Bill, you are awesome. You have faith, but your faith helps you hear other perspectives. It's not that we need big government to take over our lives, it's just that Health Care has to evolve.

The way to solve health care-- produce a reality tv game show.

Five key democrats and five key republicans. Lock em in a room, big brother style. Or a desert island.

No lobbyists, no media, just 24/7 cameras on them. They can have food and sleep.

Goal of the game: come up with a plan for health care.

Various plans voted on through audience voting and texts.

First plan to get a 2/3rds approval rating wins.

The hook: they don't come up with a plan, they don't get out.

The giant sharks encircling the facility or island are released upon them if there's no plan after 3 months.

No town hall meetings, no endless debate, no lies and rumors. Just pure reality television democracy.

Taking risks or being risky? the dullness of the Christian tube

"It's good to take risks, but to live risky can be a problem," a friend used to say to me.

Last night I watched about an hour of Christian television (mo'star is still the best) and then my wife pointed me to Sky Anytime, where "Shine A Light" was on demand. What a brilliant concert film, it really captures the Stones in their ancient age, along with some brilliant cinematography, freakin' awesome.

I have to say I enjoyed it more, at least in a material sense, than 90% of the religious media I've seen. Yeah, yeah you are gonna say "well, its the flesh Roy, of course the Stones are exciting." But that is not what I mean.

Why is the continual stream of Christian stuff I watch so dull, so not-risky, standard television?

As an example, when people watched the outpouring from Lakeland, or the Breakout meetings at Mo'Star, there was something about it that was a gamble-- not only did you get a sense of participation from it, but you never knew what would happen next. Somebody getting healed? Somebody going into a trance? getting a word? It created an excitement.

You'd think that we could do more of that. Jesus' earthly ministry was one that caused acclaim and persecution, ecstasy and controversy-- where's the church in creating art that causes a stir and speaks into culture?

We can take risks without being risky, and be wise while being shrewd and transmit brilliance rather than the normal and expected fare.

The future is Orange

Second ride with the Orange Brompton through the canal. This time I ventured onto the Abbey Road and then alongside Regents Park, before zipping down to the Canal and Camden.

I don't know which traffic is more hazardous-- the street or the canal. Yes you've got trucks, cabs and bus topside, but canal-side I had to maneuver my way through pedestrians, dogs, and speeding mohawk-wearing mountain bikers whooshing passed me. It was like taking a cab ride in Istanbul, only worse 'cos at least in Istanbul, the drivers know there's no limits and don't have to wear a helmet. And here you've got only 3 feet wide of road to fly on.

I had a deep thought, as usual, while riding. Here I am pedaling away and singing a Guns N Roses song to myself, but I stopped my internal radio and thought, man it'd be great if I could just sing to some worship tunes or something. But am I not worshipping God by just bike riding, exercising and enjoying the world? I hate to go Celtic on everyone here, but isn't everything an act of worship, whether I've got an Axl Rose jam or a Roy Fields CD in my heart?

Orange Ride

Took my orange fold-away brompton into camden for the first time today.

I cycled from the place of my wife's work near paddington station, onto the highly intricate canal system, where I took a wrong turn. Instead of Camden Lock I ended up in Willesden Junction near what seemed a secret government nuclear industrial estate. Passed a few vagrants that I know will end up in a script as a wise-old man archetypal character.

I spun around, found my way again through an amazingly green journey back towards paddington, then onto Camden.

Now I'm back at the office, editing everyone's favorite sock puppet, Szark.

If you notice this G found on a northern line train had to have been moved recently- why would anyone move a G? What would the purpose be?

Anyhow it left it's mark on the train. It's just one of the London tube mysteries we may neve fully understand.
