a vibrant orange-red color such as #FC4D00 as shown below:

Make sure that you have a Radial Gradient selected that fades from solid to transparent.

Create a new layer above the clouds texture and the city backdrop. Using your Gradient Tool (G) click and drag outwards to create your Radial Gradient. Change the Blending Mode of the layer to Overlay and you will have a nice color effect on the background.

Press Command/Ctrl + J to duplicate the Radial Gradient and experiment with the placement and color of each of the layers to gradually build up the effect.

Select all of your gradient layers and then press Command/Ctrl + G to put them all into a Group Folder. Name the folder and reduce the opacity to somewhere around 60-65% to create a slightly toned down effect.

Step 18

Open the nebula image from the resources folder and bring it into your Photoshop document. Place the image just below the "Background Color" folder as shown in the image below:

Click on the Layer Mask icon at the bottom of the Layers Palette and use a large soft round brush to paint into the image using a solid black color. The idea here is just to mask out the edges so that you can see the street and city in the background while still leaving some of the texture behind the tiger.

Step 19

Select your tiger layer and press Command/Ctrl + J to duplicate the layer. Double click on the copy to bring up the Layer Styles Dialog Box and choose "Color Overlay" and use a solid black for the fill color as shown here:

Apply the changes and then apply a Layer Mask on the duplicated layer.

Using a large soft round brush with a solid black color selected, brush out the majority of the duplicated layer and leave only some of the shading on the left side. Doing this will emulate shadows and make the tiger fit into the space better.

Continue to play with this mask using the black brush to remove parts of the duplicate layer, and tap the "X" key to toggle back and forth between black and white. Using a white brush on your masked layer will bring the image back.
Step 20

Once you are happy with the way your image looks, we are going to flatten the image.

After flattening the image, press Command/Ctrl + J to make a copy of this layer.

With the duplicated flat layer selected, go to the Filter Menu and choose Other - High Pass as shown in the image below:

For the settings, apply a radius of about 10 pixels before pressing "OK" to apply the High Pass Filter.

Doing this will sharpen the final image and add a bit of extra polish. Make sure to do a Save As rather than overwriting the layered version of your composition and take a look at the final design we have created.

How to make a Pulsing Poster in Photoshop

Today we will learn how to create a Pulsing Poster with a Vinyl Record and Grunge Type in Photoshop. We use some funky pulsing elements, grunge typography, and put it together into a unique poster design. So why not a look....

Step 1

Let’s start with the vinyl record. Select the Ellipse Tool (L) and draw a circle. Fill it with black and apply a Stroke of 5pt. This will be the background of the vinyl record.

Step 2

Next, we will create the rings that you can see on a vinyl record. This will be a little exaggerated, but it will achieve a nice effect. Create another circle and make it just a little smaller then the background circle. Apply a Stroke of .0.25 pt in a dark grey (K=75%). Then duplicate the circle and scale it down about 75% of the original. Have them both centered, horizontal, and vertical.

Step 3

Select both circles and apply a Blend Mode of 15 Specified Steps (Command + Alt + B and then go to Object > Blend > Blend Options).

Step 4

Repeat Step 2 and Step 3, but choose a light red as the Stroke color and make it much smaller. This will be for the record paper label. Apply 5 Specified Steps as a Blend Option.

Step 5

Create another small circle, slightly bigger then the red blended circles. Fill the circle with a light red to dark red radial gradient.

Step 6

Make yet another smaller circle with a white to black radial gradient. This will act as a hole. I outlined the size below, but of course it will be in relation to your circle sizes.

Step 7

Last but not least, create a smaller circle filled with white on top of the hole. Center both and group them together.

Step 8

Select all the circles we have created and center them both horizontally and vertically and group them together. I outlined the stacking order starting with the bottom circle (black background circle).

Step 9

So far so good, but the record still looks a little dull. Let’s create some shiny highlights. Create a long rectangle with the Rectangle Tool (M), fill it with a black to white to black radial gradient, then rotate it 45 degrees.

Step 10

Create another rectangle, but have it more square than long and fill it with the reverse linear gradient, meaning white to black to white. Next, place it centered over the first rectangle.

Step 11

Select both shapes and apply an Opacity Mask (you can find it under the Transparency Palette)

Step 12

This is what it should look like.

Step 13

Move the shiny highlight over the vinyl record and center both. You’ll see that with the Opacity Mask applied, it’s creates an illusion of a reflection.

Step 14

Next, make a duplicate (Command + C + F) of the vinyl record background circle and place it on top of all other objects. Next, select the highlight shape and the circle copy, then apply a Clipping Mask (Command + 7) under Object > Clipping Mask > Make. Group the record and the highlight together.

Step 15

Voila, your vinyl record is ready.

Step 16

Let’s create some background shapes. Create three equally long rectangles, space them out equally with the Align Palette and fill each with a color of your liking. I chose red, grey, and yellow. Then select all three and apply a Blend with Specified Steps. The Steps amount depends on your spacing, but you want them to be as close together as possible.

Step 17

Select the blend and go to Object > Envelope Distort > Make with Warp and choose the Squeeze Style and apply the settings you see in the image.

Step 18

Make a new layer, place it below your other layers, and name it "background." Create a rectangle and fill it with black and no Stroke.

Step 19

Create another rectangle, a third of the black one and place it on the bottom over the black shape. Set the Transparency Mode to Multiply.

Step 20

Take the star burst shape from Step 16 and create several duplicates. Next, place them in a circular rotation on your background. Keep in mind that we want to put the vinyl record in the middle.

Step 21

I apply an Opacity Mask to each star burst shape to fade the inside into the background. This creates a sense of depth.

Step 22

We need some more background shapes. Let’s create another cool effect. Create two small rectangles and place them equal on the vertical plane, also align them reasonably far apart from each other.

Step 23

Now apply a Blend with Specified Steps again.

Step 24

Apply another Opacity Mask and set the Transparency to 13%

Step 25

Drag the blend into the Symbol Palette to create a new symbol. Call it whatever you like.

Step 26

Make the symbol active by clicking on it and select the Symbol sprayer Tool (Shift + S). Start spraying on the background. Watch what happens when you spray over the red shape that we set to multiply. Without changing anything, it gives us a neat effect.

Step 27

Have a look. Place as many as you want.

Step 28

Now place the vinyl record in the middle.

Step 29

Let’s add some text. I chose a cool font that you can download here at www.dafont.com. It’s called Base and it has a grungy look to it.

Step 30

Create a big circle around the vinyl record. Make sure there is enough distance for the text. Then select the Type Tool (T), and choose the Type on Path Options. When you click on the circle outline, you will see that the circle fill or any stroke will disappear and the text will be placed in a circular motion. Choose a text size that suites you and choose any words you like.

Step 31

I placed more text around the vinyl record, both circular and horizontal. This will make it dynamic and add contrast.

Conclusion

I created more text around the vinyl record and added some brushes around a small circle on the record label. I also created a cool Clipping Path around the star burst shapes. All I did was create a rectangle and apply a grungy brush stroke. Next, expand the appearance and select the rectangle and the starburst shapes and apply the Clipping Path. That’s it, I hope you had fun with this tutorial!

Make A Speeding Car Scene With Light Effects In Photoshop

Today we will learn how to make a Speeding Car Scene With Light Effects In Photoshop. We use some cool Photoshop tricks to add light effects to the design. So let's see...

Step 1

Before we get into the design and start blending things together we will need to do a bit of prep work to get us started. Open the image of the winding road in the mountains from the resources folder. You can use a similar image if you would like but make sure that the perspective matches closely to the other images (like the car) that you want to use in your design.

Double click on the ‘Background’ layer that appears with a small lock icon next to it in the Layers Palette.

You will be prompted with a dialog box asking for you to name the layer – You can call it ‘Background’ again or leave it blank, it isn’t too important.

Once you have entered something in the field you can press the Enter Key or simply click OK from the dialog box. Now your layer should look like this:

Now we can modify or manipulate this layer.
Step 2

Press Command+J while the Background Layer is selected in your Layers Palette to duplicate the layer. Alternatively, you could also just drag this layer down to the New Layer icon at the bottom of the palette. Once you have done that you can turn the visibility of the original layer off so that your Layers Palette looks like the image shown below:

Step 3

What we are going to do next is remove the sky from the image so that we can place our own background into our design. To do this we will zoom in closely to our image and switch over to our Pen Tool (P) so that we can create a path. Follow along the edges of the mountains with the pen and this should go by fairly quickly depending on your level of comfort with the tool.

Once you have traced around the sky, simply close the path and then click anywhere along your path while holding down the Control Key and you should see a dropdown menu where you want to choose ‘Make Selection’ as shown here:

You should now see the marching ants that will indicate the area of the image that is currently selected. Press the Delete Key and it should remove all of the sky, revealing the transparent background below.

You can toggle the visibility of the original layer on and off to see the difference.
Step 4

Next, go to the Image Menu and select ‘Image Size’ as shown here:

We want to give ourselves the option of using this image as a desktop wallpaper so let’s make it about 1280 pixels wide. You don’t have to modify the height of the document as long as you have ‘Constrain Proportions’ checked off in the dialog box. You can go a bit larger with the dimensions, but depending on the resolution of the image you are using you don’t want to run the risk of pixelating it too much.

Step 5

Open the image of the dramatic clouds from the resources folder and import it into your document. Place the layer just below your winding road layer. You may have to scale it up a bit, or scale it down by using the Free Transform Command (Command/Ctrl+T) and dragging the image by one of the corners while holding the Shift Key.

When you are happy with the size and positioning of the sky background press the Enter Key to apply the changes.

Step 6

Next we will open the image of the car and isolate it from its background using the same method we used in Step 3 earlier on.

Once you have removed the background from the car image you can import it into your document. Place it at the top of your Layers Palette and use the Free Transform Command (Command/Ctrl+T) to rotate and scale the image accordingly so that it fits nicely into the piece.

Step 7

With the car layer selected, press Command/Ctrl+M to bring up the Curves Adjustment Dialog Box and apply a curve that looks like this:

The image below shows the car without the adjustment applied:

And this image shows the car with the adjustment:

As you can see from the screenshots, this makes quite a difference and really helps to improve the realism of the image.
Step 8

Next we are going to add a Curves Adjustment to the clouds in the background, but we are going to go about it in a different way. This is another method for applying adjustments. Click on the small white/black icon at the bottom of the Layers Palette and it will bring up a menu as shown below:

Choose ‘Curves’ from the menu and once the dialog box appears, set the curve so that it resembles the image below:

By adding an Adjustment Layer this way, it will maintain the quality of the image rather than having a gradual quality loss, which is what can happen when applying an adjustment directly to the image. The difference is that now everything below this Curves Adjustment Layer will be affected and we also have the option of using the mask to remove or add the effect to the design however we would like.
Step 9

So far we have worked on placing our images and we have begun to blend them using Adjustment Layers. Something we will need to do in order to maintain the realism we are trying to achieve is to apply a shadow underneath the car. Double click on the car layer to bring up the Layer Styles Dialog Box and apply a Drop Shadow with the settings shown below:

Once you have set the appropriate values press the Enter Key to apply the changes. You should now have something like this:

Step 10

We will now import the image of the fireworks from the resources folder and once you have it in your document, place it below the car layer and change the Blending Mode to Screen.

With your fireworks layer highlighted/selected, click the Layer Mask icon from the bottom of your palette as shown here:

Switch to your Brush Tool (B) and with a large round brush selected, paint with a solid black color into the Layer Mask of the layer containing your fireworks. The goal here is to brush out most of the streaks at the top of the image as well as the part of the image that is under the front of the car. You should now have something like this:

Step 11

To enhance the lights coming from underneath the car we have another image of some more colorful streaks of light that we will open and bring into our document. Change the Blending Mode of this layer to Screen and do a Free Transform (Command/Ctrl+T) and then click on the image while holding the Control Key to bring up a menu with various transform options. We want to use ‘Warp’ to create more of a swooping motion with the lights as shown here:

You may have to warp it a couple of times, but play around and you will get some interesting shapes. Once you find something you like, move this layer below the car layer and apply a Layer Mask using the same step as before to brush out some of the colorful lights.

Make another selection from the original colorful lights image and import it into your document. From here we will set the Blending Mode to Screen once again and use the warp option to modify the shape of the lights. Place this layer on top of the car layer so that it appears to be in the front, and mask out some of the lights on the front tire so that it looks like this:

When painting into the Layer Mask, use a soft brush at a low opacity when working around the wheels. This will give it a slightly blurred look which would be accurate for a car moving at high speeds.
Step 12

Switch to your Brush Tool (B) and select a 2 pixel hard round brush. Once you have done that, create a new layer at the top of your palette and then switch to your Pen Tool (P).

Zoom in closely to the car and using the pen, begin to trace some flowing lines that follow the shape of the car as shown here:

Once you have drawn a path that is looking pretty natural, hold the Control Key and click anywhere along the path to reveal a dropdown menu. From this menu you will want to choose ‘Stroke Path’ as seen below:

Next you should see another dialog box appear where it gives you the option to ‘Simulate Pressure’ but we do not want this checked off for this particular task. What this will do is make the line thinner or taper off near the end of the lines, but for now we want it to be an even stroke from one end of the line to the other.

Hold the Control Key again anywhere along the path and select ‘Delete Path’ to get rid of the path we made, only leaving the stroke.

Step 13

Make sure that the stroke layer is highlighted in your Layers Palette and click on the Layer Mask icon along the bottom row of icons shown here:

This will add a mask to our stroke layer enabling us to have more control over its appearance. With your stroke layer still highlighted, hold the Command (or Control Key on Windows) and click on the thumbnail of the car on the ‘Car’ layer.

Doing this sill activate the selection around the car or any other object that you do this with. You should still have your top-most layer highlighted so now, switch over to your Brush Tool (B) and with a solid black brush, begin to paint into this layers Layer Mask where you want it to be hidden.

This is a technique that we will be using in the next couple of steps. Before we create any new paths or strokes we will have to remember to set our brush to the type of line we want to create beforehand.
Step 14

Continue to create new layers and create paths with the Pen Tool before applying the brush stroke and deleting the path. When you add a Layer Mask to your brush stroke you can lower the opacity or softness of the brush to create a smoother and more gradual fade like I have done here near the wheel:

Remember, when you create a new path and stroke with the brush, you will want a thinner white brush for thin lines, but when you paint into the Layer Mask you will probably want a larger black brush. You will be doing a bit of back and forth with the Brush Tool (B) but there are a few simple shortcuts that will make it a lot easier for you.

The [ and ] brackets will vary the size of your brush so this is always good to be able to tap a key a few times rather than manually changing the size.

If you tap the D Key on your keyboard you will automatically reset your default black and white colors.

Using the actual number keys on your keyboard will set the opacity of your brush in increments of ten. For example, pressing the 5 Key will set your brush to 50% opacity.
Step 15

Keep experimenting with creating different paths both in front of the car and behind it. We don’t want to overdo it, but a few whispy lines can go a long way.

After spending some time trying different things out I have come to a point where I am happy with the number of curving lines that are in the composition. There are about ten different paths so in order to clean things up a bit I will select my top stroke layer, then hold the Shift Key and select the bottom stroke layer, and then press Command/Ctrl+G to put them into a Group Folder.

Step 16

Next, create a new layer at the top of your Layers Palette and switch over to your Gradient Tool (G). Set it to a Radial Gradient that fades from solid to transparent as shown here:

For the color, we will be using a shade of magenta – #D304FF.

Click your mouse and drag outwards on your new layer to create the gradient. Change the Blending Mode of this layer to Screen and place it towards the rear tire of the car as shown below:

Step 17

Create another new layer and make another Radial Gradient, this time using a bright yellow color such as #FADE06 and set the Blending Mode to Overlay. Place this layer above the magenta gradient that we created in the previous step.

Select another new color – Here I am using #04FFE4, which is a vibrant cyan color. Create a third Radial Gradient above the other two and set it’s Blending Mode to Screen to create a cool blending effect as seen here:

Step 18

Continue the process of creating new layers with Radial Gradients set to Screen using various colors from the light streaks. It’s good to experiment and pay attention to how the colors are effected when they are mixed together.

After covering most of the car with varied gradients in different colors, you will begin to get a cool, chameleon looking paint job that shines with lights. There is no specific order that the colors need to be placed. Playing around at this point is crucial for getting those happy accidents that can sometimes lead to a breakthrough in your design.

Step 19

Select your Background layer in the Layers Palette so that it appears highlighted. Next, click on the black and white icon along the bottom row of icons in your palette and choose ‘Hue/Saturation’ from the list that appears.

Once the settings for the Adjustment Layer appear, move the middle Saturation slider over to the left until it’s set to about -56. We want to desaturate the image a bit, but not completely here so that most of the focus remains on the car.

By doing this we are helping to keep a strong focal point because if we leave the background and foreground bright and saturated, they will compete with one another and it will become difficult to maintain a hierarchy of elements throughout the design.
Step 20

Create a new layer and what we want to do now is add some flares so create a Lens Flare from the Filter>Renders Menu and set the flare’s Blending Mode to Screen.

Next, go back to the Filter Menu, but this time choose ‘Blur>Gaussian Blur’ and apply an effect of about 3.2 pixels before pressing the Enter Key to apply the changes.

Press Command/Ctrl+J to duplicate the flares and place them in a few different spots on the car. You may also wish to use the Free Transform Command to play with the scale of the flares – make some smaller than others and vary the sizes.

Step 21

Select the top layer in your Layers Palette and then select the Adjustment Layer icon at the bottom row of icons. Select ‘Levels’ from the list that appears. This will apply a Levels Adjustment Layer that will affect every layer beneath it.

Move the left slider in so that it’s set to 15.

Once you have applied the settings you should have something like this:

Step 22

Next we want to select the clouds layer towards the bottom of the Layers Palette and then once again select the black and white Adjustment Layer icon. Select ‘Levels’ from the list once it appears.

Apply the following settings by bringing in the left slider in order to darken up the clouds and add contrast.

Step 23

Create a new layer just above the clouds layer and switch over to your Gradient Tool. With your gradient set to Linear, add five colors to the palette that cover the range of colors used in the rest of the image. Use some vibrant colors that will go from yellow to orange to blue and then to a magenta color as shown here:

Click in the bottom right hand corner and drag upwards and to the left to create the gradient. Set the Blending Mode of the gradient layer to Color and reduce the opacity to about 35%.

By doing this we are adding hints of color into the sky that reflect the palette that is used on the car.

Step 24

To add a bit more detail to our image I am thinking that incorporating some geometric shapes would add something nice. All I am going to do here is create a few white loops that are sort of scattered around the car as though they are coming off of it.

All you need to do to create one of these loops is to make a circular selection with the Elliptical Marquee Tool (M) and fill it with solid white. Once you have done that, go to the Select Menu and choose Modify>Contract. Contract the shape by about 4 pixels and hit the delete key so you are just left with a stroke.

Double click on one of the loop shape layers to bring up the Layer Styles and apply an outer glow using the color #F9FF00. Apply the settings shown below:

Hold the Control Key and click on the small ‘FX’ icon on the shape layer and when the menu appears we want to choose ‘Copy Layer Style’ to copy the glow effect.

Next, click on your other loop layers while holding the Control Key and when the menu appears select ‘Paste Layer Style’ to apply the same effect.

You can change the colors of the glow here by modifying the glow effect of the individual shapes if you choose.
Step 25

Open the nebula stock image from the resources folder and import it into your document. Make sure that it’s at the top of the Layers Palette, just underneath the Adjustment Layer and change the Blending Mode to Screen as shown here:

I have also added a Layer Mask like we did in the earlier steps to paint out the nebula in the sky so that it’s only around the car. This adds a bit of an interesting texture and additional lights that are a nice addition to our image.

Before finishing this piece up I have decided to remove a few of the flares so that you can see a bit more detail in the car and the light streaks as well. Create a Dusk landscape in Photoshop

Today we will learn how to create a Dusk landscape in Photoshop. We use simple technique in Photoshop and color brush. So let's have a look.....
Step 1

Create a new document

Step 2

File -> Place
Place the tree in your document

Step 3

With the tree layer selected go to the channels, duplicate the blue channel then click Ctrl+L to modify the levels.
Apply settings similar to mine: the task is to increase the contrast to reach a B/W image.

Step 4

Now, when the contrast is like mine, press Ctrl+I to invert the blacks with whites, then Ctrl+click on the channel's thumbnail to select it (we are selecting the whites)

Step 5

Now click on the RGB channel in the channels palette menu, and with your selection still active click on the layer mask icon. Magically our tree is masked!!
Let's make a smooth selection applying a gaussian blur to the mask.
Filter->blur->Gaussian blur

Step 6

Remain on the layer mask of the tree layer, pick up a big black brush, set the hardness to 90% and erase the parts you don't want (the ground, other foliage etc...)

Step 7

Ok our tree is ready!! =D
Right click on the layer mask -> apply layer mask.

I strongly suggest you to save this as a brush and as a shape! A tree in this quality can always be useful in the future.

Step 8

Now I choosed this source to make the job easier for this tutorial: I could have chosen a normal photo as source, but do that quickly let's use this silhouette image.

The selection here is made with the magic wand tool (W)

Step 9

After making the selection of the mum and the children, click on the layer mask, then with a big black brush let's erase what is not needed.
Always use a layer mask, never the eraser.

Step 10

Finally right click on the layer mask -> apply layer mask.

Then place the source of the boy making a cartwheel. We're going to use again the blue channel to make a neat, fast and easy masking of our subject.
Duplicate the blue channel

Step 11

Ctrl +L to open the levels. Set the arrows similar to mine. Sometimes is necessary to apply the levels more than one time: the important is to reach a B/W image (is not a image remember is a channel )

Step 12

Now the process is exactly the same we used for the tree: clean the unwanted parts (specially near the sunset and the arm) always using a black brush on the layer mask.

Step 13

Apply some blur on the layer mask to make a smooth selection (just 1 or 2 as value is ok).

Step 14

Let's make some grass now.
Create a new layer, and pick up a grass brush (is in the presets of Photoshop)
To choose it press B on your keyboard and then right click. If it's not yet in there, well load it.
Apply these settings of scattering and shape dynamics. To find these settings go to Window->Brushes (F5)

Step 15

Paint a "line" with this brush to make a very nice grass.
Then with a round black brush (you can work on the same layer, no need to create a new one) cover the blanck part at the bottom.

Step 16

Now let's make the tree and the cartwheel boy completely black (the mum and children are already black).
To do so press Ctrl+U to open Hue/Saturation and bring the lightness to zero.

Step 17

Ok you should have these layers at this point

Step 18

Let's make the color.
Choose this two layer as foregroung and background color, then on a new layer use the gradient tool to make something like that.
Check the "radial gradient" option.

Step 19

Transform each layer in a smart object so when you scale them they won't loose quality.
To do so -> right click on the layer's thumbnail->transform to smart object.
Your layers scheme should be like that now.

Step 20

To make the sun: create a new layer and make a circle with a white brush...

Step 21

...then go the blending options and apply these settings for an outer and inner glow

Step 22

Ok then convert the sun layer into a smart object and reduce the opacity of the layer to 20%.

Then place the clouds layer between the green sky layer and the other black layers.

Step 23

Then press Ctrl+Shift+U to desaturate the clouds layer.
Now that is in greyscale press Ctrl+L and increase both the whites and blacks, but not too much, just create a strong contrast.
You can also use Image->adjustments->brightness/contrast

Step 24

Ok now set the opacity to 40% and the blending mode to Soft Light.

Step 25

Now:
- Ctrl+A to select all
- Ctrl+Shift+C to copy merged (copy what we are seeing)
- Ctr+V
- Ctr+J to duplicate this "merged" layer.
Then set one to Overlay and opacity to 50%.
Finally leave the second in Normal and set opacity to 60% then apply a Gaussian Blur of 5.
Done!!!

Step 26

I added also a bird so it looks like the mum is more interested in what his son is doing, while the girl is more attracted by this eagle =D

Create a new layer having 1024×768 px and 72 dpi. Select now the Rectangle Tool (U) to represent the background for the picture to be next.

Blending Options-Gradient Overlay

Gradient’s parameters:

The new layer must be painted in white color by using the Paint Bucket Tool (G). Click after that on the next option on this layer:

Press three times on Ctrl+F. Press on the Add a Mask on the layers, Fill 50%, Blending Mode – Soft Light. The Gradient Tool will be helpful to dark out the lowest part of the picture.

Choose the Brush Tool (B) and represent the grass on a new layer (press the right button on the picture and select)

Select two colors for the brush: CCDC4A and 7FB51B from the left panel, the way it is demonstrated in the next picture. Applying smooth motions, we have to represent the hills covered with the grass.

Create Beautiful Semi-realistic Bamboo in Photoshop

In today’s you will learn how to make a beautiful semi-realistic bamboo in Photoshop It’s very simple to make. We use Photoshop texture and nice background. So let’s have a look…

Step 1: Creating a New Document

Create a new document with 800 on 600 pixels, resolution 300 dpi and a transparent background.

Step 2: Making the Texture

For texture, we do a selection with the Rectangular Marquee tool and fill it with black. After that, go to Filter> Noise> Add Noise and set to 70%, Gaussian, Monochromatic.

Step 3:

Then go to Filter> Blur> Motion Blur and set to the Angle of 0, Distance: 62 pixels. Thus we have the texture of bamboo fiber, now press Ctrl + T and reduce the height only slightly, to compress the fibers.
As you can see we have two layers, one with the texture and the second empty.

Step 4:

Let’s hide the texture layer and make a rectangular selection in the base layer, with the same size as the texture, for wich we press Ctrl + Click on the thumbnail of the texture layer. Once the selection is made, fill it with black, and open the window of Hue / Saturation by pressing Ctrl + U, we choose a green color and press OK.
Now show the texture layer and set the layer blending mode to Hard Light and then merge the layers with Ctrl + Shift + E. Press Ctrl + T to change the shape of the texture, right click on the transform area, and select Warp. With this tool, we give to the texture, the curves of bamboo.

Step 5: Volume

Now let’s use the Burn tool to add shadows in the lower side of the rod, we have to configure the tool with low exposure and a medium hardness, for me it is more convenient to use a large size in the tool.

Step 6:

After adding the shadows, let’s add the lights to get the volume. Select the Dodge tool and use it in the top side of the bamboo, with low exposure.

Step 7: Intesection

Once we have the texture and the basic form we´ll do the intersection. We will begin reducing the size of the bamboo cane by pressing Ctrl + T, and doubled it to obtain two segments, we will drag one on each other and select the tip of the rod above.
Once we have the selection, press Ctrl + T to transform and right-click on the selection, select Warp and try to make the curves of the bamboo, if the texture is broken in the process, we can use the Clone Stamp tool to repair.

Step 8:

Now we will simulate the shadow, so we will use the Burn tool to make the shadows, as seen in the image, and then use the Dodge tool for the lights.

Step 9:

Let´s repeat the step 7, here i show you how to use the Warp Transformation.

Step 10:

As we did before, we add the lights and shadows, this operation must be repeat in both tips of each cane.

Step 11: The Branchs

To draw the branch, we will use the pen tool and then convert the path to selection, fill it with black, let’s create a new layer where you draw a black rectangle. Go to Filter> Noise> Add Noise and then go to Filter> Blur> Motion Blur, as we did before to create the texture of the fibers.

Step 12:

Now we select the texture, press Ctrl+T, select Warp Transformation and put it on the branch shape, press Enter and change the branch texture layer blending mode to Hard Light. Press Ctrl+Click on the branch thumbnail to select the branch shape, invert the selection pressing Ctrl+Shift+i and delete the excess. Then merge the branch layer width the branch texture layer with Ctrl + Shift + E.

Step 13:

Let´s add the volume to the branch using the Burn Tool and the Dodge Tool as we did with the cane. Also we have to use this technique on the bamboo to simulate the branch shadow.

Step 14:

Press Ctrl+u to open the Hue/Saturation window and configure the hue, saturation and lightness to match the branch with the bamboo.

Step 15:

Now let´s draw the second segment of the branch, use the Pen Tool to draw and fill it with black, use theHue/Saturation Window to colorize it with a green tone and then, add the volume with the Burn Tool and theDodge Tool.

Step 16:

Now create a new layer called Details, and select a texturized brush with a very big size and use it on the bamboo.

Step 17:

Press on the bamboo layer thumbnail to select it, invert the selection and delete the excess.

Step 18:

Open the Hue/Saturation Window and colorize the details with a green tone.

Step 19:

Reduce the deatails layer fill to 66%.

Step 20: The Leaf

Now let´s create two layers called leaf and leaf texture, using the Pen Tool we will draw the leaf and with theRectangular Marquee Tool let´s do the texture as we did before for the bamboo and the branch.

Step 21:

Put the leaf texture over the leaf and hide it, then open the Hue/Saturation Window to colorize the leaf with green.

Step 22:

Now display the leaf texture layer, change the layer blending mode to Hard Light and reduce the fill to 47%. PressCtrl+T, choose the Warp transformation mode as steps before and adjust the fibers to the leaf form, then delete the excess.

Step 23:

Before we merge the leaf texture layer and the leaf layer, with the leaf texture layer selected press Ctrl+m to open theCurves Window, for add contrast.

Step 24:

We will duplicate the leaf and use transformation to change the leaf form, and use the Dodge Tool for add some shine.

Step 25:

To create the background, we will create a new folder called “On Focus”, and we put in the folder, the bamboo, the branch and the leaf. Then we create a new layer called BG, where using the Gradient Editor, we choose a gradient from green to black, and we apply it with the radial gradient tool.

Step 26: The Bamboo Forest

Then we will duplicate the bamboo and rotate the duplicates changing the size, to create the “bamboo forest”.

Step 27:

After that let´s crate a new folder called “Back” where we will copy the bamboo and duplicate it decreasing the size to make a back layer of forest, then go to Filter>Blur>Gaussian Blur, with a radius of 1,4 pixels and we apply it to every layer of the “back folder”.

Step 28:

Now we create a new folder called “Front” where we will repeat the step before, but this time we increase the size of the bamboo, and we will add a gaussian blur with a radius of 3,8 pixels. In these tree steps, we have simulated a camera view.

Step 29:

Let´s create an adjustment layer of curves over the “back folder”, where we will decrease the light, obscuring the back of the scene.

Step 30:

Now we will select all the layers in the “Front Folder”, hold Ctrl while selecting to add the selections, all the canes in the front must to be selected when you add a curves adjustment layer, this way photoshop will create a mask in the layer, you have to be sure the adjustment layer affects only the bamboo in the front folder, if not, you have to invert the selection in the mask. In this adjustment layer, we will increase the light.

Step 31:

Let´s add a curves adjustment layer, go to the curves panel and press on the hand button, this button allows you to manually choose a light point on the image and drag up with the mouse to increase the curve, and then choose a shadow point and drag down to decrease the shadows and add contrast to the image.

Step 32:

Finally we create a new layer called “spot” and fill it with black, choose the Elliptical Marquee Tool and make a elliptical selection, then press the right button and select Feather option and write 30 pixels, press ok and then press delete, and finally we decrease the opacity of the spot layer to 43%.

Description: Well experimenting, we found out a way to transform your digital pictures into full blown oil painting by using a few filters!

1. The first step to this tutorial, is to find a photograph you like to use this effect on. If this is your first time, we suggest you use the one we have chosen below.

2. Well, the picture we have chosen is a bit in definition of crispy. We can get rid of this 'crispy'ness' with a bit of something called gaussin blur. Depending on your pictures, you might not need to do this! But, for ours, we do! Use the setting below to blur your image! Oh yeah, to get there go to filter >> blur >> gaussin blur!

2. The picture still does not look like a painting. TO get in the big shades, we used smart blur to mix most of the colors in daubs of paint. Well, you get what we're trying to say when you do the effect! Simply go to filter >> blur >> smart blur and use to setting below.

3. And in our opinion, the picture look a bit quite dark and needs a new color 'enlightenment' before it can go to the next few processes. This is an optional step. Go and choose the color #BDB5AA for your foreground colors, and go to layer >> new >> layer or simply click shift + ctrl + N. Name it whatever you want. With the paint bucket selected, pour the paint on the new layer. It should completely cover the canvas.

3a. This is the additional step that is optional and is require if you do step 3. Now with the new layer selected, choose the blending mode to overlay.After you have set the blending mode, you will need to merge your layers! (ctrl + E)

4. The next step will give your photographs/images a brush-like feeling to your image. To get this done, you will have to use an artistic filter known as dry bushing. Go to filter >> artistic >> dry brush. Then use the setting below!

You are about done with your image.. Below is what I got. Simply use this method on other images or photographs to get the oil painting feel.

Create Winter Scene using Photoshop

1. On a new 600x600 canvas, fill in the background with a blue color. I used #009BD5.

2. With your Elliptical Marquee Tool , make a circle at the bottom left corner of your canvas. Then, press Shift and make another circle right next to it (overlap the circles). Do this until the entire bottom section is covered in overlapped circles.

3. Layer >> New >> Layer,
name it Layer 1, and fill in that selection with white on the new layer.

4. Right click on Layer 1 and Duplicate Layer. Change the opacity of Layer 1 copy to about 50% and move the layer up so its hows above Layer 1. Then, duplicate Layer 1 Copy and make that third layer's opacity about 20% and move that layer up until it shows above Layer 1 copy.

5. Layer >> New >> Layer and name it Layer 2. With the Elliptical Marquee Tool again, make a circle anywhere on the canvas.

6. Fill in that circle with white and deselection. Right click on Layer 2 in the Layers Palette, Duplicate Layer. With Layer 2 copy, go to Edit >> Transform >> Scale and make it 70% smaller than its original by changing the numbers in the white boxes at the top of the screen.

7. Duplicate Layer 2 copy and repeat Step #6.

8. Move Layer 2 copy above Layer 2 and then move Layer 2 copy 2 above Layer 2. Now you should have a snowman.

9. Select Layer 2 copy 2, and press CTRL+E to merge it down with Layer 2 copy. Then, select Layer 2 copy and press CTRL+E to merge it down with Layer 2. Now your snowman is only on one layer. Move it down to the snow.

10. Layer >> New >> Layer and name it Layer 3. With the Polygonal Lasso Tool , make a sort of tree shape on your canvas.

11. Fill in the selection with white. Deselect. With your Magic Wand Tool , select the area around the tree. Then, go

to Select >> Modify >> Expand and set it to 2 pixels. Then, go to Select >> Modify >> Smooth and set it to 2 pixels also. Press Delete, Deselect, and now your tree looks smoother

12. Layer >> New >> Layer and name it Layer 4. With your Brush Tool , and several differently sized, rounded brushes, make little snow patterns in the sky. Don't overcrowd the sky, though.

13. Right click on Layer 4 in your Layers Palette, duplicate it, and then move it around on the canvas. Repeat this about two more times, and change the opacity of some of the layers to about 70%-90% too. This step helps cuts back on your work to put snow in the sky. Snow in the sky is very important because snow is the main element of winter -- unless your in California!

1. Open a new document. Create a number of different shapes, either seperate or connected to each other. Hold down the Shift Key so that you can make more than one shape at a time, without deselecting others. Fill the shape with White.

2. Press Ctrl+A to Select All. Go to Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur.

3. Set the Radius to 5.5 and click OK. To make corners less rounded reduce the radius number, To make more rounded, increase the number.

4. The Shape should look like this.

5. Press Ctrl+L to bringup Levels dialog box. Apply a setting.( I used input levels to 125, 1.00, and 140)

6. The shape should look like this.

7. Select a texture to fill.

8. Press Ctrl+A to select all and then choose Edit » Define Pattern.

9. Save the pattern.

10. Go to the Channels Palette and CTRL+Click on channel you made to load the selection.

11. Go back to the Layers Palette and make a new layer.

12. Select Edit >Fill > Pattern to fill the selection with the texture.

13. In fill Dialog box select the twirls pattern and click OK.

14. This is the final image.

Summary :
This Photoshop tutorial teaches you to create a shoe Icon. The dimensions used in this tutorial is : width 300px, height 300px and resolution 72px. This tutorial clearly demonstrates the use of Pen Tool. At the end of this tutorial you will be able to master the pen tool and create the custom shapes of your own like the one shown below, rather than hunting for them on the net.

Before starting the tutorial lets get familiar with the pen tools (P):

Pen Tool : This tool is used to create straight lines, curves (arc) or ‘S’ shaped curves. Using these technique we can create more complex shapes.
Freeform Pen Tool : This tool is used to create freeform shapes.
Add Anchor Point Tool : This tool is used to add anchor points between any two points.
Delete Anchor Point Tool : As the name indicates, this tool is used to delete points between two anchor points.
Convert Point Tool : Using this tool we can convert the shapes into anchor points.

First lets create a new document of dimension 335x335px of resolution 72px and with background color #ffff00
Select the Pen Tool (P). From the layer options panel set the color to Black.
Using pen tool draw the shoe shape as shown in the image below. Name this layer as shoe. While using the Pen tool, press alt key and click on the anchor point to get the next curve otherwise the second curve will result in ‘S’ curve instead of an arc. You should draw the shoe as shown in the image. If you face any problem in getting a good shape, copy the image below, open it in photoshop and draw on the points shown in the image.

Once you draw the shoe outline the layer palette should look like the image below

Press x to change the background color to foreground color and now your foreground color will be white. Using pen tool draw the custom shape as shown in the images. You can copy the images and paste in the Photoshop to get the desired shape, incase you have any problem.
Next we will create the Soul part of the shoe using pen tool. You should create the shape as shown in the image below:
Next we will create foot part of the shoe. Try to create a shape similar to the one shown in the image below. You can add or delete the anchor points using the Add / Delete Anchor Point Tool
Next we will create top / leg part of the shoe. You should draw a shape as shown below. While working on smaller shapes always zoom up say to 400% or higher, and create the shapes. This will enable you to easily position the points and the resulting shape will also be sharper when reduced to its original size.
The next series of images will show how to draw the lace for the shoe. Zoom up your document while working on this part and try to position your point carefully to get a perfect shape.

5. Draw 3 more shapes as shown in the image below to get the folds for the shoe. You can always edits the points / alter the angle of the curves in the shape by using the Convert Point Tool.
We will next create the mouth for out shoe. Draw the shape as shown in the image below and don’t forget to use the alt button to get a perfect curve.
Next we will focus on creating the inner parts of the mouth like base and teeth. Using pen tool and foreground color as #ffffff draw the base as shown in the image below
We will now create the tooth for the shoe. Draw the tooth as shown in the image below.
Next create duplicate layer of the tooth shape and press ctrl + T. Right click on the shape and select flip vertically. Position the layer as shown in the image below. You should rotate the shape and increase the height to get the shape of the image shown below.
Follow the step 11 and draw the next tooth for the shoe. Press Ctrl + T right click on the shape and select flip horizontally to get the position as shown in the image .below.
Follow the step 11 and draw the next tooth for the shoe. Press Ctrl + T right click on the shape and select flip vertically to place it in the position as shown in the image below.
Again follow the step 11 to draw the next tooth and position it as shown in the image below:
Next create the shape with the pen tool as shown in the image below:
We will then create the last tooth repeating the step 12 and position it as shown below.
Finally using brush tool set the master diameter to 2px and color to white and draw some rough strokes to get the folds for the shoe. Your final image should look like the one below.

1. First of all open a new document. I am going to use 400 by height 200 but you can take any size depending on your requirements.

2. Here with the help of Text Tool type some words.

3. Now here with the Rectangular Marquee Tool, create a rectangle, and after that select a new Layer in the Layer window. Now fill the color with the Gradient Tool, as you can see in the image below,and deselect[ctrl+D].

4. Here Double click on the Text Layer > select Stroke size-3 and opacity-100 and then click ok.

5. Now the Text will look like this, as you can see in the image below.

6.Now select Layer 1 > select Filter > select Stylize and then select Wind. Make the selection as shown below. Press ok when done. Try to play with different method and variation. Lets see what you come up with.

Night scene on a highway with street light

Today we are going to create a Night scene on the street or highway with street light and a Car.

1. First of all open a new document. Here I have used document size- width-300 / height-300 and resolution of 96.

2. Now with the Paint Bucket Tool Fill Black color and press Alt+Backspace.

3.Now with the Rectangular Marquee Tool create a rectangle same as you can see below. Now select New Layer1 in the Layer window.

4. Here select Gradient Tool > select Gradient Editor. You can get an idea where to click from the image below.

5. Select color from here.

6. Now with the Gradient Tool fill the color and deselect (ctrl+D).

7. Press ctrl+T and with the mouse, drag the corners of the transform selection. Press Enter when done.

8. Press ctrl+J to make a copy of the Layer1

9. Now with the help of Transform selection make the shape smalland put them in the order as shown below.

10. Here merge all the copied Layer using Pressing ctrl+E.

11.Now select New Layer2 > select Brush Tool > select Preset Picker > select brush 50 Starburst small, as you can see in the Image below.

12. Now for the nearest light use Brush size 300and after that 200 then 175 then 125. Use the Brush according to the light size.

13. Now our Image will look like this.

14. Here with the Polygonal Lasso Tool create a New shape as shown below > select New Layer > fill color with the Gradient Tool. To Deselect use (ctrl+D).

15. Now select Custom Shape Tool select Car from list.

16. Here select a New Layer with the Custom shape create a new shape. As you can see in the Image below.

17. Now here select Pen Tool > Right click > Make Selection > fill the color with the Gradient Tool as shown below.

18. Here with the Brush Tool, give the same Effect to the car light as you gave in step 11.

19. Final Image.

Photoshop tutorial for garden website header.

Description: Great photoshop tutorial where I have used techniques to show you how to design or create a gardening or flower theme website header.

1. First of all to open a new Document. Go to Menu, select
File > new and then a new document will appear.
In the new Document type the name of the document and then
specfy the size width = 600 pixel, height = 200 pixel and
resolution = 96 pixel/inch. You can do it with the
file new > then press Ctrl+N.

2. Now select Rectangular Marquee Tool from the Toolbar.

3. Now here create a Rectangle with the Rectangular Marquee Tool as shown below.

4. Now create a new Layer1, to create a new layer click
on the icon that is shown with the hand sign in the Layer
window or press Shift+Ctrl+N.

5. In the Toolbar click on the Foreground color which is shown with the arrow.

6. When you click on the Foreground you will get the Color Picker choose color code # 7EBA26 from there.

7. Now here press Alt+Backspace to fill the color and then Deselect.

8. Select PenTool from the Toolbar.

9. Create a new shapw with the Pen Tool and then Right click > Make Selection > select Feather1px > click ok.

10. Press Alt+Backspace
and fill the color code #
9CD064 and then Deselect.

11. Double click on the Layer1 for Layer style.

12. In the Layer style select Inner Shadow with the Opacity-46% / Distance-5px / Choke-4% / Size-8px.

13. Now select Bevel and Emboss with the Depth-100 % Size-5px . Soften-9px. In the shading select Opacity-26% and 36% and then click ok.

14. Now the Image will look like this as shown below.

15. In the Tool bar click on the icon below foreground color which is shown with the red circle.

16. Now here click on the red circle to choose the white color.

17. Now select Text Tool from the Toolbar.

18. Type some words on the created Image.

19. Here select any picture of Flower or Leaves and select it with the help of Pen Tool.

20. Now press Ctrl+V and then select Move Tool from the Toolbar and with the help of Moove Tool put the selected Leaves picture on the Image.

21. Now press Ctrl+T and push the corners of Transform selection with the help of Mouse to make it small then press Enter.

22. Here drag the Layer2 and put it under Layer1.

23. Here Press Ctrl+J to make the copy of Leaves and Flower and then in the Layer window select the Layer which is on the top press Ctrl+E to merge all the Layer.

24. Now press Ctrl+J to make a copy of Final Image as shown below.

25. Now our image has completed.

[6] Now goto Filter>Blur>Gussian Blur of the property given in the image it is used to make it smooth.

[7] Take the smudge tool and make it smooth more as shown in the image.

[8] Merge both the layer and use the burn tool on the edges to make it more realistic.

[9] Take the darker colour and use it on the edges to make it beautiful. Now take the irregular brush with light green colour and use it as shown in the image below.

[10] You must use it in a new layer and use
colour from the blending mode and adjust the
opacity with your image.

[11] Again take the brush tool and make the spots in a new
layer of white colour and give the blending mode
Soft light and make it opacity 60 % your image will be like this.

[12] Now take the which is shown in the image and adjust the settings given below.

[13] Make the shape like this with the brush tool .

[14] Take the smudge tool of the setting given below.

[15] And use it in this way that your feather look more realistic.

[16] After the smudge tool your image will be look like this.

[17] Make the copy of it and adjust it as in the image.

[18] Take the darker colour and fill it in the centre with the brush tool and stretch it with the smudge tool it will look like this.

[19] Make selection with the pentool and fill the colour as in the image.

[20] Use the smudge tool and and make it more realistic.

[21] Click on the layer to make the selection.

[22] Now goto Select>Modify>Contract and give the reading of 6 pixels, the selection will be like this.

[23] Give the feather of reading given below.

[24] Fill the black colour to it.

[25] Use the smudge tool to make its nerves like this.

[26] Adjust the opacity so that it look more realistic.

[27] Your image will be like this.

[28] Merge both the layer and make its copy adjust it like in the image.

[29] Use the smudge tool to make it more realistic.Final image will be like this.

[30] You can also change the colour and your image will be look like this.

Draw a photo frame picture frame border for scrapbook project

In this photoshop tutorial I have used techniques - how to use photoshop tools to draw or design a photo frame or a wooden frame around an image or picture for your photo.Museum quality photo frame , perfect frame , digital picture frame, photo albums

[1] First of all I have taken a new file of height = 400 pixels, width = 400 pixels
and resoulation of 72 dpi in the RGB mode.

[2] First choose any picture.

[3] Make a new layer from the layer pallete.

[4] Fill the new document with any color.

[5] Click Filter>Noise>Add Noise
Apply the following settings.

[6] Now go to Filter>Brush Strokes>Crosshatch
Apply the following settings.

[6] Your image will look like this.

[7] Now arrange the layers so they look like this.

[8] Make a new layer from the layer pallete.

[9] Select the rectagular marqee tool from the tool pallete and
draw the rectangle in the file as shown below in the fig.

[10] Apply the following settings.

[11] Now use the reflected gredient as shown in the image below.

[12] Your image will look like this.

[13] Again select the rectagular marqee tool from the tool pallete
and draw the rectangle in the file as shown below in fig.

[14] Apply the following settings.

[15] Make the copy of layer 3 in the layer pallte.

[16] Go to Edit>Transform Flip Horizontal
your image will now look like this.

[17] Make the copy of layer 3 in the layer pallte.

[18] Go to Edit>Transform Rotate 90'CW

[19] Make the copy of layer 3 copy 2 in the layer pallte.

[20] Go to Edit>Transform Rotate 180

[21] Now arrange the layers in the layer menu in the order below.

[22] Your image will look like this.

[23] Now take the polygonal lasso tool and make the selections
and delete that area from the image.

[24] Again take the polygonal lasso tool and make the selections
and delete that area from the image.

[26] Select the rectagular marqee tool from the tool pallete
and delete the selection area from the image.

How to create broken or wrecked satin nickel brushed metal

[1] Take a new file of 400 pixels, 400 pixels, of resolution 72 dpi in the RGB mode.

[2] Take the text tool from the tool pallete.

[3] Type any ward would you like make the background white
and the text grey as shown below

[4] Go to Bevel & Emboss layer style
apply the following settings.

[5] Your image should be look like this.

[6] Now go to layer pallete right click to Create Layers
as shown fig. below.

[7] Now your layer pallete
should be look like this.

[8] Change the Blending mode
see in the next image.

[9] Your text should be look like this.

[10] Now select the text layer
as shown fig. below.

[11] Now go to Filter>Blur>Motion Blur
apply these settings.

[12] Now add little drop shadow Layer>Layer Style>Drop Shadow

[13] Now your image look like this.

[14] Now go to Layer Pallete and right click on your orignal text layer
Rasterize Layer see in the next image.

[15] Now create a new layer on the layers pallete.

[16] Use the rectangle marquee tool and make a small rectangular selection
and fill it with black on the new layer. DO NOT deselect yet.

[17] Then go to Select >Modify>Expand apply the
following setting. DO NOT deselect yet.

[18] Now go to Filter>Pattern Maker
apply the following settings.

[19] Your image should be look like this.

[20] The Hide (by clicking on the eyeicon next to the layer) Patter Layer,
and click on the text layer to make it the working layer see in the next image.

[21] Now with the Move tool selected from the tool pallete
use arrows on your keyboard, move to the left 5 times and down twice.

[22] Now you can Deselete (Cntl+D).
Your image should be look like this.

[23] The go to Image>Adjustment>Brightness/Contrast
apply these settings.

[24] Your image should be look like this.

[25] This text can be placed on any colored background.
