Rocky - Rocky is tolerable

A musical love story from famous editor Nagendra Urs in his second directorial venture is good in parts. Firstly the protagonist Yash is convincing in his first film as full length hero, secondly the songs in the film are impressive, thirdly Bienca Desai in her debut is very promising and she is in the range of Bollywood. She looks like Kareena Kapoor in some angles.

What is lacking is the urge the hero makes to another guy to love his lover. This is stupid and one cannot digest. Without understanding the repercussions of such thread in the story Nagendra Urs has made a futile attempt.

Rocky is not a careless although his busy parents have left him free. He is studios and a rank holder. The top ranking he gets in education is not possible for him to achieve in his love life. He is bowled over by the beauty of Usha. Usha is not reciprocating. She is impressed with Vishwas a guitarist. At this point of Rocky goes to the extreme of asking Vishwas the top class musician to love his lover Usha. On the one side he has not been able to impress her and secondly without knowing the consequences of doing so he urge for Vishwas to love Usha only to keep her happy. When the situation becomes 'Ulta' (Rocky is under the impression that Vishwas may not fall in love) and goes out of hands Rocky makes his own ideas to get his fiancé to his side. The rest is quite interesting part to watch on the screen.

Yash is promising and punching in his first action, musical and emotional cinema. He is at ease in all the areas except emotions. A handsome guy has entered the hero slot in Kannada cinema. Bienca Desai is a treat to watch in the song sequences. She looks partially Kareena Kapoor and her perfect body language is an asset for her. Santosh, Jaijagdeesh, Padmaja Rao, Girija Lokesh extended good support.

The melody is not missing from duo music directors Venkat and Narayan. The song Vallara Valla…is very racy. Sudhakar in his debut as cameraman is not impressive.

Developing the idea of stealing the greatest antique value property of the state 'Golden Howdah' of Mysore Palace is a major disappointing issue to the people of Karnataka. It is a shame to play with the highly adorable social and cultural value of the state. Toogudeepa Productions headed by Darshan and Dinakar have to take the blame for such obnoxious thought. Slapping on the face and then asking 'Sorry' is not acceptable. The effect of stealing the 'Golden Howdah' is nothing but a consolation. It is routine.

Being Mysoreans how come Darshan and Dinakar think of robbing the 'Golden Howdah' for the subject. However the planning made to steal the Golden Howdah looks well below the average. Dialogues are crisp from Chintan. The IT and BT industry is also involved in other form of smuggling should have been avoided by the dialogue writer.

Jaggu (Darshan) is the master mind behind the whole smuggle of Golden Howdah. He has taken up big challenges in the nefarious field and international smugglers give this task to him. Jaggu accepts the deal for 20 million and his demand is that the money should be transferred to his account when the stealing news is transferred. For doing this anti social activity Jaggu gets the help of eight smart persons. All the eight are expert in one way or the other. Combined in a den they sketch the plan of going underground to reach one of the three main entrances. The 'Navagraha' team selects the Simha Garjane entrance to succeed in their task of replacing the original with duplicate Golden Howdah made out of wood. The Golden Howdah is transported in a state owned transport bus to the Mangalore harbor. On the way the gang of nine 'Navagraha' faces the tough task. The difference of opinion crops up among them and that leads to furious situation. In the end the police headed by Bhagath attack the smugglers in a helicopter to save the pride of the state 'Golden Howdah'. All the 'Navagrahas' die in the process.

This is anti hero image for challenging star Darshan. There are chances of him getting the villain award his long cherished ambition too. Dharma Keerthiraj is a surprise package. Giri Dinesh brings in good comedy, Tarun is apt as software techie, Srujan Lokesh is precise for his role, Nagendra Urs is OK, we see action king tiger Prabhakar in his son Vinod Prabhakar, two lovely heroines Sharmila Mandre and Varsha have nothing much to do.

V Harikrishna has been able to churn out only one melody Kan Kan Selege….. Krishnakumar cinematography maintains the mood needed for the film flow.
