DMX's Jail Time Extended Over Alleged Drug Violation

It sounds like rapper DMX will have to wait at least another week to get his latest attempt at a career reboot off the ground. According to TMZ, the MC (born Earl Simmons) was ordered to stay in prison for another week after authorities allegedly caught him with drugs.

X, 40, has been housed at a state prison in Yuma, Arizona, since January, and according to the gossip site, he has broken a number of rules over the past month, including drug possession, failing or refusing a drug test, smoking in an unauthorized area, acting disrespectfully to the staff and engaging in disorderly or disruptive conduct. Of the seven alleged disciplinary infractions since January, four have come since June 12, with two more in April for alleged drug possession and disorderly conduct, and another in January for unauthorized smoking.

Due to his latest infractions, the troubled rapper — who had been slated to be released Wednesday — will spend at least another week in prison, according to the Associated Press. His new release date is July 19. He was sent back to prison in December for a probation violation after an arrest in November for failing to check in with his probation officer.

Around December 20, X was reportedly transferred to a mental-health unit after the judge in his case described him as having an "undiagnosed mental condition," before ordering him back to prison for one year.

X's lawyer, Gary Jenkins, told MTV News that he is still looking into the alleged violations, but that the rapper's reported refusal to take a mandatory drug test did result in a seven-day hold that will delay his release until July 19. Jenkins said he did not yet have information about the alleged drug possession, but that he is hopeful his client will get the help he needs to work on his drug addiction issues when he is released. "I hope that this time he understands that his addiction can't be dealt with privately," Jenkins added.

The rapper's manager, Nakia Walker, said that after years of battling with the authorities and getting caught in a revolving door between his home and jail in the state, she senses that X wants to leave Arizona and get a fresh start. "Prison was never a place for Earl because he has a sickness," she said. "If he is medicated properly, he wouldn't have the need for drugs." Current plans call for X to drop his new single, "Y'all Don't Know," featuring Busta Rhymes, within the next two to three weeks.

Johnny Depp Eying Paul Revere, Dante And More

Though he certainly could happily retire on his "Pirates" loot, never let it be said that Johnny Depp is not one of the hardest-working men in Hollywood.

This week, news broke of three new potential Depp projects in early discussions. Though he has commitments to Tim Burton's "Dark Shadows" remake and Gore Verbinski's "The Lone Ranger" update at the moment, and has said he would consider future installments of the "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise, it sounds like Depp is trying to keep himself busy for the foreseeable future.

Deadline reports that two of the movies are being set up with Disney (Depp's go-to company these days). The first is a feature film version of "The Night Stalker," a 1970s TV horror movie and series that tells the story of tabloid reporter Carl Kolchak after he stumbles upon a series of supernatural killers. The second is an untitled Paul Revere film that Depp is working on with "Batman Forever" writers Lee and Janet Batchler. It would follow Revere during the 24-hour time period in which he made his legendary midnight ride to warn the revolutionaries that the British were coming. Depp would potentially star as the lead in both films.

And earlier this week, "Miral" director Julian Schnabel let slip the other bit of Depp news during an interview with The Playlist, when he stated that the "Pirates" star had approached him about an adaptation of "In the Hand of Dante." Depp had purchased film rights to the book by Nick Tosches several years ago and asked Schnabel to consider it as his next project. It's not clear if Depp would star in the movie.

"I'm not going to make it for a couple of years," Schnabel said of the adaptation of the novel, which weaves the story of the 14th century poet and that of a contemporary writer caught up in the potential black market sale of Dante's "Divine Comedy" manuscript. "We're gonna work on writing it, developing it. We didn't sign anything. It's just something Johnny asked me to read, and I think it's a great book, so maybe you should read it. It's pretty beautiful. It's about everything."

Real Spit: DJ Drama's Gangsta Grillz mixtape series gets a bad rap. Not in a qualitative sense — actually the Atlanta-based DJ has many well-regarded mixtapes under his belt with the likes of Young Jeezy, Gucci Mane and T.I., all which conjure up imagery of Southern trap houses, where drug-dealing raps dominate. So when New York-based lyricist extraordinaire Jean Grae announced that she would be partnering up with Mr. Gangsta Grillz for her latest mixtape, Cookies or Comas, many hip-hop purists let out a collective groan.

"He's definitely a hip-hop dude, and perception is always very interesting," Grae told Mixtape Daily. "It was interesting to see the reaction to people, even just announcing the mixtape before even putting out. It was already like, 'I don't wanna hear it.' I'm like, 'Really? You're kinda just making an uninformed decision. You can't say no to something, you haven't even heard it yet, you haven't even tried.' "

Cookies or Comas is vintage Jean. In addition to her playful flows and humorous ad-libs, Grae brought her celebrated lyrics to the table as well. On "R.I.P." featuring Styles P and Talib Kweli, JG trades bars with the two veteran rappers over a hard-hitting Run DMC-sampling beat. She then recruits Pharoahe Monch for the punch-line packed "Killing Em," proving that she hasn't switched up a thing.

"What was great about it was after getting it, they were like, 'Oh well, that's not what I expected at all, and I'm sorry. I'm really, really sorry. I thoroughly enjoyed it,' " Grae said mockingly. "It was great to kind of watch people apologize for it. You don't have to say that you love it, but at least give something a chance without going to a snap judgment. I think it was a great idea, and of course it opened me up to another audience that probably wouldn't have any idea that that mixtape came out at all. It kind of brought a couple of worlds together."

R. Kelly Reportedly Facing Foreclosure On Mansion

The foreclosure crisis has left millions of homeowners across the nation in danger of losing their homes, but would you believe that Grammy-winning singer R. Kelly is one of them?

According to Crain's Business Chicago, Kelly is facing a $2.9 million foreclosure lawsuit on his suburban Chicago mansion over claims that he has failed to make mortgage payments on the home since June 2010.

The suit was filed in Cook County Circuit Court last month by JPMorgan Chase Bank over the 11,140-square-foot home built by Kelly in the south suburb 11 years ago. Kelly has reportedly not lived in the home for more than a year and he is said to have stopped making payments on the mortgage in an attempt to force the bank to negotiate a loan modification on the 3.7-acre property, which has six full bathrooms, seven half bathrooms and a four-car garage.

The appraised value of the home fell 26 percent last year to $3.8 million, compared to $5.2 million in 2009, making it now worth less than the debt owed on it. The original loan issued for the home in 1999 was for $3.5 million and the current balance due is more than $2.9 million, not including unpaid interest, which is rolling up at a rate of $251 per day.

Kelly's spokesperson could not be reached for comment at press time. While he declined to comment on the foreclosure, he told The Associated Press on Tuesday that the "I Believe I Can Fly" singer is not in financial trouble.

The financial issues don't appear to have slowed Kels down any, as the singer showed support for his choice for MTV News' Song of the Summer recently when he jumped on a remix of Britney Spears' "Till the World Ends."

Beyonce's 4 Holds On To Billboard #1

Make it a double for Beyoncé. After debuting with the lowest first-week totals of her solo career last week with 4, the "Best Thing I Never Had" singer will make it two in a row at the top next week when her latest holds on to the #1 slot thanks to sales of 115,000.

Though Bey's sales were down a bracing 63 percent (with a two-week total just shy of 426,000), that is more than enough to hold off this year's chart queen, Adele, whose five-month-old smash, 21, holds steady at #2 thanks to another 79,000 units moved. That pushes her total to date to nearly 2.6 million, according to figures provided by Nielsen SoundScan.

The ladies rule a female-heavy top 10 that features just one new entry, R&B singer Lloyd's King of Hearts, which sneaks in at #10 on sales of 26,000.

The rest of the top 10: Selena Gomez & the Scene, When the Sun Goes Down (#3, 44,000), Jason Aldean, My Kinda Party (#4, 42,000), Bad Meets Evil, Hell: The Sequel (#5, 35,000), Jackie Evancho, Dream With Me (#6, 34,000), Jill Scott, Light of the Sun (#7, 32,000), Lady Gaga, Born This Way (#8, 30,000) and Big Sean, Finally Famous (#9, 27,000).

It was an otherwise quiet week for new releases, with most of the top 40 suffering double-digit drops in sales. Among those losing some significant business: Bon Iver, whose Bon Iver is down 39 percent to 24,000, "American Idol" winner Scott McCreery, whose digital EP slips nine spots in its second week as sales tanked by 65 percent, fellow "Idol" champ David Cook, whose second album, This Loud Morning, drops 19 slots to #26 in its second go-round as business fell by 74 percent, and this year's "Idol" runner-up, Lauren Alaina, whose EP shed 47 percent of last week's figures to land at #35.

It seems that few of Limp Bizkit's fans have hung around for their long-promised comeback album, Gold Cobra, as sales took a nosedive in week two. The LP falls 40 slots to #56 as sales tailed off by 72 percent (8,000).Beyoncé has to settle for second-best on the iTunes albums chart, as Adele triumphs, pushing Bey to #2, followed by Bad Meets Evil, Mumford & Sons' Sigh No More, Bon Iver, Big Sean, We the Kings' Sunshine State of Mind, Gomez, Aldean and Gaga.

You can tell it's summer on the iTunes singles chart, as party starters LMFAO take the pole position with "Party Rock Anthem," which pushes Katy Perry's "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)" to #2, followed by Nicki Minaj's "Super Bass," Pitbull's "Give Me Everything," OneRepublic's "Good Life" and Adele's monster single, "Rolling in the Deep." At #7 is Hot Chelle Rae's "Tonight Tonight," and then Lil Wayne's "How to Love," Aldean's "Dirt Road Anthem" and Gaga's "The Edge of Glory."

Beyoncé's chart reign is likely to end next week as a raft of new titles hits shelves. They include the hyped latest from "The Voice" breakout hosting star Blake Shelton, as well as new albums from Incubus, Colbie Caillat, Chris Young and Ashton Shepherd.

RZA Teases Unreleased ODB Material

Wu-Tang Clan ain't nothin' ta eff wit, and neither are the RZA's beats. While in Berlin promoting his new headphone line, Chambers by RZA, the Wu producer told MTV News that he has given beats to a number of hip-hop artists, including Nas, Busta Rhymes and Ludacris, as well as his cousin and Wu-partner GZA for his Liquid Swords 2 album.

"Me and GZA talked about doing Liquid Swords part 2, a sequel. We talked about it for a while," RZA said about the follow-up to GZA's 1995 album. "We actually started a little bit and then we pulled back based on scheduling, based on my movie."

RZA's love affair with Hollywood is no secret. As an actor, Bobby Digital has appeared in "American Gangster" alongside Russell Crowe and has recently been cast in "G.I. Joe: Cobra Strikes." RZA has also been hard at work directing "The Man With the Iron Fists," a movie set in feudal China that will star Russell Crowe, Pam Grier and Lucy Liu.

"The movie has taken me out of the loop of music. But what I have been doing, I've been going to studios and inviting people to my studio. So I went to the studio with Luda and I emptied beats from my beat machine for him. Whether he use it or not is up to him, but I just been emptying out my beat machines," RZA said before revealing more of his collaborative hopefuls. "I emptied out some beats on Busta, I emptied out some beats on Nas, emptied out some beats for [Ghostface Killah] and for Wu-Tang Clan — just sent them 20 beats a few weeks ago."

Though he is very passionate about making movies at the moment, RZA knows music is what got him where he is today. "I really want to put a lot of my energy into film, but I know that I got here because of music and I know people dig my music. And I'm like, 'Why not put the music out there too?' "

Judging from his activity, it is a safe bet that fans can hear a lot of new RZA music in the near future, but anyone expecting to hear collaborations between the producer and his cousin, the late Ol' Dirty Bastard, shouldn't get their hopes up. While the Abbot does confirm that he has plenty of unreleased Ol' Dirty material, releasing those tunes would be quite difficult.

"That's a very tricky situation, because ODB has passed and he has an estate," he said. "When you got an estate, it's so much paperwork and red tape and legal stuff you gotta deal with. I tried to put out a song last year called 'Dirt's the Boogie,' and they threatened me with an injunction and I wrote the lyrics to the song. Made the beat, wrote the lyrics and Dirty just performed it."

Instead of holding onto the work, though, RZA is contemplating leaving the unheard recordings to Dirty's son when the time is right. "I will tell the fans, I do have a few 2-inch reels of material nobody has but me. I don't know what I'll do with it," he said. "Maybe in time I'll just give it to his son, I don't know."

It's been a difficult year for Cali Swag District, and on Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET, CSD will stop by "RapFix Live" with host Sway to discuss it all.

After losing group hypeman M-Bone to a drive-by shooting on May 15, the remaining three members — C-Smoove, JayAre and Yung — were left to carry on for their fallen comrade. Rather than fall back, the trio have been going harder, releasing their debut, The Kickback, on Tuesday (July 12). The album is anchored by the group's hit single "Teach Me How to Dougie."

Throughout the ordeal, fans have seen a myriad of emotions from Cali Swag District. There was the pain the trio expressed during M-Bone's memorial service. But in the aftermath, CSD have remained resilient as well, vowing to march on and represent for their fallen partner. Cali Swag will be taking your questions via Twitter, @MTVRapFix with the hashtag #rapfixlive, so tune in Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET on MTV.com.

We'll also celebrate the 20th anniversary of "Boyz N the Hood," the groundbreaking, John Singleton-directed film that starred Ice Cube, Cuba Gooding Jr., Morris Chestnut and Nia Long.

'Harry Potter' Finale: Why Did Rupert Grint Walk Out?

Spoiler alert: "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2" is a tearjerker.

While fans already expect to walk into the theater Friday with a box of tissues in hand, the "Potter" stars were a bit surprised to find that watching the final film in the series could bring them to tears — or at least make them choke up. Viewers will likely find the movie emotional on two levels, because the story itself has tragic elements and because its release marks the end of a decade-long film series.

Even though the actors finished filming the movie more than a year ago, they said there were still scenes in "Deathly Hallows, Part 2" that made them fight back tears. Rupert Grint said that, despite the fact he's seen the movie twice, he had to walk out of the theater during the London premiere last week.

"I caught a bit. It is really sad," he told MTV News."There's a scene where all three of us are on the bridge after the battle, the castle is on fire ... there's a weird parallel between that and our lives. That always gets me."

For Tom Felton, it was the epilogue scene that concludes the movie that almost brought him to tears. That scene has especial emotional resonance for him because his real-life girlfriend, Jade Olivia, plays the wife of his character Draco in the flash-forward sequence. But it was actually Daniel Radcliffe's scene between Harry and his children at King's Cross station that affected him the most.

"There was something really nice about seeing Daniel with his kids at the end. I really thought Daniel did a marvelous job of being older. I got a bit emotional about that," Felton said. "Even though it's funny, it was really quite sad to think that, 'Christ, our lives have flashed before our eyes. We're old!' "

Radcliffe also told MTV News that he found scenes in the film "heartbreaking," especially Alan Rickman's performance during Severus Snape's flashback sequence.

Beyond the film, Felton said he nearly cried during Radcliffe, Grint and Emma Watson's heartfelt goodbye speeches at the London premiere last week. He had to talk himself through it, saying, "Just keep it together, Tom, just keep it together," but according to the "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" actor, it was a close call.

"[The speeches] were really quite special," he said. "I was really touched by that. I could have easily let myself go."

Evanescence's 'The Other Side': Hear A Preview!

Last week, Evanescence invited MTV News down to Nashville to talk about their much-anticipated new album and play us a handful of tracks from the disc, which hits stores October 11.

On Monday, we gave you an exclusive preview of "What You Want," the album's roaring first single. Now, we're about to pull the curtain back on another song, "The Other Side," a booming track that gives credence to frontwoman Amy Lee's claim that Ev's new effort is "the heaviest record" they've ever made.

A thunderous mix of double-bass drums, churning, chunky guitars and, of course, Lee's ethereal, widescreen vocals, "The Other Side" is the kind of song that starts big and only gets bigger, culminating in a chorus that's powerful enough to be measured in megatons. Like "What You Want," it's an aggressive track, but, as Lee pointed out, it may also be the best example of what she'd previously described as "fun." There's an elastic groove to the playing, a looseness that only comes from a band letting it all hang out.

"There's this element, this thing that we're doing that I can't really describe. We're just going to have to release the record and create an adjective [for it]," she laughed. "It's just ... 'musicianship.' We're enjoying playing, and the way that I'm singing, the way that I'm writing my vocals, it's not about the most dramatic expression of pain, it's like, 'I'm singing this because it feels really good to sing the melody that way.' And I think that song has both. It's beautiful and epic, but at the same time it's got that rocking vibe."

And in keeping with the overall theme of the album, "The Other Side" is very much a band song (there's a reason they're calling the new album simply Evanescence), the result of Lee working — and reworking — the track with her bandmates and producer Nick Raskulinecz. And while that process makes the song a definite departure for Evanescence, its subject matter &8212 namely, death — is something Lee has been dealing with for years. Though, as is the case with pretty much everything on the new album, for the first time, she's tackling it in a different way.

"I wrote it with the guys. It was real collaborative. That was a hard one for me to write the lyrics for, because I had the chorus — it's very epic and dramatic; 'Counting the days to meet you on the other side' — but then, the verses, again, that element of fun is coming back in, you know, the band, it's grooving," Lee explained. "So I'm like, 'How do I sing about death in a way that's sort of bitchy?' Like, it's not really possible ... it's hard to explain. But it's harder than it sounds."

'X Factor' Preview Signals Return Of Simon And Paula

America got its first taste of Simon Cowell's highly anticipated American "X Factor" series (premiering September 21) during a new TV spot that aired on Fox Tuesday night (July 12) during the Major League Baseball's 82nd All-Star Game, and as expected, the teaser was nothing short of over-the-top.

The almost three-minute promo begins on an eerily positive note as judges Cowell, Paula Abdul, Nicole Scherzinger and L.A. Reid are approached by a young girl on the first day of auditions. "Hi. What's your name, sweetheart?" Adbul asks the contestant, who replies, "Lillian," and Cowell wishes her luck. After she delivers a less-than-mediocre rendition of "Annie" classic "Tomorrow," the judges — including Simon — lavishly praise Lillian.

The promo pans to shots of the panel greeting a line of fans while Cowell delivers some inspiring lines.

"Let's face it: A year is a long time," he says, as we see him uncharacteristically smiling and shaking hands like a politician. "We'll change your attitudes and this is a different decade. It's not about me anymore. It's about them. I want to make people's dreams come true.

"I even think about the environment," Cowell continues, as he gets into a Chevy Volt (one of several blatant Chevy product placements in the ad). "My attitude this year? Helping others make a better tomorrow."

If viewers didn't notice the comic nature of Simon's words, they sure caught wind when the series of terrible "Tomorrow" auditions pile up in a distorted montage, until he wakes up from the dream.

Following glamour shots of the four judges stepping out of private planes as Guns N' Roses' "Live and Let Die" blasts in the background, we finally get a glimpse of some not-so-scripted footage from the forthcoming reality competition. Now there's loads of critical feedback from Cowell and Reid, while Scherzinger and Abdul appear moved by some auditioners. Artificial Horizon is a compilation album of remixed tracks by rock band U2. It was released exclusively to subscribing members of U2.com, replacing Medium, Rare & Remastered. The remix CD is of a similar vein to the band's 1995 release Melon: Remixes for Propaganda, which was also released exclusively to fans. A triple-vinyl edition was released to the general public until 14 May 2010; this version included an MP3 for the Snow Patrol remix of the song "Unknown Caller".

James Sims of the Huffington Post had a favourable impression of Artificial Horizon, noting that although "[u]ltimately, the album is for the fans... there are plenty of gems to be found". He also wrote that the album "proves U2 is unafraid to embrace experimentation, a facet of the band's personality that continues to be successful.

Artificial Horizon includes thirteen remixed tracks spanning the band's career, including three which were previously unreleased. The opening track, "Elevation" (Influx remix) was taken from the 2001 single "Elevation". It was produced by Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois, and includes synthesizers played by Eno and guitarist The Edge. The remix was performed by Leo Pearson. "Elevation" (Influx remix) was always played over the PA system as the band took the stage on the Elevation Tour. The Jacknife Lee mix of "Fast Cars" was first released on the 2005 single "All Because of You". The original studio version, a bonus track on some versions of the 2004 album How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb, was produced by Steve Lillywhite. The Jacknife Lee remix includes additional keyboards played by Jacknife Lee. "Get on Your Boots" (Fish Out of Water mix) is a previously unreleased track; the song was remixed by Declan Gaffney and Matt Paul.

"Vertigo" (Trent Reznor remix) was taken from the 2005 single "Sometimes You Can't Make It on Your Own". Produced by Lillywhite, the track was remixed by Trent Reznor. The guitar part for "Native Son", an early version of "Vertigo", is interspersed throughout the song.[not in citation given] Produced by Eno and Lanois, "Magnificent" (Fred Falke radio mix) was first released on the 2009 single "Magnificent". The track was remixed by Fred Falke, who plays additional keyboards in the piece. "I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight" (Live U2360 remix) is the second track which had previously been unreleased, although the studio version (remixed by Redanka and Dirty South) was included on the single "I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight" as the Redanka's Kick the Darkness mix. The track was recorded by Alastair McMillan on 27 July 2009 at Croke Park in Dublin, Ireland, on the first leg of the U2 360° Tour. Singer Bono includes snippets of the Frankie Goes to Hollywood songs "Relax" and "Two Tribes" at the beginning and end of the song. "Beshno Az Ney/Windfall", performed by Iranian singer Sussan Deyhim, is sampled at the end as the track fades out.

The David Holmes remix of "Beautiful Day" was included on the "Elevation" single. Produced by Lanois and Eno, the track was remixed by David Holmes and features additional keyboards by Darren Morris, additional guitar and bass guitar by Phil Mossman, and additional drums by Zac Danziger. With the exception of a few backing vocals in the final minute, the song is entirely instrumental. "Staring at the Sun" (Monster Truck remix) was first released on the 1997 single "Staring at the Sun". It was produced by Flood and remixed by The Sonic Morticians, with additional keyboards played by Steve Osbourne. The Danny Saber mix of "Happiness Is a Warm Gun" was taken from the 1997 single "Last Night on Earth". Produced by Flood, it was remixed by Danny Saber.

"Get on Your Boots" (Justice remix) was originally released as a b-side to the "Magnificent" single. The track was remixed by the French band Justice. The Hot Chip 2006 remix of "City of Blinding Lights" is the third previously unreleased track. Produced by Flood, it was remixed by Hot Chip. The track "If God Will Send His Angels" (Grand Jury mix) was taken from the 1997 single "Mofo. The track was produced by Flood, Howie B, and Steve Osbourne, and was remixed by Gerald Baillergeau. "Staring at the Sun" (Brothers in Rhythm ambient mix) was taken from a 2002 promotional release for The Best of 1990-2000. Mixed by Brothers in Rhythm, it uses a live version of "Staring at the Sun" taken from the PopHeart EP as the basis for the mix instead of the studio version.

This Is Celine's best collection value wise, a 2-disk set it has lot's more tracks on it than it's single disk predecessor, it includes tracks right from Celine's early days, to tracks from the present 2007 album Taking Chances & obiously those in between, this is the quality that makes it slightly better than her first greatest hits album, All the Way: a Decade of Song which had 6 original tracks on it, although this time around there is just one new track, 'There Comes A Time' which was previously unreleased until now & one rare track 'Dance With My Father', these two ammounting to hardly any new content, but being a collection i wouldn't typically expect it, also this greatest hits is a much more detailed overview, so in that way i think it gives Celine's long illustrious career justice.
